Thought it would be worthwhile to share my initial impressions of Android 5.0 with the Moto 360. I am running it on a Nexus 5. First, 5.0 rox!!!
Nicest feature thus far is Smart Lock, which auto unlocks the phone while connected to the Moto 360. I was doing this previously through Tasker, but it's nice to remove a step. The new Messenger App also works quite well. It has a very well done full screen view of the full message and quick access to voice reply. I am still using Wear Messenger for canned responses, but I've formally turned off the notification part of that app.
I'm using Google Inbox so no impression of the new Gmail 5.0 app. The new Calendar, which is beautiful, doesn't appear to add any better functionality either. More to come here. I feel like Google Now has improved, but that is very anecdotal.
Notifications are vastly improved in Lollipop but I'm expecting the Wear uptick to come through Android Wear 2.0. Hopefully more to come as that happens.
So, in short, Messenger App and Smart lock are most obvious improvements before 2.0 drops.
Anyone else finding goodies???
I like the new update. Like others here I needed to restart the watch to get the new faces to show up. The new features are welcomed. I like the ability to add the date to any watchface now.
I imagine someone will start a thread to post new backgrounds that can be used in the "my design" watchface.
Music Controls Missing from Moto 360 After Lollipop 5.0 Update
I noticed that music controls are missing from my Moto 360 after updating to 5.0 Lollipop. The music card only pops-up on the Moto 360 when you pause a song from the phone, and from there (& only then) can you skip to the next track from the watch.

Hrmm, I noticed that it was missing too.

Missing watch faces
I installed upgraded my Nexus 5 last night to the latest build, reset my device (moto 360), downloaded the latest moto Connect and Android Wear apps, paired and now I am missing all the new watch faces; they show up in Android Wear and I can customize them there but they are not showing up on my watch for selection.
I have reset the moto 360 twice now and still no-go. Worst thing is that I'm missing the Pascual face which is, by far, my favorite.
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
Much appreciated!

I had the same problem, even after I paired Moto360 to my phone and then clear data for the Connect app.
So what I did
Uninstall Connect app
After I paired up with my watch, I reinstall Connect app and login, and then at Android Wear app, I press "resync apps" and all the watch faces show up again on the watch
Hope this helps

Thank you, that worked like a charm!
Interesting, Motorola already had smartlock in their phones even with 4.4. It is a great feature I am sure many people will use.
I do really like the smartlock on 5.0 with my N5, whoever i tried and hoped that smartlock would work flawlessly while attached to both my N5 and N7 (12), but no such luck, worked on phone fine, and does pair with my N7, but seemed to only want to work with one at a time with smartlock, sorta lame, and hope that is resolved. However i don't like having Google Fit and Motorola both running health apps at the same time, i noticed today by battery ran done on the Moto360 quicker, and i know it's due to the Google Fit app, so most likely will have to disable that, would be nice if i could just turn it off instead like one can with their step cards.
After I update to android 5.0, I the answer function on the watch just shows the reject and reject then send a pre-made message.
Anyone know why it says running sync loop in notification panel.. Its been like that for over a day.

Me too, I don't know if this is normal.
Update: I think it has something to do with the Google Play Services Update.

See, here is my deal... I only noticed the "Connected, running sync loop" AFTER i paired a bluetooth headset to test the music playback from the watch.... i saw that and got worries...
a fellow android nerd told me that he saw it after updating google play services to 6.5..... interesting... because i DID update to GPS 6.5 yesterday morning, but only noticed the mesasge after i was playing with the headset... so i really dont know if it was there before the headset pairing or not
yes this is most certainly a 6.5 thing. i upgraded to 6.5 and had the problem...downgraded and it went away. this is on my z3 compact stock running 4.4.4...seems like google updated something in play services before android wear was updated to take it.

i had mentioned it in the play services thread .. appears as soon as it is connected to the phone after updating to 6.5..need to wait for 1.0.5 ..although except for the annoying running sync i see no extra battery drain than before
Sorry to be slightly off topic, but I noticed some of you running this watch with the nexus 5. How are you finding the n5 battery life while having the moto 360 connected all day? Im currently looking at going with this combo over the next few weeks but I hear things about the n5 battery life.. Glad to hear the 5.0 brings some nice functionality though

i was a bit worried too before i got my watch... but i have to admit that i dont see a big drop on battery.... i would say its the same as before... and now i can "so this is what BT LE was all about"
In case you did not see last week Motorola not only updated their Moto Connect app (which I had uninstalled) they also added a Moto Body app.
First Moto Body - When I first got the watch and had Moto Connect installed I thought the weekly activity emails were actually good, but it sucked that you really could not view these during the week. I found the UP! work around to be OK, but would not always work and Google Fit, well is Google Fit. However now having an app for this makes it much better. This is not the best fitness app out there, but it is also not the worst, I would say right now it is already better than Google Fit. Also you can have this report to Google Fit for you. I am actually very happy by this.
I also reinstalled the Moto Connect app because of the talk about the new watch faces. I have to say I am actually very impressed with the new watches and the customization you can do to them. The also use the new update to make the faces interactive. I personal really like Dials II, you have 10 watch face color options and three accent color option. I also has three dial options. I had been using a couple other apps for my watch faces, but really like these and the options. My current watch face is doing everything my old ones did and I seem to have picked up some battery life as well (could just be coincidence).
Overall I have to say Motorola has been doing a good job with the Android Wear updates to the app updates recently. Still very happy with my 360 purchase back in February when it got discounted.
Here is a link for the story on the new app / update:
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/14/moto-body-becomes-its-own-app-moto-connect-gets-a-big-update/
i like Dials II as well. Just wish it would show Google Fit steps on the dial instead of the Moto steps. For some reason it always shows me yesterday's steps, not the current steps today.

Interesting, mine shows the correct steps and dates. I have even been up at 1 AM and it shows 0 when I put it on and then starts counting.
I also like being able to change the color of the watchface while it charging. You can change it in moto connect or when it is sitting on the charger if you swipe up (or down can't remember right this second) it scrolls through the different colors as well.

Unable to use the new interactive watch faces. The watch does vibrate on clicking apply on watch face from connect app does it does not show up.
Any Help.
Howdy everyone,
I just purchased a Huawei watch that I'd like to use to replace my FitBit plus lots more that you can do with Android Wear.
Odd thing that I'm dealing with is that the watch and phone are reporting wildly different steps - it appears that Google Fit on the watch and Google Fit on the phone are not communicating.
I have looked at the Google Fit Connects Apps -> Google Fit apps & devices, but do not see the Huawei watch listed - if the watch is connected properly, should it show up here? If it is supposed to be listed to connected Google Fit properly, how do I make that happen?
Thanks.
Which app is set to count your steps in the actions menu?
Android Wear App -> scroll to the bottom -> More Actions -> Show me my steps -> Fit
Good question. Ive been thinking about this. Given that Fit is on the device and the Huawei fit app is also there, which app gives the better stats, as they show different step counts. Also, if you are using the Google Fit app, is that only counting steps when you have your phone on you, or does it count steps when you leave your phone on your desk?
Edit:
Just tested it and it appears as though Google Fit uses the watch to calculate step data as I left my phone on my desk and went for a walk, and the step count increased.
I have the same problem i was expecting the watch would be connected to the phone app but it doesn't look like it. So what happens when i start one of the predefined activities on the phone such as stationary bike the watch is not doing anything. I can only start tracking from the native wear app which has very few predefined tracking types. Is there any solution to this?
Not sure if this is a common bug or not - if I do NOT have Fit installed on my phone, fit tracks steps on my watch fine, but if I install Fit on my phone, it just reads zeros for current activity on the phone and the watch.. but if I uninstall Fit on the phone, it seems to work fine on the watch. Trying to figure out if it's a phone or watch issue. I did give it permissions to read sensors on both phone and watch on install
Same issues
Google fit did not record steps on my gen 1 Moto 360. I just bought the Huawei Watch as a replacement and fit still does not record steps. The Huawei app works great. I am at a loss on how to get this working. I can't believe it does not work at all. There has to be a setting issue but I have yet to find it.
Update: I have Fit working pretty well now. (have to go back and change my rating of fit from 1 star to maybe 3 ) Here is what I did:
- Deactivated Fit on my phone and deleted all the data. Then I reactivated it.
- I went into the Wuawei fitness app and connected it to Fit. There was not an option to do it the other way. But after I connected it it shows up in connected apps in Fit.
- Everything pretty much started working after this. One thing to note: Everything does not sync automatically. I have to open my Wuawei fitness app on my phone and update it before those steps seem to show up in Fit. So, it is not perfect but it is close.
Old thread but if you guys are still having the same issues with Huawei Watch and Google Fit, please join this thread and submit a bug report. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/77606997
hello
Yesterday i installed google fit on my galaxy s6 and moto 360 gen1
But i have problems with it. i have set activity detection to on and body sensor on.
But what the problem is is that you need your phone in your pocket or it doesnt register steps.
So if i only have my watch on me and not my phone there are not counted any steps.
Then the second problem is that if i want to start an exersice like running it says enable gps on phone. But i dont want to bring my phone with me while running.
The third and final problem is that the heart rate doesnt work automatic it only putts it in the graph when i start the heart rate sensor myself. but it doesnt measure it like every hour
Hope someone can help me with these problems.
someone?
You will need to ensure that MotoBody on the 360 has access to sensors. It does not matter if you intend to use MotoBody or not - I went through the same behavior and in discussion with the Google Fit team, this was their resolution to my issue.

well the moto body app is counting the steps. but it is not getting updated in google fit
No, you do not need to install Moto Body on your phone.
Moto Body is already present on the Moto 360 and you simply need to navigate to the permissions section of the settings app, choose Moto Body and ensure Sensors are enabled.

i have done that now the moto body app on my watch says i have done 101 steps but google fit still shows the same apps as before. i did grant permission so moto body could look into my sensors
It may take a few minutes for Google Fit on the 360 to start registering steps. This is the process I took per guidance from the Google Fit devs. Here is the reply from that email exchange:
"Thanks for the bug report. Could you try enabling moto body permissions, by opening the moto body app on the watch?
Enabling permissions should trigger the moto body app to start recording steps, and these should be reflected in Google Fit."

Once I performed these steps I have not gone back to making use of Moto Body. Are you using one of the Google Fit watch faces to track steps or just launching the Google Fit app on your 360?

EDIT: The watch it counting steps now when i leave my phone on my desk. but when i get back and the watch reconnects to the phone the steps wont update on the phone. so the phone says 8500 steps while the moto 360 says 8600 steps for example. and after 5 minutes or so my watch also says 8500 steps again. so the phone overrides the watch
Glad to hear it's finally counting steps on your 360.
As for step sync between the 360 and your Galaxy S6, I don't have any insight there other than I've noticed that step count syncing is never instantaneous (and even slower to the Fit website).

Thanks but it is not synching at all.
When the moto 360 has an higher value then my phone the watch sets the stepcounter back to the count that is on the phone.
I've not encountered the issue you've described so I'm not certain what steps you could take to correct the issue.
You could try submitting an issue in the Google Fit community on Google+.

Any update on this? Having same problems with my moto360
Hi everyone! yesterday i recived my OnePlus3 and i found problems with the connection with my smartwatch: i have Motorola Moto 260 (second generation) and i can pair with the smartwatch but when i try to connect with android wear the smartwatch is disappeared. when i check the devices on my moto 360 i found my OP3 but is impossible to connect with the device. i tried with my old phone (nexus 5) and the sync is correct without problems; so i tried with another smartwatch and is not possible even with this (in this case my phone not disclose this second smartwatch).
HELP PLEASE.
PS. i don't know if this is the correct section about this thread....
Did you factory reset the watch? I have my lg g watch r paired to my op3 and working perfectly fine with Android wear.

Yes i did but doesn't work...i contact the support team and they told me that in the next update of oxygen fix this bug... do you know another kind of pair with my smartwatch?!
With moto 360 1st gen works with no problem (better than the op2). Now mine is rooted but it was not when paired...

Moto360 2nd gen and OnePlus 3 - no notifications
I have a moto 360 2nd gen which paired perfectly with my Oneplus One. Then I bought the OP3. Now the watch still paired with the OP3 but my notifications have stopped coming through to the watch. Every time I restart the phone, the notifications work fine but in about 2 hours they gradually stop, one app at a time. Changing my watch face to the stock moto watch face also doesn't work. I tried fiddling with app permission and app notification settings but nothing seems to work. What's most puzzling is that google app notifications keep coming through, and before the android community starts trolling me saying its obvious, in the same breath let me say that along with the Google app, the Outlook app also manages to push notifications to my watch with no trouble. And the settings for both these apps is exactly the same as all my other apps.
My take is that the aggressive memory management of the OnePlus 3 could be the reason for this and maybe the only fix for people who dont want to get under the hood of is an OS update with a patch to address this bug.

Facing similar issue on my Op3 with Moto 360 2nd Gen. (I also was with OPO and 360 2nd Gen and now migrated to Op3) I have to manually open Android Wear App to start notifications. Works for some time and then notifications stop coming though watch.
More bug I found that the news apps are also need to be reopened for notifications to start.
It acting like a super dose on the go to save battery.

Opening the Android wear app doesn't help in my case. The app just shows a message saying 'NOTIFICATIONS STOPPED SYNCING' and asks me to restart the phone. This throttling down of active memory to save battery is killing the utility of my smart watch
Issue resolved!!
So after a lot of permutations and combinations, I've figured out a way:
Open the Android wear app
Go to home screen
Fire up the recents menu
Lock the android wear app (using the little lock icon that appears on the top right of the app window in the recents view)
I did this a couple of days ago and my Moto360 2nd gen is a smart watch all over again. No more missing notifications
P. S. I haven't received the Oxygen OS 3.2.1 OTA update yet and hope to stop using my manual hack post the update since the OTA update promises to bring better RAM managent to the OP3 among other tweaks.
