Note 3 Problem - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hi I have an unrooted Note 3 and have this weird issue which I am not able to reproduce. I would sincerely appreciate any help as I have to make up my mind soon If i have to go with Note 4 due to this issue.
Issue 1: Sometimes the whole phone freezes there is no way to get it back other than a battery pull, I dont know how or when it happens. It happens sometimes when I use the phone and sometimes when I put it to charging. Again I dont know when the freezing happens. For example I put my phone to charge last nite and i could hear the notifications before going to bed and in the morning i noticed that it is frozen and it did not charge at all. I had to pull the battery out and put it to charging again.
Issue 2: Random restarts was happening up until last month and it got fixed after a recent software update. I am not sure if it is going to happen again.
I would also like to inform that i broke my screen in April and Samsung fixed it. I am not sure if it could be because of this.
Also I am still under warranty and I can ask T-Mobile for a device replacement for $20, can anyone chime in as to the quality of the refurbs T-Mobile is giving. I did my research and I have note 4 with me that is fast approaching the return time. I like the Note 4 but I personally do not feel it is a significant upgrade over the 3 and I want to wait till Note 5 with an 810 chip on it so i can save some money.
Thanks,
Steve.

Keep it simple, go for the Tmobile refurb, these phones are sometimes just new repacked phones in refurb box. Besides you get new warranty.
Pp.

How do i get new warranty? They warranty the refurb only until the end of the original phhone warranty.

Samsung has a specific refurb warranty, I think 90 days.
Pp.

Oh okay I am kind of still doubtful, because I tried researching on the Web and it appears they had really bad qc on those refurbished ones and t-mobile charges 20 every time.

My wife's phone is having the same problems. She has a Verizon note 3. We have warranted the phone 3 times and no luck. It keeps happening. Would rooting the phone possibly fix the problem?

Insurance/Exhange Questions for Verizon. SOD has worn me down

I've been having the Sleep of Death for 2 months now it seems. It was a please press button to turn on backlight before on occasion, now its been the full blown SOD for the past month or more. I've tried so much and I'm through dealing with it. It's constant to the point its unusable now. I've given up.
Questions I have are:
1. Does anyone really check to see if I have official Verizon software when I go to the store? Can't I just load Mr. X's non SOD Verizon rom and fool them? It looks official to me. A month before I bought my phone noone even knew what a TP2 was at the AT&T store yet I knew about it for half a year before release.
2. Is there anyway I can get another phone? I can't deal with another Touch Pro 2(or windows mobile phone). The 9 months or so I've had it were fun though. It's just so sloooooow at times and dated now. Can I hope to get a refurb Droid Incredible? I have the 1.99 extended warranty if that helps one bit.
3.I bought it online does that make any difference?
4. I'd like to try tomorrow :\
BTW a friend I know from work had 3 separate issues with 3 Touch Pro 2s and on his third trip to the store he was able to snatch a Droid. So I know it can happen but I'm foggy on the details how
if you a having a problem with your phone and you believe it needs to be replaced under warranty, i recommend you tell them you lost the phone and need a replacement.
well that seems a bit dishonest doesn't it? the reason i say this is to prevent you from being screwed over. from my understanding, the tp2 has different moisture detectors on the device that are not accurate, by some accounts on this forum.
i would hate for my claim to be denied and have to pay for another phone when i know that i didn't get it wet...
Do you mean the little sticker inside above the battery? That says void on it :\ It's said that since day 3 or so and I've never gotten it wet. I knew that was fishy and I read about that on the forum. Wow...thanks for the great help.
That really threw everything off though. I get charged for the replacement dont I? Can I get that replacement at the store or do I have to wait to get one shipped?...so broke right now, and all I want is a working phone ...equal or better than mine lol
Yes verizon will probably check to see if you have official software. Also your rom is causing the SOD issue. I use the stock rom and never have any SOD issues. Your chance of a upgrade to incredible is like 2% since it isn't a comparable phone. Also Verizon require 3 replacements inside of 90 days before they offer you a new phone. Also insurance fraud is not very nice. Return the phone if you get a new one.
I think insurance fraud is a bad idea all around. Plus I don't like reading about it since technically I have to stop the conversation if I think that this is where the conversation is going.
I suggest you get the stock firmware back on your phone, re-lock if if at all possible, go to the store and explain the issue you've been having. As long as the water detection stickers haven't changed, they'll usually replace it without asking too many questions.
I don't think the SOD issue you're having is device-related though. I'm almost 100% positive that it's entirely firmware related and I strongly suggest you go back to the stock ROM/RADIO/SPL and see if the issue is resolved before attempting warranty replacement.
Final note - Try to avoid using the term "Insurance Fraud" from here on out. It's bad practice, violates the forum rules, can get the site in BIG trouble and can get you banned/your thread closed.

I have Burn In, advice?

I have burn in on my S3, it is from a golf GPS app that I use frequently. I used it for about 6 months with no problems, then all of a sudden after 1 round of golf a couple of weeks ago the outlines of the app are intensely burned into my screen. I am not sure I understand why all of the sudden it became an issue, as I did not change any settings prior to the round and used it how I always used it before.
At any rate, I'm still within the year of when I purchased it from AT&T. I called AT&T and they told me my options, please let me know what you think:
1. try to get Samsung to replace (do they cover burn in?)
2. AT&T warranty center will replace with a refurbished (most reasonable option, but I've had really bad experiences with AT&T always replacing the phone with a *more* broken unit than the one it was replacing...so am scared of this)
3. AT&T says I am eligible for an upgrade, so I could get a free S3 from them or get a new S4 and pay upgrade price
4. combination of 2 & 3, get a refurbished to replace my burned in S3, sell on ebay and then upgrade to the S4--maybe someone else will have better luck with a refurb'd item, as they never work for me
What do you guys think?

4 sounds like a good solution. Although, the S4 is like the S3s, pretty much the same phone, with some small upgrades.
You can also try your luck with a refurb and keep your upgrade for something better. Summer is coming = device release.
Got a replacement yesterday. So far, so good. It even seems to work with GPS better than my previous one. Hopefully it lasts!
So had the phone only a few days as a replacement from Att. Tonight it locked up and would not respond to anything and I had to reseat the battery to get it to respond. Think this is a bad sign and should I take it back or give it the full 30 day warranty??

On stock? Or you played with it a bit (ROM and such)?

I had a Galaxy 4G that used to do that all the time, the only fix was to reboot it before charging (every couple days). Depending on how much you are willing to pay I think I would go with the S4 option since you are probably only going to get refurbished phones as replacements.

Is there any phone better than the S4 anticipated to come out in the next 9 months or so? Removing the battery every now and then isn't a huge deal, though when I buttoned everything back up and put the case back on, it caused the corners of my Zagg to stretch out a little which is really annoying. I wonder if doing this repeatedly could cause the Zagg to get worse.

If Samsung keeps to it's current strategy, you will probably be looking at the s5 in a little more then 9 months....

[Q] Sudden Death!

My Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 SM-P600 WIFI version is dead, while I was using twitter as usual a brief message appeared saying twitter has stopped then the note suddenly went dead.
Tried everything possible and it was just dead, not charging, not responding to power button press, long press or hard reset (Power + Volume up).
After keeping it plugged in for long time...it is still dead.
The device is 2 weeks old, with stock rom, no custom rom, rooting or anything.
Just called Samsung and will be sending it for repair tomorrow.
Any idea is this the SDS or something else?
My display has gone dead on my note 10 2014everything else is ok. Like you my is goig back also, its a pain a its a great.
Instead of repair under warranty I'm trying to return it to Amazon for a replacement, The problem is that I'm currently outside the US
Don't think of that, will try that tomorrow and take it back where I got it from. Will let you know.
Ok, My replacement is on its way from Amazon, I will ship the dead one back tomorrow. I have this bad feeling that this might happen again with the new one. Hopefully I will be worng
Bit late but took my u/s Note back and got a new 1 and a nice surprise they had come down in price and so got a £100 ($163) refund lol
Well TBH my new is working a lot better than the old 1 faster, smoother et al. Maybe the old 1 was faulty from the start.

Random rebooting?

My White Note 4 has been randomly rebooting, maybe once every couple days, for the last couple weeks. It gives no indication that it is about to do it (lagging up, freezing ect) it just literally goes black and reboots. It doesn't matter if what I'm doing either btw, has happened while internet browsing, using facebook, checking email and so on.
Anyone else having this issue?
I also noticed that my battery life isn't nearly as good as my wifes white note 4 even though we have the same setting on/off ect.
Do I have a bad unit? If so, will Verizon replace it? How would I go about getting them to replace the phone?
It's starting to get pretty annoying.
Thanks
Call ? up verizon tech support tell them the problems your having they more then likely will run ? some diagnostics and if they cant find the problem they will send you out another device more then likely refurbished just the unit no battery no back door etc ..but ive sent through the same thing with my note 3 and the refurbished unit worked better then my original one its worth a shot

yeah, there may even be some advantage to a refurbished/certified like new device. They actually check these devices individually to assure they function as they should. Granted, the issue you're expereincing wouldn't likely be picked up in their short test.
I have not experienced the issues you mentioned, OP.

My Mi 6 just shut itself off with almost full battery?

Hello. I have a Mi 6 I bought and received from GearBest about a week ago. It is the Chinese model with the latest Global ROM installed.
It didn't really do any problems so far, but a few hours ago I suddenly found it shut itself off (after earlier noticing the screen turned itself on even though no notification came). I don't remember if I tried turning it on with a long press first (so I can't tell whether it would have even worked), but when I connected it to the charger it turned itself on automatically. The battery was 90-something %, so I don't know what might have happened.
Any suggestions? If it happens again and it turns out I have to connect it to a charger in order to wake it up, that would be crap.
If you get any more issues just send it right back to Gearbest and get a new one from them.
It sometimes happens that there is a fault and it needs to be fixed that's all
I've had my mi 6 on MIUI shut itself off once and only once.
On all custom ROMs it never did it so it was just an miui error.
If it happens again contact gear best and say yoy want to return it as faulty

Is it a known issue with MIUI? At least to some extent? I don't think I read of this as being a possible problem. Returning the phone is a bit of a hassle.

Not a known one. Just possible that a small bug resulted in a shut down in your pocket.
Probably what happened to me.
Haven't seen it happen since.
I would say if it happens one or two more times you should return it.
You'll thank yourself 100x in the future if you do return it and get a fully working one.
You'll hate yourself if it packs up in the future and you've got a dead phone that you have to spend $300 replacing.
Gear best should be reasonable and since you had the phone for just a week they should see that it was a lemon and just sort it out for you.
They're a fairly big international supplier so I'm sure they have fairly good protocol for this.
The only sucky thing is you might be waiting a month to get a replacement due to shipping

Well, the phone in my case just was just lying on the desk so it was a button getting clicked by accident.
But I wonder whether I should wait and see if something happens again, or contact GearBest now. If I'll wait for another month and only then it starts with the issues again, the replacement period for faulty items will possibly be over.
On the other hand, I don't think they'll do anything other than offer me to send it back for replacement/refund if I contact them now, and the shipping is non-refundable as the phone wasn't DOA (the shipping refund is only applicable within 7 days of receiving the item).
