Did you try flashing the kernel after flashing rom ? When flashing roms, wipe cache, system, dalvik cache. When flashing kernels, wipe cache and dalvik cache before you restart. I used dorimanx kernel on cloudy g3 rom

Are you on android 4.4 kitkat ?
If you are you can get twrp with this
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=13763
Download flashify for root users app.
and download this. Make sure you downloaded the right model version.
http://dansroms.com/G2-TWRP/
extract the img file from it.
Run the app autorec
When it's done don't reboot yet.
run the app flashify foe root users and flash the img file for the twrp with thermal temperature control.
Reboot to recovery. make a full backup of everything. don't skip md5 verification. Leave it alone.
factory reset. Then advanced wipe, (cache, dalvik cache, system.) Flash cloudy g3.
advanced wipe ( cache and dalvik cache )
flash the latest version kernel for lg g2 ls980 first . if it won't flash, flash the other earlier version then wipe both caches and flash that one and wipe caches again. Reboot.

You have cwm right now.
Is it safe to use autorec right now or do you have to remove cwm first ? You could try autorec and see if it works then do the rest of what I said

I have been trying everything to successfully install CM 11.0 Kit Kat 4.4 on my Captivate Glide, to no avail.
I have followed these instructions numerous times:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49743700
I have even used Superuser 3.2 RC2 arm signed and the RC3 versions for root.
Everytime I get my device rooted (which I have checked after the fact), I reboot into TWPR, factory reset and wipe the dalvik cache and then try to install the ROM. Everytime I try it has failed and I have to reflash a stock rom.
What in the sam hell am I doing wrong?

what he said, use the latest TWRP.
Yes, I am running 4.0.4
And I have only been able to use TWRP 2.6.3 (2.6.3.1)...using odin to flash it.
I wanted to use 2.6.3.4 but it was just a zipped recovery image. I thought you couldn't use a zip when installing a recovery? I just wasn't clear on which would actually work.

there is NO 2.6.3.4.
Actually you need 2.7, but version string is 2.6.3.
Recovery without selinux would fail, I dont know other reason to fail. Try to install 2.6.3.1.zip from recovery, reboot to recovery, and install cm again.

I installed TWRP recovery but when I factory reset / wipe data, dalvik, data, system it doesn't format the system
You can try another recovery through odin, if it fails flash stock rom through odin. Make sure you flash one which is as least as new bootloader. Then start from square one.
Witch version of TWRP do you use ?
To do full wipe I use Zoot Wipe script, but be careful it remove everything :

Why did you wipe and format everything without flashing a new rom? Can you still access TWRP? If so, just pick whatever rom you want to flash and flash it.

Hey guys. I am still on marshmallow on my op3. I am rooted and have twrp recovery. My question is what firmware/modem do I need to flash before I update to latest Nougat update and if my steps below are correct.
I would prefer not to do a clean install.
My steps would be:
Download full rom
Flash any firmware if required - this is what I need to know
Flash Magisk as I need root
Profit?

this is stock rom, you don't need to flash any firmware...
if you're coming from MM, i would recommend sideloading the rom, wipe everything, then go back to stock recovery then sideload then before 1st boot fastboot TWRP again, then reboot to TWRP and flash Magisk...Profit.
if you want to flash from TWRP without going through this (which i don't recommend), make sure in TWRP to format data as f2fs, wipe everything then flash the rom, and then form TWRP flash TWRP again, then reboot to recovery (not system), then flash Magisk.

Thanks a ton for replying. Another question for you. I get the OTA notification. I could just let that run and flash twrp after the installation right.

if you're already rooted it wont install..and you can't flash the small ota file from TWRP, you have to flash the Full rom (1.4 GB)...
how you download is up to you, but why download from the update when there's many links available around !
Thanks for all the help. I flashed the new update successfully.
