Problem with Fingerprint Scanner

Hi T800 users,
I activated the fingerprint scanner about a week ago. It worked without any problems. Today I tried to unlock my tab but the scanner pad wouldn't accept my finger print anymore. I would get all sorts of messages like Swipe slower or Swipe faster etc. I had to unlock by using the alternative PIN code. Only after deleting the old finger prints and re registering a new set, this feature would work again. I only register(ed) 1 set of finger prints. Anyone else having this problem? LJ

I have never had this problem. Sometimes it wont read my finger because sometimes the home button gets a little dirty so i wipe it off. What I ussally do when registering my fingerprints is that i scan my main finger that im using only 3 times. Then I scan my other fingers incase my main finger fails the unlocking via fingerprint. I do all that under one registered finger print. May that could help?

I am going to try this. May be it works. I had the same problem again today and switched to pattern. LJ

I have read all sorts of instructions on other threads e.g. For the Note 4. Initially the scanner works. But after a while it wouldn't accept the fingerprint anymore. It really sucks. I have deactivated it now for good. End of story for me!

Weird... Works well for me., but then again I am not a heavy user of the scanner,.

No point of it in a tablet. I just use it for locking up apps instead of typing a password in.

After upgrading to the latest firmware NJ6 the fingerprint scanner seems to be working much better.
BTW this FW is brilliant, very fast and smooth, and there is much more free RAM than in the previous version. Highly recommended.

Fingerprint addition issues

Anyone having issues adding their fingerprints? I get most of the way through and it dumps me back out to the menu. I tried about 15 times and same result every time. I feel like it is registering a touch somewhere on the screen or buttons or something when it dumps me back and no matter how I try to touch the scanner it does the same thing. I have never had issues like this with the last 4 galaxy fingerprint scanners. Anyone else? Ideas?

I have this issue on the note 7 finger print sensor. Whenever i place my finger at the lock screen, it does nothing and without any error message. i can only unlock it via pattern. Tried rebooting the phone and it is still the same. I even delete off the finger print and re-add the finger print but it is still the same.
Not sure if anyone else have this issue and how do we solve this?

Seems like a defective unit. On my n930f works even better than on my already sold s7edge.

finger print after new update recieved today

The fingerprint scanner after update is significantly fast and accurate
You just have to give a good touch to screen and it will unlock
The fact that we are getting update for our devices makes the consumer really confident with the product
The camera should get better soon as well
If u guys see lock screen for fraction of seconds just try clearing up recent app tray for instant fix or just use ur phone normally this bug will disappear
And if it still doesnt work just setup wallpaper again.
This bug appears when u manually try to bring up lock screen by power button or by constant tap on fingerprint scanner
Just clear the recent app tray
The update really is remarkable.

Dont need to wait for animation to get over ...just need to give finger print a good touch which takes less then second and it will unlock ...its crazy fast ...try it

No update in Europe.

Fingerprint not secure
I have two Samsung A50 (Factory software) and when the Blue Light filter is on they accepting all fingers, even if they are not scanned. Even with a piece of cloth between it.
When the Grey filter, Digital wellbeing is on it accepts nothing...Guys, can you check yours?

No update yet in EU so far. The firmware from India seems to have received a handful of updates already but the official firmware update list doesn't list EU firmware so far.

I notices that after the upate in A50. Fingerprint performance is much slower than the previous version.

Hello,i have a50 and why do i feel the in screen fingerprint is very bad at a50?more often then not the fingerprint cannot match my fingerprint.do you guys also feel this?i hope its gonna be better on the next update..or

Yesterday loaded ASC7 firmware. It is not much better. Overal FP performance is a disaster.

Factory reset was executed

Sunday updated A505FN to March update (Serbia, SEE) and nothing magnificent better with FP sensor then before.
Just for a "piece of a hair" maybe.

Maybe a dirty fix but do you have both Face unlock and FP unlock enabled? If yes, I recommend deleting all previous FPs, remove face unlock (delete the registered face), then add the fingerprints again. I did the same and FP unlock feels much faster (even with a tempered glass screen protector). All the best!

No Face recognition. Just FP...

Maybe you are right. I'll check it out.
The catch is that this is unstable: I mean 3 times in the row FP works fine and next few times total disaster

Fingerprint sensor problem

Hello, so I've been using the phone for a year and I'm planning to root it but I still haven't. The thing is the sensor was working for the first few months and it kept getting worse and now it never unlocks using it. Is there any known fixes?

Maybe clean it. I remember mine sometimes doesn't detect my fingerprint properly.

i cleaned it really well. my brother's fingerprint works properly and everytime so the problem is my finger doesnt work nomore i guess

i recently tested custom roms... and rooted my p6p but somehow the fingerprint reader doesb't sense my finger when it's in lockscreen and only work after i wake the phone up... anyone has ideas what's causing it?

Restarting your device can fix some minor issues like unstable Wi-Fi, a frozen program, or a faulty fingerprint sensor. So the best solution for your fingerprint sensor might be to reset it.

by resetting, you mean restarting my device? i tried... but still giving me issue,,,

Since you are running a custom ROM, the best person to ask is the creator of that ROM. See if maybe other people running the ROM have the same issue. Since you are not running Stock and haven't even mentioned which ROM you use, it's hard to help you here in any way.

I am not running custom rom but that fingerprint reader problem is on mine too and its sporadic. The reader would work fine after a reset/flash, days later it would bug out. I have to tap once or lift the phone to activate the screen for the reader to work. Rebooting the phone a few times would get it to work again but its random.

I've noticed on AOD the fingerprint reader doesn't respond while in a smartlock area and i have to press power to get to lockscreen then fpr works (or it shows me unlocked by smartlock depending if it's been 4 hours) . Can others confirm/rebut that theirs only does this in smartlock zones and not in the wild (or if you bt smartlock whether or not being connected causes this)

Yeah, its a crapshoot if it will remain working the next time you restart.
