Would that work or would I brick the phone?
It would only work if you're s-off and you change the cid and mid I believe. It wouldn't brick it. Are you s-off?

I'm not but I was thinking about buying an AT&T M8, I've never heard of MID though. But yeah I know you have to s-off
Yeah it would be similar to the gpe conversion I believe. At least I think it'd be about the same.

Hi,
I would like to flash the newest InsertCoin rom to my One X, but i can't figure out if it will work.
In this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920060 it says that i need a certain CID - and my CID is 111111, so it doesn't match (and i tried to change it, but can't).
So - does anyone know if it will work?
And if it doesn't work, will it brick my phone og will i loose any information? (i made a backup in recovery)

your CID doesn't support the latest JB Firmware...so DO NOT FLASH THAT!
Hmm... That's not what i was hoping for...
So i will have to find a way to change my CID...?
Do you know how i got that CID? As far as i can read, everybody else has more "random" CID's... I'm an HTC ambassador (i work at a phone company in Denmark) so maybe i got a pre-production model?

you can't change your CID cause you are not S-OFF.... you will have to wait.... every phone has a different cid
Dammit...
Thanks for the help anyway
I actually considered flashing it just to try, but i think you just saved my phone...
And i suppose no one knows when we will get S-OFF...?
You know... i might be missing something here, but isn't CID - 11111111 SuperCID??
Surely that would mean the device is already S-Off??
In recovery it says from the top:
UNLOCKED
ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.12.0000
and so on...
I'm guessing that means it is ON?
Yeah that means it's S-ON, but if you had CID 11111111 then thats SuperCID and the CID restrictions wouldn't apply to you.
I don't quite understand how you can have a SuperCID device thats S-On, but if it's a special one from HTC, then who knows?
Mines the same. Weird combo from what I've been reading on here... hopefully there'll no more restrictions or anything... no waiting until every other CID has it first!

So in other words i can "safely" flash the JB rom?
If it doesn't work anyway, can i get back to ICS without a wipe?
I think i'm just about to get VERY happy
If you do have CID: 11111111 then yes, i'd say you can safely flash the new HBOOT, BUT because you're not S-Off, you can't go back to HBOOT 1.12.
You need to make a nandroid backup of you ICS Rom so if you don't like Jellybean, then you can go back to ICS through restoring. Beware though, things like CM10 etc don't work on the new HBOOT at the moment.
did you try fastboot oem writecid HTC_001 while in bootloader ? if device stops responding until reboot it means it wont work
Yes you can..my HOX has S-OFF and SuperCid and i was able to flash the new hboot.

Not all SuperCID devices are S-Off. S-Off also allows you to flash an older hboot, which cannot be done with SuperCID alone.
Yes this looks like superCID but I don't know if it will support the JB firmware... Better not to try

The worst that could happen is that the new hboot is rejected. That's seems like an entirely recoverable scenario.
Then what does SUPER CID mean if you cannot flash the new Hboot, so it isn't that SUPER!

It means you can run any RUU
It will support the new HBOOT i'd imagine, If you've got SuperCID it's like being region free.
I can't see why it wouldn't work, it's worked for other people, thats one of the advantages of being S-Off, so you can SuperCID and flash any HBOOT (+Downgrade if you're S-Off)

He is not s-off
Hey guys,
Does anyone know when an RUU for the T-Mobile HTC One M8 will come out? I ran the GPE RUU, but I'm still a little afraid of something happening to the phone, and me needing to send it in for repair. Does running the GPE RUU void my warranty? It's not rooted or unlocked or S-Off.

There are no ETA's on the RUU unfortunately, but I gotta ask:
How did you apply the GPe RUU if you were not S-Off?

Oh I was rooted and S-off, but after I ran the GPE RUU, I unrooted, relocked, and S-ON my phone.
Hi All!
Just returning to the world of flashing after being with Verizon for so long. I have recently switched to T-Mobile, and have been using my unlocked AT&T. Other than S-Off and an unlocked bootloader I haven't looked too much into flashing yet.
I have been reading the forums and it seems as though the GSM version of the HTC M8 are relatively interchangeable. This got me thinking, I am able to make the necessary changes to CID & MID to match the T-Mobile version, and then convert using a T-Mobile RUU?
Thanks!

Thank you! Just wanted to confirm - that is the exact thread I reviewed.
Just do supercid and use tmo ruu.
Wait... so I just need to switch the CID to the "supercid" and I don't worry about the MID and just flash the Tmo RUU?
(it's been a LONG time since I've been on a HTC device...)
Hello.
So I have a One M8 with a 3.19 HBOOT and I want to S-OFF this device. Firewater seems to be broken on this firmware and I'm not paying $25 for Sunshine. So my question is, is it possible for me to flash an older version of HBOOT onto the device? The device is an unlocked European one (both carrier and bootloader unlocked) with HTC_032 CID running CyanogenMod 12, but I can go back to stock if I need to. Thanks.

Firewater won't work on any firmware as it has now been dis abandoned, Sunshine is the only way to go

Oh, that sucks. Is it still possible to downgrade HBOOT? I've heard that Sunshine doesn't work on all 3.xx devices right now.

not without s-off if you run sunshine, it will do some checks and let you know if it will work or not before you have to purchase, so, try and run it and see what happens. for $25.00 it is worth doing

No. You cannot "downgrade" hboot with s-on.
If you could, then everyone would be doing it (that is stuck with s-on) and there wouldn't really be an "issue" with 3.x devices.
As previously mentioned, try sunshine and see if your device is supported (you won't be charged if not).
I have a problem with my two HTC 10's. Both of them soff and unlocked with supercid done from fastboot. All OK until I went to flash one of them from telstra Rom to vodafone. I did that too but when I tried to update the phone to newer version via ota it said something like the phone Is modified and it can not do it. So I checked via fastboot and I have supercid but when I check from the app Simple CID Getter it says I have the Telstra cod and I figured that's why it doesn't allow me to flash the OTA. The phone is stock nothing modified after I flashed the Vodafone ruu. Any clue why that's happening and if I can get supercid with a different way?
Not sure if it applies here too, but when I converted from Sprint to US Unlocked I had to change the MID as well for it to finally work. Couldn't hurt to do it I don't think. And I want to say I remember that Simple CID app will say the original, but what matters is what it says in download mode.

Not sure what's happening with Simple CID but to take OTA you can't have superCID. Use the Vodafone cid instead.

Glad to hear it worked. I went through the same thing, drove me nuts before I figured it out.
