Hey guys,
Does anyone know when an RUU for the T-Mobile HTC One M8 will come out? I ran the GPE RUU, but I'm still a little afraid of something happening to the phone, and me needing to send it in for repair. Does running the GPE RUU void my warranty? It's not rooted or unlocked or S-Off.

There are no ETA's on the RUU unfortunately, but I gotta ask:
How did you apply the GPe RUU if you were not S-Off?

I have rooted my phone, but I haven't found the tutorial, how to S-off the phone. Can someone give me one?

ok so you haven't found a tutorial....it goes without thinking that because there is NO WAY currently to s-off
So then, is there any way to put a european ruu to an asian without S-off?
as of the moment, there is no way to s-off the One V.
Has anyone had success returning a rooted/bootloader unlocked phone? I'm wondering if HTC sees the loose volume rockers as a hardware issue and would not honor the return due to software being tampered with.

Just run an RUU man. It'll return you to stock or at least locked and stock non rooted. If you're s-off you'll stay s-off.

I was under the impression that an RUU wouldn't "re-lock" an unlocked bootloader.

Complete stock. Locked. Factory recovery. No root. A RUU will erase everything.
Make a backup in recovery save it to your computer. When you get the phone back. Unlock the bootloader again, flash a recovery, then restore.

An RUU does NOT:
- Lock the bootloader
- Remove S-OFF
It only restores the system to the factory state. That and the only RUUs available are for the American phones so unless you have an M8 from the US you're stuck

It's relocked the bootloader on every HTC device I've done it on, it's always said "locked". I also said it keeps s-off.

Then you've had magic HTC phones as my Sensation, One X and One (M7) have never been 'relocked' after an RUU as they RUU doesn't change any settings regarding the state of the bootloader as that isn't touched by the RUU. You have to relock the bootloader to run an RUU if S-ON

Oh well I guess. No reason to argue, just agree to disagree. Just saying from my experiences, I've had the bootloader saying "locked" after running a RUU on my OG Incredible, OG HTC EVO 4G, Rezound, and my friend's M7. Haven't had to RUU my M8.

You are doing something other than just running the RUU to lock the bootloader. The RUU doesn't touch the bootloader and I have had several HTC phones and the RUU will not lock the bootloader ever. It's not a case of agree to disagree, you're giving wrong information. There are plenty of guides out on returning a phone to stock and I repeat running the RUU WILL NOT LOCK THE BOOTLOADER!

God, I'm sorry... I said it's just me and my experiences... That's what I said in that post. I'm sorry, I gave the wrong information. Don't listen to me then. I'm human. I'm sorry I'm not god like you guys and can't do everything right. If you don't want to listen to me, then don't... Bam that simple...I'm sorry I stated a wrong fact. I'm sorry xda users. I'm sorry. I'm very unhappy about S-Off.
Mine is M8y with CID HTC__622 (Hong Kong) - comes with 1.60.708.2 (Unable to S-Off with Firewater).
And my VISA and Master Cards (from Myanmar) are not accepted during in-app purchase of Sunshine, too.
So, I'm googling every info for S-Off...
Is it possible to downgrade with S-On like in this page:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7496959-1-1.html
I don't know Chinese and Google Translated results are hard to be understood
Please, help me...
I would not follow instructions I cannot understand or were translated by Google.....
Can't you use PayPal to pay for Sunshine?
Neither can I link my cards to PayPal, too
OMG
That works for Downgrade with S-ON
Now from 1.60.708.x to 1.54.708.5.
Now unlocking BL.
Will let u know Firewater works or not
OMG
Chugging . . .
Then what ?

You can't downgrade the firmware with s-on....no way. You can only "downgrade" the software and leave the firmware intact !
Like a 1.54 official is going back to a 1.12 software but the hboot (total firmware) never change.

Did I say something about downgrading firmware?
Yes, I've downgraded software only and then using OTA upgraded to newest 4.4.3 (can't remember the build).

Ooof is everybody touchy here or what ? I'm stating the obvious and taking out the confusion of the term "downgrade" .....
Jeeeezzz
Just got my M7 back form HTC for warranty repair. Phone was sent with to HTC with S-off but arrived with S-on and Hboot 1.57
I am a bit confused on what I need to do as things have changed since I first S-off using rumrunner and weaksauce.
Other then sunshine, Is there a way to root the phone in it's present state? Can I unlock the bootloader with HTdev?
Thanks

With hBoot 1.57, Sunshine is your only option. Works easy.

So we can't even root the M7 on hBoot 1.57 unless we use sunshine first?
I assume we can't flash and older version as well.
Thanks

Yes to both: it can be rooted and rommed just after you finish Sunshine.
And you're correct about you can't go back.
Once you've got S-0ff, you can go backwards and forwards with radios and hboots.
Hello.
So I have a One M8 with a 3.19 HBOOT and I want to S-OFF this device. Firewater seems to be broken on this firmware and I'm not paying $25 for Sunshine. So my question is, is it possible for me to flash an older version of HBOOT onto the device? The device is an unlocked European one (both carrier and bootloader unlocked) with HTC_032 CID running CyanogenMod 12, but I can go back to stock if I need to. Thanks.

Oh, that sucks. Is it still possible to downgrade HBOOT? I've heard that Sunshine doesn't work on all 3.xx devices right now.

not without s-off if you run sunshine, it will do some checks and let you know if it will work or not before you have to purchase, so, try and run it and see what happens. for $25.00 it is worth doing

No. You cannot "downgrade" hboot with s-on.
If you could, then everyone would be doing it (that is stuck with s-on) and there wouldn't really be an "issue" with 3.x devices.
As previously mentioned, try sunshine and see if your device is supported (you won't be charged if not).
