Bought a Gnex Dec 2011 and love it.
Have you rooted it? What about your screen? Are you experiencing some yellow tint color?

Is the GN officially available in the Philippines?

Hello there.. bought mine first week of january from a grey market here in the philippines. Mine's not unlocked and rooted yet. Still waiting for my laptop to arrive to do it. Saw the instructions and i think its pretty hard to brick and easy to unlock and flash roms using fastboot. Came from a galaxy S2.

I purchased GNexus from Handtec back in December. Purchased a white GNexus for the wifee 3weeks ago from Negri here in Las Vegas where I live. I am running AOKP w/ Franco kernel and she is running M3 with trinity. Team KANG all day!

Hi guys! Bought mine on January through grey market. Also bought the extended battery shortly after. AOKP milestone 3, Franco kernel #13.1. Not gonna flash anything new soon, since I'm quite contented with it now. Probably when AOKP M4 is released.
Previous phone was a Galaxy S2. Only lasted for 3 months before selling it to get the GNex. Hehehe...

It was officially released by SMART at the end of January. So, yeah, it's been out for about a month. I bought mine at Thailand when I was there first week of January. I'm running CM9 nightlies with FuguMod kernel.
Just got my GNex about an hour ago from the grey market. Still have my GSII but will be selling it soon. I'll keep it stock for a few days. After that, it's rooting time and flashing ROMS. Can't wait to try out CM9. Any suggestions for a good ROM?
What type of batt life you get with the roms and kernels you're using? With standard batt of course. I barely get to 4 hours with data on all the time. I think the radio on my phone sucks. Rarely get a green signal as compared to the S2.

I can go a full day with data always on and still have around 40% battery life at the end of the day. That includes around 2-2.5 hours screen time and 2 hours or so of listening to music/audiobooks.
You are in a place where signal is poor. So the phone sends more juice to your radio in trying to maintain a decent connection. If you're only using data to send messages or text emails or anything that doesn't require high speed, try setting network to 2g only if you don't really need the speed. See if that helps.
EDIT: However, if all those 4 hours are spent surfing the internet with screen on, then you get about the same battery life as everyone else.
Will try Gummy hopefully by tonight! Guess its time to get the extended batt for this one too. Lol! Globes 3g signal isnt as strong as smart.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Wow! Glad to see many pinoys here. Also got the extended batt. I have 2 cases, ringke slim, and a SGP Ultra Capsule.
I really am a power user. I charge twice a day. 6 hours of wifi tethering. Normal usage i can get to 12-16 hours with the extended batt (2.5 hours screen time). Batt life sucks but its better than my galaxy s2 considering the screen size.

Gtizon! Hows the gnexus so far??

Wait ,guys all of you has GSM version? Considering I'm using LTE (verizon)and doesn't have the extended batt. I still have descent batt. life with my gnex.(gummy)
gamit ang gnex ( xda premium)
I think 4 hours is normal if that's only screen time with data on. I can easily pass 4.5 hours of screen time with WiFi and sync on, standard battery. (At least, that's what I got when I was addicted to "Where's My Water" and "Cut the Rope." Hehehe...)
For my normal usage though (lots of calls and texts, sync on, and a little bit of web browsing and Foursquare), I got 2h 18m screen plus 4h 2m voice calls in a span of 2d 7h before ending up with 4% remaining. The extended battery adds either ~1 hour (screen) or ~2 hours (voice) more to that.
As for the signal... My GNex is significantly better than the S2 for 2G, since the S2 drops the signal from time to time. As for 3G, not so much. Still difficult to get a signal from where I'm sitting, except when I stick the phone out the window, but who does that?
Hi, I'm probably going to buy a galaxy nexus but I want to know some things about the telephone before..
how is the battery life of the nexus? whit my nexus s i can get 4 hours of screen on, is the galaxy better?
How is it compared to a galaxy s2 in battery and performance ?
Inviato dal mio Nexus S con Tapatalk 2
Well in terms of battery life Nexus has 1750 MAH and GS2 has 1650 and as per me since i have used both the cell nexus is better and after i using it with Jellybean it gives me far better battery life compare to ICS
and in terms of performance also i would say Nexus only its better bigger and super except for the 5 megapixel compare to 8MP on GS2

It depend what will you do with you galaxy nexus. If only check some email and SMS I think 4 hours is possible
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I think that the Galaxy Nexus is better overall. You may get around 4 hours of screen-on time, but keep in mind that this huge screen is a real battery hogger.
I think that the modding is simple like in the nexus s.. Has this telephone got any known bug/defect? (for example the breakable power button of the nexus s)..
The only thing that doesn't convince me of this smartphone is the battery duration..
It seems that 4 hours of screen on is something difficult to get.. But whit my nexus s is quietly normal get 4 hours of screen on using WiFi and surfing the internet for 1-2 hours, playing for 20-30 minutes and using for other apps the rest of the time (like play store, play music or message and voice calls)
Inviato dal mio Nexus S con Tapatalk 2
with kernels like franco and trinity people have gotten 5 hrs of screen on time with wifi etc..
I've never got anywhere near 4 hours.. or even 3. I've used a billion different kernals and roms, kept up with better battery to make sure it wasn't waking too much... I only get about 10 hours on 4g and maybe an hour of on screen time. If i don't touch my phone, it will last all day.
I've owned Nexus S before, and I gotta say, Galaxy Nexus has few minutes (30min~40min) shorter screen on time than Nexus S. Never owned GS2 so I don't quite know. If you get LTE version, it's gonna be worse. I recommend getting OEM extended battery if you are gonna buy this, but need more battery out of it.
Performance wise, GS2 will never beat Galaxy Nexus, especially since Galaxy Nexus now has Jelly Bean while GS2 is still rocking ICS at latest.
If I were you, I would wait for next Nexus, which probably will be much more expensive. But if you want a great phone now, recommend Galaxy Nexus with no problem (except battery life I guess )
I'm on stock 4.1.1 jellybean and I can easily get 3 hours screen on time with 3G on the whole day.

I don't think you will have many problems due to ROM. I think the only way you would have issues with it would be if there was a hardware problem.

I just checked online for the Las Vegas store and it shows in stock for store pickup.
dang it, if I didn't have the samsung coupon, i'd go get one right now!
So I'm guessing this thread is also for smart dock discussion? I just got done playing around with it for an hour or two and I am somewhat disappointed. Mainly from the performance aspect for the amount of money.
I was some emulators with the ps3 controller using sixaxis while in the dock. In the beginning I was having some sound issues cutting out and shortly had that fixed. But the entire time the low fps of n64oid really started passing me off. It was almost like it was lagging but the best way I can describe it is a low fps count.
Is anyone else doing the same thing as me? Sixaxis with n64oid via HDMI out? I'm interested in your performance and if you are also having problems. Thank you.

I'm not using the dock but I am using micro usb to hdmi and I experience the same problem. It feels like the output video is 10 frames less than the video on the phone. I noticed this in emulators but I really noticed it while playing 1080p videos; they run perfectly smooth on the phone but lag considerably through hdmi.
This might not be a problem with the smart dock. It might be a problem with any hdmi out peripherals?

Doubtful, I'm sure you just don't notice it. It is so slight that 99% of people probably wouldn't notice it. I would definitely tell everyone to not purchase it online so you would be able to bring it back to the store.

Well let me put it to you this way. Ive been watching movies, playing video games and basic work and I have not noticed any difference in FPS when doing anything. If you want to take yours back, go right ahead but I personally have suggested it to two other people in my office and they are happy with theirs also.

Thanks for the reply. As a heavy business user making and receiving 40+ calls a day (a lot of them 20 minutes plus) is why I ask. I have the HTC ONE XL on AT&T now and I burn through the battery by mid afternoon and with no removable battery it's very inconvenient to say the least. I've been thinking about buying the note 2 because of it's battery size and thinking it could be more productive because of it's screen size and software for documents etc...

Google Now on?
All Location services on?
Edge? 3G? LTE? Wifi?
Screen brightness?
Google now and the location services in google maps are HUGE battery users, but I never see if people use them or not. All these 7h, 1day battery life people are NEVER on LTE as seen in their screen shots, its ALWAYS Wifi (which uses less battery) or i don't even see a data indicator at all.
All these variables makes these battery claims baseless. Case in point: my roomate turns off data on her Galaxy Ace II, she gets 6 days battery life.

I appreciate you guys chiming in. I have everything running full blast in the background as I don't want to have to manually turn stuff on and off as I use it. I'm just too busy to deal with it. After having a phone that I can't swap batteries in, the note 2 may be the ticket.
