[Q] G3 keyboard on CM 12 roms - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to install the LG G3 keyboard on CM 12/Fusion/etc ? I've found a handful of resources that provide either a .zip or .apk, but they all seem to be for Jelly Bean or KitKat. I tried both methods anyway, didn't work .

No not yet, will have to wait when there are more interest and devs on it, however the CM12 one is really good i reckon, better that swift key so far nice and speedy.

I agree, I do like the one that comes with CM 12. My main gripe with it though is that it doesn't support a layout that has the special characters of my language included. I'll just hope someone smarter than me will get interested in porting it soon

MIUI ROM port. Major progress! Calling all devs!

Hi everyone! We are currently in the middle of porting the MIUI ROM to our mdpi devices (g1, hero, magic).
We have successfully ported ALL of the pngs in all of the apks to be compatible with our devices. This was a huge undertaking and it was keeping a lot of devs from wanting to get involved. Now that this big "hinderance" is out of the way, I'm hoping some talented devs will be willing to get involved.
I have posted all the semi-ported apks (by semi-ported, I mean the images are all mdpi now) in a zip file that can be downloaded by any devs who are willing to help get the MIUI rom ported to our devices. If you'd like to download the MIUI mdpi apks, you can visit our thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858935
I don't have any dev skills, so I can't help beyond what I've already done. It is officially now in the hands of the community to take the next necessary steps to a full MIUI port. I hope that our two groups (hero and cdma hero) can cooperate in making this happen!
That is my reason for posting here.
Hope we can get this thing working!

This is great news like you said, converting all the image files to MDPI was a turn off for many devs. Hopefully some of them can jump onto this and get a working ROM for our GSM/CDMA hero's
Yes, hopefully some of the remaining dev's here will be willing to help out
I think many are busy with the 2.3 AOSP at the moment Have the MIUI devs agreed to release their source files??
On the movies I found about MIUI, you can see it's extremely smooth and fast!
If this is ported to MDPI devices our Hero will be reborn
I'll have a look at it right now.
good luck, sir.
Hmm still a big task AFAIK. It would probably be easier to port all the MIUI apks and files and what not to CM.
Well.. don't the devs have to edit every single .xml-layout-file to get the images in the right spots now?

Yes unless you do what I said and merge the MIUI apks and the CM apks but there are probably still lot's of specially made apks where you have to do that
I really hope someone completes this!!
hi man i'm really interested on this stuff! i love miui!
could i help you?
Yeah, the more devs are working on it the easier and faster it will be ported for our Hero ^^
If there is anything I can do for this, I'm ready guys
I totally agree but it seems to me like there's a lot of leg work to do so all we need is some instructions on what actually needs to be done. That way people who just want to help but are not actual devs may be able to contribute.
Are there any devs actually working on this port?

I'll test as long as it boots
If we head over to the G1 section....

That is another viable option that we've considered. Honestly, though a fully working MIUI ROM would be preferable, a CM6 Rom that could run the miui apps would be fine as well. Better than what we have now: which is nothing.
Any new info?

[Q] Why there is nobody interested in MIUI?

have you heard of MIUI ?
It feels wonderful .
I've found that there is already someone made it worked on their device
now miui is trying a new program ----help more people to make miui worked on their own device.
I've tried but it doesn't function well .
will anyone have a try ?just google miui !
maybe you can start with i9000 it's similar to i8150,and it has official miui ROM
unfortunately it's in Chinese ,but with the help of google ,that fact won't make too much trouble .
(forgive me for my poor English ....)

I guess the problem is, the community is (right now) to small to find enough people who are interested in MIUI. So the demand isn't too high.
The reason why I chose Android was because of the Widgets and the open source. But MIUI takes away the Widgets(as far as I know) and is similiar to iOS.
But I remember I liked the design and the performance of MIUI.
But hopefully you find enough people and most important a developer who loves MIUI too.
The more ROMs the merrier ! :-D
EDIT: Appareantly there is enough demand;-) DarthJonathan has just announced that he has made a MIUI ROM. Thats coincedence ^^
EDIT2: I think I have overread the fact it is just a theme kind of thing, so it isn't actually MIUI ROM. Sorry for the wrong info.

[Q] Ice Cream SENSEwich Beta 6

Hi, I'm trying to send message to thread about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546915, but as I am a new member of the forum, I need to rack up 10 posts before making a post directly to correct thread.
So here I go with the questions here, with 10 posts or so if I get reply's here.
First post and first question 1:
Hi, thanks for good custom rom.
The question:
I did superwipe for my Desire Z and installed the latest beta 6 to my phone. Noticed that it is currently missing all international keyboard configurations for the physical keyboard that the CM9 and other ICS firmwares have. Otherwise than that it is working quite well.
So can you please add to Beta 7 or RC (when ever that is coming) the missing keyboard configurations? I also tested the bluetooth (which was not working with other ROMS that well) and it works quite well with my car audio and Nokia's BH-905i headset...
Please do notice that Sense ROMs do not have international settings for the hardware keyboard. Apart from the stock ROM, no other Sense 3/3.5/3.6 and even 4 have this setting.
Use the search tool in the right of the thread title. This has been discussed before in the Ice Cream Sensewich thread.
Ah my bad, just interested why it cannot be put in there when other roms have it?

Well, as opposed to AOSP (Cyanogen, ILWT, etc) where code is freely available to edit and change stuff, Sense is HTC's proprietary code. They are not required to show us the code, so inner workings of Sense are hidden to us.
Some of the stuff can be edited because it's available by changing some parameters, but for the most part, Sense is pretty much an inaccessible gate.

So this wont help (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25013313) to get at least Nordic hardware keyboard to work? I can try and flash it to my device and see if it works. I'll report back if I encounter some issues while doing it.

I am no developer, but if the part about the hardware keyboard is managed by the operating system, and not by Sense's framework, then yes, it should be just a manner of adding the correct keymaps. Probably no one has bothered to do that, yet ?
I guess you can copy any working keymaps and keylayouts to IceCreamSensewich. You can find the keymaps and keylayout in the /system/usr folder.

[REQUEST] MIUI Power Control Widget

I was wondering if someone could port the MIUI Power Control Widget to AOSP or Stock Samsung Roms.
I think it looks really good. It has got the same function as the AOSP toggles but if you click the 3 dots, a bigger menu opens (see screens attached).
Thanks in advance!
Don't shoot me for asking again, but does anybody know of this or of some kind of alternative that looks this clean?

I've been asking this for a while in different forums but it seem to fall on deaf ears. I would like to see it replace the stock power control widget that you seem to get in all roms as the miui one look soo much nicer.
use mihome app from market, its only working with miui launcher
here is the link
this app is already included in my ROM
check the signature

thanks mate but all I would like is the some help on how to extract the widget from mihome launcher app and add it to miui roms as I use the full Miui v5 for my phones. thanks anyway
but if you know what and how I am very willing to learn. :fingers-crossed:
Ya know, i have never even seen that get brought up before. It is a beautiful widget and would be great if someone can port it. Im not too sure if it is possible though because it may require the miui framework which has quite a few changes from aosp. If your interested, I have a section in my thread (link in sig) that has all (at least to my knowledge) MIUI ports to date.

hey thanks mate will have a read I'm currently using miui v5 from HERE
it's the unofficial miui v5 so as far as my thick skull knows with it's less than average knowledge of these things it should be compatible/work.
would I be right in thinking that getting the right xml files and graphics from the mihome launcher app and putting them into the rom somewhere e.g. framework-res.apk, frameworkmiui-res.apk or miuihome.apk should add the widget to the rom? or am I way off?

Holo Theme on G3?

Hey,
I've been asking myself if the holo theme will come to the G3. I had it on my Galaxy S3 and I really loved it.
Is it possible to get this on the G3? Is anyone already working on it?
For thos who don't know what theme I mean : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304251

It is, it is.. Maybe I had to formulate my question in a other way ^^
All I want to know is, if this is possible at all. Because LG's UI is so different compared to Samsung etc.

yeah it is possible. we just need aosp
It should be possible; however it requires a lot of work theming the framework and systemui, and a lot of other apps. I don't really think it's worthy in the first place, you are better off just to wait for an aosp rom as they said before.
