Hi everyone,
i have a dilema with my htc one. I accidentally wiped all my photo album because i thought Titanium Backup did a backup or snapshot of everything plus i was under the impression google+ was also backing up the photos since the option was enabled but it didn't.
Now i need to enable UMS for my HTC One so that i can use a software called Active uneraser. The problem is that i need UMS for the software to see the phone. I already tried dr.fone but for some reason it couldnt find the most recent pics, only old ones and even then theres still a lot missing. I have a work colleague who used active uneraser in the past and was able to recover every files from his HDD that was formatted by mistake. The software does support android but i see that the HTC one doesnt support UMS.
Is there any way to enable it? TWRP? App? mod/hack etc? anything?
I am really desperate to get those pics back! :crying:

Yeah, tried this one and it doesn't have htc sense...any other thoughts?
Why don't you think it has sense? It is the basically the factory image.

It is basically a vanilla Cyan. It doesn't have the sense theme and/or any of the sense widgets. Basically I can deal without the widgets but I desperately need to be able to sync with my microsoft outlook. I used outlook religiously for all work info and need that info to be on my phone as well. The Sense operating system allowed this whenplugged through usb, you could download HTC Sync and it would sync up my outlook with my phone....Info in outlook needed: contacts, calendar, tasks....I've downloaded a calendar app which used gmail to sync and that's okay, (not great) but the main thing is my tasks and contacts now....
The one I pointed to brought my phone back to the way it was when I got the phone aside from being rooted still. It has all the original widgets that came with it.
I also sync my outlook calendar, contacts and email with it.
The only difference was that this image was still rooted and not set back to a true unrooted factory state. I'm really not sure why you are not seeing you phone back to the way it was when you walked out of the USCellular store the day you got it after restoring to this image.
Have you tried connecting con247 yet and see what he says about this?
I don't know either.....I will try and contact him and let you know...thanks for the help...
edit: I tried downloading it again and the same result. Boots up Cyan again. Does it matter if you use the free download link rather than purchasing the premium. Another thought: If I get a hold of another desire and root it and then do a back up of the Sense UI, could I just simply copy/paste the backup into my SD Card backup file and then restore that?
It sounds like you need to undo the cyan install somehow before you can run this.
I have not gone any further than a basic root to remove some apps so I am not too familiar with what all doing a cyan mod changes on the system.

I just need The Stock so the *22890 will program my phone, Im having a hard time finding it for some reason.
And why can you revert back the root? As I can see, you have stock rom, but only rooted. If it's working properly, it's no reason to unroot. Id you do it because of original HTC service, they can realize that you were rooted even if now you aren't.
Edit: But if you want to find Stock rom with no changes, try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.
I've just upgraded from an unrooted HTC Desire to a new HTC One X.
I need to transfer my Browser Bookmarks, WiFi Passwords, User Dictionary and OI data associated with OI Shopping List and OI Notepad.
I do not wish to root either phone so, sadly, Titanium Backup and Restore is not an option. And User Dictionary Manager cannot find the required file on the Desire.
I have managed to transfer Phone (not Google) Contacts after a struggle with Import/Export Contacts. DO NOT use the Bluetooth Transfer app for this - it reinterpreted my ~600 entries into some 1,500 mostly garbage, and it drops linefeeds in Notes.
I have also managed the SMS across using SMS Backup and Restore.
I've seen various other posts on the topic that unfortunately do not really inform the problem or haven't enough detail for me to follow through.
Any help gratefully received.
Without rooting, I'd say this is impossible.
I have to say that I've never used it, but what about the stock android backup?
It says it backups Wi-Fi passwords and other setting to Google servers, worth a try.
Cant you use HTC Sync to do this?
Did you try to sync your bookmarks via Google? I'm not sure if the browser from the stock rom supports that, but if it does, you could give it a try. Same with the Wifi passwords - as espi12 said, the google backup should work for that. I used it some times with my desire (running a custom rom), but I think the stock rom should support it, too.
And what about the App "MyBackup"? It says some parts of it work without root. Maybe that handles at least some of your backups.
Like Droidzone said, not possible without root.
I think MyBackup (non-root) version might be able to backup most of those things. Not sure if you can RESTORE them back without root access, I never tried.
With root, I use combination of My Backup Root and Titanium backup.
Thanks to this site I now have a rooted Wildfire S which I have added Link2sd and partitioned the SD card to put my apps on.
I have downloaded a separate message app and am wanting another music player. Although I have looked through other posts I can't seem to find a definitive list other than the advice of freezing apps for a while first before deleting
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to delete these once a replacement has been downloaded or would I be better of using another (more streamlined) ROM and adding the things I want then?
Any help and advice muchly appreciated!

Yes you can replace it with other downloaded softwares, as an advice, backup the stock software, install the replacement software you want like Go Sms Pro replacement for stock sms software and uninstall the stock one, sms and mms will now handled by Go Sms, if not then reinstall the stock one, I've once done that sms thing on my wildfire s without any problem.
Make sure backup the stock one which you want in replacement with others..
All I can say is look through system/app/ and see what looks okay 4 u.
You can just freeze the unwanted apps with Titanium Backup,
The way i tried is to make a full back up then change/modify/delete bits and bobs to be replaced eg. Standard messaging with handcent, android keyboard with swiftkey3, htc lock screen with magic locker and gallery with quckpic. Restart the phone and see if it works. In theory as long as you dont delete actual operating apps you should be fine sorry there isnt a definite answer.. Oh and i found sometimes freezing didnt work, you actually need to delete them
Hey guys I'm pretty sure this is a simple problem but Im not enough of a computer to wizz to work this one out.
Basically Ive installed the latest Viper ROM (I think it's 1.6) on my HTC One M8 and no problems with the ROM at all, however I am finding it difficult to restore all my apps + data that I backed up prior to flashing Viper.
Ive double checked my restore folder, and the 371 odd apps/ etc do appear when it searches, however no actual list is then compiled. The .zips of the apps appear to be fine as I have extracted one and it has run, but I just dont wanna have to search for every app coz i cant remember them all, let alone figuring out how to retrieve the backed up data for them.
If anyone has any ideas or tutorials they know of I'd be most grateful.
The Viper ROM is awesome!
Usually the restore list is just there. Check the preferences for which directory Ti should store and look for backups?
Hey guys,
A few months ago, I installed a wrong mod on my note 2. In order to fix it, I somehow managed to connect it to my laptop and install the latest update offered by Samsung. This lost me my root access. Ever since then, the phone has become very sluggish. Can take up 30seconds to open up apps like Whatsapp. What do you think I should do to fix it? Maybe a factory reset and then root it, install a custom ROM?
Also, what would be the best way to ensure everything gets backed up? I'd like to backup all my pics, contacts, whatsapp messages etc.
Thanks!
