Anyone have the stock rooted HTC Desire rom with Sense UI for USCC. When I flashed cyan I apparently didn't do a Nandroid Backup and was needing this. thanks...

Yeah, tried this one and it doesn't have htc sense...any other thoughts?

Why don't you think it has sense? It is the basically the factory image.

It is basically a vanilla Cyan. It doesn't have the sense theme and/or any of the sense widgets. Basically I can deal without the widgets but I desperately need to be able to sync with my microsoft outlook. I used outlook religiously for all work info and need that info to be on my phone as well. The Sense operating system allowed this whenplugged through usb, you could download HTC Sync and it would sync up my outlook with my phone....Info in outlook needed: contacts, calendar, tasks....I've downloaded a calendar app which used gmail to sync and that's okay, (not great) but the main thing is my tasks and contacts now....

The one I pointed to brought my phone back to the way it was when I got the phone aside from being rooted still. It has all the original widgets that came with it.
I also sync my outlook calendar, contacts and email with it.
The only difference was that this image was still rooted and not set back to a true unrooted factory state. I'm really not sure why you are not seeing you phone back to the way it was when you walked out of the USCellular store the day you got it after restoring to this image.
Have you tried connecting con247 yet and see what he says about this?

I don't know either.....I will try and contact him and let you know...thanks for the help...
edit: I tried downloading it again and the same result. Boots up Cyan again. Does it matter if you use the free download link rather than purchasing the premium. Another thought: If I get a hold of another desire and root it and then do a back up of the Sense UI, could I just simply copy/paste the backup into my SD Card backup file and then restore that?

It sounds like you need to undo the cyan install somehow before you can run this.
I have not gone any further than a basic root to remove some apps so I am not too familiar with what all doing a cyan mod changes on the system.

I just need The Stock so the *22890 will program my phone, Im having a hard time finding it for some reason.

And why can you revert back the root? As I can see, you have stock rom, but only rooted. If it's working properly, it's no reason to unroot. Id you do it because of original HTC service, they can realize that you were rooted even if now you aren't.
Edit: But if you want to find Stock rom with no changes, try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.

Stock EVO-Continuous Reboot Loop. I need to get my contacts off it. No Backup! HELP!!

Froyo 2.2 running, some file corrupted. Spent all day on this site looking for how to just pull the contacts off of the phone. It is in "recovery" mode now...but don't know where to go from here. Do I reinstall froyo 2.2 (update) stock file from HTC and will it wipe out my contacts. Anyone have any "current" steps I could take. Contacts...that's all.
Well your post isn't really clear or my sleep is getting to me.
First, if you don't care about your apps and don't have a backup, wipe in recovery.
but if you are rooted, place whatever Rom you want (for the Evo) on the root of your SD card and flash through recovery. This will keep your data.
If you are not rooted, search the development section for a pc36img.zip that is the latest ota and flash it through recovery. If you can't get it, Sprint can do it. Only if your not rooted though.

You'd be surprised at how many people don't link their Android phones to a gmail account.

[Q] odex file question

So I have searched and google this to death for a couple weeks now. I have rooted my CDMA Desire (US Cellular), and deleted some of the bloatware. I jumped into it before reading all the how to's and such (stupid I know), and didn't back up my stock rom. I'm wanting to reinstall Friendstream, as I have the constant sync icon, as well as accounts and sync Force Closing when I try to open it.
I have heard that removing Friendstream causes this, so I would like to reinstall. I pushed the apk's for Friendstream, and the widget with no luck, so I'm guessing I need the odex files for my build. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Just find an odexed rom, unzip it, extract the .apk and the associated .odex file and push them to your device

I don't get any such errors and I've removed everything "social networking" related.
There's people who state Market doesn't work without GTalk... well, I've been running it fine since +5 months as such.

Still haven't had any luck getting this to work, would be easier if someone could just send me stock FriendStream.odex and widget .odex files for a bravoc 2.1 desire... I know nothing about finding an odexed ROM or anything like that. USCC still has yet to give a release date for 2.2 and my phone functionality is going to crap, as well as battery life due to it constantly trying to sync...

Yea I didn't see it in the Android Market. Anyone else have any ideas as to what I can do?
Not sure but I don't think VzBackup will work on Sensation Based roms. you can restore your previous rom download contacts from verizon and then save or export them to your sd card...Newts Incredible Sensation uses the Inc2 Framework so VZBackup works with out problem. Good luck most Sense 3.0 and 2.1 rom are based from Sprint and earlier roms(before GB) were having lots of problems when they left the vzbackup software in.

VZW Backup Assistant is generally considered useless bloat and is stripped from most, if not all ROMs. Most veteran ROM flasher have supercomputer-like memories and can input their entire phone book from memory after each flash.
....na. Just kidding. We use our Google accounts. It works better too, and you can access it from any computer, edit it, and never worry about losing all your contacts if something happens to your phone. If all else fails, make a nandroid of your current ROM, wipe the phone and restore your old ROM with the phone book in it, set up a Google account to link to the phone and sync your address book to it, then wipe, restore your new ROM, and log into Google. You're entire address book will rebuilt itself, no user intervention required. If you plan on flashing different ROMs to experiment with them, it's the ONLY way to go.
You're other option is dig through the files of the old ROM for the right .apk and copy that to the new ROM. Don't ask me how though. If it were me, it would be faster to just do the flash thing.
here's a flashable version:

put it in the root of your sdcard and flash from recovery.

nandroid first just in case.....

To OP
After you flash this and if it works and you get all your contacts transfered, I would suggest you export your contacts to your SD card. It'll make a .vcf file that you can use (also save it to an online site, or email yourself the file) so in the future instead of having stuff like this that can constantly use up your connection and CPU you can just import this nifty file.
Google also syncs your contacts but I don't always trust it as sometimes it doesn't pick them all up (maybe I'm just doing something wrong)
I stick with Google sync over backup assist aswell. Although sync doesn't always import all of my contacts but majority of the time it works great

VZW Backup is useless! Just as several others have suggested, it is always best to use your Google account to store and manage your contacts. Especially when you start flashing ROMs regularly.
Just as useful as their $2.99 a month visual voicemail.

Retrieving contacts

Hi guys, I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts back on my new rom.
Maybe I just dont know how to sync *from* google to my phone, I have always chosen the google option when creating new contacts but have never manually done a contact sync with google. I looked around on my google account but it says I have no contacts. I have a Nandroid backup but cant read the .img files to get to the contacts. I'm currently trying nandroid browser but it keeps trying to load without actually loading it. I have a titanium backup but after re-downloading it to the new rom it doesnt have an option for recover, only backup in my contacts storage. I did a nandroid backup before flashing my new rom, but the new rom has a different kernel which wont let me recover to my old rom without flashing a compatible kernel of my old rom. It was so long ago that I dont even remember what my old rom was, but it was a sense based rom. I've tried to find a 2.2 stock kernel to see if my old rom will load with that but every download link I try is broken or the file doesnt work.
This is driving me insane, everything I try is a brick wall. If you guys have some insight that would help out a LOT.
Contrary to my name, I do have an htc evo 4g.
Any ideas? Does anyone know of a program that will read the .img files on my mac? Can I go to the sprint store to get the contacts? I think I've done that before, but I'm pretty sure they were on my phone as well....
You synced your Gmail account in accounts and sync right?
Yeah, it has the check mark next to contacts. Interesting tho, when I went to my google account nothing showed up in my contacts section... I found my old rom but the updated rom manager wont let me install it. I think they're gone. I also found another app (app extractor) and that didnt get them back either. I guess anyone worth staying in contact with will eventually call me hahaha!!
Make sure you have the right account registered and recheck the contacts sync icon just to be sure.

I am currently having the same issue. I have a rooted evo 4g and I did a factory reset and loaded the 2.3.5 rom last night. I linked up my google account with my phone and i got a lot of contacts back, but not all of them. The one's I really need (mom, wife, etc.) weren't there. I logged onto my gmail account through the pc and it had the same contacts that synced up. It was weird because whenever i manually entered a new contact, i made sure I created it with the google account and I synced the account before I wiped the phone. I gave up, and like the OP said, if they really want to talk to me they'll contact me. I would still like to retrieve my contacts though.
ok guys...ran into this with my wife. When adding contacts make sure you add them as a Google contact. Should be a drop down in the contact page...otherwise they will only be stored as "phone"contacts
Hopefully they are saved with a Nan backup. If so expect them to your computer as a csv file and import to Gmail and next time be sure you are adding a new one as a Google contact

[Q] Apps safe to delete?

Thanks to this site I now have a rooted Wildfire S which I have added Link2sd and partitioned the SD card to put my apps on.
I have downloaded a separate message app and am wanting another music player. Although I have looked through other posts I can't seem to find a definitive list other than the advice of freezing apps for a while first before deleting
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to delete these once a replacement has been downloaded or would I be better of using another (more streamlined) ROM and adding the things I want then?
Any help and advice muchly appreciated!

Yes you can replace it with other downloaded softwares, as an advice, backup the stock software, install the replacement software you want like Go Sms Pro replacement for stock sms software and uninstall the stock one, sms and mms will now handled by Go Sms, if not then reinstall the stock one, I've once done that sms thing on my wildfire s without any problem.
Make sure backup the stock one which you want in replacement with others..
All I can say is look through system/app/ and see what looks okay 4 u.
You can just freeze the unwanted apps with Titanium Backup,
The way i tried is to make a full back up then change/modify/delete bits and bobs to be replaced eg. Standard messaging with handcent, android keyboard with swiftkey3, htc lock screen with magic locker and gallery with quckpic. Restart the phone and see if it works. In theory as long as you dont delete actual operating apps you should be fine sorry there isnt a definite answer.. Oh and i found sometimes freezing didnt work, you actually need to delete them
