my phone shuts down intermittently, when I have it in my pocket but very seldom if i have it on the table. After did some research of setting the wifi sleep mode policy, deleted apps etc... i still have the same issue.
Hardware probably bad in my opinion.
Any solution if someone can chime in?
Thanks

Thank u manhktqd
I did replace the battery and has been trouble free for the last few days.
My old battery was bad. I recommend anyone with the same issue to check ur battery, use ur fingers to press the middle of the battery, if it feels kinda soft then ur battery is bad, replace it with a new battery then u will not have this issue anymore.

Well I had this problem when I drop my phone from only 1'' on the table. It shut down.
I clean the battery contacts, add a little bit of dielectric grease, and it made the trick.

I dont know if this is common, but my XDA IIs hard resets itself even when I remove the battery momentarily to change sim card. This happens even when the device has just been removed from the charger after having been there for ages (just in case ;-) ).
This is majorly annoying since it means I cannot swap sim cards away from my PC (since a restore is necessary afterwards). I know I can restore from my phone, dont tell me that, its the useless internal battery that bothers me.
I agree!
If the battery is out for about 6 seconds, it's done!
Or, the unit is ON, and the battery falls out... INSTANTLY!
Terrible!
Dumbest design I have ever seen!
The most annoying thing is that when i was trying to do a hard reset once by removing the battery, it wouldnt go! It lasted its full quoted 20 minutes!
I suppose youve just gotta be prepared with a fresh backup beforehand, grrr.
The internal battery is so that it doesn't do a hard reset and wipe everything off of the volatile memory when you pop the battery out; it's not designed to keep your device on when you pop the battery off.
I know that, but it doesnt even do what you said.. (most of the time)

I haven't had a problem with mine; I can keep it out for a few minutes without issue.
Hi:
When I turn on Flight Mode (the phone is off) and when I close all programs before removing the battery, my PDA2K just does a soft reset, not a hard one.
Hope this helps.

Try to check if the backup battery works right... I had this kind of problem when my backup battery didn't work...
Yes, same thing happens with me. This has one permanent solution, upgrade to WM5.

help replacing backup battery
Hello all, I need help replacing the backup battery, and, what type is it?
moving house again, cant find the book.
Also from my previouse Psion Organiser days it was always better useing NEWS PAPER to clean the battery BUT DONT TOUCH IT! use plastic tweezers if you can, and clean the inner contacts with news paper or similar.

It's a boggo standard lithium cell, maxell 1602 or summat, 3v w/tags costs about 3? Open the unit up, peel back the conductive tape, remove the shielding and it's out.

If it's needing a soft reset after it restarts, that sounds like the battery is loosing it's connection to the phone.
Check the contacts and the battery. Also make sure the contacts are sticking out and making good contact.
Worst case, the battery connector is breaking loose from the mainboard.
Best case, the battery is just not making very good contact to the phone.
and sure to check the condition of your battery.
some substandard/used/aged batteries fluctuates, from 100% to 70% or maybe even lower, that's what i've experienced when i bought my first "Xth" hand BA.. ahaha... i dont know how many times it passed hands.
Cool thanks,
well after having this problem for couple of months I finally took the battery out juggaled it around cleaned the contacts with my finger and not for 3 days already i experience no restarts
Yo There..

If u tries to take off your battery when your device if on.. then u put it again n press the "power" button.. you will see that the radio is "0"/"Zero"..
which means even your device can boot into the today screen it will not receive any Phone Signal.. then after u do a soft reset the radio will appear again..
which means the "signal loss" or problem is caused by the phone's power lost beacuse of the battery malfunctioning..!!
u done a good joob throwing out your battery.. I've battery problem too, but it's more annoying beacuse it cuse my device reset too.. this is realt bad!!
Try tightening up the screws
Try tightening up the screws behind the battery. I had same problem and now its fixed.
Hello guys,
Been using my HOX now for over a year and im loving it. Anyway a while ago the phone started to over heat and the battery drains so fast so I thought that theres something wrong with the rom.
I reset the phone to factory, wiped every thing, and installed a newer version(vipers)
Theres no more over heating I guess but the battery still drains so fast. I barley get 5 hours
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I would suggest you try a new battery. Sometimes it's the battery that is not working properly, not the software. May be that will solve it
Helped? -> Hit the thanks button

Hi guys. My phone is overheating after 2-3 minutes of using whatever i do. Its not only when im playing games, its everytime i use the phone. The upper part of my phone , the parts near the camera and the upper screen are overheating very badly and the battery is always cold. If i'm not using the phone the battery will not decrease but after some minutes of using my battery my battery will decrease very fast . i had an another phone with battery problems and the battery was decreasing instead of using or not but with this phone the problem is because of the overheating when im using it and charging it. The phone was factory reseted but nothing changed. May i resoft it or reset it again or may i go to a service? Sorry for my bad english
Are you rooted

If you are using a custom kernel, don't forget to setup the kernel.

hello I had the same problem and the only thing that worked for me is that I used a heat dissipator on the CPU it`s real easy to do you just need to have some experience tearing down the phone
things you need:
1.- tear down the phone and locate the CPU it`s on the back of the motherboard when you open the phone
2.- select on tipe of dissipator because there`s paste and pads and the one that i`ve used are the Pads
I hope it helps, i still have some heating up but it`s way better than before
If no root or custom kernal maybe a rogue app
---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 PM ----------
I second the pads ive always been taught that the paste is good but always a chance that the hotter it gets the paste could slightly liquify and run off. I know its dieelectric but still dont want to chance any kinda liquid on rest of boards
I forgot to tell that the screen was replaced with the warranty before i bought the phone from somebody . Maybe this is the problem? maybe the screen wasn't replaced properly? The screen consume 50% of my battery . Today like 2-3 hours overheating stops but now everything happens again .. Yesterday i factory reseted the phone but it doesn't helped me .. Should i send it back to the service to see if the screen is replaced properly?
PS: It's not rooted
Again try for a rogue app if not then yea probly ure best bet

can you tell me an application that removes rogue apps ?
I use wakelock detector but u may need root for it it might not. U might try to goto settings battery usage now the screen uses the most but take a screenshot. So i can see if theres a app i see outa place

hi!
last week i have been suffering an awful battery performance. it goes from full to dead in about six hours, regardless of use.
I though that it may be a firmware, or app, problem. but today I realize that the device is bended in its top section.
so.. connecting the dots,, now i am afraid that the lithium in the battery is reacting in a bad way due to overcharging, or something like that, and that it caused the battery to swollen and then bended the phone.
what do you think? should i get a new battery asap?
thanks!
Yeah, that might be a puffy lipo. Can you take a picture of the bending?
If it is the battery you'll definitely want to replace it asap else you'll risk it rupturing which can lead to fires, explosions, etc.
^ What he said. If it is the battery, don't hesitate, that can be dangerous!
I had the exact same issue, sent my phone to HTC and they replaced the battery. I always use to have it on charge lol just got it back yesterday.
got it! i have ordered the new battery and will be changing it shortly
thanks !!

Be very careful taking this phone apart, its very, very difficult. Theres ALOT of parts. I recommend watching this video. https://youtu.be/T5uLJJnEHMk this video has the best method and safest for the phone.
