Hi Desi guys & gals.
Here I present to you Latest XXJPY with MODEM & CSC from DDJP6. This way we wiil enjoy the Latest PDA with localized settings.
Although this works, there are certain things to be ironed out. I am working on them. Please wait till I update this post. This works perfectly, while DDJP6 gives you all settings automatically, with XXJPY you need to configure a few things by yourself.
If any of you want to try this ROM & help me with problems, I will be grateful.
Give me some time to update all the necessary information here.
1. Flash Stock DDJP4 if you are on any modded ROMs. Dont bother if you are on stock 2.1.
2. Using Odin Flash this ROM over it. Use 512 pit with re-partition.
Thas all. You now have a pre-rooted phone with custom CWM & lagfix options.
Caution, this will wipe all your data. Please wipe/factory reset before flashing & do a dalvik wipe after flashing, before starting for first time. Titanium Backup works flawlessly for me for Backup & Restore.

Notes :
1. I have found it a safe practice to first flash ONLY the pit file with re-partition. Pull the battery before it restarts, put it into download mode, select PDA, MODEM & CSC, NO pit this time & NO re-partition plug-in the phone in download mode at the last moment & press start.
2. Link to Stock DDJG4
- Download password = samsung-firmwares.com
3. Although its not really documented & thus open to discussion, I have found that Odin3 1.7 is better at NOT semi-bricking your phones. It has helped a few to come out of semi-brick after using Odin3 1.3.
4. This has been tested by me & friends to be working on Intentional Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.
5. All questions & clarifications about SpeedMOD should be referred Here
6. Those of you who want to try out STOCK XXJPY, Flash XXJPY kernel over the modded one.
7. I am currently taking a wish-list. Anything Stock is welcome.
8. This thread is located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898104
9. If for some reason you cannot pull the battery in time or similar thing & the phone won't boot, please used VolDn+Menu+Pwr combo to go into download mode.

Hi,
Can you kindly provide the PDA without the SpeedMod. The Offiical one. With out any change or mod.
Installation guide please
Hi Ragin, I have a suggestion and request at the same time for you:
Probably the easiest way for your Indian fellows to use and try out any kind of ROM is to do a backup of their APNs while they are still on stock Rom with the following program available for free in the market:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/apn-backup-restore/com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore
After having flashed the ROM of their choice they can simply restore the APN settings through the same program and they are immediately online again.
Now my request: as I will travel to India very soon I would like you to backup your APN settings for me with this program and either post the xml file here in reply or PM it to me.
Thanks a lot and cheers from Bali

Yes, I am aware of that. I myself did that till today. This ROM is meant for those who want to stick to STOCK roms without any modifications, as the present 2.2.1 ROMs are quite fast & lagfree. And still have the benefit of having their regional MODEM & CSC because of vast number of mobile providers in India.
Those who are using XXJPY stock rom in India can actually try using this ROM & give a feed back about battery use.

I think you got it all wrong, because of that mount e error, you first need to flash a STOCK 2.1 ROM if you are on a 2.2 ROM. Then go into download & flash this 2.2.1 over it. If you are already on stock 2.1, you can flash this ROM directly over it.
Qs
Just out of curiosity, how is this useful? What localization benefits do we get?

I was on Darky's & here's what I did. Fired up Odin3 1.7, selected 512 pit, it automatically selects the re-partition for you, put the phone in download mode, connected it to my computer, waited till the com # showed up in Odin, pressed Start. It flashed & showed Pass in green & pulled battery. Fired up Odin again, flashed stock DDJP4. Fired up Odin again, No Pit, Select XXJPY PDA, MODEM & CSC, put my phone in download mode again, connected, & pressed Start when it showed up in Odin. It boots up & I am in XXJPY.

The localization benifits are better wifi, better 2G 3G & better integration with Service Provider's. PDA is universal whereas MODEM & CSC are region specific.

JM9 P1000L version have a protected bootloader.
You can download app and get more informations about bootloaders here.
Some ROMs dont have a dbdata.rfs file.
dbdata.rfs is necessary for flash NEW roms.
dbdata.rfs link for Gingerbread
Before flash, open .tar file (rom) and drag dbdata.rfs into package.
After flash if your 3G dont work, you should install modem of the previous rom.
You can do this replacing modem.bin (JM9) file into .tar package before flash.Recovery - Black ScreenMany P1000L/N users are trying to install the new android version (Gingerbread).
If your device shows a black screen you will need press on power button some time for power off it.
Now, for download mode you will press this buttons: Home + (Vol -) + Power
You can test download mode with Odin. When it shows COM Port (yellow) enabled.
You need learn about Heimdall.
What is Heimdall?
Heimdall is a cross-platform open-source tool suite used to flash firmware (aka ROMs) onto Samsung Galaxy S devices. More information.
Now, you should download P1000L stock ROM (Password is "samfirmware.com"):
P1000L
Uncompress .rar
Uncompress .tar
You will see:
boot.bin
cache.rfs
factoryfs.rfs
gt-p1000_mr.pit
hidden.rfs
modem.bin
param.lfs
Sbl.bin
zImage
Now, using Heimdall command line, you will flash boot files.
Be careful!
Its very IMPORTANT...
Its works ONLY on P1000N or P1000L devices.
Command for recover:
Code:
heimdall flash --primary-boot boot.bin --secondary-boot Sbl.bin
REMEMBER - The boot files is signed.
Read this topic for solve this.

AFAIK, CF-root does have CwM inside already.
This should be ok to use with Overcome too, since Overcome only asks for a GB kernel.

Hi Humberto,
I'm planning to flash Gingerbread using Heimdall.
I have three questions:
1º) I'll decompress the ROM file and substitute dbdata.rfs and modem.bin with the files you said in the other thread and flash everything with Heimdall (repartition enabled). Is it right?
2º) The bootloaders at the Gingerbread P1000N ROM is fully compatible with P1000L device right?
3º) Is it possible to post here the md5sum of each file that I will need to flash using heimdall? I'll be much more calm if I can compare the md5sum of the files you have flashed and we know that work with the ones I'm suppose to flash.
Thanks,
Ronan

I suggest you read and understand the other thread from HumberOS and follow post 314 with Humberto's little procedure for flashing Gingerbread and a few tips on postes following that one.
That means, return to stock Froyo ROM (2.2), wiping everything, before flashing stock Gingerbread ROM (2.3).
Hi guys! My great mate and friend @edzamber has made a collection of all KitKat Stock Kernel and has made them available for all us! So, all credits go to him!
The Kernel is a computer program that manages input/output requests from software and translates them into data processing instructions for the central processing unit known also as CPU. The Kernel acts as an intermediary between the software and the hardware.
Neither @edzamber nor I are responsible of any damages caused by your mistakes. Perform the procedure at your own risk!
No mirrors please
Requirements:
- A PC using Windows.
- Samsung driver --> HERE.
- Odin 3.07 or Odin 3.09 or Odin 3.10.
You have always to flash a Kernel matched to your ROM version. For example, if your ROM is GNG8, you have to flash the Kernel_Stock_GNG8.tar.md5 file. Otherwise your Wi-Fi will not work. If you flash a Stock Kernel on a Custom ROM, your Wi-Fi will not work because there aren't the stock modules in /system partition. You will need to download the firmware matched to the Kernel version, extract stock modules from system.img.ext4 using the kitchen and then put them in /system partition setting right permissions. Some stock modules are available HERE.
Let's start!
1) Download Stock Kernel from HERE.
2) Run Odin on your PC.
3) Reboot your device into download mode.
4) Put the Kernel in PDA/AP.
5) Put the tick only on "Autoreboot" and "F. Reset Time".
6) Click on "Start" to flash the Kernel.
7) Flash Stock Modules via recovery custom if you have one. Otherwise put manually them in /system partition using a file manager.
8) Reboot and enjoy!

Could you - by any chance - also provide the wifi modules?
/system/lib/modules
dhd.ko
scsi_wait_scan.ko
Downloading the image would me 15 hours

Thank you!
Can someone be generous and upload me the latest G930F modem file, please? it is G930FXXS8ETCZ.
I ONLY need the modem, you can do TWRP backup, compress, and upload. Or if you have the firmware containing it, only extract the modem.bin file.
Thanks in advance!

You can check and download the files (stock Samsung firmware) you need with different tools, such as Frija.
Check this thread:
[Tool] Frija - Samsung firmware downloader/checker
* * * PLEASE UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE INSTALLING TO YOUR DEVICES AT ALL TIMES AND ME AND THE DEVELOPER ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SORT OF DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE * * * Hey Guys :) Frija is a new tool (successor of now depreciated tool SamFirm)...
