Exactly, what the title says, "Launching camera from lock screen/sleep mode not working". I actually have 2 brand new HTC One M8's and both phones do not launch the camera in landscape orientation. Am I missing something? I looked through all the setting and couldn't find anything that was associated with this feature. I tested it with lock screen and no lock screen but it still doesn't work.
I'm really disappointed in HTC. I bought an upgrade only to find my first HTC One M8 defective - multiple sim cards not being recognized. I tried everything - layers of tape on sim card, new sim card, factory reset, airplane mode on/off, putting it back in and out 100+ times, cleaning the sim card, compressed air in slot, etc. All failed results.
I am starting to find many bugs on the 2nd HTC they sent to replace the defective one and I will start a new thread in regards to another bug to keep these threads on topic. Well, I don't know if they're "bugs" or simply broken features.

Figured it out. I guess it was just user error or lack of knowing. Apparently, the 'Motion Launch gestures' has to be enabled in order for this to work. I wish there was a way to isolate this. Launching the camera quickly is very convenient when you don't want to miss a shot, but I don't need to use all the other motion launch gestures. It'll just wake my phone while in my pocket or make "butt" calls.

Screen will not turn back on once phone is put to sleep or if the proximity sensor turns it off during a call. Very annoying, have to soft reset constantly. I currently use Android on my phone cause at least the screen will turn back on when using that.
Right now i have a stock 6.5 t-mobile rom and have tried several other roms as well.
Any suggestions?
Yep, easy fix, I posted this several weeks ago:
With the tilt 2, if the screen does not wakeup, but you can answer the phone, hear music, etc..., it is a malfunctioning light sensor, maybe hardware, or software related (drivers), but it is fixable. Just eliminate all calls for use of the light sensor.
I had this problem and took quite a while to figure it out, as there are several apps that poll the light sensor that cause problems.
First, go to start/settings/system/power/backlight and uncheck the auto adjust backlight option
Second, go to start/settings/personal/buttons/backlight and uncheck the enable keyboard auto backlight sensor.
Last, open advanced config (need to download and install from touchxperience.com, if you do not have it), tab to light sensor and set light sensor polling to disabled.
Now, my phone works normal and will wake up properly from standby like it should. this all seems hardware dependant, as I have in my family 3 of these things and I dropped and broke mine, so bought a new one (4th in the series) and it had the SOD issues, but could restart with softrest. Took me the better part of the day to find a reliable fix, but now all is well again.
Hope this helps other Tilt 2 and similar issues.
There's a lot of reasons for the SOD. The methods above probably worked for some people but never did for me. If they don't work, i'd suggest taking your your micro sd card, running scandisk on it and seeing if there are any errors. I had to switch cards because my card had errors on it. Haven't gotten a SOD since.
Yes, that was the first thing I tried on mine, because I changed the SD card with the new phone, but no errors found, so I kept digging. Stopping the all calls to the light sensor was all that worked for me. There are typically 3 culprits, bad light sensor, bad or overwritten drivers for the light sensor and sd card or ROM errors. All hard to fix and just have to keep trying, or go back for warranty replacement and hope the next one works. For me, only 1 out of 4 in our household has this problem and they essentially all have the same software, ROM and micro SD cards in them. Go figure.
hi, i have the same problem with the sod. i installed the rom from comec. then i deactivated htc sense on my phone an installed spb mobile shell 3.5 and i have no sod
Hi guys,
just came back from me business trip and realized that.. I have posted something totally useless.
So I came back, with the same request, but properly explained.
All the threads I read are about Galaxy or other phones....
I have and issue with my Desire HD. There is a strange problem with the magnetometer. I took me a while to find out that is connected to it, because.. sometimes by screen just remains blocked. There is no response from it to touch. After some seconds (between 1 and 20), it works. But, the compass is not working (if I check with some sensor application it says that magnetometer is not present.
Sometimes, the best workaround is to disable screen rotation (that is also somehow strange to me, as I don't really see the connection).
After a factory reset (install new ROM, etc), everything is OK until I use the GPS the first time.
So, the questions now:
1. As the sensor works (sometimes for days), I expect to be a 'software' problem. How do I manually reset the magnetometer? I have read that for Galaxy (for example), you can do that by getting in some hidden factory menu...
2. Is it posible to disable the sensor totally? I would not like to do that, as I would like to have the screen rotation, but it can be handy to be able to enable/disable it.
P.S. MAybe an admin can delete this thread (I have created the new one just because the old one.. is way back...hope this does not come against any rule)

I cannot belive nobody has an idea. At least an idea, if not a solution.
Suddenly the fingerprint scanner became less responsive the past few days. Then today it's just stopped working. Restarted, cleared fingerprints, restarted and system could not find scanner and bring it to support. Another restart and I was able to add fingerprints, but it still does not unlock the phone.
Any thoughts?
I'm done with LG too. V10 dead. G7 thinq dying. DONE!
Hey guys, I'm actually a Pro! I repair phones all day everyday and the G7 is my daily, my fingerprint scanner actually quit working and I replaced it, and it works totally fine now. I believe it is a manufacturing defect, but LG is a **** company and they don't own up to stuff like this. I love my G7, but I wish they handled things better. If you can send it in on warranty, otherwise replace the fingerprint scanner. Any local shop should be able to to do it 60-80, Mobile Defenders has OEM ones. Different colors work Fina as well. I have a pink ok on my blue boy. It's dope. Only real issue I've had, that and my battery is starting to get mediocre
I'm in the same boat. A reboot does the trick, but it's sooo annoying. Wish LG would own up and fix it.
Only it's not an issue because of the millions of g7s that have no problems.....

No issue with fingerprint scanner....
Excuse my bad english....
It happens to me sometimes but is due to some apps installed out of google play. In my case the solution is just to uninstall the app or the apps and then reboot the phone. It works for me in 100% of cases.
Some other cases i can just install them again and the fingerprint scanner is working with that app.

Always the cracked ones. Not all the cracked apps but NOT the apps from google play.
I meand that is like if the apps i donwload from that web sometimes block the fingerprint.
And most of the times is just inmediately.
I dont usually install those cracked apps but i download a few photo and video editing tools.
Mine "fixed" itself after about a week. It may have been an app or an update. But it works fine again.

So, after lot of investigation, the problem is with the fingerprint's "activity". It just stops working which will cause it to not show up in the menu and more headaches around other apps relying on it.
The possible solution to this is:
Download activity launcher or any app that can extract the activities running in your phone.
find: 'FingerprintASM' and 'FingerprintAuthenticator' under 'all activities' from the drop-down menu on the top
Tap on each to run it.
Restart the device.
Thank me later once done. :good:
Tried it a few times, but fingerprint only works about 75% of the time event after trying this. In fact it's getting worse. Maybe it's hardware...

I have very similar problem. Fingerprint works in random situation but many times it does not work. Looks like fingerprint ceases to be active.. maybe its firmware problem. LG probably do not care about it.. but I see many LG users haves this problem.
I had an issue with mine when I first got it. The back plate had been removed and glued back on. It was slightly open on the top, which made the fingerprint sensor move away from the connection on the back of the phone. The sensor was mostly unresponsive until I sealed it back up. Not sure if this pertains to your problems, but I figured I'd share.

Question for the repair guy! My G7 Thinq fingerprint scanner stopped working. I tried to add my fingerprints again with no luck. The phone "buzzes" when I touch the sensor and the screen displays "Place your finger on the center of the fingerprint sensor." Sometimes I get "Sensor needs to be cleaned"
Stepped through some other suggestions and did a "hard reset/wipe of the phone", no joy. Will replacing the fingerprint sensor would effect a repair? I would hate to go to the repair shop, pay for the replacement, and it still not work.
Thanks in advance
One possible quick fix
I noticed in a tear-down video that the fingerprint sensor uses touch contacts for signal transmission (as opposed to being a plug-in contact). I pressed on the area about where it is located, just under the flash and IR, and now it works! If you've dropped your phone a few times it might cause this as the back is glued on and the contact area could pull away from the glue (just a theory). I think I will try to heat it up and press down on it some more for good measure.
Update:
This approach does get it working again but the effect is not long-lived. Tried it with heating but again it is not permanent. Alas.

I don't have these activities in the Android 10 ROM. When I activate some others it throws an error that seems to indicate the hardware is missing.
It's newly ordered and it seems connected ok, same position as original, checked without cover too, just doesn't work. Perhaps incompatible hardware or faulty?
activity launcher did not work on my LG Q stylus plus !!!

It seems to appy to Android 9. 10 has some other processes.
Easiest is to look for Smart cleaning, then choose fingerprint.
It will show that the hardware is not being detected.
I tried everything to no avail.
I either got two broken sensors or another issue.
Seems the lower board might be suspect.
If anyone figures it out, please psot, so will I.
Thanks

I've had my unlocked note 10+ for a few weeks now. I have it flashed to tmobile firmware and it's been working great. My issue is with samsung pay and my gym membership. I came from a note 8 and my gym membership is a bar code which worked with the gyms scanner. When I switched over to the note 10+, the gyms scanner wont scan the bar code anymore.I've called Samsung and they said it's a first for them. They had me clear the cache and re-enter my card, both of those attempts didn't work. Has anyone had an issue with this?
any insight?
Anyone?

When you say barcode that is read by the gym's scanner is it a barcode that is displayed on the screen, and you hold the phone up to a reader for it to scan that bar code from the screen?
If this is the case then there is really no answer.
So in order to get this to work you need to adjust the screen brightness up and/or down, angle of the phone (when held up to the scanner), distance of the phone from the reader, zoom in or zoom out on the bar code (if possible), and make sure the screen is clean.
It's a lot of trial and error until you get it to work, no magic one size fits all cure exists. So all, one or a few of the steps above will help.. You will just have to experiment until you find what works for you.
I had a similar issue (barcode scanning from the phone's screen) while using a store gift card via bar code on the screen of the phone. That's all I did (the things I mentioned above) to get it to work, but it did work eventually.

yes correct. ive tried moving it around, up, down, tilting it. tried moving the distance.
when i go to the card, the screen does brighten up a bit but not to full brightness. i guess ill have to try that. with my note 8 it never went to full brightness and still scanned pretty quick. thanks for the input and ill post up after i try putting the brightness up all the way.

I would avoid comparing the two phones like that, they are obviously not the same. If they were you wouldn't have to go through this much effort.
You will have to adjust the brightness manually (in case you haven't already). With scanning a barcode off the phone don't rely on the phone's ability to auto adjust based on your previous brightness settings for the level of light present.
Do you have screen protector? Perhaps different phones/screen protectors have different reflection levels.
Hello,
So I am adjusting the phone of my little brother, the problem is that his SIM card is blocked.
So without doing anything on purpose, I realized that there was a little bug that would let anyone have access to your phone without entering the SIM card PIN code! Nice security OOS13!
Watch this..
I don't think this is normal.
Edit: Maybe it should work on OOS12 too, since it's because of Google Assistant on the power button.
Edit: I changed the action to power menu instead of the assistant to prevent it.
if the sim card is blocked why not just remove it instead of doing that!? seems pretty dumb to me lol
Well i also have os13 I'll chk
Unless it has bee manual changed, on my fully 9 pro, fully stock A12 - On os12, the default action for power button is to launch the camera, click and hold launches the NFC payment cards stored on the phone.
I attempted to copy what you did.
The pin entry screen you used, is that from a cold start? Meaning is that the one that appears when you turn the phone on?
Great find through, hopefully it will work for others on A13!

Indeed it's a great find.
Did you set a SIM PUK lock pin or just a pin passcode? With google assistant on. I believe the video is showing the SIM PUK lock as attached. I will turn on assistant for a11 and report back.
Edit: I created a power button macro on Android 11 to open assistant, it does not bypass the PUK

Not really a fresh start since I first used the phone without SIM card, then put the SIM card in, and discovered the bug.
Edit: Even after a restart of the phone, so a fresh start, it works... I don't know what the reason behind this...

My guess is they had a big brain idea at the end and said "let's add google assistant to the power button!" And integrated it too low in system loading. On a11, I can't get the macro to do anything before puk code, probably as it's not got system loaded yet. But in (a12 supposedly has an option in pixel phones for long press assistant also )a13+, that assistant is integrated as system. In A11, It's locked down. I didn't try with my password removed so it can be unencrypted, maybe it would load some of the system.
At any rate, it's a really funny find and if it's existed since a12/a13 and nobody has mentioned it, that may tell us how many people use the sim lock.
Did you try it on a reboot with a regular pin/passcode on the device as well?

Maybe, we will probably never know why...
I did not, I've removed the macro because I don't want the phone to be open to everyone, now it's in my brother's hands!
