Or maybe not, I'm not sure, take it to a service, or wait for someone else in here to give you some advice if they really know how to solve the issue.
I'm hoping so!!!

Not sure what you mean by trusted forum. Trying a different app won't tell you or fix the issue. As mentioned above it seemed to be hardware issue. Factory reset the phone; if that does not fix the camera, then you need a new camera.
i have don all the above steps bt nothing happens and the camera is new !!! So if it is an hardware problem what it can be and how can i detect it i dnont think that it is a matherboard problem??????????

It looks like a bad sensor. Is it happening consistently in different camera apps? What happens if you try a camera app such as Camera360 that lets you alter the ISO (in normal mode)?
If possible, can you upload samples taken against a solid white background under even lighting?
Please, anyone??? i have the same problem.... i've changed the camera, still fail
sounds like a hardware issue gents.

I had the exact same issue on HTC G2, it's indeed hardware. The great news is it's just a mechanical issue: Push on the camera, perpendicular to the battery case (straight into the phone). It will fix this issue.
Lots of success with this method at androidforums. I cannot post a link, but google "androidforums evo camera 152727"
Cheers

+1. I had this with all three of the G1's I owned, and I had it with my G2 not too long ago. Not sure why this keeps happening, but just put the phone screen down on a table, and push down on the camera. One of the strangest fixes ever but hey, whatever works!
Hi, new to the forum searched all over the forum to resolve this issue but i don't know what is causing the issue... i got a similar post but it is not the same problem pink/red/spot on camera.
i have note 2, with otterbox defender cover but i dropped it.. now i have this pink light on the corner of camera app, i have attached images and screen shot of the problem... i tried the following
1. tried replacing the camera module
2. resetting the ISO setting
3. using different app
can anyone help me resolve this problem thanks
I guess this is hardware problem in the camera it self that would need to be replaced..
If you think this is software problem, why not trying to format the phone and install aosp ROM for example and test it

Are you getting any type of error message when you try to use the duo effects?

You haven't edited it in any way? Not using zoom or any modes other than auto? Go into the camera app itself and clear data, then try and see if you can use duo effects on a picture you've taken.

It won't work if your camera is set to HDR

lol ive had this one for 3 days. oh well.
Try reseting the device. Are you running 4.4.3 or 4.4.4?
Literally just replaced my phone under warranty because of this problem, and the replacement has the same problem. My GF just got a Verizon M8 running 4.4.4 and her camera works fine. I'm currently running 4.4.2
=(

Ok, I think the issue is with the update to the HTC Gallery App. I have the exact same issue, but if I go into Settings > Apps > Gallery > Uninstall Updates everything works fine. As soon as I install the update for Gallery again I get the same error when applying Duo effects.
I've manually upgraded to the latest ROM, but for some reason, the "Crop-me-in" feature in the camera doesn't appear to be there?
I haven't found any posts on the interwebs about this and wondered if it was a carrier detected option (I'm on an NVNO) or if it just didn't ship/was pulled?
In the camera, from the demo's I saw, you click on the 4 small circles in the square and it should be an option there- but I only have 5 options and none of them are "Crop-me-in".
Any one else seeing this?
I was missing that feature too. I got it yesterday when camera app updated. It's fun to play with, though it's still a beta so it needs some polishing.

After multiple HTC app updates it suddenly appeared as "Crop me in Beta"-
BUT, after I take the picture, it doesn't seem to actually merge the images (just has the front facing pic in the corner of the back facing pic)... Pretty useless.

The HTC camera app in the play store does not appear in my phone. But if I click a link direct to the HTC camera app, it says its not compatible? Why is there an error? Should I update my gallery? I have not updated the HTC gallery because it removes the Zoe features built in . please help

Any Camera app errors when switched to front facing camera. Snapchat also become unresponsive when switched to front facing camera. After many months of trying to figure out why, I've come to the conclusion that I must not have a front facing camera! I found this ridiculous since the G3 was advertised with one and even states on the T-Mobile site that it has one. I gave up on continuously clearing the app's cache and switched to google camera. (Its easier to switch to front camera on stock app than google cam) so as long as I didn't switch into the front camera the app worked fine and pictures with the rear camera are beautiful! I don't even get the blueish tint that many others get. After the lollipop update I can't even access my camera apps without them erroring or becoming unresponsive. Why would I be having so many troubles with a much anticipated cell phone that I tried very hard to attain? I would absotutelylutely love some help with this! I kinda need this phone to last me in good condition throughout college. Any and all help would be appreciated!
Thank you.

I am not rooted, stock lollipop update from T-MOBILE.
You were 100% stock and not rooted and took the update?....have you talked to tmo?

No, not yet. I wanted to see what someone here on XDA would know about it first. Maybe if rooting would be a good idea? But yeah I see what you're saying. I should probably check with T-Mobile.
