I am a complete newbie to modding my phone. I have an AT&T HTC One X with 2.2 build. I was able to successfully root the phone and install TWRP v2.8.1.0. I have downloaded CM10.2.1 and attempted to flash using the TWRP recovery but I get the following error E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/cm-10-2-1-endeavoru.zip'. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind I am a newbie so I may need dumbed down instructions.
Try CM11...
Regnas, I tried CM11 and still got the same error.

Nexus 7 of HELLBoy
Cant help without more info. What rom and how are you trying to install?
If you have verified root, and know that you are, try using the el26 cwm to flash...
But someguyatx is absolutely correct. You're post is way to vague for anyone to really help you.

As MoHoGalore and someguyatx you are giving almost no information.
What ROM and version were you on?
What ROM were you trying to flash?
What method were you using to flash? CWM or Odin
Sounds like you were possibly trying to use an improper recovery (ROM Manager or older Touch Recover) OR tried to install the 'update.zip' on a ROM that wouldn't pass the upgrade process tests.
Why not use one of sfhub's One-Click Odin Stock+Root installs and you will at least get a stock rooted system? Then use his Autoroot to add a safe CWM with which you can then safely and easily flash ROMs.
Either way a WHOLE lot more information would be helpful if you want some real solutions.
I believe this indicates that your recovery is not safe to flash....
First of all, please excuse my noobishness. Please show some compassion
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III, AT&T rooted, not having luck installing ROM. I've tried CM and it errors out.
The goal is to upgrade from Android version 4.0.4.
I have ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.7 if that makes any difference.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Installing update....
set_perm: some changes failed
E: Error in /data/media/cm-10.2.0-d2att.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
You may need to update your boot loader..... Not sure though.
Sent from my d2lte using xda app-developers app
The status 7 error can be caused by an outdated recovery which, in your case, wouldn't be the case.
You need to make sure that your bootloader is supported by the rom you want to install. You can find the rom's supported bootloader in the rom's updater script file.

You can update the bootloader but, for CM-based ROMs, you can update to a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 bootloader and it should work. I wouldn't update to the latest 4.3 bootloader unless you have to.
I'm trying to get my HTC M8 back to stock so I can get the new 4.4.3 update, however, I am unable to find the stock kernel for my device.
It is software version 1.54.401.10.
I flashed to the elementalx kernel and put on a TWRP recovery.
I am able to download the update but when it installs, it just goes into recovery.
I made a backup of the original kernel a few months ago however it doesn't seem to be on my phone anymore.
When I look for stock kernels they all seem to be different versions than my device.
Can someone give me a bit of advice?
There are numerous guides for other versions but none mentions my software version.
Any kernel doesn't matter.
Your problem is you don't flash stock recovery.
TWRP or any custom recovery don't work for OTA.

How can I put the stock recovery back?
I put the stock recovery on and tried to update however I get a red triangle with an exclamation mark now...
why's it not taking properly?
I'm new to this obviously. I've figured out that's just how the stock recovery is. Now I'm trying to figure out why the ota doesn't work with the stock recovery.
I get this error when I try to install the update.
/system/lib/modules/adsprpc.ko has unexpected contents. Installation aborted.

This means that something of the system has been changed by you, so the ckecksum of the OTA doesn't match the configuration of your system and thus abort the installation process.

This means your ROM is modified, not pure stock.
I suggest you make a backup with your current ROM and restore the pure stock backup that I posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54564526#post54564526
1. flash back the TWRP recovery
2. make backup of your current one
3. restore pure stock backup that I linked above
4. flash stock recovery
5. reboot then do the OTA

@robgo please close this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/ota-update-4-4-3-t2856172. To open up two threads to aks the same question doesn't help to get to a solution any faster ....
Regarding the error. It means what @ckpv5 and I already told you.

Oh ok, I didn't know the kernel apparently doesn't matter when doing OTA's and here I am telling him to go back to stock kernel because it's a kernel related error he has...
Best I keep out of this one then, I never even flashed another kernel.

Right ... it's kernel related error but to be precised, it's the kernel module error.
Flashing a stock kernel without flashing stock module, the same error will occur.
Guys,
I need help regarding root of Stock ROM Lollipop. 5.0.
I unlocked boot loader, flashed twrp recovery but when it comes to flash rooting tools (Android revolution hd rooting tool) it does not flash and does not root the ROM. In recovery it says failed/ unable to mount cache ...
Am I doing something wrong or it the zip file which may not be compatible with stock rom?
Do you guys have any zip file which can root stock rom or the best would be if there is any rom already rooted but not modified. I like to stick to stock rom but want to get rid of bloatware.
I appreciate any advice, help or solution which may you provide to me.
Please do not ask me to search on google or XDA because I already did it and bother many people in the specific forums. As a result that they could not provide me with the solution I was forced to write in Help& Troubleshooting forum.
all the best,

Don't use a tool.
Download the update SuperSU.zip from here and flash it in recovery.
After the flash, find SuperSU in your app drawer and open it. You will be prompted to update binaries. Do that.
That's it. You are rooted.

I second that. The tool used by the OP is probably not updated to work on Lollipop.
Also, OP should make sure to run an updated version of TWRP (2.8.7) as anything but the last few (several?) versions of TWRP will not work on the Lollipop hboot.

OTA updates are for ROMs that are completely stock. If you have root, it will fail. If you have TWRP it will fail.
