HTC Desire is Bricked

Hi,
I know there are a lot of other Threads about Bricked Phones but I swear, I've tried everything.
My Phone is S-Off and I had the CM7 Rom on my device.
For a Friend, who wants to buy my phone, I tried the "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release"
and know i got the black htc screen with the 4 exclamation marks in each corner.
My Phone was original from o2 so I tried the o2 Ruu but that didn't work either.
Also My Device is with the SLCD-Screen.
I also have a Goldcard but the Goldcard seems not very helpful to me.
When I try to flash a Rom with Ruu it tells me the Error 110 on the PC and on my phone appears that

I'm not so experienced like you with the whole development-stuff.
When I change something on my device I read something in threads and try it step by step but i don't really understand what I'm doing like most people.
I understand its annoying to answer the same problems so often but i would appreciate it if you could help me one more time.

Aww you're being so nice. I wanted to give you another clue, but ok...
You have the CM7 R2 hboot. This is too small for a sense rom, the /system partition will not accomodate the /system of a sense rom. Which is why you see the [fail]
Because the hboot is write protected, the RUU couldn't over write it with the stock hboot first.
What you need to do is download the downgrade.img from alpharev and fastboot flash it as a hboot.
Then you can simply run the RUU again.

follow the red link in my signature for my guides. There is an adb and fastboot faq. Ignore the adb part as its irrelevant.
This will tell you how to use fastboot. Most people tend to go for using the windows application that is linked in there.

Is the bravo_downgrade.img only 512kb small?
i tried it with the android flasher.
When i plug my phone off the usb its shows my device is know s-on (so good for that).
But the Ruu.exe don't work.
Still stuck on the exclamationmark screen.
Now I still got a Goldcard. To use it, do i have to put the goldcard only in my device and run the ruu.exe again or do I have to do something different?
I got the failure 131 in the Ruu Update-Window

Does anybody know what else i can do?

You just put the goldcard in and RUU. Or use the 2.3.3 from the HTCdev.com as it doesn't need a goldcard

I've treid everything i could find but non of them worked.
I bought my desire in Germany with an O2-Contract. Originally is was a froyo rom.

Still hanging on the exclamation mark screen.

Well the fact that you're S-ON would in fact suggest that it has worked (kinda a d'uuh moment there).. tried different RUU? tried 2.3.3 RUU?
all the advice that one can give to you has already been given. put it into practise.

Really need help guys, phone relocked and stuck on bootloader

Hi everyone,
I hope I can get some kind hearted people to help me with my problem! :crying: I am selling my One X and have followed a step by step guide to Unroot the device. It now shows as Relocked on the bootloader. However, the phone wont boot up the OS and just reboots to the bootloader again. Here are some pics:

Yep, you need to flash RUU to return it to stock, just by relocking the bootloader it doesn't unroot

yep, what network were you on, was yours a branded handset or unbranded, can you run fastboot commands from your pc on the phone, try running fastboot oem getvar cid
that will tell you what brand your one x is and help you flash the right RUU
My Sensation had the same thing happen to it when i first relocked the bootloader, i almost cried because it wouldn't boot, but thankfully i fixed it by flashing the RUU. you learn from your mistakes :good:

Thanks for the helpful info mate. Yes I am pulling my hair out thinking my phone is bricked!
I am on UK Tmobile, it was branded (tmob splash screen). I am downloading the RUU: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_TMO_UK_1.28.110.7_R2_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_256500_signed.exe
I assume this one will work. I am using a mac but have a PC to use the exe file. Download speed is at 50kb/s though

brilliant, that should work then, definitely run it on PC not mac
its not exactly bricked, its just that you relocked the bootloader, so in simple terms the security warning is there because the phone is now locked, it checks the whole phone when it boots, and its recognizing something isn't stock, so goes into bootloader with a warning. Flashing RUU returns everything to stock so that should in wipe off whatever is causing the security warning.
Post back how it goes and good luck !

[Q] red triangle bootloader still unlocked

Hi
I unrooted my htc one x as i have to return it back to htc for wifi issues.
I had a nandroid backup of the stock rom which was taken just after i rooted for the first time. So i've flashed this back via clockwork and everything works fine.
To get it back to stock as much as possible, I've removed SU.
I'm now at the stage where Ive gone back to stock recovery but not yet relocked the bootloader.
My question is - when I go into stock recovery, i get a red triangle and exclamation mark - is that normal? or is it because the bootloader is still unlocked?

Wasn't confident in running that and also didn't think that I needed to as I had the stock rom and boot.img
What will the RUU do? will it also lock the bootloader?

The red triangle is not bad. If you push vol + and power button you will enter stock recovery. I hear that's its because stock recovery can't mount sd card.
You will also see 3 error lines at the bottom. Those have to do with sd card mounting problems !
No biggie , mine is the same but works perfectly

The main reason that i was concerned by this is because i have to send it back to htc for a warranty repair. Assuming they will put it into recovery at some point - they may see the red triangle and be concerned that it has been rooted?

Hello. To get rid kf the triangle, download [root] triangle away. The app will delete the triangle and you will be able to send it back

That's for Samsung devices, the red triangle is stock recovery for HTC devices
As said, once at the red triangle press power + volume up and you'll get something similar to this...

The best way to get back to stock, though, is to flash the RUU that's correct for your device

An RUU can be started from your pc when your phone is fastboot mode. I did it actually but now i still have the red triangle and i cant put my phone in silent mode with my volume key anny suggestions

Anny Idea how I can get my volume key back to normal or prevent my phone from rebboting manually. ( the longer I have it the more bugs I get)

Mine I Relocked but wich RUU should I have then? This is what I used

unrooting and relocking is pointless cause they will see that you've unlocked your bootloader...

Well, you're wrong.
According to some service centres (and some HTC reps), unlocking the bootloader isn't what invalidates your warranty, installing custom firmware is.
When you restore the software, they may not also want to replace the motherboard at your cost.
This varies from service centre to service centre, but why not increase your chances of less pain?

Yeah but in every case they will know that you have unlocked the bootloader, then they will decide if it is an HW problem or a SW problem

HTC one M8 wont update, boot to recovery or factory reset. Help please :)

Yesterday I started trying to root my phone, needless to say it didn't go too well. As the title says, I'm unable to access recovery mode, and this morning when I tried to update to andriod 6.0, that wouldn't work either.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader, I think. It says unlocked in bootloader anyway. I have now relocked it to see if it will update with a locked bootloader.
Okay, so to describe what happens when I try to boot into recovery: The HTC logo shows up for a second or so, then the screen goes black and I have to boot it up from start. Also, I noticed, don't know if this is relevant, but in order for me to get into bootloader I have to hold vol down and power for at least 20 seconds, that does't seem normal to me.
I have downloaded a RUU from an HTC site(can't link, first post), but of course that wont install because im S-ON, which I don't know what it means. Anyway, the RUU wizard tells me to get the corret one, even though im fairly sure I am using the correct one.
my CID is HTC__Y13, do't know if that is going to help.
When trying to root I followed the htconeroot websites guide. again can't link :/
I have no idea what to do from here, if anyone who actually knows how these things work could help me, I would apreciate it greatly.

Oh, also my battery is almost fully charged, still says 0mv... Don't know why, maybe somehow my phone incorrectly detects that my battery is too low when trying to run recover/update and quits because of low battery level?

You don't post serial and imei so you don't get your phone stolen. Those numbers can let someone report the phone as stolen, and have it become rejected by the carriers and such. As for the main issue you have, I'm S-OFF personally, so I flash everything manually. I haven't dealt with much of anything with S-ON aside from pure stock which does everything on it's own.

Because those are personal info .. bad people can use the data to hack or something. So it's best not to post them.
The battery show as 0 on getvar result is normal ...
back to your problem ....
Your device is not a M8 but a different device called M8s
So the custom recovery that you installed most probably for M8 and definitely won't work on M8s.
And be frank with you, I am not familiar with your kind of device. There is a separate thread for M8s - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general

My bootloader is locked and I can't unlock it again since I have used the wrong recovery mod... So I can't just flash the recovery mode now, can I?
Could I use the RUU to somehow restore my recovery mode ? That would be great.

You can unlock the bootloader again with the same unlock_code.bin that you applied to HtcDev.
This time use correct TWRP meant for M8s to root it. You can find it in that M8s thread.
I don't know whether there is RUU for your software version. As I mentioned above, those people in M8s thread know better.
Since your device is not rooted (most probably), why don't you do the update from 1.21.401.1 to Marshmallow 2.10.401.1 ?
You just need to reflash the stock recovery but you need to find either 1.21.401.1 0r 2.10.401.1 stock recovery.img

Well the problem is I can't reflash since my bootloader is locked, and I can't unlock my bootloader because whenever I go into the "do you really want to unlock bootloader" screen and say yes, it shows the HTC logo and then turns off again... Very frustrating.
I know I'm currently in the wrong section, but since I already have your attention and the fact that you seem to know your stuff, what do you think I should do?

OK .. you need to flash 1.21.401.1 signed firmware.zip
I'll try to find one (hopefully is available) but I'll do this tomorrow. It's already 1.45 am here .. I need to rest soon.
Meantime try to search/google 1.21.401.1 OTA.zip or firmware.zip. If you can find one (but make sure it is for M8s not M9 or any other device) .. you just need to run these command to flash it.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
you'll see error
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (one more time)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
this should fix your problem . your problem now is wrong recovery installed but unable to reinstall correct recovery alone because bootloader is relocked.

If there is a newer one 2.10.401.1 yes you can use, you can't use older version than 1.21.401.1 like 1.11.401.1 or 1.11.401.10 , higher version is ok.

It seems like the generic fastboot.exe is not working for this. You should try using the htc_fastboot.exe
https://ruu.lalleman.net/HTC_M8S(QL_UL)/Tools/Fastboot/
put the htc_fastboot.exe in your fastboot folder, then try again with commands
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
error...
repeat htc_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
If this also fails, the last thing that you can do (you need microSD) ...
rename the firmware.zip to 0PKVIMG.zip (that's a zero not "O")
put 0PKVIMG.zip on your microSD (not in any folder)
on bootloader select hboot
it will scan the file and ask whether to update
volume up to update
once completed reboot
(remember to remove this 0PKVIMG.zip from microSD after reboot)

Most probably the HTC encryption on the htc signed firmware.zip only can be read by htc_fastboot.exe
Great that you solved your problem .. you should update to the latest Marshmallow 2.10.401.1
As this is M8s device matter, I requested moderator to move this thread to M8s section

when i type "htc_fastboo oem rebootRUU" it restarting normally and bootloop

htc m8s stock in bootloader, no ruu mode, no twrp possible, os 1.21.111.1

hello to all friends of XDA.
im not new but i lost my old email. :silly:
i have a htc one m8s thats stuck in bootloader with os version 1.21.111.1 from T-mobile DE.
the problem is that i try to flash the unlock token, flashing the file, i select accept on the screen phone but when the phone restarts the booloader is still locked.
i try to flash a stock recovery (not the same as the os version, because i didnt find it) but it still doesnt work.
i try ti find the last ruu or stock rom version 1.21.111.1 or even the firmware but i didnt find it.
however when i try to boot to RUU mode it doesnt reboot in RUU mode.
i try every steep with the new htc_fastboot. but i dont use the md5 verification or any md5 file (because i dont know how)
i would like to have the phone working even with Lineage os or something like.
please if someone can help me please let me know the steeps.

htc one m8 , i see on twrp says All variants , gsm i think also SO this means any htc m8 will take twrp right ?? any model or carrier ect ??
wanna buy this phone only if twrp good to go and root

Htc one m8s is not the same as m8 you cant apply this version of twrp , just dl and flash it in the thread below, and then flash supersu and you will get root and twrp

Did you get the phone in a locked, or unlocked state?
If locked, did you use Sunshine or a HTC unlock (the former option costs $$ and I would't recommend fabricated keys as they can break the device).
T-Mobile DE - a german version of the phone, or US version with German settings?
To reboot in RUU, you'll need to do so through ADB, while connected to a computer.
In order to run RUU, you actually have to re-lock the bootloader if it's unlocked. You also need to disable SuperCID, if it is enabled.
Do you have any more details? I was going to suggest a website that @graffixnyc used to keep updates on, but I don't see the list of files there anymore.
I bought mine three years ago and I feel bad that your outcome is like this.

The files are still there, they are just under Development Portfolio -> XDA Development Work -> Rom Development. http://graffixnyc.com/m8.php
