Hi
I unrooted my htc one x as i have to return it back to htc for wifi issues.
I had a nandroid backup of the stock rom which was taken just after i rooted for the first time. So i've flashed this back via clockwork and everything works fine.
To get it back to stock as much as possible, I've removed SU.
I'm now at the stage where Ive gone back to stock recovery but not yet relocked the bootloader.
My question is - when I go into stock recovery, i get a red triangle and exclamation mark - is that normal? or is it because the bootloader is still unlocked?
Thanks
Manny
Why don't you just run an RUU?
Hi
Wasn't confident in running that and also didn't think that I needed to as I had the stock rom and boot.img
What will the RUU do? will it also lock the bootloader?
Any idea of an easy guide and which RUU i will need?
Thanks
Manny
The red triangle is not bad. If you push vol + and power button you will enter stock recovery. I hear that's its because stock recovery can't mount sd card.
You will also see 3 error lines at the bottom. Those have to do with sd card mounting problems !
No biggie , mine is the same but works perfectly

The main reason that i was concerned by this is because i have to send it back to htc for a warranty repair. Assuming they will put it into recovery at some point - they may see the red triangle and be concerned that it has been rooted?
thanks

anyone with any suggestions? do i just ignore it?
Hello. To get rid kf the triangle, download [root] triangle away. The app will delete the triangle and you will be able to send it back

That's for Samsung devices, the red triangle is stock recovery for HTC devices
As said, once at the red triangle press power + volume up and you'll get something similar to this...

The best way to get back to stock, though, is to flash the RUU that's correct for your device
so its not necessarily a problem?
is there a good guide on flashing the ruu??

Well, you're wrong.
According to some service centres (and some HTC reps), unlocking the bootloader isn't what invalidates your warranty, installing custom firmware is.
When you restore the software, they may not also want to replace the motherboard at your cost.
This varies from service centre to service centre, but why not increase your chances of less pain?

Yeah but in every case they will know that you have unlocked the bootloader, then they will decide if it is an HW problem or a SW problem

Your phone isn't rooted. How did you manage to flash recovery onto it in first place?
Search for advanced ace hack kit on xda. Read a LOT about how to use it and once ready, let the kit do its thing. After that you'll be S OFF and able to flash any custom ROM.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD with Beats Audio using XDA App
He unlocked it using the official HTC dev tool. It allows you to flash a custom recovery.
This is an obligatory to the op. Please research before you go and do stuff to your phone. I just don't get how someone will take a risk on there phones.
The reason it didn't boot is because you have to flash the boot image seperately. One simply can't just flash a rom, in cwr and call it a day if you did it using HTC tool.
What you need to do is. Boot back.into hboot select fastboot.
Take the boot image from your rom and place in your folder where fastboot and adb are located.
Then run the command
Fastboot flash boot boot.Img
Fastboot reboot
Its not working

Run a fitting RUU, relock your Bootloader and use AAHK afterwards.
(if you would have taken some time to get into this stuff, you wouldn't be messed up right now "Official HTC Unlock" is not that brilliant compared to AAHK ).
You say you don't know which RUU to use.
Where did you buy your phone? Was/Is it branded?

Get your device into bootloader and choose fastboot. Try to run the RUU again.

Ok, another idea:
You have that stock RUU fitting your phone?
Open explorer here: C:\Users\"YOUR USERNAME"\Appdata\Local\Temp\
Then Run the RUU, it will extract the files to some folder in here, you will see it pop up when opening the RUU (or you run it and simply use search).
Inside there'll be a "rom.zip".

Rename it to PD98IMG.zip, push it to your SD card (in root, not into a folder) and boot your phone into bootloader.
It should check the file and then you have to select "yes" to flash it. Should be fine after it.

thx I tried to do this before but it keeps tell wrong Image
So you're a hundred percent sure, that you've got a fitting image? Cant believe that it would block a fitting image that method.
Which version did you try? Most recent one?
And BTW: would be great it you would tell before what you already tried instead of letting me explain it and then say "oh i already did that"
DN41
EDIT: I guess it doesnt take the Rom because of the high hboot version (yours is somewhere around 2, "normal" ones around 0.84). Maybe it would be the best to contact HTC's Support regarding that you used their official unlock instead of AAHK.

brilliant, that should work then, definitely run it on PC not mac
its not exactly bricked, its just that you relocked the bootloader, so in simple terms the security warning is there because the phone is now locked, it checks the whole phone when it boots, and its recognizing something isn't stock, so goes into bootloader with a warning. Flashing RUU returns everything to stock so that should in wipe off whatever is causing the security warning.
Post back how it goes and good luck !

Here's my issue, I bought a One X not long ago, noticed it was S-Off but still went ahead n unlocked Bootloader, dunno if I should have given fact I got S-Off ... Started flashing tons of ROMs .... Am seriously considering going stock with latest 2.17 RUU, thus loosing my ROOT and EVERYTHING !!! Ok all SD is backed up to my HDD ... But still I have no idea ... This is annoying ... Living in total darkness .. Am a n00b coming from iOS the main Android competitor ...

1. You didn't need to unlock the bootloader if you have S-OFF, you can just flash anything you want

Just thought I'd share my experience for anyone else wondering. I originally sent my phone in a week ago. Did the express option. After shipping the phone back received an email about two days later with the title" Your HTC quotation is ready". After clicking the link I see a that the quote is for $290, and the reason is illegal software.
Before sending my phone off all I did was a wipe. My phone was sent unlocked and rooted with ARHD 8.0 Rom and TWRP still intact. I called HTC the next day and filed a "quotation dispute ticket". They asked my reason and I said basically the screen was cracked due to physical damage and clearly no software installed on the phone had any impact on that. Got a call last Thursday (July 3rd) from an HTC repair manager. He apologized for the inconvenience and stated that after reviewing the phone he could see that it was unlocked but was still running HTC Sense rom, and was not overclocked or altered in other ways. Due to this they would honor the screen replacement. Got an email this morning saying the phone was sent out next day air, and should receive tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks HTC! I think the main issue they see is people installing GPE based roms or overclocking. It seems pretty standard that any unlocking will automatically red flag the phone and shoot out an automated quotation email for the $290. I think simply opening the dispute has someone take a deeper look into your issue and more times and none HTC will honor the replacement.
Hope this helps!:fingers-crossed:

up to you mate - but why take the risk for a quick return to stock?
you'll see other people in that same thread have had huge problems trying to get repair under warranty.

I want to return it back to stock, but im not 100% on the steps i should take, and I currently dont have a Windows machine to work on, i could borrow one later today.
First remove the tempered flag then return bootloader to LOCKED not relocked and finally run the ruu to get full stock unrooted

Same old same old....now i ask you which ruu !? Do you know if its there. Do you have a 2.22.401 international ruu (if he is on that official main) ? No because its not there. All available ruu's are for sprint/Verizon/tmobile....so stop referring to ruu's in the international forum !
For the OP
Check my nandroid backup thread

So i should remove the tempered flag then return bootloader to locked, after all that flash one of your nandroid backups? i have an ATT device btw.
Check your software number and cid. That's first to know ! Then compare and check if there is a matching nandroid or ruu (for AT&T) gather your information first. And NEVER relock/lock your bootloader before you know what you are doing. In regarding of restoring a nandroid backup relocking/locking the bootloader is the very LAST step you take in the process.

You can check in the settings menu - about - software the version you are running now. If the 502 is the same you can take any of those 2 with the matching stock recovery and even perform ota again. You can also check in the AT&T threads if there is a ruu available. But without s-off you can't downgrade the hboot. With a nandroid backup you can, because the hboot will be untouched and you "just" run a lower software.

I dont see that, im guessing its because im running GPE, so just picking the correct one will flash back to 100% stock even recovery?
Check your main and cid via fastboot commands. Described in the OP of my backup thread.
Recently sent my phone in for an exchange. Set to complete stock, locked bootloader, and unrooted. Happy to say I got my phone back in a week.

Don't worry, that is your stock recovery, but to be able to access it and reboot the device, press POWER button and volume up, try it at the same time, that combination will open your stock recovery.
If it doesn't work, press volume up, keep it pressed and then POWER button, if not keep POWER button pressed and press volume up, one of this combinations will do the trick

You are not really telling us where it gives you the triangle phone screen, is it when you enter the recovery, is it when you full reboot the phone, is it when you enter the bootloader.
1: Is you phone's bootloader unlocked ?
2: do you have s-off
3: post the outcome of :
Fastboot getvar all
And delete the serial and imei before posting the info !
Hey Guy's
LOCKED Boxed ORANGE phone lads get it back in a few days looking for the RRU what's the first step to take then back in to Recovery and thanks guys for your help so upset with HTC big time.
Phone LOCKED Security on HTC M8 New LOCKED
sorry it's when I reboot the phone then I have to get in Recovery Mode format it still the same and recovery the same
Thanks Lads
Locked and new, stop tinkering because it should fall under 100% warranty !
If it's out of warranty you can unlock the bootloader and flash another rom or re-install the current stock one (if it's available)
Let's start with the third question i asked you in my previous post.
