hi guys!
i just got my s4 mini and overall i'm very happy.
flashed cm11 m12 the first thing i did.
i came from a nexus s which was painfully slow.
however there is one thing that disturbs me and that's the vibrator.
it works and all that but it feels like it's "too slow" or have very few RPM. if you know what i mean?
the vibration on the nexus s was very "fast" and solid.
if i compare the two phones it feels like when i press a button on the nexus s the vibrator does 10-15 "spins" where as the s4 mini only does like max 5 but in the same time frame. like it's tired or something.
is this totally hardware limited or is there a way to change it?
i found this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49813458&postcount=16
does this change the "rpm" of the vibrator or just the "power"?
i guess i could learn how to decompile framework-res and try different settings but i thought maybe some of you guys have already tried it and know if it is futile or not?
or could it be that my vibrator simply is damaged in some way?
i would really appreciate your input on this!
thanks!

Hello dear XDA Users ,
Since Yesterday I switched from an Galaxy S to an HTC Desire HD (YAY 4.3 Inch )
I just love this Phone but one thing is making me crazy and I hope you guys can make me calm down:
The Touchscreen is not as Responsive as the SuperAmoled from my old Samsung. This means that when I was trying to use least pressure to move from 1 Homescreen to the other with my Galaxy S it was working. I tried the same thing with my Desire and it has no / less reaction than my Galaxy. I hope I could explain nicely what makes me Mad.
Thanks in Advance for the Replys
PS: This is just my old school English, hope you guys forgive me
PS 2: Maybe it sounds fussy for you Guys but this Phone was expensive and I just want to make Sure that I did an upgrade from Galaxy to Desire HD
They use different digitisers. The one from the Galaxy S is probably more sensitive.

That's right. It's not a problem, like the SGS is better or something. It's just different. Some people, including me,are more annoyed by an oversensitive screen.I for one am ok!
Compared to my Omnia, the DHD is hyper sensitive!
Yeah I agree, sometimes I do not even have to physically touch the screen, and it registers a touch. If Samsung is MORE sensitive, I do not even want to try it
I've used both the DHD and SGS and found them to be equal in sensitivity. That could just be me.

I think dhd is too sensitive. I'd like it has the possibility to decrease the sensibility of the touch... it works without any touch
Anyway welcome on board! This is one of the most interesting and powerful phone on the market.
to be honest it is the best phone ever. and you will get on to use it

Hey guys
What a great phone and good looking development is happening, but one problem compared to my old San Francisco, The vibration isn't as "vibing" as it but i've used apps that use vibration and it can vibrate quite alot, any way of changing the vibration level? also Like others Sound on calls is very low, any fix yet?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jamie
I don't know the answer.....
but as a former Blade/OSF owner, I am interested to know how you rate this device by comparison....
Wasn't the Blade just so easy to customize? and, with a load of Custom ROM's, so easy to upgrade, etc.
Sent from my GT-I8150 using Tapatalk
The Blade was quite easy to customize and yeah it was all easy to use and upgrade, but mine had some issues with it before I got my Samsung W rendering the SF useless :/
But Im amazed my how quick development for the W has come along, and I think the W is better than the blade but my only wish if for more RAM in the Samsung W

Hi!
My iPhone 4 contract recently finished, and so a couple of weeks ago I acquired a HTC One X.
Most things work well - it's noticeably nowhere near as polished as the iPhone UI was, but I'm only on a 12 month contract, so I can live with it.
One thing that is really bugging me is that notifications on the iPhone caused the screen to turn on, which I found really useful. Is there the option to do this on the One X?
Also, can I make it repeat notifications x number of times if I don't immediately notice it?
Thanks in advance!
Thomas
At the moment, no on both counts. Whether there's an app to do it I don't know
I don't believe there's built-in functionality for those, but as you'll probably discover over time you can get into a lot more of the phone's inner workings and get the funtionality via apps — that's the beauty of Android.
Here are a couple to look at:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.igecelabs.android.MissedIt
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow
I'm confident you'll find more with a little sifting though.
As for the overall UI polish, this is an aside but I was a little disappointed too when I switched from my iPhone 4 to the One X. However, the moment I installed regular Android Ice Cream Sandwich (specifically one of the WIP Cyanogenmod 9 ports) I realised that HTC actually aren't that great at UI because almost every single change they make is for the worse.
Indeed, most parts of the phone look and feel better without HTC's add-ons. Even the menus look better, losing that weird 'breaking apart' effect HTC chose to use. The contact editing, messaging, etc is so much cleaner too, and everything like swiping between pages feels smoother. Here's a guide that shows what the more stock experience looks like:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc...android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-1043150/review
But that might be a step too far for you. It was my first ever time using a custom ROM and it only took me a few hours to get my head around and pull off, so it's up to you.
Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it!
It has been a while since I've flashed a new ROM on to a phone - I had a HTC TyTN II a few years ago (that was an awful phone) which I had a few custom roms.
I might start looking at custom roms soon. My brother has a Galaxy Nexus which I believe has the stock Android UI, so maybe I'll play around on that for a bit to see what it's like.
Thanks again!

Hello world,
I currently have a galaxy s2, running lollipop. I've stretched out the use of this puppy pretty far, but I've decided it's time to upgrade. At first I figured I'd go with something like an s5, but then I discovered the g3. It looks great, but of course the biggest design difference is the rear buttons. I can tell from reading that g3 owners really love it, but I don't have access to get my hands on one, and I'm hesitant to make the jump.
If I get one, I'll definitely root it, and I may install a custom ROM. Do custom ROMs still support the "knock on" feature? Would it work natively for most ROMs, or would I have to be careful about finding a ROM that supports it? Having that feature definitely makes the rear buttons less daunting. Does the knock-on feature eat up battery life?
I also like using my side volume keys to take pictures instead of the screen; does the rear button help with taking pictures, or is it easier to use the touchscreen?
I've never even used a navbar before, so jumping from all hard buttons to the g3 bezel is a big change for me.
Anything else I should know to help me decide?
Thanks for the advice!
I had a S2(plus) before i got the G3, you will get used to the back buttons pretty quick.
The rear buttons are good for non-landscape photos like selfies.
Some custom roms have the knock on feature, but they are based on the lg stock rom.
Also, you can find the G3 pretty cheap nowadays so if you are looking for great performance and good battery life(on MM) get the G3.
(Also, if you can, try to get the 32gb model as it comes with 3gb of ram)
E: the navbar will feel wierd at first as the back button is on the left side, this can be changed in the settings.

Knock on has worked on every Rom I have tried, and I've tried a bunch. It does not noticeably reduce battery life.
Because there are no side buttons you need to use the screen to take photos, its never been a problem for me and the G3 takes some pretty good pictures if you are on an LG based Rom. Aosp or CM roms have no access to the cameras potential and end up taking pretty bad pictures compared to stock... Passable but stock is just that good.
My best selling points would be that this phone is still getting updates, is rooted, extensive development, performance on par with current flagships (for everyday use, not so much for gaming), has a very high screen to body ratio, has an or blaster, great battery life, SD card, removable battery, and great screen... It's hard to find a better phone and I have been looking.
I upgraded to the G4 when it came out and couldn't deal without root but it might be worth checking out now.
Every other phone either doesn't have root or doesn't have enough to beat the g3... My current work phone is a note 5 and I love/hate it... So much potential but no root and no sd
So it sounds like I would have to be careful about choosing just any ROMs. But are there a good amount of options that are stock-based, with room for customization? I tend to like the feature set of slim-based ROMs.
Thanks for the tip about the 32gb. I'm planning to spend about $200 on swappa, so it's right up my alley.
Thanks again!

I've had my G3 for half a year now, loved it.
Regarding your questions,
- Almost every single rom is equipped with knock on feature (double-tap to wake), while knock code (tapping a preset sequence on your screen-off) is only available on stock roms. Yes it's integrated natively, and no it doesn't eat up battery life.
- Yes you can use volume buttons to take pictures on G3, just that they are on the rear now. I actually prefer this because it's more natural to use my index finger on the read to take a picture, as compared to pressing side volume buttons on my old Optimus G. You'll get used to the rear buttons and find that they are much more comfortable to use than side buttons.
- You will probably get used to the navbar really quickly, given that it works the same way as physical buttons
- There are a variety of roms to choose from, and the best stock-based I've used so far is the Ti-X rom which is a continuation of CloudyG3 2.5. Some of them may not be on xda but on Google+ you can find more (NovaStock, Lion rom, etc.)
A few pointers you should note:
- Marshmallow, as of now, is only out for Poland and Korea G3, though it will roll out to other countries soon enough.
- There have been reports of overheating but recent updates solved that issue for me so yay!
- AOSP roms like cyanogenmod, candysix, etc, will not be able to make use of the full potential of the camera. You can flash camera mods like m9 camera mod but it will still not be as good as on stock.
Guys, I'm thinking of getting a OnePlus 3 to replace my n5, but I have a few questions before I want to commit.
1. How's the ROM support for it i.e. custom Roms?
2. Camera quality (both shooters) in low light?
3. Can I get a secure lockscreen, i.e. quick toggles and power menu don't work when the screen is secured with a pin/password ?
4. Can I customize the quick toggles like something in the screenshot (apart from the layers overlay) ?
5. Is there any custom ROM for the device that allows me the features in 3&4?
6. Is an aukey quick charger the same as the dash charger that comes with it?
7. How likely is the screen to shatter when dropped or through accidental pressure?
I have my birthday coming up in a week, so I wanted to get it then. So help me out guys. I've also been condi the new Nexus phones about come out. So help me out guys. Get it or hold out?

1. There are lots, check the op3/roms&kernels section here on xda
2. Not as Good as sgs7 but better than average. Constant updates will improve the Camera aswell.
3.dont know actually, dont think so on oos.
4. Yes you can rearrange and hide the toggles.
5. Most certainly there are, check mentioned section in the forum.
6. No it is not. Dash only Works with dash and in some cases the oppo vooc charger. But the vooc is microusb and op3 is usbC so they wont match, and a normal adapter takes the dash/vooc away. The only thing that Works is vooc carcharger and a dash usb cable.
7. Its gorillaglass 4 right? So its the same as many other high End phones. Not shatterproof, almost no phone is that has a Good display.
If you want an android stock feel then the nexus is for you. Oos is almost stock android and many are experiencing the OP3 to be faster than the 6p and others are saying the opposite.
If you want the new features of android N really bad, then the nexus is for you. The Op3 wont probable get the android N update in at least 6 months after what i have read.

Thanks for the reply bro. So the quick settings can be resized and rearranged then? And about the screen, I've read in a review that it shattered quite easily. Must be a defective unit then. Oh and one last thing, are the updates the only thing that set them apart? Go for it then?

Not resizeable, but rearrangeable.
Okay, well i dont think that we can find a reviewer who has tested different phones for the sole purpose of testing the shattering of screen. All depends on how it falls, how high, and on what.
Just get a screen protector.
I dont know the new nexus, it is yet to come,
Nexus devices are THE android device, and are Said to be the fastest, but as for now the s7 and the op3 are the fastest after all ive seen. So regarding a new high End phone that costs $200 less than a new yet to come nexus device i would say its a nobrainer.
@skyknife93
Keep in mind that when using a custom rom which is not based on OxygenOS, you will not be able to use the stock camera app.
Other apps show noticeably more noise in lowlight on CM13 and OxygenOS:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...roms-stock-camera-app-for-custom-roms.456213/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67946626&postcount=17
There is a work-in-progress camera port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/port-official-oxygenos-3-1-3-camera-mm-t3407757
So far postprocessing does not work and taptofocus causes a force close.
The only downside I can think off is that updates to Android N may take a while. Although so far updates have been impressively fast. Plus customer service maybe lacking if the phone develops a fault but for a potential $200 saving it seems a no brainer so far for me.
Also the 5P is likely to be based on the HTC 10,and the OP3 is superior phone to that in most reviewers opinions.
