Hello fellow XDAers,
I recently went through the flash dance for my Sprint Blue L710 S3 16GB to switch it from some old version of CM 10(.2?) to the latest nightly of CM11. I essentially followed this guide to get my phone up to the latest and greatest and flashed pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.4-20141110 to give the the level of GApps I'm comfortable with.
Now I tried to follow the same guide with my wife's Sprint "White" S3 32GB L710. Right off the bat the phone wouldn't boot after the oneclick flash - it got stuck on the loading screen (I waited 30 minutes on the boot screen before giving up... twice). Only after I flashed Philz 6.5.14 recovery was it able to properly boot into the OS (potentially a PIT problem, but all 32GB PIT files seem to be removed from the web). In the stock ROM, phone mic, sound, voice dialer, and Google Search all worked (and I tested this several times during recovery attempts). It noticed it hadn't taken advantage of all 32GB available on the phone, so it decided to expand the partition itself (bonus?). Then I flashed the latest nightly CM11...
Once booted, I cannot get the dialer to behave correctly. I installed the GApps after booting up the ROM once (and tried again on a fresh install by installing it prior to first boot). Immediately after boot, using the Phone app and dialing a number the screen turns to a blank (black) screen. The phone dials fine, but once connected to the number being dialed, there is no sound or mic. When I open the Sound Recorder app, it says "internal application error" and "microphone may be in use". When I try to do "OK, Google", it acts like the microphone isn't able to be accessed. When I open Apollo to listen to anything, DSP Manager force closes. It's as if the hardware can't be accessed by the ROM. SMS, cell network, WiFi, and GPS all work. It seems familiar to this CM thread, but the same steps aren't working for me.
I've flashed a few ROMs based off of AOSP (Slim and AOKP mainly), but none of them seem to allow me to utilize the mic and speaker of the phone. Only ROMs based directly off of sto k ND8 let me "phone out". For instance, stock ND8 works as well as Wicked-X.
I've flashed multiple ways, cleaned/formatted several times, and tried all sorts of tricks to get this to work on my wife's phone. I'd like to believe I've done enough research to feel like coming to the community is my last resort. As a software developer myself, I know there's probably something simple I've missed, but can someone please help me figure out why my "blue" L710 is working but not my wife's "white" 710?
Thank you very much in advance.

This happened all of a sudden, and I'm really not sure why. The camera is just a black screen, which can only be minimised by pressing the home button. The headphone jack recognises nothing.
At first I thought it was the ROM (LeeDroid 2.2f), so I wiped the data/cache/dalvik cache and reverted to Pinky's 1.8. I've also tried AuraxTSense 8.1.4 with no luck. All ROMs work perfectly fine except this issue.
After looking it up, everyone seems to jump at the radios. I flash radios by picking the zip file whilst in recovery (clockwork), installing, rebooting and having it write the image, not touching my phone while it boots up, and having it show the new flashed radio in the options/bootloader sections.
I have tried the specific radios linked to in the OP of each of the ROMs, and I have tried the latest ones. I've been through about 5 at least today on multiple ROMs, with no luck.
I really want my camera and headphone jack back. Please help.
Try going back to stock rom. If that doesn't solve it, then I think you have a hardware problem.
I'm currently trying a rooted version of 2.10.405.2 including radio from this thread. Is that sufficient testing of going back to stock (because my backup software requires root) or does it have to be RUU?
Edit: That rooted stock ROM has the same issue -_- will try RUU.
Edit 2: The flash LED no longer works either. For example the torch application.
The camera app is still just a black screen. No menu, no way to quit except terminating the process.
The headphone socket is still dead. The halfway-in trick doesn't work either.
These parts are all very close to each other, so I'm leaning towards hardware. However the phone can still make/receive calls, messages, wifi, 3G, etc... everything apart from camera, rear LED and headphones.
This seems to happen a lot according to Google. Will think twice about getting another HTC phone.
Hi all. My finicky T989 is stuck at the Android 4G screen and will not boot past it. Some background on the phone, about a year ago it was dropped in water. Immediately place in rice and after a couple of days it worked fine, with a few odd quirks. Initially the camera LED stayed on all the time, so i didn't use the phone for a couple pf months and when I went back to it, it worked fine. It doesn't like any roms other than TouchWiz, CM or AOKP versions give me all sorts of errors when running, normally I cannot access any of the phones memory.
So.....on to my current issue. The phone has been running fine, but last week told me the headphones were plugged in when they were not. I rebooted to see if it would fix the issue, but the phone is stuck on the Android 4G screen. I can access recovery (TWRP) and download mode, I have reflashed the installed ROM, which is a stock rom titled "UVMC6_HERCULES_TR_STOCK_-IQ_RIPPL-H20" and the phone still sticks at the 4G screen.
I have a backup, but it's a couple of months old. This is my wifes phone, so the lost apps are no big deal, she doesn't use too many to begin with. The big loss are the text messages. Since I can still access recovery and download mode, is there any way to pull the messages from there? My TWRP version is 2.6.0.0. I've tried to backup the data portion of my current rom, to save the messages, but it fails.

Hey! How was it going on finally? Did you try pyraxiate's suggestion?
If it works for you please let me know coz I don't want to try the complicated method that turns out not applicable.
Merry Christmas to all!
JLM, have posted similar on your other site.
Having a problem with the BrokenPop 5.0.2 on my L900 (Sprint Note2)
I can't seem to dial out with this rom. I get popup saying 'Unfortunately, Dialer has stop"
Are others seeing this problem? Is this an rom issue or a setup issue on my end?
I don't expect a daily driver from an early alpha of this rom and do expect issues but I would hope that I can at least make phone calls, after all, the Note 2's primary function is a phone
What I have done so far.
DL and installed rom twice. Both DL check via MD5 OK
Using Philz 6.07.9 recovery
1. Backup internal sdcard to pc
2. Factory reset / Install new rom option
3. Wipe/format internal sdcard
4. Reboot recovery (selected yes to restore root notification)
5. Install rom
6. Boot rom
7. Boot into recovery
8. Flash Gapps
9. Did minor setup of things like Wifi, Google Login, Play Store, DL ES File Manager.
10. Try to make phone call using dialer (phone icon) and get 'Unfortunately, Dialer has stop"
11. DL another free dialer from Play Store.. same error message.
I'm open to suggestions on how to get this to work.
I do like what I see from my little tour around this rom, but not being able to make calls is a major issue for me even for an alpha release. For now I have fallen back to my trusty Community Rom 4.4.2 which has been rock solid for me.
Thanks
bump.... a few people have viewed this posting .. anyone else having this problem? I have since try to install once again.. had some limited success with dialer, but then problem returns. even made a nandroid of when it was working.. still my favorite early lollypop rom for the l900
I installed Broken5.0.2, ran it for 24, and found it seemed to be one of the least reliable functioning loli roms for L900. I personally am preferring the LiquidSmooth 12-23 nightly. The LS rom has overcome the wifi/screen off hotboot bug, the keyboard bug, but still needs the manual GPS fix. Right now it offers hands down the most functioning options at this particular time and the phone is semi reliable??? Lol its doesnt FC but its buggy.
My two cents ... Cheers!
I've tried LiquidSmooth 12-23 nightly also.. one thing I had issues with was I have a OTG usb drive and did not find a way to unmount it. Did you find that function anywhere in LS?.. Other issue I have is no XPOSE support right now.. and I'm not a fan of the AOSP messaging pgms. Lots of things I don't like about TW .. but they make a nice messaging pgm
I did see a semi-workaround where you click on the carrier setting and it kinda resets the capability to make calls.. kinda hokey.. but it seems to work.. Lolllypop is still very early.. and I guess these are the growing pains for being alpha testers. Hopefully over time it will get more mature. Back on 4.4.2 for now.. everything works.. the thing is huge.. over 2gb nandroids using high compression.. but hey, everything works.. Thanks for responding.
After upgrading to the FOH3 firmware and then flashing on TWRP and Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightly, my phone worked great for days. One day for no apparent reason I could no longer transmit audio when making phone calls on the default phone app. It will connect, and disconnect if the other party hangs up. My speaker, mic, and 4g are working.
I wiped everything TWRP lets me besides MicroSD.
I tried a firmware double-flash and using clean stock install.
I went as far as T-mobile support can.
I'm looking to see if there is a more comprehensive wipe I can do. Perhaps the error exists in an area TWRP doesn't reach. Please give me any ideas.
Hello @ all !
Since the update to Android 6.0 there are no more sounds.
Everything in connection with sound don't work. When i change volume level, there is no "beep" ton.
Also i can't call or can be called. When i try to call it freeze, only power menu to restart works. When somebody trys to call me, it's like my phone is off, but it's on.
I am registerd to the network, so i can send and reach sms / use the internet.
I tried the ROM from Leedroid , ViperRom , RevolutionHD and MaximusHD. ( FULL WIPE etc. i tried every option.... )
When use the CandySix Rom, i have sound and i can call...
Would be great if anybody could help me.
THX A LOT!
I think I may have the same issue. I purchased a used M9 of AT&T variant. I know it had sound as the first time I booted it I heard the ATT boot sound. I never used the phone though and I immediately entered fastboot and changed it to a developer edition (the phone was already s-off and unlocked) I then installed LeeDroid via TWRP. The rom works fine but I have no sound at all from internal speakers or headphones. I also tried ViperOneM9 with the same result. I have not yet tried CandySix, but I will.
The only thing that is different fro me is that I don't have a sim yet for my carrier so the phone isn't yet registered. It is on wifi though. No sounds work at all. Touch sounds, volume rocker sounds, notifications, music also doesn't play from mp3's I have on my sd card (they actually don't seem to even start as the time counter doesn't ever start even after hitting pause and play)
Any Ideas at all?

Take a look over in the LeeDroid thread. You need to flash the latest firmware before installing the HTC MM based ROMs.
it's awlays common sense to read the OP. especially when there is a major upgrade like from lollipop to marshmallow where the whole firmware is changed/modified . be always sure to run latest firmware when trying to use latest roms. aosp/cm are a different story, for them it doesn't matter if lollipop firmware or MM is used
