I ran into a bit of a problem with a Titanium backup.
Yesterday I upgraded to 5.0. OTA didn't work with CWM, so I got the pro version of Titanium backup and created a flashable zip of my apps and system data. Then I flashed 5.0 and CWM, and restored root with the kernel mod. All good. Then I tried to flash the zip file that TiBU created with CWM. CWM reports that it can't flash the file, says it is bad. File looks valid, it is 2.4GB.
I opened the zip on my mac and all my apps and data are there. What is the best way to get my apps and data back? Can I move the exploded zip file to a directory on my phone and then Titanium will be able to restore them? There are 700 files in the zip, an apk, .properties and a .tar.gz for each app.

ok, looks like I can push the files to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup and TiBU will recognize them and be able to restore them. Good to go, but thanks for being there

So I tried renaming my backups on pc, since rom manager would always mess up when trying that method. Both ways I get a "m5 sum incorrect " or something like that!
Any ideas, sometimes I have so many backups its hard to tell what's what

ROM Manager will let you name your backups. Only thing I can think of.
how do you use rom manager to rename them i renamed them all with ES File Explorer and now all my backups get that m5 sum incorrect thing

I used to have this problem. What I currently do, is as follows, using Amon_RA 2.2.1 Located here:

I use the recovery nandroid backup. When I do this it creates a folder under /sdcard/nandroid/...... where ...... is the folder nandroid will create upon your first backup. From there all your future backups will go into that folder, it will be something goofy, the folder for me is Ht096Hl01177 (path looks like this: /sdcard/nandroid/HT096H101177/New Backup, rename this folder, not the HT one), within that folder will be your actual backup. Create the nandroid backup, I use ROOT EXPLORER (Paid but worth it since you can do mounted deletes), to rename the newley created backup, do not change the parent folder. Then when I want to restore to that one, I make sure I do a full wipe including Dalvick Cache. Using this process I don't hardly ever get the m5sum error. Hope that helps. I currently have 4 backups under the parent directory and I can restore them fine as long as I wipe first.
The easiest and cheapest way is by opening rom manager and scroll down to where it says backup/restore and on the backup you want to rename you hold it and then it will give you options like delete etc...chose rename and rename it example MikFroyo_1-24-2011 when you space make sure you _ for spaces and you should not get an error I segest you make a backup and use that to test it you can also rename it by clicking back up restore within rom manager and press back and rename it like showed in the example hopes this helps I have tested both with no problems what so ever

I always rename mine with no issues...so far. I just leave all the numbers then start at the end like this. 2010-11-20.07.24.51 then I add -MYN-01-HB-76. Dont know if this will work for everyone. I just didnt want to mess with the file name too much

The key thing to know about renaming nandroids is that you have to be sure to leave no spaces in the names...
You can name it CM6.Jan25 but not CM6 Jan 25
You do not need to save the given name of it, I assure you.
....this is true whether you rename with rom manager, root explorer or estrongs ..... that is all you need to be concerned with, as long as you do that you should be fine....

Yeah, I use Root Explorer, no spaces, works fine for me.
I have downloaded an app + data (so it seems), from a friend. He made a backup for me and told me I could restore it using Titanium Backup.
It's a zip file and it contains a .tar.gz of the data, a .apk.gz (app) and a .properties file.
The .properties file seems to contain Titanium Backup information.
So I assume there should be some way of importing this zip file using Titanium Backup. But I can't find that option.
What I can find is "Backup" (which creates a backup of an app and stores it *somewhere*) and "Restore", where I can't specify a path or anything.
How can I restore the data inside this zip?
Extract that .zip file to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ folder. If you installed app which you want to restore go to Titanium Backup app and just restore it :good:

Can someone please help me? I have all of my backed up info on Google Drive from TB. I moved that info from Google to my phone and have tried to batch restore, but it keeps showing 0 files. Please help as I have a lot of apps and data backed up and I don't care to start over. I purchased the TB Pro app for just such an occasion and now I can't use it.

This works indeed.
I selected a batch operation for backing up apps and system data. Downloaded it via the TB Webserver and thought I was okay.
Tried restoring by uploading it to my Nexus via TB Webserver anddd it's gone. Not in the Titanium Backup app, nor to be found on the Nexus with a file browser.
Uploaded the zip manually using an usb cable to the emualted sd andddd no,option in Titanium Backup to say "its here!".
Downloaded an unzip thingie in the Play Store, unzipped the shizzle and let the files in the zip -one level down- being unpacked in the TitaniumBackup folder.
Restarted TB and yay, it can see again. Batch restored everything and... it works. Kinda. Stuck on Swiftkey as we speak. But this is the best I could come up with.
Sigh.
1. Is there any method to update the apk files stored in the zip file with newer version ?
2. How can we delete /update the backup apks with newer version?

There may be a better way to do this, but somewhere in Preference you can tell it how many backups to keep. I think the default is "All". Set it to 1 and that should do the trick.
I was doing some changes to my phone so i did a backup and then copied the backup directory from the phone to my PC to save it. The backup was under /clockworkmod/backup/Jan312013.
I copied that directory (Jan312013) to my PC not even realizing when it copied it, for some reason it changed it to a zip file??? Now i have Jan312013.zip and have no idea how to copy that back to phone to restore?? If i open the zip it has all the files that would normally be in the backup directory but of course recovery does not recognize a zip file for backup.
Thoughts? Help? Thanks.
What version of CWM, if that's what youre using? I just used 6.0.2.3, and i believe there's an option to backup as .zip. Maybe you accidentallychose that method?

i used cm10 (4.2.2) and wanted to try the new ubuntu preview, flashed the zip's via cwm and tried the rom.
later i wanted to uninstall them and performed a full wipe.
after this i clicked restore in cwm. the engine said: no files or sth like that so i had to flash the cm10 nightly new.
in the file manager later i saw, the folder "clockworkmod" is stored in emulated/../0/0/0
so two "0" folders were filled in additionally. i think the cwm can only look in the first 0 folder for "his" files.
how can i reduce this deep structure and perfom the restore of my backup?
any ideas?
Khizar has a guide to restore the old sd structure. Update your CWM, and backups should be in data/media/clockworkmod. You could move the one you want with a root explorer.

Titanium backup pro can create a flashable zip of backups of your apps. Although I'm not to sure whether if its the free or the paid version you can do this on.
When you open the application, theres a checkmark up at the top, press that. Then you can backup all of your apps under the Backup category.
Once done, you then scroll down to the bottom under the RECOVERY MODE options and select Create "update.zip" from app+data backups.
You then can restore with the update.zip of all the backups you have made, whether you have chosen app, app + data, or data only.
