I have downloaded an app + data (so it seems), from a friend. He made a backup for me and told me I could restore it using Titanium Backup.
It's a zip file and it contains a .tar.gz of the data, a .apk.gz (app) and a .properties file.
The .properties file seems to contain Titanium Backup information.
So I assume there should be some way of importing this zip file using Titanium Backup. But I can't find that option.
What I can find is "Backup" (which creates a backup of an app and stores it *somewhere*) and "Restore", where I can't specify a path or anything.
How can I restore the data inside this zip?
Extract that .zip file to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ folder. If you installed app which you want to restore go to Titanium Backup app and just restore it :good:

Can someone please help me? I have all of my backed up info on Google Drive from TB. I moved that info from Google to my phone and have tried to batch restore, but it keeps showing 0 files. Please help as I have a lot of apps and data backed up and I don't care to start over. I purchased the TB Pro app for just such an occasion and now I can't use it.

This works indeed.
I selected a batch operation for backing up apps and system data. Downloaded it via the TB Webserver and thought I was okay.
Tried restoring by uploading it to my Nexus via TB Webserver anddd it's gone. Not in the Titanium Backup app, nor to be found on the Nexus with a file browser.
Uploaded the zip manually using an usb cable to the emualted sd andddd no,option in Titanium Backup to say "its here!".
Downloaded an unzip thingie in the Play Store, unzipped the shizzle and let the files in the zip -one level down- being unpacked in the TitaniumBackup folder.
Restarted TB and yay, it can see again. Batch restored everything and... it works. Kinda. Stuck on Swiftkey as we speak. But this is the best I could come up with.
Sigh.
1. Is there any method to update the apk files stored in the zip file with newer version ?
2. How can we delete /update the backup apks with newer version?

There may be a better way to do this, but somewhere in Preference you can tell it how many backups to keep. I think the default is "All". Set it to 1 and that should do the trick.

I have searched this forum and have not found an answer. I would like to know how to backup the .apk files that are stored on the phone memory, not the SD card. I have used ASTRO file manager but cannot locate the .apk files. I have already used Titanium Backup Pro but I have found that the .apk files are backed up a .tar.gz files. What I want to do is backup the .apk files as .apk files for future resoration or transport to another Android device. I have searched the phone and cannot loacte where the downloaded .apk's are being stored. Could someone out there please help point me in the right direction.

You have a couple of options. You can tell titanium backup not to use compression when backing up, or you can use 'Root Explorer' and navigate to /data/app where you will find all your user installed apps, be aware that the data for the apps, such as save games etc... is stored in /data/data.

I tried turning compression off but titanium backup still created .tar files, not .apk files. Secon option of using root explorer worked just great.

You can use Titanium backup, which will create compressed file, but you can decompress it on your PC and extract .apk file.
Method I use is with ASTRO. Go to menu-tools-backup programs, choose programs you want to backup and hit 'Backup' button. Then navigate to backup folder and there are your programs. But be aware, they will show market names whic are not always easy to determine which .apk is which program.
I use appmonster as it backs up when you install from any source, using an old version 1.9.0 as they changed the way it puts file names, nopw it does via market, on prior it was a readable name
I am using app saver, it works~
A simple option would be to install appInstaller (the one by Gregory House) from the market.
It's a lightweight app which backs up apk files to a folder on your sd card named app saver.

It all depends of the app...if is a system app or a market one. You have to use a file explorer such as file manager or ES explorer.
If the app you are looking for is a system on you need to be rooted.
Try apk extractor in the market its free, its what I use.

how do I delete nandroid backups for an evo 4g?
I delete mine by using a file manager then go to the nandroid folder and delete the old nandroids also I backup ALL my nandroids on my pc then delete them

Go into nandroid folder then into the next folder H something, in that folder will be all your nands named by date. Just delete which ever ones you don't need either via some root explorer app or Pc usb.

I have just recently rooted my intl' S3. I also did a nandroid backup to the phone twice and its taking up quite a bit of space. I have tried to locate the nandroid folder from what you posted and cannot find the nandroid folder. I am using astro folder right now but maybe switching to my file app later if this does not work. thanks in advance!

The folder should be named whatever recovery you are using. If you're using ClockworkMod, it may say 'clockworkmod' or 'cwm'. If you're using TWRP recovery, it should say 'twrp'. The backup files will be in that folder.

Fln is correct, in that it'll be named whatever recovery you're using. Probably cwm, listed under clockworkmod, unless you explicitly changed to twrp. Just make sure you look on the device sdcard for the backups.

I have looked into these folders and found nothing. I have used File manager and Astro File with no luck finding this folder. I went back into the Samsung tool kit to see if it will allow me to delete those files on the phone put no luck there either. thanks again for your assistance.

thanks but I still cannot find the back up. I have used the samsung tool kit to create the nandroid back ups but now I dont know how to find it to delete. in the toolkit it does not provide an option to delete back ups from the phone unless I maybe misunderstanding the option available. i have installed rom manager and there i can create nandroid backups by going into the recovery page. I cannot flash roms because of the space limitations. I want to delete these back ups on the phone and just leave it on the computer so that i can start flashing roms thru rom manager.
I do not have an external SD card because its still in the mail. Thanks for all your help!

I just went into the CWM recovery mode and located the 2 nandroid backups I created but still could not delete any of them. All my file explorers does not have any nandroid folders and the CWM folder is still empty. Am I missing a particular setting that is not allowing me to see the backups?

What file explorer are you using? I prefer es file explorer [free], make sure you set the root settings to r/w, for giggles. It should be listed as internal sd card or sdcard01, probably the prior; I forget what its called on tw. Just verify for clockworkmod folder, and should list your device id, and the backups inside.

You are the MAN teh roxxorz, adjusted the root settings for es file explorer and was able to free up 4gb of space (nandroid BU) Thank you so much! Now I do not have to unroot, do a factory wipe just to delete excess backups!!
I ran into a bit of a problem with a Titanium backup.
Yesterday I upgraded to 5.0. OTA didn't work with CWM, so I got the pro version of Titanium backup and created a flashable zip of my apps and system data. Then I flashed 5.0 and CWM, and restored root with the kernel mod. All good. Then I tried to flash the zip file that TiBU created with CWM. CWM reports that it can't flash the file, says it is bad. File looks valid, it is 2.4GB.
I opened the zip on my mac and all my apps and data are there. What is the best way to get my apps and data back? Can I move the exploded zip file to a directory on my phone and then Titanium will be able to restore them? There are 700 files in the zip, an apk, .properties and a .tar.gz for each app.

I accidentally uninstalled the default Samsung Gallery app using Titanium Backup. I had a backup, but the backup failed to restore using titanium backup.
I also tried to re-add the contents to the Systems/App directory using root explorer, but that failed too. I think the folder was supposed to be called ScGallery2015 or something..? Can someone check their Systems/App directory and see what the folder is called and what it should have? If you could even send me those files that would be great. :crying:

if does not exist, create an folder in your internat storage which is called "TitaniumBackup".
i attached a zip archiv with 3 files inside. Put these 3 files into these TitaniumBackup folder.
Then open titanium backup (skip all pop ups) Go to backup and restore.
Then search for the exchange service and press restore.
