I feel stupid, but for the life of me, i can't find car mode. I'm trimming Nova Launcher. Would that affect it?
If you mean the car mode that is inbuilt on other note 4. Then it doesn't exist on AT&T note 4. AT&T has disabled it.

Download a car mode app like Car Home Ultra then it will ask you if you want it to be default app meaning default for car mode. Click accept. In car home ultra settings look for a setting in start up options i think that says well make the home button your main button and i always have my setting for keep display on checked and apply settings for all apps. But if you click clear or uninstall car mode a bug of some sort gets rid of car mode entirely until a master reset

Actually, I do have Car Home Ultra, and it is a great app. But I find that it does not work on my NOte 4 with the Home button. I did download their patch app for that, but it appears that it wants to make it Home all the time. Although when it popped up the usual selection of things for selecthing the Home app, I didn't select it, because I was afraid it would override Nova when Car Home ULtra is not running. Of course, I should give it a try. I can always delete defaults on it.

So I just got my iBolt xProDock and was disappointed when I plugged in my phone and there doesn't appear to be a car mode. Is this something I need to enable or does Samsung no longer offer a car mode app that runs when plugged into a car dock?
I personally don't like car mode, and mine car dock is just a holder. I don't recall seeing anything in the apps list in Titanium Backup.
I saw on a Amazon review of the car dock (linky), iBolt offers one. If you got it an amazon, it should be free.
Usually car mode was enabled because USB plug in car docks had the pins to trigger it. When I looked in the settings, I did not see anything for Car Mode. On my Evo 4G, I could enable car mode without the dock dock since I could access it in the settings.
Worse case scenario, there are plenty of car mode apps, and I'm sure a few good ones that are free.
When you plug in the phone or will turn your main home screen into dock mode just like the is a pen mode and earphone mode. I bolt offers a free app that is actually quite nice that can replace the docking mode with a car mode or is available in the play store and can either be accessed like any app or at to be launched when you plug in the cable they provided

Theres a toggle for driving mode in my pulldown, did they remove it on ma7 it's the 3rd one from the far right on stock ljc.
☆SoA: Son's of Android™☆
I like to break stuff!
It is still in MA7, in the drop down menu, unless the end user took it off their drop down, if they did they can put it back, or go into settings and click on language and text/scroll down to text to Speech/enable driving mode from there.
If they took it off their notification panel, to put it back, simply hit Menu/Display/Notification Panel, and drag it back up to the panel, cheers

I'll have to try the iBolt app (or another free one), but I don't see that there is a Car Mode app on my phone anymore. The "Driving Mode" that is in the notification bar isn't what I'm looking for, I want an actual app to run when I plug my phone in that makes navigation, music, ect. easier to use when driving. I'll try the iBolt app tonight and leave feedback.
Thanks!

So the iBolt app is something like what I was expecting to have pre-installed on my phone, that'll work. Now just wondering if I'm missing a setting to make the app run automatically when plugged into the dock (like my HTC did) or if this isn't a feature that works on Samsung phones?

Driving Mode is not the same as Car Mode. Driving Mode just speaks email and text notifications. Rather than trying to find a dock with Car Mode in it, just get a few NFC tags, stick one on your existing dock, and program it to toggle Car Mode off and on. Easy Peasy.

The Note 2 doesn't have a Car dock Mode. That's been taken out by Samsung and it only has a smart dock mode so you'll need to do a couple of things.
First go into “Settings-Accessory” and select “Desk home screen display", now you'll need a car dock launcher like car home ultra (not all apps support Samsung's new dock mode) . Once you've installed a car home app go ahead and dock your phone on the iBolt and you should be given a prompt to choose your default down app. This video explains it all starting at 1:05

All, here's a new video from us here at iBOLT explaining the "DockMode" (as we now call it) in Samsung phones. Also visit Google Play and download the iBOLT Dock'n Drive app.

Go into Settings>More>Developer's options> and select "Stay Awake".
If you do not see the "developers options" then click on "About Device"
and then scroll down to "Build Number" and keep clicking "build number"
until you see "developer mode" turned on... (enabled)
Once you see that go back to "Settings>More>Developers options and check mark "stay awake".
Good luck!

The stock launcher will not go into landscape mode.
You need to find a different launcher which has the ability to go into landscape mode.
There are a lot of launchers which have that feature.
I don't know exactly which launchers have that feature, but there are a lot of them.
Just go to the playstore and download a bunch of launchers, most of them are free
downloads and see which ones have the home screen in landscape feature.
After you select the one you want to use, just uninstall all the others.
Good luck!
p.s. clicking on the THANKS button is free too
iBOLT Dock mode...
Hi there. To get the most out of your iBOLT car dock, download the app Dock'n Drive from Google Play store, link here... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ibolt.carhome Watch the video too as it will give you more information. Most important is to go into "settings-accessory" and select the "DockMode". If you setting has "screen rotate" on it will work exactly as in the video.
If there's no "Accessory" settings it usually means that you have purchased an S4 directly from Google. In this case you do not have the Samsung Dock Mode installed as the Google phones include only Android generic firmware. In this case you need to download and install the Sound Redirect app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.muteheadlight.dockredir and it will simulate DockMode. Once this App is installed and you insert the iBOLT cable you can select "audio out" etc. as if you had an original Samsung.
To make the screen stay on you can go into "settings" in the Dock'n DRive app and select for the screen to stay on. You can also set Bluetooth to start automatically when you insert the phone into the dock. WiFi can be turned of automatically when inserted and back on again when removing the phone.
I hope the above information helps? Enjoy your car-dock! MP from iBOLT

Awesome info, got everything setup great. Only thing now is I never got the window to pop up to select your app to auto start when plugged into the dock. I still have to manually open it. Other then that I have to say im gonna recommend this to everyone with a galaxy phone.
Does anyone know of a way around the fact the Car Mode now prompts you to select either Android Auto or S Voice each time it starts now, after the recent B0F1 update?
If I choose Android Auto, my Home button becomes useless. It will flash up a screen telling me to start auto in my car and touch the display (I don't have Android Auto in my car). If I install the Android Auto app, it essentially does the same thing.
If I choose S Voice, well, then I'm stuck with that crappy app each time I start Car Mode
While Car Mode was always rather limited on the Note 4 (lack of support for home button launching your car app of choice), it was at least useful for keeping the screen on. I use A2DP Volume to start Car Mode when I connect to my in-car BT. Before the update, Car Mode simply put the steering wheel icon in notification, and kept my screen on all the time (if charging). This was perfect.
Now, I have to choose one of 2 useless apps, which breaks my Home button.
In lieu of a fix, does anyone know of a simple, reliable way to keep the screen on? Most of the techniques I've tried in the past were unreliable.
Apparently, the fix is as easy as installing a "car home" app that registers as such...
I had Auto Mate installed, which didn't seem to register as a selection. I installed Car Home Ultra, and when I'm in Car Mode, I get the popup to select either Android Auto, Car Home Ultra, or S Voice.
Now my home button always brings up Car Home Ultra. So, they didn't make it worse, they fixed the broken home button behavior, *if* you have a proper home app installed.
Enable developer mode, there is an option in it to keep screen on while charging. Thats what I did.
Go to : Settings > About Phone
then tap "Build Number" until it flashes a toast message telling you Developermode has been enabled.
Then under Settings you will now see Developer Options, go into that menu and check the box for "Stay Awake"
SOLVED.
I use Car Home Ultra but despite setting it to always default as the car mode home, whenever I press home button after opening it it brings up list of apps to open including Android Auto that isn't installed. If I select CHU as always it will then work fine until I next close & open then I get same again
Any advice or anyone else seeing this?

I do not have this issue.
I told it to always use Car Home and it does.
I really hate the car mode in 7.1 btw.
Why in the world did they remove the recents button. ugh.
And I dislike that I cannot hide the "car mode" from the pulldown.
Cannot wait till Xposed is up and running so I can mod these things to work better.
Is there anyway to turn off the screen with the home button and then be able to use the fingerprint scanner to unlock?
Advanced features > side key.
For the locking part, there is an app called home button actions, but good lock would give you more functions , as to unlock, there is a double tap option, as LG devices have had since some time
I really appreciate the answers but still looking for an easy way to long press the home button to turn off the screen and have it turn back on with the fingerprint sensor.

Nova - gestures, home button, screen lock.
Always on display - active, fingerprint unlock turned on.
I think this is the closest you can get. I don't think the fingerprint is active while the screen's completely off.
If you want the screen completely off, you'll have to use the lift to wake option, that way it turns on as soon as you pick up your phone. You'll have to turn that option on in the phone settings.
Edit: "Nova".

A single press turns off the screen and pressing the fingerprint sensor when the screen is off turns on the phone. You can set a long press to bring up power off menu.
Just press the power button and the screen will turn off. The easiest way
You can also use "good lock" and the navstar plugin to create a power button shortcut.
Double Tap apk
I use the Double Tap apk. Simple double tap anywhere on the screen to turn t off.
May not work with Android Q though as it's an over lay... works perfectly with Pie.

Do you have a link for that app?
I use the app "DTSO" from the Google Play Store & it works fine on every device mfg except for Samsung. It works on the initial setup, but, subsequent attempts & it does nothing.
On all other devices, I'm able to use a DTSO widget for double tap, on & off.,with no problems.

One of the reasons I'm not going to Q. I have a couple overlay apps that work well and I use.
The added "security" is a bad joke at a high cost to functionality.

Part, if not all of that, is a Samsung limitation, the app I'm using, DTSO, is similar to the one you referenced, it's an overlay/widget & it works just fine on my stock/unrooted OnePlus 7 Pro & it's running Android 10/Q.
The DTSO app never worked properly pre-dating Android 10 on any Samsung devices I've owned, & I tried other similar apps & the same results.
Regardless, it's a head-scratcher as to why Samsung doesn't build in the functionality, a la LG, perhaps it's a Knox thing limiting it, IDK......

Another option is One Handed Operation Plus. You can set gesture control screen off and much more. I wuv this apk. Up to 6 different discreet switch zones and up to 6 switches per zone. Very low power consumption and reliable. Perfect companion to fill in those unused curve screen zones, a brilliant apk.

Since I'm not using a screen lock the double tap on/off is great. Samsung marketing is like a box of rabid gerbils; absurd and unpredictable.
However when it comes to unrooted phone customization, Samsung is hands down the best.
A plain Jane Apple would bore me to death...

The long stroke gestures aren't as reliable.
Useful for Apks that get inadvertently triggered like flashlight, ha-ha.
Occasionally it gets triggered when cut and pasting but it integrates in pretty well. Adjusting the zone size and placement can help prevent this.
Plus you can have the touch zone indicator any color or transparency setting you like or none al all.
Great touch for custom themes.
Making use of the customization Samsung apps takes the Note 10+ to a completely new level.
Outstanding... and very resource/battery friendly.
