Screen on while charging? - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

I've looked everywhere and can't figure out how to keep my screen awake while charging. Samsung really butchered the settings app. Can anyone tell me where it is?

On the 10.1 it's in Developer Options: "Stay awake. Screen will never sleep while charging."

No they didn't. This is where it is on any normal Android ROM.

Yes it is in developer options which are not available until you enable them. Go to--> settings--> about device and tap on build number about 7 times. That Wil enable developer options and stay awake is in that tab.

How to disable sleep mode ???

Under display and gestures option I have sleep set at never turn off and Stay Awake is checked also , under developer options I have stay awake checked. Under wifi I have high performance mode and keep Wifi on during sleep chosen. And still this POS keeps going to sleep. Does anybody have a solution for this ? thanks
Why would anyone want the phone to stay awake and drain the battery?
Stay awake is only for when charging. If you have the display Timeout set to never and it is still turning off you have problems.

There's an app by runks on the play store called stay awake. It'll do what you ask.
I leave my display on with a recipe up so I don't have to keep unlocking it with floury hands

What do you care why they want to do this? If you don't have helpful information don't post! Geeesh, I'm sick of wasting my time reading these types of posts on forums, it just makes finding answers difficult and time consuming.

JB's troubled sleeping.

I know that the exact same thing happens on galaxy nexus with JB - the idle power consumption is about twice that than on ICS. Take a look at this picture:
http://imageshack.us/a/img801/707/screenshot2012102607460.png
Note how the JB device is constantly waking up. I have a theory that it may be the Maps app.
Anyway, does anyone know how to fix that?
UPDATE:
I just did some searching, and apparently, this constant waking up is the issue with Maps. One has to go to Maps/Settings/Location Settings and uncheck "report from this device".
I don't know how much battery is gonna be saved by this, but at least it, the waking up won't look as bad as in my screenshot.

I am not 100% sure but that looks normal to me you wakes should be a dashed line. Doesn't look like your battery is suffering so it is normal wakes.

The consumption was 9% in 8 hours. On ICS, it would have been 4%. The dashed line would not be as thick.

Yes, I disabled Google Now. I imagine that disabled the cards.
Also, just now, I disabled "automatically update location from this device" inside Maps settings.
I wonder if that could fix it.

I haven't had any sleep issues on my phone. I've got maps and nav installed and haven't touched any of the settings in them. I have, however, disabled Samsung push and related.

This is on Jelly Bean only. If you are on JB, check to see if that setting is disabled by default in your rom.

I've been running JB from day one of LIH. And I'll go check

What about bad battery life?
FYI, the MAPS setting you mentioned was no enabled on my phone before or after the JB update.
However, Connections Optimizer was back enabled again after the update and has always been a major battery drainer for me.

[Q] why do checked options disappear on reboot?

Weird deal - so I checked screen stay awake under dev options to keep my screen on while charging at work.
However, every time I reboot it disappears. As do any other checked options.
Why? How can I get it to stay!!
Its just the way it is as of now, so you'll have to re-check them.
thanks for the information, at least I know it is not something wrong with my device.
What was Samsung thinking?!?!?
They probably did that in case people forgot it's checked. So that their screens won't stay on indefinitely......
Stay awake while charging
Any updates on this, it is very annoying. Every time I reboot I have to recheck the "stay awake while charging". With all the stuff that we can do after rooting I find it hard to believe that this can not be fixed.
Use Tasker. You can use it to keep your screen on indefinitely while on AC or USB and then set it back to normal when you unplug.

Assuming you are on 5.0.1 Lollipop, did you factory reset after the update? Many people have experienced problems after the update but have seen factory resets correct problems.
While on the wifi settings page (the screen where you find the list of wifi networks available), touch the three dots in the upper right corner and select Advanced.
Uncheck (turn off) the option to "Always allow scanning"
You can also turn off the first option of Network notification to stop it from trying to find open networks in range.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the response,
I am on 5.0.1, I did factory reset twice, Cleaned cache multiple times
"Always allow scanning" is already turned off
Network notification is also turned off (unchecked)
Funny thing is , I put the phone in Airplane mode (wifi off too) for a while and battery graph still shows WiFi on and phone awake

The Wifi thing is a lollipop bug.
It'll always show as on even when it's off.

That bug must not hit every lollipop phone because my wifi doesn't show as on all the time. When it's off, it's off.

Weird... mine does.
Are you running any special apps (like battery savers)? What Wifi settings are you using? Is Power Saving Mode on or off?
I'm curious now. But yeah, several Note 4 users on the non-ATT Note 4 thread are reporting this issue as well and so were many Nexus users.

No battery savers or apps designed to conserve battery; power saving modes off. All I did to wifi settings was turn off scanning and notification. I have a long list of apps that I disabled since I knew for sure I wasn't going to use them. I screenshot them below if you're interested.

Ok I was wrong. My phone doesn't show wifi always on. I kept wifi off all day and it showed correctly. BUT I think it did show as always awake on the previous Lollipop update. (I'm on COC4 now).
And btw, I have all the same apps turned off as you except Samsung Push Service because it seems to not sync S Note with my Samsung account (I have a Note tablet too) and Amazon because I use it.
Update
I did some further digging , based on the amount of battery used.
1. Cerberus App was using a lot of battery, so uninstalled and re-installed it... the Constant AWAKE problem is gone
waiting a few days to make sure that problem was really gone
2. Uninstalled "LLAMA" app and now WiFi does NOT show as always on
Having the exact same issue on my galaxy s6. Just turned on clash after picking up the phone and the resolution looks like as compared to my joke Moto X (2013). It's worst when zoomed way out and fine when zoomed way in. Maggie everywhere. What the **** supercell.

Is there a way to keep the charging screen always on?

I am coming from the 1st gen Moto 360 and I used it like a desk clock when charging. I am hoping to do the same with my new Huawei Watch but the charging screen goes black after awhile. Is there a way to keep the charging screen always on?
I am on the 1.4 update. In developer options there is an option to stay awake while charging. I haven't tried it yet but it is there.
(For those who may not know... Settings>About>tap on Build number 7 times. You noe have developer options).

Thanks! It did the trick!
Not a great idea with an AMOLED screen. Sure way to get burn in

And did you encounter any negative side effects of using it? I mean the display is on all the time in doze mode anyway so what's the point of not doing this over night?
