There is no need to relock the bootloader.

dear XDA members ,,, as i got a lot of solutions in this form and i see the OTA updates are making problems for many users ,,, here is the solution for people who unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM recovery ......
ON STOCK ROM ...
1- you dont need to relock the bootloader ..
2- download voodoo rootkeeper .. (from market) and run the program and click protect root.
3- you will need your original recovery that you changed to CWM ..
example: if you had 1.28.415.9 and you installed CWM then you need recovery.img for 1.28.415.9 .
install the stock recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24738635#post24738635
4-install recovery.img from fastboot ..
5-boot into phone and OTA update the one x to 1.29.xxx .
6-after update is done just open rootkeeper and click restore root ,,
7-DONE
a big thanks for xda members and im happy to help ...
Nice m8

Actually I never really had to relock the bootloader to apply an OTA... just flashing the stock recovery and keeping the unlocked bootloader + rooted custom ROM did the trick for me... Tho its not a really good idea to install an OTA patch on top of a custom ROM.
i added ( FOR STOCK ) what i know if you have custom rom you wont receive OTA ... will you ???!!!! ... my solution is about if you are still on Stock ...
if you search google youll see people talking about locking the bootloader and removing root and all kind of crap ...
...since the radio is part of the rom now and the only "advantage" of flashing a RUU is an hboot update.
So what is the "advantage" of an newer hboot? If someone finds an exploit on the 0.43 hboot which is fixed on newer hboots you gonna cry (-:
So my advice..stay on lowest hboot until we get S-OFF.
I also didn't have to relock my bootloader.
Just restored my default back up with cwm before root. Fastboot restore to original recovery (stock), update and done. Went back to fastboot and restored cwm, rooted the phone and done.

May I post this in the HOS Section ? Thanks
What i did was flashed stock recovery, downloaded and installed the update done, that's all i did and root was intact, that was like last month
I'm still haven't issues installing the OTA update.
I followed your instructions and I still get the red triangle error
EDIT:
just did some fishing, and it's because my stock rom is so heavily modified that the OTA won't update anything
hi, quick check, do i still need to flash back CWM or it will include back CWM?

the OTA will not include CWM, as CWM is not stock.

Forgive me for the noob question but how would one find out which stock recovery was on phone before I flashed cwm. Didn't take note before hand

Whatever Rom version is shown in "about" e.g. 1.26, 1.28, 1.29 , then this is the recovery version you need

My phone version is 1.29.720.11, but in the OP link, I can find only 1.29.401.7 and 1.29.401.11. What can I do?
Thanks in advance
Hi guys,
I have a rooted one X and want to install he latest update. I tried to relock my bootloader by starting fastboot and then type:
" fastboot oem relock"
Now my phone should be relocked and it does show relocked in pink in the bootloader, but under that stands security warning I don't kno if thats normal or important or something. I rebooted my phone and downloaded the update but when i try to install it i still get into the bootloader.
What am I doing wrong and how do I unlock my bootloader again after the update?
Sascha
You unlock by flashing the unlock_code.bin file again like you first did.
To apply an ota update you also need to reflash the stock recovery

Okay I unlocked my bootloader flashed my recovery.img and relocked my bootloader again. But still it reboots into the bootloader. Could it be my backup of the recovery.img is already wrong?? and if so where can i get the right one
My phone:
1.29.401.11
HTC__102
I Relocked the bootloader and got back to stock recovery.. But while updating i have an error.. Phone with red square on him..
Idk what i'm doing wrong. i have status relocked.. Maybe something wrong with stock recovery?
I tried the recovery image attached to this post first time it deleted al my data second time the update succeeded
Still can't update.. tried some other recoveries, but still get error while updating..

It returns me to bootloader))
You can try to following download stock recovery and download the RUU of your phone ( the same version as your latest official update ) then go to fastboot
Type
Fastboot flash recovery "your stock recovery " .img
Hit enter
Fastboot flash OEM lock
This might give an error but when you type it again it wil work
Now put your phone in fastboot again and then start your RUU from your pc if it gives an error just search for another One it will take about 10 min but after your phone will work fine
Hope it helps

Hey guys, I force updated to jellybean however I kept superSU and my phone's boot loader is still unlocked is there anyway to unroot and re lock my bootloader.
Root and a unlocked bootloader should not give problems to update (did it myself)......
Does the update fail ?

Don't matter now just need to re install clockwork recovery any tutorials
AH I understood it wrong i guess.....
So you are on JB now, and you want stock recovery and lock the bootloader
1 : if you did the update to JB you should already be on stock recovery (otherwise the update would have failed)
2 : you can re-lock the bootloader with a fastboot command
3 : if you want to unroot just delete the SU app
Fastboot OEM lock
Hope this answers your questions

It will wipe everything. Why not just start over and get a fresh start with a new update?
I've rooted my htc desire 820u(Indian Dual sim) running on Lollipop 5.0
Then I found MIUI 7 ROM in XDA site. So I tried to flash it after wiping all the data-system-cache-internal storage and it didn't go well and ended up with boot failure. But before doing so, I backed up all the data using TWRP (Boot-System-Data). So when i tried to restore the data, the process is finished successfully.
But when the phone is rebooted I got several error messages like "system ui crashed", "htc dot view crash" "package installer help crash". And notification bar and soft toggle keys are gone. Nothing is accessible now. I tried recovering the same 3-4 times. But the same happened every time. What should I do now?
PLEASE HELP ME.
Try to flash the Ota again. And than restore your backup. You will find the Ota zip in the development section. Dont try to flash KK over Lollipop. You cant downgrade.
Or try a factory reset after restoring, maybe it helps.

hi
Are you S-OFF ?
Are you sure about the ota is for your CID ?
Flashed it using RUU mode ( HTC Silver logo ) or just using fastboot only in bootloader ?
