[Q] [HELP PLEASE] Odin won't recognize. I've tried everything - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone. I was hoping you could help me.
My N7105 was softly bricked to I downloaded a firmware and flashed it, but I didn't realize it wasn't the right (Portuguese) version. Therefore I had no cell phone service.
I now have the right firmware, but the phone is no longer recognized by the computer
I've reinstalled the drivers and Odin and I've tried USB debugging. I've also tried another cable and it won't work. The phone simply isn't being recognized by the computer!
I have no way to flash the firmware and I don't know what to do
Help, please...
Thanks so much

This worked for me. Hope it works for you.
Go to download mode. Plug into USB port. Remove the battery when plugged in. And reinsert it. Odin should recognise the phone.
If your mobile switches off, retry a couple of times. If it still doesn't work, you might have to use some other computer.

Thanks for the feedback
Unfortunately I've tried that and it didn't work. I've also tried installing everything on another computer and trying there. Still no response.
Any ideas?

Try to flash your firmware using mobile Odin. It should do the trick. As far as I can tell it seems that the cable or port of ur phone is damaged.

[Q] Epic Fully Bricked???

Hello Everyone,
Captivate owner/user here, but had a question regarding a buddy's Epic. I have looked all over the forums, but have not found anyone else who has encountered this problem, so I apologize if this is a repeat thread. I believe my friend was running BakedSnack v1.6 with the DK28 modem. He went ahead and tried flashing ViperRom Trinity, and got stuck at the Samsung screen. I'm not familiar with flashing on this device, so I dont know the correct methods. I did however try to Odin his phone, and have failed to get my pc/odin to recognize his phone. I've tried every driver file I could find and nothing works. He has access to CWM so I hope it's not fully bricked. I figured his pc would recognize it, having has the drivers previously installed, but nothing. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks.
Try a different cable and a different USB port on the computer. These phones can be picky with the cables.
You are not bricked if you can get to CWM.

Originally, we kept trying on my Captivate's cable to no luck. My pc would not even beep or see it. Then we tried another micro usb cable, and this time my pc saw it, but couldnt identify it, due to drivers im assuming. That was as close as I got unfortunately...

Tried that driver already, still no luck. At first i was thinking my pc wasn't installing the driver correctly until he installed it on his computer and had no luck as well. I installed it multiple times and uninstalled it, still never recognized the phone.
might want to install the android sdk, i actually remember having issues as well on my win7 pc until i did that. then look for adb in C:\Program Files\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools or that relative to where you install it.

In order to Odin the phone you MUST be in Download Mode. Turn the phone off the press the 1 key while pressing the Power key.
Appreciate the replies everyone. I did have the phone in download mode when trying to Odin but it failed to show the COM message indicating its been recognized. Download & CWM work & boot up, but the computers don't recognize the device and every driver I've tried installing has had no effect.

If no com on the screen your drivers not installed correctly, try unplugging and plugin the cable back in. Try different pc with WinXP if u can cuz Win7 is a real pain unless u doing the drivers right after windows installation. Hope this helps.

The same thing happens with my Epic and new roms...
To solve it, I pull the battery, replace the battery and boot with the Samsung "three finger salute"...
Just hold power+camera+volume down and it will boot direct to recovery. Just reboot from recovery and it should work OK.

[Q] USB/Computer connection issue

Hello XDA!
I don't want to post a wall of text (not that tall of a wall, at least), so, I'll try to get to the point quickly. And yes, I have done a lot of searching, both on XDA and Google, and that will be proved soon enough with the solutions that I've tried so far.
The problem I'm currently experiencing is when I connect my phone to my computer, it charges but it isn't recognized. There is no USB notifications, no phone in My Computer, and no Windows pop up, whether it's a pop up asking me to install drivers or an unknown device has been connected, nothing. Mind you, everything has been working flawlessly, this just randomly, and I really do mean randomly, started happening. The phone has never been dropped and there is no water damage. I'm still using the USB cable that came with the phone. And, if it matters, I'm rooted, running the leaked LI8 JB ROM, stock kernel, and UVLEM baseband.
Here's a list of said solutions that I've tried so far:
Using a thin paint brush, wet the tip a little with alcohol and tried cleaning out the USB port
Connecting to a different computer, connecting with a different cable, connecting to any other USB ports on the computer
After making Nandroid backup: Data wipe/factory reset, flashing a different ROM
Remove Samsung USB drivers and reinstalling, also tried installing Samsung Kies
Uncheck USB debugging and restarting, checking USB debugging and restarting
Dialled *#7284#, select Modem, then reselect PDA, changing Qualcomm USB settings and changing it back to MTP + ADB
Turn off phone, remove battery for 30 sec, reinsert and boot up (soft reset to reset internal circuitry as described by a Samsung live chat service tech)
I might've left out a couple, but please do enlighten me of methods that you might know, I'll be sure to try it or let you know if it's already been attempted.
..also, when connected to my PC, under Settings > Battery, it shows "Charging (AC)" IIRC, this should be showing "Charging (USB)".
This next attempt stood out to me. I decided I would try and go back to the stock firmware, one where I would have to use Odin3. So, I put the phone in Download Mode, open up Odin3, connect the phone, and I get a pop up in Windows! It's trying to install drivers, and fails. I can't flash the stock Samsung firmware if I wanted to, even for warranty purposes. I do currently have the USB drivers installed, but my PC hasn't gone through the driver installation for when the phone is connected to the computer. So, I'm assuming that is why this is failing? I'm not entirely sure. But, when I saw this, I unplug the phone and plug it back in numerous times, to rule out that this might be a hardware problem. And, every time I plug it back in, it tries to install the drivers but fails. So, it's detecting my phone in Download Mode. I reboot and hope that it will detect normally, but no, it doesn't...
As a last resort, I went to Samsung.com and chatted with a service tech, he runs me through two procedures that I haven't done, the 'soft reset' and a 'master reset', which is done through Settings > Back up and Reset > Factory Data Reset. Neither worked, so, he then checks my IMEI and finds that I am still under the 1 year warranty and files a ticket for repair service. I asked him if there is a replacement warranty and he says that is done through my service provider (T-Mobile) with the Premium Handset Protection service, which I didn't add. Not because I didn't want to, but I can explain in later posts if someone is interested in why it wasn't added. So, now I have the return label in my inbox ready to be printed, taped onto a box containing my phone, and sent out. But, I can't go through with this because I have a custom ROM on the phone. There is no counter because I've already used Triangle Away, AFTER this started happening.
I am completely stumped... Any information is greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Also, I've disassembled the phone to check the MicroUSB port to see if any pins or prongs might've came loose. Everything is in tact.. I also wanted to see if the MicroUSB port was replaceable because I was able to find a spare MicroUSB ports on a website. But, it seems that the port isn't easily replaceable. It doesn't look removable, and I'm uncertain if it can be de-soldered to solder a replacement one on. Also, some thing caught my eye when I had it disassembled. There were two components of the phone that had SGH-I747 imprinted on them. I wasn't able to take pictures as I was in a rush to get it put back together, but thought it was of interest to bring up.
How do you have a custom ROM if you flashed the stock one? I'm confused..
Try installing drivers through the toolkit.
If windows recognized it in Download Mode, keep trying to unplug and replug the cable in the same and different ports until it installs?
This happened once on my Galaxy S 4G.
Uninstall all related drivers, kies, etc. Restart pc and download and install these drivers. (Should be latest)
http://d-h.st/zya
Or download and install latest version of kies. Drivers included.
Try connecting again.

I was never able to flash the stock firmware because my computer fails to install drivers for it. I've also tried using the drivers from the toolkit and it gave me no results.

I just hopped on right now after trying the different USB ports on my computer while in Download Mode. Same deal, it detects, tries to install drivers, then fails. It's coming up as an Unknown Device.

I currently have the latest Kies installed. I'm going to uninstall and give that link a shot, though. Hopefully, Odin3 will be able to detect it, at least, so I can get the stock firmware back on this thing...

Thank you for your input, but I doubt this would work in my situation. Ive tried connecting it to my laptop and another computer in the house and they both do not detect the phone. However, i would consider going that route as a last resort if there arent any other ideas.. i just need Odin3 to recognize it so i can revert and send it back in..
Any other suggestions, XDA? And thank you to those that responded!

[Q] Problem regarding super user and USB connection

Dear All,
I have encountered a problem with my note 2 that unfortunately closes a lot of doors for me to fix. I thought about asking you guys and hopefully this has not been asked before. Ok so my problem is that I had rooted phone ages ago and i had SuperSU installed with the root. Later on some official update came out and I let it update. After that I might have lost my root there and then not sure though. When I try to do something in root it won't let me, also it fails when trying to change super user app. What is killing me mostly is that any computer I connect using different cables, won't recognise my phone, as if it was not even connected although it charges normally. At first it was sometimes charging and not, sometimes freezing if connected to the USB. It might be hardware related but I want to try to fix this issue first to be sure. I can't even use Odin since it's not being detected so unrooting and going back to the seller is out of question.
Can anyone help me please? I am thinking of trying custom firmware through sdcard installation but i cant even install CWM and when using official recovery the package is not accepted. (signature issues). There may be some easy workaround I do not know of hence me asking you experienced guys.
Big thanks for reading this and hopefully helping me.
joshua
So you mean odin is not detecting phone in download mode ?
Try connecting the phone and see if adb works but I don't really think it would work. Try another cable. Could be that usb port is damaged.
Try another recovery.

No, Odin is not detecting the phone although it starts charging like normal. I will check adb later tonight when I am on my home pc. I have tried in total 4 different cables same result. I have used 3 different operating systems on different computers, still not detected. Usb port might be damaged but I don't think they will be happy seeing its rooted.(they being the store i bought it from, that is why I have not gone to them yet.
I have a similar issue since 4.1.2 however my phone is recognized by computer and odin in download mode, are you sure you tried it on download mode?

[Q] Help Flashing Back To Stock

I recently upgraded to the S5 and wanted to turn my phone back in to Sprint for a credit. When I went to flash it back to stock using Odin the USB connected then randomly disconnected during the flash. Now it won't boot into anything but emergency mode and wont stay connected in Odin long enough to flash. I made sure the drivers installed and the pc could see the phone when plugged in. I am using a cord that is only a couple of weeks old. At this point are there any options to put it back to stock or am I out of luck? I never used Kies either. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've tried about three different cables, all three USB ports and the only other laptop is a Windows 8 machine I can't get to detect the phone at this point. So it is sounding like my suspicions are confirmed on a successful flash. Thank you for the advice, love the signature btw!

ODIN issues....

Hello all. Hopefully someone can help me. I' having issues using ODIN on my SM-G965U1, unlocked US version. I have Win 10 Pro, the latest drivers from Samsung. I am using the Samsung cable out of the box. Included in the screenshot is my issue. ODIN just sits at setup connection, sometime it says failed to connect to serial(COM) port. I have tried the latest official versions as well as the modded by RaymonF and the PatcheD 3.13.1_3B version.
I'd appreciate any input on this. Thanks...oh, and my phone is on ARI1 firmware.
Maybe try using another USB port and see if that works.

Hope you've solved it by now, but I solved it by loading Odin, putting in the files, with phone plugged in of course, then rebooting the phone directly to download mode again while still plugged in. Leave Odin running the whole time, then once in download mode again, hit start in Odin and it will flash.
