So just curious. Are any devs working on or thinking of working on a port of Lollipop for the Find 7a? Haven't seen any hints of it in all my searching
Thanks!
It's on the way.
You can be sure, that at least omni and cm team are working on it.
Omni already confirmed that.
I think you will have to wait around 3-4 weeks.

Sweet.
Really sad theres no news of official lollipop yet
Its really sad to see that oppo has such a good phone but the software development is far behind every one here. Flagships like s5 or htc one m8 are already on their way of getting official lollipop while these guys are still stuck with 4.4.4 betas.
Dirty unicorns are too I'm pretty sure.
And while Oppo isn't the quickest with their own software, they are the only manufacturer actively encouraging custom ROMs, actually helping us with rooting and lend a helping hand when accidentally bricking our phones instead like others that either don't care at all (best case) or laughingly flip us the bird and telling us the warranty is now void forever.
That's worth more to me. (and residing in Sweden usually means waiting months longer for updates than the rest of the world)
Custom ROMs have always been more fun than stock anyway. Android shouldn't be about being the best device out of the box, it should be like LEGOs, turning it into whatever you want it to be. Making it the best device for YOU

THIS!!
With all the hate in the Oppo forums, I honestly feel bad for Oppo. They encourage different ROM usage, and this is how they get treated? Ugh. I support Oppo with their different stance on Android!

Yeah, and they ARE trying to improve their process for stock firmwares too. The problem is - they're obviously understaffed and having trouble hiring people with experience to fix this. (Since they have no physical presence in the West, and that makes it hard to hire Western developers as many aren't willing to relocate.)
From my end, I'm just happy it's being worked on. I have nothing but good things at this point to say about OPPO. Cool company.

Very true, and they are the first Chinese smartphone manufacturer to really make a break for the international market. I'm sure there is quite a bit of hurdles that needs to be dealt with along the way.
In this day and age though, it would be fairly easy to arrange for some type of remote consulting work not requiring relocation.
I could think of a few developers on the spot that would be a tremendous gain for Oppo... *looking hintingly on Entropy512*

Part of the issue is, many of the people qualified to help Oppo here already HAVE jobs and might not want to leave them. Or if they want to leave them, the circumstances have to be right. For example, I really can't consider leaving my job unless it's a long-term thing. After the Cyngn N1 fiasco, I can understand Oppo being extremely cautious regarding making long-term commitments to be dependent on outside partners.
CyanogenMod is currently working on it. I must say it works pretty well considering it hasn't even made it to nightlies yet. It should be great once nightlies and milestones start rolling out.

OK, I've been through the windows 7 forums over the past couple of weeks and noticed there's really no hacks, or even custom rom builds for that matter. I did see a root file. Can anyone provide a compiler of the before and after or know link to the aforementioned? I'll look and see what I can do for you guys.
I did see someone say something bout liking the windows phone but wanting to run android. That would be one hell of a task but I'm willing to give it a go. Anyway, if I can get those files I'll see if I can't find a open port somewhere and get backdoor access to allow an overwrite.

No hacks?!? I'm pretty sure there are custom ROMS (dft) and hacks galore! Not so much for 2nd gen devices but if you want to make a fully unlocked ROM for the Samsung Focus S, then I'm sure the community would appreciate that
P.S. congrats on the free phone.
Well thank you, and sure why not. I need the source for before and after rooting so I can see which port the root tool used. It shortens the work I have to do. Like I said I've been through the windows 7 section, but without the phone I don't know exactly what I'm looking at without trying it out myself. With-all-do0respect to the developers in this section, I don't really trust a file til I try it myself. And what I see is a device manager, which is essential (congrats to the builder,) and game emulators. Not so much custom builds which is what I'm referring too.
Well I dunno what phone you've got, but instead of the Windows Phone Development section, try looking up the phone that you've got. I have an HTC HD7 and I'm currently running a custom rom and running plenty of 'hacks' as you say - they're all found in my phones proper section like this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=778
oh, I see. However, all windows 7 phones are subject to paying Microsoft $99 to unlock there phone as developer phones. I'm looking to bypass that and have the phones on windows 7 allowed complete access to there hardware and let them run whatever they choose.
Find the forum for whatever phone that you have and do some reading....LOTS of reading....you'll find what you're looking for mate
@the_wrangler. I've been Modding my phone or ages now. I'm looking to release the windows 7 phones from the noose. I want everyone to be able to run what they want. Not what's provided. Didn't know that was so hard to understand. At least in the g2x section if someone asked for something and gave a reason it was provided. Not that they have to pull have teeth to get it.

Your chances of getting anything with your approach is somthing less than zero. If you had actually ready "everything" in these forums you would understand that some very smart people have been working these issues for a very long time. What you are asking for is the most difficult problem facing WP7 users and something the devs here have been working on for years. You make it sound like a minor request that someone should provide you immediately. Sorry buddy, you understand very little about what you are asking. If it were that simple, it would have been done by now and believe me, no one has been sitting around waiting for you to come along and ask. Give it a try yourself, we have all been waiting for a saviour to come along and deliver to us the holy grail of WP7 freedom.
Sorry to be so short with you, but this is absurd.
Oh, no offense taken, be as short as you please. But now look at it this way. The "devs" you claim are so smart should have no problem compiling and providing for someone who's looking to help. They should understand the difficulty and be looking for anyone to help. This in its own shows how "smart" and how high in esteem you hold them. Take it down a notch. What I'm asking is quite simple. Does anyone have access to or can provide a file that contains a stock windows 7 set up before rooting and then files after rooting. If not, then "smart" is the wrong term. Especially since devs understand that this is a very simple process. It's as simple as accessing your phone via UMS and making a zip for me and them doing the same after rooting and providing a log at with the root files. Since I don't know when I'm getting the phone, I guess y'all are out of luck till I get it.

This isn't android and a lot of the file systems are still locked down despite all the work that's been done. To ask for a full set-up like that is a large bill to fill regardless. Don't take my word for it though, just try when you get yours. I truly wish you well in your endeavors, but building toms on android and modifying kernels is simple. WP7 isn't haphazardly tossed together and broken like android and it's infinite holes.
If I didn't know any better I would think some of you are actively trying to discourage people from working with WP7. smh
@OP There's a sticky in the Dev & Hacking subforum (here) that has some useful info in it, and you're all always welcome to PM me if you ever need help with anything.
@z33dev33l I know its not android. Something everyone seems to miss is windows is windows. Doesn't matter where it is it's still windows. Which is why I'm willing to help you guys. I know how difficult it is to bypass a complete windows firmware set up. Again I'm willing to try and figure out. I thank you xHausx for supporting this.

I'm sorry, I don't intend to discourage. Pulling a dump like this is fairly tough and there are aspects we can't fully access yet. I hope you do open up some possibilities (though if I see android on hardware as beautiful as the lumia 900 I'll cry and vomit simultaneously) and I can give you what I've pulled both pre and post-root once I'm back home Monday. The main problem is no file system access pre-root.

Access is as easy as USM, cmd, CD to whatever the phone directory is, ls (it'll list every file in it), and then there's one more command that I can't remember that'll compile everything. Guess that's what I get for thinking to soon after waking up. Now if you'll excuse me I think my head us gonna explode.

The phone's been out for 2 months.. Or a month. Don't remember. But coming from the Nexus 4 forums and SGS (2) forums, this is quite a disappointment. I think it's due to the fact that LG's reputation isn't that good, and a lot of people are overlooking this phone because it's simply not as popular as the SGS3.
Probably a lot of truth to that statement.. shame too because as someone who used several of the more popular phones I truly find the LGOG to be the best of the bunch.
Either way I feel like this phone is more than worth the wait for different development..
I could lay on a hand on it but i don't have optimus g.
I bought my HOX instead LGOG because there's no official set over malaysia and i needed a daily driver.
As now LGOG is able to be unlocked bootloader and already have cwm.
I can contribute porting CM10.1 (4.2) and some other's work.
Just require some details as for sure.
-system partition info
-a copy of stock boot.img
-can it be restore via kdz?
-some tester that not afraid to brick their device
I hope to help.Such a beast but lack of dev is just a weird thing over here.
Maybe it's quite rare and hard to get over other's country such as M'sia.
If community can get dev a phone that will be lovable but work come first.
Cheers

Hey thanks for your help, CM10.1 dev has already begun in the development forums. Mostly everything works except for capacitive buttons, wifi and nfc.
If you can discuss with that team you might be able to find what you're looking for. I can get you partition information though I'm just wondering HOW to do that. I can also upload stock boot.img and yes it can be restored via KDZ.

I think that this device is not very widely available at present so development will initially be slow. Having just searched eBay i managed to find one device for just under £500, i paid £420 2 weeks ago off eBay. I think the device release will be very limited and dont think it wil hit UK shores at all. The people who have this phone in any flavours shou be grateful and just go with the flow

Not surprised... Everyone wants the SGS3. Plus so many different versions doesn't help either. I'm having trouble trying to sell one on Kijiji for $400...
I looked on kijiji and found maybe yours, maybe another, I'm just wondering why do you want to sell your optimus G ? some battery bug ? Some preference for another phone ? Anyway, 1. I'm on koodo so I need the e973 model, 2. I need to get some money after the holydays before I buy that phone

So basically they say: We want to make sure Android has an amazing experience on all devices.
AKA: Performance optimization, less RAM usage by system, faster app loading. At least, that's what I guess
so, what are the odds of the Gnex getting this? even with the possible performance optimization.
Does the fact Google didn't jump a full version number bode well for us nexus folk?

if I get this correctly, Google is working on something that would be available for all, or at least for the majority of devices? How can this possibly take place? Is Google trying to establish one version of its own OS for all, same as the iOS goes for all iphones, and then evolve that? Maybe with some small code changes for different type of phones? Kinda confusing statement but I guess its good news. Boy, I can see how the upcoming update will put XDA forums on fire. And definately this is going live by the end of this year.
PS: Judging by the name Google must have paid a great amount of money as using a name/brand of chocolate that popular is a great deal.
Android 4.4 should use Google's 4.8 toolchain! :good:
where is the OTA ?!?

apparently, google went to nestle (or who ever makes KitKats) and they reached a "no money changed hands" deal in 24 hours.
its a good deal for both IMO.
google would have to pay for the kitKat name, KitKat gets free advertising, everyone is happy with no money.
I think google just wanted the name, and it happened to work out that KitKat was OK with that and happy for the advertising.
i would personally never buy a KitKat, but now that i have a chance to win something android, i am going to be buying up the stores
I wouldn't put much stock into the "available to everybody" phrase on the KitKat Android page.
The closest we've had is the slow trickle of apps being unpaired from the system core and launched on Google Play instead.
That's assuming we're even talking about software, that line is so vague it could mean anything (and possibly nothing, just marketing talk due to the 1 billion device activations).
for me what matters is "an amazing Android experience", I think something about a better user interface probably
in my opinion it's still not sure if we get it or not
Ps: on the bottom of the page it says: "Sign up to learn more when we launch the release", so it's not going to launch soon..1-2 months?
Pps: http://kitkat.com/ website is down, too much visits probably, they are having a break

That website is interesting. I know they are playing with the idea of the KitKat having a whole phone spec thing. But I wonder how much of that could be little hints to what is coming with android. We all know how Google likes to tease and play with our minds.

Nothing to do with the ZL - this should be in the Android General forum.
Beak me off a piece of that KitKat bar yo!
In all seriousness, all we know is a name so far. There are rumors under the key lime pie codename but that's it. We won't be seeing an official ROM from Sony on the ZL until Q4 2014 or even H1 2015. We will be lucky if we have 4.3 officially by the end of the year.
Saying all that. The version numbers aren't very important now that Google has separated most of their services from their OS. In a way that is very good because we get most of the latest features that gets rolled out with the various gapps updates without having to wait for the features to be updated with the ROM.
Since I like to rock it stock, I am looking forward to an official 4.3 release for our phone to have native TRIM support.

Google hit a point where there's no more innovation. It used to be every time an Android update hit, massive sweeping changes were implemented that completely changed the experience. Now, we're lucky if it's smoother or better battery life.
I keep hoping they will announce 5.0, but even then I have to wonder exactly what they would have as a feature to make you go "WOW!"

I'd be happy with better battery life!
I don't see the problem with the cross promotion. It came out of a Google engineer's genuine enjoyment of the confection that resulted in a friendly promotional deal that benefited both parties without money changing hands. This is a rarity in business.
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23926938
As for innovation, I don't think we will see anything major for a little while. The core experience had made a huge leap with the introduction of Android 4.0. Google has been introducing small changes that, as a user, I wouldn't have known about if I didn't keep up with tech news. For the most part, technical changes to the OS can really be mostly appreciated by the developers and those of use that care about technical details. Most users are given updates and innovations in the form of updated Google apps and services which Google has been separating from the underlying OS. In the cases where we don't like things that Google provides, we have the great developers here who help us make the most of what we want; the way we want it. ArsTechnica did a pretty good writeup if you want to read it.

I don't see the problem with the cross promotion. It came out of a Google engineer's genuine enjoyment of the confection that resulted in a friendly promotional deal that benefited both parties without money changing hands. This is a rarity in business.

It's still business, and Nestle benefits from it greatly. Nestle are a company with a very, very dirty history and if I wanted to support them, I'd buy their products - which I don't. Ever. This deal gives free advertising to them and their products and if I want the latest version of Android, I do not have a choice but to buy into that. If the Google engineer enjoys that confection, he should go out and buy a ton of it with his salary and that should be the end of it having anything to do with Android.

Hi everyone.
I just noticed that currently there's just one developer (Raghu varma) who's developing for our Hanoip devices; last month i noticed that his XDA threads had been closed by his own request. I searched a little more, and i noticed that many of his other development threads from other devices were also closed (by his request i guess)
Does this means that development for our device are kind of abandoned?
Also, there's a telegram group that publish his roms (and any other from this device, if any) and there aren't new posts since august 27.
Does anyone knows anything? :'s
I don't know, I'm using aosp13 and there are basically no bugs
i've found this,
sad

So...one guy in one device forum...made him stop all development for all devices? Sounds a bit extreme, but...I gotta say, I kinda understand where is he coming from with all this.
Hardware is expensive. Even building on a Google virtual machine costs money. And when you're building multiple ROMs for multiple devices, that means lots and lots of TBs of storage, and a pretty beefy computer so you can finish all that work preferably before New Year's.
Also, I know this kind of people. People who love to just complain about everything. I see them everywhere. And it drives me crazy. It's like nothing is good enough for them. They keep complaining and demanding stuff. And they tend to forget all the work and all the time that goes into this. They just don't appreciate it. I mean, it's not all about the money. Although, as I said, hardware is expensive, and...you do need to eat, once in a while. So...a little something would be really appreciated. But when you're doing it for free, and you don't even get a thank you; instead, you only see complaints and requests and people demanding things to be done in a certain way, in a certain time...you get sick of it pretty fast.
People like this don't care enough to see the good in anything. Everything is trash, everything is not worth anything (even when you get it for free!), so...yeah. The rest of the post has been removed (and I'm sure it was for a good reason), but I can imagine what was probably there before.
So I kinda understand his decision. Development is not easy. And it can be expensive, if you want hardware. So...yeah, when you see people like that who are just not ok with anything, you kinda wanna give up on everything and move on. Cause you feel like nothing is worth your time more than your own life and your own peace of mind.

The post has been closed, and the bluetooth of that rom can only be paired and cannot be connected to use and the android auto cannot be initialized. I think this may be related to the bluetooth failure. . . . . Well if it weren't for these two questions I think it's pretty good. . . . . Pity

Thank you.

Well, in fact, I used three roms made by him. Among them, los does not have its own Google suite, which does not meet Google's requirements, so it can't run Android auto. However, aosp and pe come with Android auto and Google suite. but apparently they face the same bug there must be a bug somewhere and i will have to go back to the official rom to get me to use android auto

To be honest there is nothing to hide but ultimately the background music with hate is just making me more headache to deal with these few haters. Even though if you look in to my works from last 3 years to till date. I am following my protocol with proper terms & conditions. So just dealing with few new haters in a positive way. On top of it i don't even care about other developers unless they do something to me or some friendship from long but ultimately if you look in to his posts, he himself posting all drama . So better he should surrender with his own scrap. I am out from this so kindly from now i request XDA moderators to ban all these story writers who post racism/criticism/nepotism stories.
By the way the Kang word doesn't even fit to me because ultimately according to GPL my kernel source is always publicly available and you can take that and share to XDA DRT team. Iam ready for it. Most importantly i already told to everyone in all places( inside & outside XDA )as well "if anyone have issues with authorship then come to me, will review and proceed accordingly but if i identify the commit is fishy then i will discard on face" but ultimately few knew only creating drama.
Thanks for your time moderator.
Cheers
because one useless guy there complain about bugs.... so simple
