I WENT BACK TO STOCK TO GET THE ZVE UPDATE . I USED STUMP TO ROOT INSTALLED SUPERUSER THEN AUTOREC.I READ YESTERDAY THAT I ALSO NEED TO USE TWRP 2.8 . I NEED TO GET THIS VERSION ONTO MY LS980 SINCE THERE ISN'T AN OFFICIAL VERSION FOR OUR PHONE AS OF YET.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME THE STEP BY STEP SO THAT I CAN GET AFFLICTION BACK ON MY PHONE? THANKS IN ADVANCE.
just curious
why would you put affliction rom on your phone which runs on zvd, when you have the more advanced zve version on your phone installed
does not make sense
phone runs fine on the latest zve version, so I see no reason to change.
If you want to get rid of some the the bloat use something like titanium backup to freeze the bloat and you are fine to go.
Have not seen any rom for sprint on the zve version that works.
zve on affliction rom
Just curious to see what zve had to offer. Am now back to the great 'sprintless' affliction. Here's fingers crossed for 5.0!
Try this and enjoy

I've been keeping up with the thread since day one. Since I don't have a back-up [ Black Friday/Cyber Monday around the corner! ] I think I'll hold off awhile before taking the plunge. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have a Sprint LG G2 (LS980). Current rom version is ls980zva. I want to update to Kitkat, but the software update options stays on "waiting for download" and never actually downloads the ls980zvc rom.
Not sure if this is because I rooted. I did remove some bloats after rooting which I restored but still the download does not work.
I am not using this phone in the US, so there is no sprint service available. But I am able to download and browse stuff on the phone from my current providers service.
Any help or suggestions? Thanks!

best bet to get 4.4.2 is to run the zvc .tot. fast and easy than ioroot 25 gets root back just as quick and painless

Yea, if you wanted the ota, in short you would have to grab the stock non rooted firmware kies , I prefer Odin and just get back to stock stock. You may be able to hide root, and grab the ota but I've never got into that. I prefer to back up whatever needs it via titanium saved to ext card, wipe completely and just start fresh with the kk update. That way you getbthe modem, you get the boot loader, the new partitions etc etc and IMO a more solid user experience. Some may beg to differ, but, updates are updates for a reason and ne6 is far more stable and reliable than nb4 was. Kernel source is cleaner, ROM bits were cleaned up, volte was added and its just better. If you've never checked tweaked ROM out before man, you are missing out. Its the way touch wiz was meant to be, dwitherall is a friggin smali destroyer, and his work is the work others strive to do. Thats just my two cents and what I would do, but if you wanted to just flash a kk ROM right now, ya probably could, but you aren't getting the benefits of why is was the upgrade in the first place. Users may disagree with my statement but, the real devs, would agree ne6 is a far more solid base to be on, and once tweaked is done is game over. Thanks for the time man
Hello everybody,
I had on my LS980 device the cloudyg3 rom and i wanted to go back stock.
So i flashed the firmware and all is good except for one problem: I've got no knock-on (knock-off works great tho), and i understood that's happening because the g3 rom is changing the touch firmware.
When i'm going to the hidden menu i don't have the update touch firmware and if i update to the ZVD build it's all working - but the battery is sucks on this build.
What can i do to fix this WITHOUT going to the ZVD build? Currently on 4.4.2 (ZVC, LS980)
Thanks

I have a similar problem. Had received an update two weeks ago and forgot no to accept it since I was rooted and modded and of course, soft bricked my phone in recovery mode. So I was able to re-install the latest stock software and re root and mod it but in the process lost the knock on feature.
Its been a pain ever since. In my opinion the knock ON and OFF features are the best and most useful option since sliced bread. ITs a damn pain not having it

tbh the latest update from sprint fixes this prob... but it has terrible batterylife so i had to go back one build
I fixed it by flashing SuperG2 ROM, then flashing the HiddenMenu.apk found on that same thread in the OP. After that, I had the hidden menu which I used to update the touch firmware. Then I tot back to ZVC and everything works again

I cant seem to find this HiddenMenu.apk that I'm seeing everywhere. Could you please share a link to it? I'm on ZVC with no knock on after updating to it from a ZV7 tot. I cant find the "update touch firmware" button in the stock ZVC hidden menu from 5689#*980#. Any help is a appreciated, thank you.

I have a lg g3 (verizon) with 5.0.1 rooted. Is it safe to update to 5.1.1? Has anyone tried? I want to but im afraid it'll break my root completely or my phone will brick. I can't lose my root because ill lose a lot of features. So if someone has tried or is willing to try that'd be awesome!
Same boat. I'll be watching this for an answer.

Reflash stock recovery and you should be fine
OTA usually removes root. You can reroot it after you install the OTA
No update for the d855 or other versions ?!

I have the Verizon G3 with 5.01. The 35B OTA wouldn't even install until I restored the factory image.

Well I recommend a clean TOT or KDZ flash. Hope this will fix your problem. Please do follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 to flash TOT or KDZ then update via OTA. Thanks!
DO NOT TAKE THE UPDATE
...if you want root, etc. Currently there is no way to root 35b and no way to roll back to an earlier version. They patched some things up it seems.
Some brave souls took the update and are stuck now... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/post63200915#post63200915
Freeze with tibu (or delete) the system update apk to stop the notification.

I just update my rooted 5.0.1 VS985 to 5.1.1, gotta say , this new system is more battery save. i turn on the music and LG health and mobile data when i took exercise tonight for about 2 hours, and it's only cost 3% of the battery.and you know, lots of useless Verizon apps and others, but it's fine, i can disable it in app manager.
Yea I noticed that with this new update as well.
I'm little sour about being in un-rooted state.
But the battery life is noticeably better.
Maybe this option was there but I noticed new options under the developer setting where you can restrict amount of background apps running. I believe this helps out a lot as well.
Just an update on the update...
On vs985 it looks like someone was able to successfully TOT back from the 35B update, so people shouldn't be stuck anymore if they took the OTA(see post 84 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ing-takethe-vs98535b-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/page9). Root is still not available for people who took the 35B OTA yet, but there are 2 stock based rooted 35B ROMs available now: Jasmine and Skydragon. I think the only thing that isn't functional is advanced calling because we can only use the 24b modem with the 35b ROM due to the 12b bootloaders we have that allow us to have TWRP...or something like that. So it'll be a 35b ROM and all it's updated glory - running a 24b modem.
Is there a one click program someone has created for this? I'm wondering about when the D851 gets MM from LG and would like to test it out? I have seen the latest tmobile rom posted, can I just flash that and it keeps twrp?, but makes it stock? OTA and all that? When I had my nexus 5 I used a program WUGFRESH that was a nice GUI and walked noobs like me through the process go to and from stock and back to custom roms.
