OMG That sucks hard!! Have you tried twisting it {gently} while the screen is on to see if it changes it? I have had luck like that on a monitor once. Still it only worked for a couple of weeks though, Looks like a trip to samsung is all that will fix that . I sure feel for ya man. I have the same Tab. Is yours a refurb? Mine is .... only had mine for about a month, Hope mine holds up, I cant afford any repairs after paying so much for it. let us know how it goes. good luck!:crying:
did you re-flash it? Id try to flash it in odin first. like download the latest firmware from Sammobile, and put it in download mode etc. Sure looks like hardware, but you never know couldn't hurt anything.

It was brand new from Best Buy, not a refurb unit. I couldn't even get to the download mode or recovery because I can't see anything on the screen lol. I was able to run Kies on my computer and restore to factory setting but still nothing. I suspected it's not a software issue but hardware.
Weird thing is I didn't do anything to it, no drop, always in a case since day one, and always babied. It just happened out of the blue when I plugged in my headphone to watch a movie..
So suck! Look like I will have to contact Samsung for a repair.

Oh if it's doing it on recovery, and download screens it must be hardware. Mine was a refurb from Newegg and they shipped it in a bubble envelope. That was crummy packaging for a 500$ device. I was surprised it powered on.
Did you try best buy? I don't know their return policy, but maybe they would take mercy on you since it's such a high end device. I really have no idea tho. Wow...no drop, or anything, is terrifying to me because I baby mine too. Scary. This tab was right at the edge of what I can afford so it would stay broken for a very long time before I could afford to have repairs done. Best of luck, and keep us posted!

A little update, I sent this back to Samsung and they sent me a new replacement tablet with the same specs in about 2 weeks. Bravo Samsung!

[Q] Blue light, Nothing else goes on!

I know there must be somewhere in the thread but i can't find one with the same problem as mine. I was in middle of odin to put my phone back to stock. and it was stuck for over a half hr at the same place. so i unplugged it and tried to put it back on but it wont go the only thing that turns on is the blue light. i already tried the jig. its a no go. how can i unbrick this phone?
My phone has shut itself off then when i try to turn it back on i get nothing but a blue light what worked for me was taking the battery out for a couple minutes then trying it again. Have you tried that?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
That happened to me when the phone first came out. Only a blue light came on and nothing else. Even the jig didn't work. I ended up just selling it and buying a new one. I hope someone has figured out a way to fix it for you

You have hard bricked your phone most likely. Like it was said, you can try to remove the battery for a few minutes to see if resetting the capacitors will fix it but I am ninety nine percent sure that it will not work. You have two options.
1) Play dumb at a sprint store
2) JTAG repair from mobiletechvideos
What you have done is flashed over the bootloader so you can no longer boot it or plug it into the computer. Can you post a link to the file that you flashed? My guess is that you flashed an i9000 tar and PIT which is not compatible with the E4GT. Not all Galaxy S2 phones are the same. In fact, they are all different.

I did the exact same thing when I first rooted my phone but by the grace of god odin still recognized it so I was able to flash back to stock.

That my friend is exactly right. Your cell is gone... Swap or jtag is your only options.
I am going to give the, "taking the battery out for a couple of min", a shot... I was afraid that those two were my last options. The phone is maybe 2 months old and I am not with sprint anymore. Is there a way to claim through warranty or something?

Good question... I do believe that there is a one year manufacturer warranty, but don't know how you would go about making a claim. I would definitely recommend the jtag service its only like $50. Even sprint would charge you $35 to swap if you were still with the m. So if you look at out that way $15 more ain't so bad.

Remove battery. Replace. Plug into charger. Does the batt charging screen come on? If so hold power until it boots. Done. Do your happy dance.. If no charge indication = brick.
The batt recharge didnt come on ill see if i can somehow claim by samsung if not then ill have to send it in to jtag

This same thing happened to me!
What did you end up doing?
This happened to me too, but after flashing gunslinger kernel. I did a battery pull, then it let me boot into recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
same thing happened to me, went back to best buy where i got it and said "i dont know what happened", got a new one on the spot.
On top of it, when i got it at best buy they price matched amazon mobile, so i got it for 130
I Also bought it from Best Buy! But it was two months ago... You think i can still do it by them?
After an hour of searching forums I had realized that the phone was dead and wasn't coming back on. I too had the same blue light problem, couldn't get into recovery, couldn't do anything with the black screen. I took it to Sprint, and they don't have the capability of turning it back on in store. I believe this needs to be done by Samsung, and I imagine Best Buy wouldn't be able to either. The tech told me if he could not repair it, it would be replaced. My concern was the ship time and getting a refurbished unit. He told me because the phone was so new they are almost always replaced with a new unit. He said it was $35 because I didn't have insurance, but to "Come back after an hour, and if I can't fix it and it is insured it will be replaced free of charge." I went home, had Sprint add insurance, went back to the store a couple hours later. They swapped out my unit for a brand new one, free of charge, in about 5 minutes, activated and all. I was very pleased with how everything went as I was PISSED at myself for bricking my phone so bad! In all my years of hacking Palm Pres and Evos I never bricked a phone so bad that it couldn't be powered back on! But now I have a new GS2 (ROOTED )!
I recommend just trying a Sprint Repair Center. I bought mine over the phone. I played dumb and said that I let it die completely, which I rarely do, and when I charged it the blue light went on and it never powered back up. They said that was weird but gave no qualm about it. Hope this helps..

My replacement phone is way worse than original!

Guys I need some suggestions. About 2 weeks ago I dropped my S3 and smashed the screen. So I used my insurance and ordered another one. I absolutely loved my S3 before......
But the new one that they sent me is absolutely slow and laggy and its driving me insane! Everything I do takes a tiny split second longer than normal, but after a while it gets very annoying. Especially since I know what a perfect working one feels like.
When I press the side button to unlock the phone, its laggy lighting up.
When I swype to unlock the phone, its laggy getting to the home screen.
When I hit the bottom home button, its laggy coming back.
You get my drift...
My original was super quick and snappy, and now this thing is driving me nuts.
What would you suggest that I do? Its been this way right out of the box.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Root it and install a custom ROM, most of them will make even a good device feel umpteen times better. If it's still running poorly after you've tried a few ROMs then box it back up and take it to a store or call the insurance company back and explain the problem.

Thanks, yea ive thought about rooting it. Ive just never rooted a phone before so I was hoping there was something I could do that was basic and might fix the problem.
It seems unlikely it's a hardware problem. I'd start with a factory reset and see it it's still laggy, then slowly install apps until you figure out what's slowing down the phone.
I'd guess something in the background is grabbing CPU cycles.
update?

Just out of curiosity, did your replacement device look brand new...or did it look refurbished? They say you cant tell, however, i do know from experience that refurbished phones can show some damage. The reason i'm asking is because the Galaxy SIII is so new i would find it amazing that they already have refurbished devices to distribute on insurance claims. If it was brand new you would know. I would call sprint or your insurance provider and demand a new phone if the lag doesnt resolve itself. Sprint charges almost DOUBLE the price for insurance on the galaxy SIII compared to many other devices. I would be pissed if i didn't get a prefect SIII.
Also, I would strongly advise picking up an OtterBox case for your SIII, those things can keep your phone safe during a nuclear war.

If its refurbished it will have a sticker under the battery near the IMEI & S/N information with a date when it was refurbed... u can also look under ##786# under "reconditioned status"
I just got a replacement a few hours ago

My replacement I think it's new
I got it from best buy
The only problem I have is that the usb port is really square on the cover and kinda sharp too
Also on my box there's a sticker that says updated

[Q] Hard Bricked, possibly hardware?

Hey guys,
I've been having issues for the past month or so with random reboots while using the phone followed by boot loops requiring a battery pull to get it to work again. At first I thought it was a software issue, so I returned to stock, which didn't help, and then installed a few other roms. I'm 99% sure it is a hardware failure, as now the phone is completely dead. It was fine when I went to bed, and in the morning it showed no signs of power (or heat). I tried 2 different batteries and 3 chargers, so I'm pretty sure it's toast. It does not show up in the device manager so I can't odin or KIES recover to stock, or do anything else with it for that matter. Download mode doesn't work, and the phone is literally a useless hunk of plastic.
Having said that, I am getting a replacement phone. What I'm concerned about is if the storage on the phone will be examined upon receipt by either T-Mo or Samsung. I was using CM10 when it went dark, however because it was working (with the random reboots still) the night before I'm pretty sure it's not a flashing issue (as it worked fine after the flash, well as fine as a phone does that randomly reboots).
Do they have the capability to remove the storage from the phone and check it against something else? Is there a way to wipe it without being able to odin/power it on?
Am I over thinking this? Will they just send it back to samsung who will test the power, then pitch the phone?
Is there anything else I should try to do to fix it?
Thanks for your time.
You could by a USB download mode jig for like $5 to see if it can get you into download mode. I wouldn't worry about the storage too much.
If it's completely bricked (like can't even get the bootloader to pick up), not charging, and still under warranty, odds are they will just replace it without wasting too much time on it.
Would the download jig do anything better than just plugging it into the computer with the buttons down? I didn't flash a bad kernel or anything like that (as in it booted and rebooted a few times without new issues) and it was a sgh-t989 kernel (which I used the buttons to get into recovery with).
I do have the replacement on the way, as it's my work phone too so I really need it next week. If the general consensus is not to worry about it I may just leave it. The water indicator isn't pink so I'm in good shape, and if they see it's bad and it's not worth the time to repair I doubt they would audit it/do additional tests.
Also, on the plus side I had 1 tiny microscratch in the year I've had the phone and it would fill with finger oils (really only obnoxious on white backgrounds). Here's to a scratch free screen!

Are you sure your phone does not charge or it just doesn't simply turn on? Try testing your battery, maybe if a friend has a similar GS2 you can try your battery with his to see if it still works. The try the USB Jig mentioned above to get in to download mode if you haven't done so yet.
Depending on when you got your phone and if you have the original receipt you can try contacting Samsung and get a RMA code to send the phone to a be fixed at a support center. Your last option would be to sell the phone for parts if it's still in any good condition. Good luck!

Thanks alot. Where's the best place to buy a USB Jig. I couldn't sell my phone for parts, I'd smash it to pieces first. Sounds dumb but that's how I roll. I tried a different battery that didn't work. A USB jig is my last hope, Unless there's a place I could send it for repair outta my pocket. Guess I gotta excuse to buy the Note ll now.

Since you seem like the type who likes to mess around with things, you can try making a USB jig on your own. This site has great instructions on how to do so. If you have a USB cable which I'm sure you do and go to your closest electronics store you can find some resistors. Hopefully that will help you out before you go ahead with buying the Note 2, GS4 or whatever the next expensive flagship phone is, lol. Good luck!

Yeah per my original post I couldn't get into download mode, and the failure wasn't caused by an improper kernel flash.

[Q] Brand New Note 3 problem

Hi guys, I have a weird problem and I need your advice.
My brand new galaxy Note 3 Sm-N900T is having screen blackouts....
Its like after the screen timeout the screen goes off and then when I press the power button it doesn't go back on again.
Or if I turn the screen off it doesn't go back on again... the buttons are working the sounds are on, I can answer calls and everything but the screen is black.
If I play with it (pressing power or home buttons) for a while it comes back on. Sometimes the phone restarts (rarely, I think because i press power button).
I have tried everything from playing with settings to wiping the cache and resetting the phone few times.
It looks like its a software issue to me, or maybe sensor.. but i think that when power button is pressed the screen should turn on regardless of sensors.
I do have the custom S-Case but I had the issue even before I got that.
Now.. I have few choices :
1. Go to t-Mobile and get a replacement.. probably refurbished, not a fact that the problem will away because I heard of lots of people having this issue ...
I of course do not want to do that.. I have this phone for less than a month.
2. Wait for KitKat....
3. install some kind of custom rom and see if problem goes away.
If anyone can help, Id really appreciate it.
I would do an exchange.. you paid good money for it and a defect is a defect, I wouldn't depend on a 3rd party patch for this

sucks man.
I know on my htc onei have the purple camera problem but everything else was fine. they had to send me 2 replacements because the first one had a yellow screen and worse camera then mines.
Tmobile doesnt even check there replacement. Most of the time there phones that people traded in. And all they do with those is a power on check.
Now if you just got the phone and within the 14 exchange you can take it to the store and get a brand new one.
Had it for more than 2 weeks now.. since i was always playing with it i did not notice the problem .. (the screen was always on).
I called Samsung and Tmobile. I told tmobile that samsung said i have a defective phone. so Tmobile is sending me a "Like new" phone meaning that someone returned it within 14 days. I get to check it and if i dont like it i will just send them their phone back. and suddenly mine doesnt do the problem for 30 minutes lol.. maybe it got scared. Personally i think that KitKat would fix it.
Any force closes? I had this problem too untill I stopped using the crapy My Magazine bloatware, which was also sometimes force closing...
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
No, no force closes, but one time it was funny, a little bit of status bar appeared from the bottom and on top it was a little bit cutoff.... like someone slid the screen up few pixels.
And whatever was cut just came from the bottom. Its weird... for $700 phone it should be flawless... I hope they dont send me crap phone and i hope they dont send my phone to someone else.
How can i get rid of it to see if that was the problem?

I figured id try to reflash (not data reset, but reflash via Kies) so far so good no problem.
The whole thing looks like soft prob, not hard.
If it comes back Ill let you know. This could be a nice fix if works.
I'm in nyc, and my local store called the warrenty center and got me a brand new SGS2 one time. It still had all the blue plastic in the sim card and sd card slots, and plastic on the screen. So I'm know they can request it, just depends on your store if they are willing.

Well, I dont know what to think anymore... Looks like the problem persists but happens so rare that without the past I wouldnt notice it.
This makes me believe that with KitKat it will probably disappear. If soft changes cause this to go away or be less it means (to me) that the phone is not defective. New phone is still on the way, to bad I did not purchase it at local store... I did it online, so there is no one to yell at.
It will arrive on Feb 6th so I have plenty of time to test my phone, with some luck KitKat will roll out during this time and then I will be able to definitely see. And if new phone is cool I have the option of exchange anyway .
Thank you all for your help, keep posting, its an interesting issue.
:/
Phone went worse and worse everyday ... now the S-Pen "Air Command" doesnt pop up, several weird disfunctions...
Waiting for the replacement.

[Q] SDS? Hardware or Software Issue?

I am in need of help! My phone is dead. Here's the rundown
AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II (i317)
Used on the Straight Talk Network
Running the latest Unofficial CM12, Lollipop 5.01 for the last week and loved every bit of it. No problems.
I cracked my screen in July and never got it fixed. The cracks spread and I was planning on getting it fixed, but haven't yet. I dropped it two days ago and then the screen wouldn't come back on. The buttons lit up and it would even ring when called. So I thought my screen was finally gone and started looking for a replacement. I took the battery out because I didn't want it ringing without the ability to answer it. Yesterday I put the fully charged battery in and attempted to turn the phone back on. It will not come back on and I think it's more than just the screen now.
Red LED blinks. Half of the screen seems like it is turning on, but then it all goes dark again. Will not enter Download or Recovery. I've been reading and thinking this is more of a hardware issue than software. I've flashed dozens of Roms with only minor issues here and there. I haven't had any issue with Lollipop and can't see it being related, although I could really be wrong.
My question is, is my phone dead? Do I need a new motherboard, along with the screen I was already gonna replace? If that's the case, I will just replace the phone and start over, unless anyone has free parts they want to donate, LOL! Seriously, just looking for input and suggestions.
Thanks

There's pretty much nothing to say, but I guess I will.
You can't get to download mode, can't get to recovery mode, you can't see the screen......
If you're looking for a second opinion to say you're f*cked, then consider this it.
If you could get to download mode or recovery mode, it has a chance. But you still have hardware issues like the screen to replace. Which is not fun.
Possible yes. But unless you really know what you're doing and careful as hell, you take the chance of hosing something else up. Like ripping a ribbon cable or yanking a soldered wire out....
I tried replacing a Motorola Atrix screen. The result of that was me buying an Atrix 2.
Unless you are emotionally attached to this phone, bury it.

I did some quick searches and doesn't appear to be any kind souls out there with spare parts. You may want to try CraigList or something like that.
Good luck to you

Hey, Thanks man! That's what I needed to hear. I have been flashing Roms since I had a Sprint PPC 6700 and I have enough experience to now I was f#@$ed, but I really needed to hear it from someone else. Someone with developer experience. A screen assembly and motherboard cost more than another phone on ebay or Swappa. Welp, back to the drawing board. Anyone got a note 2 they wanna sell cheap?

No worries.
Feb 3 I'll be on 2 years with my Note 2. Longest I've kept one. Only have one smallish crack on the lower left corner.
With everything I've done to it I'm amazed it's still working.
