I recently upgraded from an HTC Magic to an HTC Desire HD.
I noticed that the overall sound quality on the DHD is very poor.
I first noticed it when making a call, and the sound was very tinny. It sounded like the treble was turned way up, perhaps in an effort to increase clarity, which resulted in distortion and clipping. I suppose you could also describe it as a high pitched "buzz". I thought it might be the speaker, but ruled that out when I found the same result when using headphones or plugged into an external sound system.
The problem is noticeable in any situation:
a) The earpiece, when making calls
b) The loud speaker, when on speaker-phone or playing music
c) Line-out (headphones, speaker, sound systems, etc) for calls and music
d) Even just the "beep" the phone makes when you turn up the volume, or any other system sounds (high pitched ones obviously make the buzz more prevalent)
I did some searching online and found a few forum threads, and some people agree that it's not very good while others say it is fantastic.
The review on GSM Arena seems to agree that the SQ is lacking, but that seems to contradict what I've heard a lot of people on the forums say.
The main problem is that people have different opinions of what is acceptable, what is good, and what is not.
So, I created a video in attempt to demonstrate what I'm talking about.
I ask that you please watch it, and tell me if it sounds similar to your Desire HD, or if there is something wrong with mine. When comparing your phones to other makes or models, does yours sound a lot more trebley and tinny?
The first part of the video is a speakerphone comparison with a Samsung Galaxy S and my DHD. It's kind of hard to tell in the video, but it's clearly evident in person. I also included a line-out recording with the DHD and an HTC Magic, which I think illustrates the issue a bit better. The last part of the video is comparing audio, from a computer, an SGS, and the DHD. The volume from the SGS and the DHD were pretty low, so I had to boost them a bit in post-processing which does make the "tinny" clipped treble sound very apparent, albeit a little exaggerated.
This issue is less prevelent in some styles of music, so I will also include a link to the exact song used in my tests in case anyone would be so kind as to try playing it back on their device and see if they get the same result.

I should also mention that SRS and Dolby and all that jazz don't make a difference -- while they do make some songs sound better, the high pitched "buzz" distortion is still present -- and since it's there with plain old system sounds, ringtones, calls, etc., I think it is fair to assume that the music EQ and effects don't really have anything to do with the issue.

its a .zip
simple to install, just put it on the ROOT of your sdcard
then boot into recovery
i assume you know what recovery is because you have modded the phone
and apply update from zip
pick the telus.audio.fix.zip
give it 10-30 seconds
and boom fixed

The Telus audio fix is meant for the Telus DHD and shiftis didn't mention he has one.

While I am on the Rogers network, my DHD did originally come from Telus... Would that fix still apply to me?

I am running the most recent Revolution HD ROM (3.2), which is running 2.2.1
Furthermore, I just heard from the creator of the Revolution HD mod, who says that the "TurboniumX audio fix is included in the ROM".
I'm stumped.
i mean the official 2.2.1 update by htc
it adds makes it easier to text, fixs the lag on dhd, improve on camera, fixes major bugs and improves the audio by alot but i think u need to unroot to update

I'll leave that as a last resort, but if possible I'd like to find a solution that doesn't involve unrooting.

And getting back to the topic, what have you done so far? Did you find any solution? If not you could try reflashing the turboniumx audio fix even though it is included in the rom.

Apparently it's released in some other countries in asia too

I haven't had a chance to try anything yet -- I am going to try re-flashing TurboniumX when I get home from work, and I'll report back.

This thread discusses a wider problem than you have, but one of the times the overheating occurs is when using navigation... Do you also get reboots when playing games, watching youtube videos?

maybe everyone has a little issues here or there,but in general,the other ones feel:it's very good, maybe even for daily use,(read in the forum) ,not every one face the problem(can't find songs &pics),but how does the problem happen ? how to solve it ?
this problem also exists with cm10 for the ville,.. did you hear from any devices not coming from htc with this problem?
You might consider Meridian, my media player of choice for the Android platform. It is very intuitive, excellent features, such as a native digital EQ, etc. You can specify several media locations to search for music, video, etc. It just received an update over the weekend, which helped aestheticly, and the developer is constantly enhancing the app. I'm using it in the gym right now, on the StairMaster. Coupled with Beats Audio, it is unbeatable. Have fun!

nexus s &galaxy nexus had that problem，cause devices which can update or flash rom to 4.1 are not so many, it's a issue caused by the system-jb,i think~ follow the update of cm10 by tbalden, and still no solution~ also little feedbacks about this issue in the one x forum

It stops working the moment you turn the screen off. Immediately starts working again if you turn it back on.

call microphone and speaker problem
have an issue with my m8 .. cyanogenmod 11 everytime i call ,, the the speaker and the volume is maxed but i cant hear ,, the person that im talking .. my question is ? is this already fixed ?? and am i the only one experiencing this .
Is anyone else on Verizon having huge issues with MMS on the latest M build? They get stuck on "sending" for quite a while until I reboot and just destroy my battery.

Quick question about this ROM, has nothing to do with the conversation over.
But the camera app on CM, is that the standard cm camera app, or is it the same as stock HTC? If not, is there a way to install the HTC camera app? Love CM, but also the HTC camera and gallery/edit functions

Can't have the best of both worlds unfortyunitely...
Really loving this rom but my only gripe is that the camera is sooooooo bad on this rom. It always looks blurry. Is this a common problem?

I searched the CM11 thread and it appears that there is for case support in CM11. I just can't seen to find the option. I saw that it is in the ROM somewhere but I can't find an application or a setting. I am on the latest Nightly. Anyone know where it is? Thanks!

Hello all,
I'm currently on CM M11 and I'm having trouble with the double tap to wake feature. I was on nightlies a few days ago and also had the problem. Does this problem exist on M10 or on some old nightlies? Just wondering if I can find a CM build that doesn't have that problem.

Reboot and it will fix. It's a pain but that's what I do

Google search the oneplusone cyanogen camera apk. That one works great. I'll see if I can find link.

APN issues
I'm still having the "No APN specified" problem on my Verizon HTC One M8. Happens on stock messenger, happens with Hangouts. When I look at my APN settings under Hangouts, I have settings for Metro PCS and Sprint. None for Verizon.
For what it's worth (probably nothing), I am using the latest TWRP recovery, ART, and the Good Stock GAPPS package from the Paranoid Android guys. I usually do a full wipe when moving from stock to CM, though just doing a factory reset didn't help last time.
Does the unified build check your CID when it installs? I was SuperCID for a while, and thought that maybe the wrong APNs were being selected because my device was misdetected as a development build.
Sorry if this is all off-base.
Boot Loop
I seem to be stuck in a boot loop. I'm using an HTC One M8, coming from ViperROM.
What I did:
1) Using TWRP, wiped data, cache, dalvik
2) Flashed CM 11 11/11/2014 nightly
3) Flashed gapps 4.4.4
Now when I boot, the phone gets stuck in the CM boot animation. I'm able to successfully restart back into recovery.

Hi everybody, I'm certain new to the Xda forum and I wanna start with a big thanks for the effort of developers of this ROM.
First of all it's been awhile since i frequently read this forum I wont detail since which roms I've tried , of course must be some 2 years ago L
I've tested cyanideL lately but I came back to TB , seems for me much more well quality well finished code!
Nothing major noticed except I struggle to find a fix for netflix. I was really searching and I found this post

which really "bingo" in my device. For those who may try just to let them know netflix works very well in my device with the latest Team UB Cm12-261220014.
The only problem that it really bother me now is the "unfortunately, gallery has stoped" Camera seems to work very well. I ve tried clear, cash the app, I've moved all my DCIM picture on a ext card(pc), I even really clean reflesh the ROM. For first part it worked but then after i installed some other apps form titanium backup....I had the same problem. I really assume now that there is one app that my conflict gallery code....but to be honest i had so many to restore it's an enigma to guess which would be !
If someone would had a clue or encountered the same issue would guide me please!

Chromcast doesn't connect
I just noticed another issue - i couldn't connect my device with chromecast, it looks not supported yet on this cm12 ver yet....lollipop 5.0.2 yet in development..looots of work....
Hello all, I am new at testing Customized ROMS and let me say that this is a great ROM, When the phone had Omni ROM installed began with this issue, when I am charging my phone while it is off, the battery icon animation gets stuck and I cannot turn my phone on, the phone does charge, I did not have this issue on Kit Kat stock for I317, Can somebody help me? Also, is there any way to make proximity sensor to work while making calls? also, is there any way to disable vibration while pressing capacitive buttons?

I just flashed this UB ROM and had the sensor issue. Flashed the above t0lte_sensor_fix.zip and my sensors now work perfectly.
By the way, this ROM is by far THE best t0lte lollipop ROM I've flashed yet.
Great job to the developer.
So far so good 5 hours on and all set up. Switched from W03 Slimkat. Had one force close after the first flash while phone was resting. "...Email" but noticed nothing nor any issues with my Gmail. Thanks

UB-ROM for TOLTE sound issues
Overall very happy with the UB ROM 20150106, however the sound issue, specifically the one relating to bluetooth streaming has gotten worse.
The typical behaviour now is that when phone syncs with the car and music starts, audio fx and google music crashes.

I had this issue and flashed the shift kernel. However after a while, charging did not play nice with it. I am now using the kernel from DU lollipop ROM. It is very fast and has no issues with charging or bluetooth. Just use 7zip to copy the boot.img from the DU zip to the UB zip and flash as normal. You will get a warning asking you if you want to copy and overwrite, just click yes or OK.. This is a fantastic ROM

hello guys, just flashed this sweet lollipop rom, but i noticed that it has no support for s pen. Any recommendations on what app to use or mod? also, i couldn't get the music to stop being soo choppy over bluetooth while screen was off. any help is appreciated, and thanks DEVS for such great work!!!
That's strange, s pen is working on mine. No customizations or 3rd party apps either. Just stock ROM. As for Bluetooth did you try overstuffedcows suggestion of the DU lollipop kernal?
No music output if screen locked?
There is no music output if screen is locked, when a headphone without a microphone is plugged in. I can't hear the music when screen is locked (although music app is still playing the music silently (muted), but when I turn the screen on, the music plays. It seems like the music itself has been playing in the background, because sound is the thing that's muted not the app itself.
Strangely, music plays well when screen is locked when a headphone with a microphone is plugged in.
Is it sort of a bug? I think many will have this kind of problem..

Since update 1/19/15, the proximity sensor does not work
Since update 1/19/15, the proximity sensor does not work. Screen does not turn off during call, and I downloaded some apps to test the sensor and it seems that the sensor does not work at all..
My sensors are still working with 1/19. Try flashing the sensor fix I posted up above??
