Hi,
I've only had Nexus phones and tablets before and have never had external SD card support. I'm on the stock LG G Pad right now (i.e. not the GPE). I tried to move folders to the external SD card using ASTRO, thinking that this would move my synced rdio and google magazine files to the external SD, but the apps don't seem to read the files anymore.
Is there a guide on how to get files to recognize that there's an SD card and an external SD card? Is my best bet to root and use TiBu?
THANKS!

There's an app called folder mount which will move folders to the external SD card and link them such that the app will think the folder is in the same location and still work just fine. I've used it on my galaxy s4 without problems, however you do need to be rooted to use it. My problem is I'm on a rooted g pad and can't seem to get it to work. If you do root and it works, please report back, I'm not sure if I have a defective device.

Thanks a ton. I'll probably root after the holidays, since I am scrambling to get things done before then and I want to make sure that I have Google Movies access on my vacation! I'll let you know there when I do it.

I've installed both and I'm rooted now but still can't move or install anything to sd
I had the same problem; couldn't write, etc although from a PC or installing the same SDCARD in another device worked fine.... called Google Support; no help by the way and after searching/reading for a while determined the problem.
This link explains how to fix... basically Android is not accessing the proper "name" of the external card and you just need to add one line to fix permissions.

Hello to all
sorry for my english (by Google Translate)
With Google KitKat has favored the use of internal memory and has imposed on the sd card read-only mode.
I've done several tests and I could see that LG has allowed the writing from the File Manger, USB and the camera (what I've tried so far).
The connection "Archiving Wireless" allows read-only memory microSD.
I wanted to know if there is a way to write anchge.
thanks
First u need to Root (ioroot25) and then check this thread out -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277&nocache=1
thanks,
I also saw this app "SDFix: Writable MicroSD KitKat". Could it work?
A solution without root, is this possible?

Hi actually that previous advise didnt work for me. So i googled more, and find this, go google market and search NextApp SDFix. This will work, but it will need root also. I dont think u can do this with out root.
Why could LG not have implemented this fix before making the update available?? The SD card slot is now useless to me.
HI guys.
I just created two users on my tab.: the owner, and another user. On the owner account i can see my sd card in file manager, but when i log on as the other user i can only see internal storage. Do i have to tic some little box so we all see the sd card or what...cos i cant find it.
Im trying to find the same problem here but you guys usually have problems with sd not mounting...
Im on lollipop - not rooted, stock rom.
Thanks

Yes, and i am rooted but only the principal user can acces to sd (
Ever since i went from a 4.3 rom to a 5.1 rom I can not write to my external sd card. I have tried going back to 4.3, other cards, changing permissions to no avail.
does anyone have a solution on how to fix this. I have tried asking in the forum thread for my Rom but got no answer at all and I have searched but none of the threads that show have any definite solutions.

Do you have root explorer. Is the rom rooted? Have you tested your sd card in other devices etc? Need way more info

I am rooted and running a custom rom at the moment. I have tried the card in other devices and my computer and get the same error which leads me to believe its the card. The weird thing is it will read files from it fine no problem but I cant delete or add files even if i change the write permissions.
If by explorer you mean something like ES file explorer I have tried various ones as well as the supposed external sd card fix apps.
Re: SD Card Into Internal Memory
Hi guys
Can you let me know how to make the SD card part of the internal memory. The A5 2017 is a good phone but the problem is the limitation in the internal memory and seriously i'm not willing to change the phone just because it lacks space. So, if someone knows how to make the SD card part of the internal memory, please do share. Since I'm quite new, if there's a need to root the phone or whatever, please send the instructions also. Much appreciated.

As I know, on stock you can't do this, but on android8.1 unofficial ROMs yiu can do that.
if you want to use more app in your phone, can use "link2sd" app. it links app 2 sd
else you can use custom rom to combine sd memory and phone but in this case you cant use sd card out of your phone because other devices cant detect that.

I used app2sd on a different phone and you could even link system apps.

it's saying link2sd could not obtain root access.
if you have root access make sure you respond "allow" or grant to the superuser request.
how to sort that out?
