Hello to all
sorry for my english (by Google Translate)
With Google KitKat has favored the use of internal memory and has imposed on the sd card read-only mode.
I've done several tests and I could see that LG has allowed the writing from the File Manger, USB and the camera (what I've tried so far).
The connection "Archiving Wireless" allows read-only memory microSD.
I wanted to know if there is a way to write anchge.
thanks
First u need to Root (ioroot25) and then check this thread out -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277&nocache=1
thanks,
I also saw this app "SDFix: Writable MicroSD KitKat". Could it work?
A solution without root, is this possible?

Hi actually that previous advise didnt work for me. So i googled more, and find this, go google market and search NextApp SDFix. This will work, but it will need root also. I dont think u can do this with out root.
Why could LG not have implemented this fix before making the update available?? The SD card slot is now useless to me.

Sorry for my English.
Is there any solution to install apps on the external SD card, not move, but install everything to the external SD card.
As in this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/mod-extsd2internalsd-v8increase-data-t1772234
Thank you all, I will use the translator, do not worry if they respond in English.
That seems to be for the international version of the galaxy s3 only. I've only read through the first few pages but he OP seems to be willing to help with other devices if you test for him. Post over there and see what he has to say. This has been an issue for a very long time and has been made even worse with the new restrictions permitting only gapps and some manufacturer apps write access to the sd cards that we purchased. At least there's a fairly easy way around the write problem, but installing to external sd is another matter altogether.
Might want to take a look at Xposed Framework. I think I saw a module in there to accomplish this. Root required.

That module would be for it? You know it?

I've looked for a solution to this question since I got the 8.4 a few weeks ago. To my knowledge nothing is available. With my Note 2 I used to use an app (root required) called GL to SD. It's still on the Play store, but it's just too inconsistent to rely upon. When it works, it's a great app but it just doesn't do so consistently.

Seems same problem as s duos! I wouldn't try this if I were you! I hate Samsung sometimes due to this reason... Try recovery script method... But this slows down your device.....
You can use an App like Foldermount (root) to trick folders location.
So your OBB or Android data directories can be mounted to the ext SD card.
From then, anything installed will be on the SDcard.

Another option might be to swap the internal and external sd cards. There are several links if you google it. Some work and some don't, so be careful. There is also this app in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.codlab.int2ext

What I hate is that these settings have to be done everytime your phone is restarted! I really hate this...
Guys what about an app that is installed on the device memory but trying to download a zip file to external sd? I am using gmt subtitles app... any way around this or do I need to gain the root access... and install the sd fix from play store? Cheers

What do you mean, trouble reading or writing to the sdcard? Try formatting the card on the phone itself, that usualy works.
What are you trying to do with the card? it might be that you just are not aware with how Android Kitkat treats the sd card slot?

Probably......only File Manager can write or delete files on my sd card, Xplore or a different Manager can't, is it normal in KitKat?

Apps can only write and edit files that they themselves created on the SD card which is why third party apps are not working. It is to stop rouge apps deleting / creating / modifying files that they shouldn't be.

With files you mean system files or files created by you? You should be able to delete or move files with an alternative file explorer or you might try gaining root (towel root is easiest) to gain admin rights.
If you root your phone, you can remove the limitations that were added in KitKat.
Many 'newbie experts' who say that an 8 or 16GB phone is fine as you can move apps etc. to an SD card are finding out the hard way that KitKat restrictions prevent using the card the same way as it used to be in older Android versions unless the device is rooted.

Someone else had the same problem and they did an equipment swap and the new G3 didn't have the problem.
So it might be the SD card slot itself or its interface and a exchange might be neccessary.
I wonder if any of you guys had a similar problem.
If I try to download a file, like a torrent or a subtitle directly to my external SD card, I receive a message of "can't create file".... Like if I had not the permissions to do so. But If download it to my internal SD and then copy it to my external no problem at all.
I checked the permissions and it is rw. You may say... Dude... It's you SD that's damaged.... I tried two different sds and it happens all the same. So it's my phone..... But this also happen with my gs4... So it's not the phone...
Anyone with a similar situation??

Are you familiar with:
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-bypass-Android-44-KitKat-external-SD-write-/
You might need the Kit Kat SD card fix, but you will need root access. Kit Kat doesn't allow apps to write to the SD card and you need a work around to get it to work. You can do it via code, but I can't remember what file, code lines and permissions needed for that, perhaps someone else might chime in with that.

Editing the permissions-file requires root, too!

I'm rooted guys. I had my suspicious that this would be an os related problem. Thanks for the confirmation. So this app fix the problem huh? I'll give it a try. Thanks a lot
It worked beautifully! Thanks guys. Now I need to find out why it keeps forgetting the default apps to open stuff. The same thing happened to my gs4. Probably something to do with the kit Kate too.

Thank you hop that will be a fix that works without root..
Hi everybody!
Is there any possibility to write external sd card with out root.? I searched forum for this but could not find any solution with out root.
nope. the app developer need to add that permission in their apps. since samsung wont fix those.
I have read many pages of info on the restricted access to ext SD cards in Kitkat, and many promises that in Lollipop access could be granted by the user for all third party apps to write to any sd card file / tree.
But none of these articles have actually explained (in understandable terms) how to do this.
Can anyone tell me how we are supposed to grant access to external sd card by third party apps?
I would love to know as well. I'm debating between ordering the 32GB version from gearbest.com, versus waiting for the 64GB version. I would buy the 32GB version if I knew I could install apps to the external SD card. Maybe this is only possible with root and specialized ROM/kernel. Either way, it'd be nice if someone could shed some light on it.

Just to be clear, I can move "moveable apps" to the Sd card without any problem, obviously this is a restricted list withing the non-rooted version, but that is not my problem. Similarly, all the preinstalled apps like camera, google play music can successfully write to the Sd card with no additional access required.
My problem is that downloaded apps which should have the authority to modify/write files to the SD card such as MP3 tag editors, are not able to do so.
According to Poweramp, their app can gain permission to do this, but when I get the prompt to "grant access", my Sd card doesn't appear in the list of memories to which I can grant the access requested.
The purpose of my post was to see if (as suggested by some reports on Android 5.x) we can grant access to write/edit files on the Sd card at a generic level instead of doing it in each app, given that the developers of apps at the moment seem to be struggling with this.
I got my Zenfone 2 in the mail today from Amazon US. I'm not able to authorize any 3rd party apps to write to my external SD. ES File Explorer and Quickpic both send me to Android's baked in file manager to grant access to external SD card, but it doesn't show up for me to select. May as well still be on Kitkat. Very disappointing.
root needed : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix&hl=fr
This is the same old kitkat bug so this fix work also on LP 5.0 (i'm using it) and should be solved on 5.1..
