Downgrade your stock kernel to a version earlier than about June, which is (was) still vulnerable to the root exploit (security hole) that towelroot is using. There is a thread here (something about knox 0x0 in the title IIRC), where somebody described how to extract/isolate the kernel from a ROM. Flash that old Kernel via Odin and then run towelroot. After that you extract the original kernel from the stock ROM package you are currently using and flash it again. Not that easy, but it works and you'll learn a lot. Be sure that you understand what you are doing. Read some threads here..

I know, I know... search but Upndwn4par doesn't have the stock 4.1.1 thread open anymore and I seemed to have deleted any copies I had. Does anyone happen to have it ? I am wanting to unlock this to sell it but I can't find a 4.1.1 anywhere.
On a side note, since I've never unlocked a phone before, does it have to be unrooted to put in an unlock code from lets say AT&T if they gave it to me ?
You can get all stock firmwares on sammobile and there is instructions in this forum to unlock using your keypad

I'm in the same situation but for rogers. This is the the only one I can find but download speeds are slow, and when i reach 543mb it suddenly stops downloading. I'm now trying to download the file using a download manager.
Link (full stock 4.1.1): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I'll try the unlock method posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48131705#post48131705
It worked on my skyrocket rogers i727r. The 4.1.1 firmware I flashed was rooted, so i think there's no problem if it's rooted as long as it's stock.

I've got the instructions but I really don't want to have to use odin if I don't have to but I could just use the prerooted .tar and just try it with that.
I'm on 4.4 right now and it only works if you are on 4.1.1 stock and I'd rather not have to lie to the carrier as to why I need to unlock

Hello guys, I was wondering if you could help me out. Which bootloader version is newer for the N7100... The MK2 or the MJ5? Also, isn't there like a website or thread with the bootloader version history to simply check for this? Thank you very much.

no need unless you face problems
after odin flash it takes you to recovery- from there you can reboot system
Sorry to ask, but I cant seem to search for the right answer.
I'm planning to install Android Revo HD on my N7100 (stock rom) details are:
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2437454
Build date: Wed, 15 Jan 2014 09:56:22 +0000

My question is, I've been seeing a lot of things about MJ5 bootloader, if I update my current bootloader to MJ5, will my phone still work? I cant also seem to find a way to backup my current bootloader.
pteedo you
i had same doubts but i followed all instructions on revo hd page, i flashed bootloader fix i found from there, and everything is fine, mj5 bootloader is totally ok, i have no wish to go back to 4.1.2
Hi, as the title said, my question is what is the latest firmware on the Note currently if I purchased now. Is it 4.3 with locked bootloader like the Galaxy s3 with Knox? If it's, is it possible to flash custom firmware? Thanks.
Yes it has 4.3. It has Knox bootloader as well if that matters. There is TWRP recovery, custom kernel by Bid Droid, custom ROM by Scotts ROM called Clean ROM V2 R2.

It and the older note 10.1 2012 version are both on list to get kitkat 4.4.2. ..no clue when it would drop but I'm sure Clean ROM will have it before it's out for mainstream. It's on ML1 currently

Thanks for quick reply, I thought that if it came with locked bootloader then how can we unlock? like the S3, we unable to unlock we need to use safestrap to install custom rom, is it the same case as the Note? sounds like it's not.

It's still not clear, I thought MK1 (4.3) has a locked bootloader, and no one could unlock the bootloader yet, so how can we able to flash custom rom??
I shall do my best to clarify of what I know. I have the note 10.1 2014 sm-p600, wifi only. I'm located in the US. I had android 4.3 on it. I had used Kies to update to MK1 since I had already tripped Knox and don't care. Even prior to MK1, I used Odin'd Cf - auto root, and Odin'd TWRP custom Recovery. For a long time there were nobody developing anything for the tablet. SCOTTS clean ROM undertook the task and made a custom ROM with stock kernel. Then as time progressed Bid Droid entered with a custom kernel. He also made his own rom, but I'm not sure if that is for P601 or p605 models. I refer you to the note 10.1 2014 android development thread for more detailed info. Scott was able to incorporate ML1 firmware into his ROM. Yes ML1, think it was Taiwan, wasn't released in the US but I see no problems as far as country specific or anything on a wifi only tablet. He knows what he is doing as a proven developer. If none of what I am saying makes any sense, I would advise you to look deeper in Note 10.1 2014 android develop thread. I hope this may have helped clarify. I tried to anyways.

Hi, I have a 4.2.2 Rooted Stock Rom running on my T-Mobile S4 at the moment (been rooted since June and never upgraded to any ROMS since root was still fairly new to the phone back then), and I was looking at all these ROMS and I want to upgrade to Wicked, Avatar, or XTREMEPERIA S4 ROM...BUT I'm pretty sure I need to do something before I do that. I already have ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.2 installed, and I read in one of the ROM threads that I need to install a MK2 modem or something? I'm lost and I don't want to ruin my phone :/ I already backed everything up using MyBackup Pro, and using ClockworkMod.
Here's some information about my phone that will hopefully be helpful:
Baseband version: M919UVUAMDL
Kernel version: 3.4.0-440244
Build number: JDQ39.M919UVUAMDL
Please help, I really want to use the awesome ROMS I listed above.
Thanks in advance.
If you follow these instructions:

your modem would be upgraded to mk2 which works well with 4.3 roms like Wicked v10.

Consider me a complete noob on this matter.
Now I'm trying to get lte on my m919v and I've been ready that flashing the modem to the m919 (t-mobile) would be enough to solve my problem. But I have a couple où questions I can't find the answers to
1- do i need to be rooted to flash a modem
2-will I get a Knox message if I do
3-If it's only a simple modem problem, where can I find the m919 modem

1. Yes, you must be rooted.
2. If your device has Knox bootloader, yes it will trip the counter.
3. Still going to root?

Well i've tryed to find more info on the subject and nothing seems to be informative on this subject.
Guess us canadians don't buy enought galaxies everyone is and is sold to iphone they think jailbreaking is bad so imagine having to root a phone and play with this you're not suppose to touch because the little book that came with it said so
