Buying new Note 10.1 p600 (wifi) 2014 edition - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi, as the title said, my question is what is the latest firmware on the Note currently if I purchased now. Is it 4.3 with locked bootloader like the Galaxy s3 with Knox? If it's, is it possible to flash custom firmware? Thanks.

Yes it has 4.3. It has Knox bootloader as well if that matters. There is TWRP recovery, custom kernel by Bid Droid, custom ROM by Scotts ROM called Clean ROM V2 R2.

It and the older note 10.1 2012 version are both on list to get kitkat 4.4.2. ..no clue when it would drop but I'm sure Clean ROM will have it before it's out for mainstream. It's on ML1 currently

Thanks for quick reply, I thought that if it came with locked bootloader then how can we unlock? like the S3, we unable to unlock we need to use safestrap to install custom rom, is it the same case as the Note? sounds like it's not.

It's still not clear, I thought MK1 (4.3) has a locked bootloader, and no one could unlock the bootloader yet, so how can we able to flash custom rom??

I shall do my best to clarify of what I know. I have the note 10.1 2014 sm-p600, wifi only. I'm located in the US. I had android 4.3 on it. I had used Kies to update to MK1 since I had already tripped Knox and don't care. Even prior to MK1, I used Odin'd Cf - auto root, and Odin'd TWRP custom Recovery. For a long time there were nobody developing anything for the tablet. SCOTTS clean ROM undertook the task and made a custom ROM with stock kernel. Then as time progressed Bid Droid entered with a custom kernel. He also made his own rom, but I'm not sure if that is for P601 or p605 models. I refer you to the note 10.1 2014 android development thread for more detailed info. Scott was able to incorporate ML1 firmware into his ROM. Yes ML1, think it was Taiwan, wasn't released in the US but I see no problems as far as country specific or anything on a wifi only tablet. He knows what he is doing as a proven developer. If none of what I am saying makes any sense, I would advise you to look deeper in Note 10.1 2014 android develop thread. I hope this may have helped clarify. I tried to anyways.

So I flashed the file posted and I made my phone boot loop at the Samsung logo for 8 hours now, Any ideas?
I did have the "4.1.2" OTA Update installed before and I did have it rooted and Followed a unroot Procedure on XDA. I was trying to get ahold of the OTA Odin file so that I could return because I think When I used that odin file posted, It flashed a lower version radio then I had Previously and Coming from HTC I know That it would brick the device....

The Galaxy S4 i9505 roms do not need or require porting, they will work with the Tmobile M919 S4 locked or unlocked phones
by simply flashing any i9505 rom using the cwm/twrp well established flashing methods like any other cwm/twrp flashable rom..
(please note: if you do flash any i9505 rom you will no longer have the benefit of wifi calling)
Do we than have to flash the kernel afterwards?

Flashing a different kernel is optional, the i9505 cwm/twrp flashable roms
will work with the M919 phones with the existing kernel they come with.
Wow! Thank you so much guys. I just saw your posts after i used a port guide and did 30 min of stuff lol. At least i learned something
Also, just flashed Omega i9505 V5. Wifi doesn't work ! Edit: You have to install a M919 kernel for it to work. Great! Best rom i've ever used now!

[Q] Downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.1?

Hello!
I was wondering if its possible to downgrade back to 4.2.1 from 4.3. In download mode, I see that they have added Knox to the bootloader. Every time I try to flash the 4.2.1 .md5.tar file via Odin. Its says: Unsupported Version.
Any insight would be appreciated!

as far i can see, and you witnesed first hand, the knox stuff remains logged there and you cat do anything about it....i suggest stop trying to downgrade before smth bad happens (knock on wood).....and just wait for a 4.3 custom rom, that comes with its own files to download and flash
I have a similar question that probably no one asked before, as I couldn't find any similar thread.
I have a back up rom of rooted 4.1.2 stock rom, which back up by Philz Touch.
Once I flashed 4.3 custom rom, is it safe to restore my 4.1.2 rooted stock rom backup from the 4.3 custom rom? Another question is, once I flashed any 4.3 custom rom, can I flash 4.1.2 custom roms from after that without any problem?
To make things clear, I will never go back original, unrooted 4.1.2 stock rom or try to flash a original unrooted 4.3 stock rom.
I sincerely hope someone can explain to me, because I dare not to try to flash any 4.3 custom rom until now.
Thank you very much!

[Q] AT&T T217A rom

Folks i have a ATT samsung tab3 7inch the model number is T217a (GSM version) and is updated OTA 4.4.2...
i am looking to upgrade to a non-bloated ROM with ROOT but after looking around haven't found something for this device specifically.. i have see a bunch of Rom's for the 217S and 217R and wasn't sure if those will work. so before i try something stupid wanted to ask around what are my choices.
Any help would be arrpreciated
Sorry, the t217a is a locked device, and beyond root for 4.2.2 and a few performance tweaks available because of that root, there is nothing for the t217a. 4.4.2 has not been rooted yet to my knowledge.
..and flashing back to 4.2.2 is not possible either, it will lead to a brick.

It's a shame really. It's a nice tab with a 1.7 dual core and a decent gpu. On 4.2.2 rooted with a few tweaks it is really speedy and the gps works well too. I bricked 1 out of my 2 by upgrading ota to 4.4.2, then after hating it I flashed back to 4.2.2. That was the end of that one. My 2nd is running great still tweaked n rooted on 4.2.2.
