I can't seem to boot into recovery, only from the QUICKBOOT app from the play store.
Holding down VOL- and Power then cycling power when the LG logo appears does not work for me.
The phone was bricked at one point with a flash from another phone by mistake. I uploaded boot.img, aboot.img, recovery.img from the ZVE software version into the phone through fastboot; and got my phone booting up again. Once I did that I used the LG Flashtool and the ZVE TOT file to re-image the phone.
I've STUMPED rooted, and CARRIER UNLOCKED the phone, AUTORECed, and DORIMANXed the kernel.
Did I miss uploading a critical file through fastboot that activates the recovery? or should the TOT file have overwritten everything I did through fastboot?

When trying to go from d3rp ZVC to UltraPop ZVG, I flashed a "Boot fix" zip by Agimax that flashed a new aboot, boot, laf, modem, and recovery image to be able to flash a ZVG rom without tot back to stock. Then I flashed the ZVG radio, then the ROM. Ended up with LG logo boot loop. It won't boot past that. So, I rebooted to recovery. Recovery works, and I can use adb. I can't flash anything but the ZVG rom, unfortunately. Any other rom I try to flash gives an assert failed error about loki.sh.
Since I have access to adb shell, and can copy files over to the internal storage by way of mtp or adb push.. Would I be able to fix this by copying over the ZVC aboot, boot, laf, modem and recovery (or maybe omit the recovery so I can still get back to TWRP )? Or would this cause and unrecoverable brick?
Also, Download mode isn't an option. No matter what I do, the phone will not enter download mode to tot back to stock.
Basically, looking at this thread for unbricking a real hard-bricked G2, all I really need to do is flash aboot, boot and laf for stock then I should have download mode back, right? I need to know for sure before I end up putting it in a state where a motherboard replacement is the only option.

Since you have adb, push the partitions from the KitKat auto-rec apk for the device you have. What really breaks it is the firmware. And any other ROM you have the wrong partitions loaded to work.

I just grabbed aboot, boot, and laf and copied them and used dd to flash in adb shell (dd if=aboot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot repeated for each img, changine aboot to boot in the img and /dev path.)
After that i was able to boot into download mode and flash tot back to stock. Unfortunately, something went wrong and i lost my esn, msid, meid dec,etc and my msl is now 000000. No efs backup (thought i backed it up to my pc, but i backed up EVERYTHING else.) So i'm heading to sprint today to see if they can fix it, or if I'll need to play ignorant and use my repair plan for a new one.
Thanks though!
Hi guys, earlier today my phone just decided to randomly reboot itself. Since then it was stuck in a boot loop. I couldn't get into recovery mode at all. So instead, I got into the firmware update mode, and flashed a Marshmallow KDZ using LGUP. First I did and update, but that didn't work. Then tried refurbish, and that failed too. It just doesn't want to reboot. Any ideas?
Any way to install TWRP from the firmware update (download mode) screen?
Does fastboot command work? If it does simply run fastboot boot yourtwrpimagename
Hi everyone. So i have an lg g3 d850 version, I had rooted it installed cyanogenmod 12 and twrp recovery, everything was fine. Problem came up when i tried to upgrade twrp recovery to v3.0.0.0 (latest version). I downloaded the twrp.img into my sd card, I used Flashify and erroneously chose FLASH BOOT IMAGE instead of RECOVERY IMAGE. Since they are both .img files flashify flashed it. I tried to reboot my phone it would not boot, just kept displaying on and off the lg logo, i guess it couldn't find the correct boot image. I thing flashify flashed a recovery .img into the boot partion (what a bummer!). So I tried to restore phone to stock, it booted into download mode (vol up+usb cable), used the lg flash tool and installed the stock .tot file with its dll, went well to completion. Tried to boot again, but it would not boot. I guess the boot partion is still unflashed. Someone please assist me on this problem, is there a way i can get and flash the original boot .img into my LG G3 D850?
Flash Boot from CyanogenMod
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
you can download the CyanogenMod 12 ZIP and extract the boot.img from Cyanogen. Now flash the extracted Boot.img via Fastboot.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
Do you have a step by step guide on how to do that? Remember the tot method completed, so i guess its back to stock.

On computer -> open the rom zip via winrar or any archive utility, find boot.img, copy over to phone (connect while in twrp), tap on IMG in twrp (there are 2 options - zip and img, currently it´s zip mode), then find the boot.img, choose to flash and select "boot" or "kernel" (it asks you if it´s recovery or kernel)
Don´t panic , you have twrp at lease
I don't have twrp
Well doesn't make sense.
-you had older twrp
-you wanted new one
-you flashed it to boot partition?
It means you can't boot Android but you still have twrp
volume down and power, wait for lg logo. Release and hold again..confirm twice

Hi all,
I bought a used LG G3. It's running on KitKat and software version is D85510i. It had stock recovery installed but download mode was missing. Whenever I entered the download mode, it said "fastboot mode started". I can't find the laf.img for D85510i and the ones for 30B/20E/etc don't work (I tried flashing them with fastboot). So I thought of installing custom recovery. I came to know about bump! TWRP. This phone was already rooted with latest su binary installed. I downloaded flashify and flashed bumped twrp after taking backup of stock recovery. But when I rebooted into recovery, it said "fastboot mode started" and somehow, stock recovery.img got deleted. Now my phone just boots into system and recovery/download mode don't work. I even tried flashing bumped twrp with fastboot and adb as well.
1. Can someone explain why twrp isn't booting and help me flash it?
2. Can someone provide me the laf.img for D85510i? I don't wanna download the whole firmware to install just a small laf.img. if someone has the stock D85510i.kdz, can you please extract laf.img from it?
3. Moreover, the housing says D851, while sticker under the battery and in setting, says it's D855. The IMEI on the sticker under battery and the IMEI of the phone also match. So is it possible that the housing is just changed or is there any chance that someone successfully flashed a D855 firmware on D851 and now I'm having issues with recovery and download mode because of that?
Hi,
I've twrp version 3 installed and I've try to update it. I've download latest .img file from twrp official website and flash it via TWRP itself. Than I've just restarted TWRP but the system stucks on LG logo. How can I success to install TWRP again. I don't have anything on the phone so I can remove everything.
Probably you forgot to flash it to recovery partition, default is boot. You can try to go to recovery with the power + vol down buttons, if that wont work go back to stock with kdz or tot.
