Hi all,
Ive recently encountered a strange issue. I can connect my M8 to my Sandisk cruzer 64gb usb drive no problem it instantly is recognised. However after say 15 minutes of having the device connected but not accessing it and screen off, it dissapears. Am i right in thinking that my m8 is going to sleep or hibernating hence this problem and how do i stop it? Any ideas? Thks

Hello all,
Since this morning I have a problem with my DHD. When I turn off the screen, it is supposed to stay of until I turn it on again. Since this morning it starts turning itself on over and over again. Everytime I turn off the screen, it switches on in a few seconds. But once it's on it doesn't go off by itself. So I doubt if it is a problem with the on/off switch. What else could it be?
Edit:
This seems not to happen when the phone is connected with an USB cable. Either on my PC or on the regular power charger.

Have you installed anything new at all. Also have you restarted the phone since it began exhibiting this behaviour. Make sure it's a proper restart aswell by turning off fastboot i settings, it's under power settings I believe.
Thanks for your fast reply.
I have not installed anything new since two days ago. And the problem really started this morning. So I guess it is not caused by a program I installed a couple of days ago.
I have indeed restarted my phone. Also turned it off, toke the battery out and waited a couple of minutes (just to make sure it was really really really turned off) but this did not solve the problem.
The thing I find very weird is that it does not happen when the phone is attached to USB...

Maybe USB debugging, or possibly a short on the mini USB connector. What firmware do you have on the phone?
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
I also think it might have something to do with a short in the micro USB connector. Have cleaned when the phone was of. Seems to have solved the problem, but that's only for the past few minutes...

Darn! The problem still isn't gone. It appears to be less frequent than an hour ago, but the screen still turns on every couple of minutes
This is happening to me as well. The phone screen keeps coming on and then going off after a bit. This and randomly going into car mode and whenever I make or receive calls, the phone speaker is switched on automatically.

Indeed! I just noticed that too. I received a call and my speaker was turned on without me turning it on manual..
Update: my phone stopped switching its screen on automatically, but the problem with the speaker still is not gone.
My DHD has started showing both of these symptoms, ie, switching itself on from standby and the speaker phone being activated on incoming calls .. ever since I upgraded to Android 2.3. I'm not sure if this is something to do with 2.3, the DHD or T-Mobile (my provider) .. or a combination of all 3.
And an app called Car Panel keeps launching ..
Dave
I have this problem, too.
Before the last update of my DHD the backlight turns on in standby for some milliseconds. I saw only a short flash in standby.
After my update to version 2.3 this happens everey 7 minutes.
And the backlight is on for about 10 seconds, then turns off for the next 7 minutes.

DHD light off on
I had the same problem going to settings/dock and turning off auto launch and then power setting turning off fast boot appears to work so far
Hi guys, a few days ago I transferred all my music onto my new One X from my laptop manually, in USB storage mode (can't remember the exact name but it wasn't using HTC Sync) and that was fine, I turned off my laptop and for the next day and a half I had no problems listening to music etc.
I think at some point I connected my phone again, just to charge, and chose the "charge only" setting. Then yesterday I tried to access my music and I got the error message "Your content is unavailable because your phone is being used as USB storage. Disconnect USB to access your content." I went back into "connect to PC" but the default connection was set to "charge only". I cannot access notes, as it tells me "please insert an SD card" and when I try to view my photos I get "SD card unmounted". Obviously there is no SD card/slot so it seems like my phone's internal memory has vanished. I haven't lost any apps, but when I go to Settings -> storage, my total space is 2.11GB with 1.77GB available.
I tried using HTC Sync instead but the program tells me "You have connected a device with no storage card." I don't know what to do!
Please help!
Thank you so much in advance,
Lindsay
Disconnect phone from pc. Set USB connection to charge only before disconnecting. Go to menu storage. Under phone storage see if it is detected. If not reboot your phone.

had this happen a couple of days back. My phone started to lag to the point it was unusable (slower than the G1).
When i went to play a movie or audiobook it said the card wasnt mounted. I ended up factory resetting the machine and after that its been fine (so far).
Like you i could only get the charge only symbol on the phone when connected.
Im pretty sure it was a software bug as a factory reset solved the problem and i didnt lose any data (such as music and movies etc). i had to re download all my apps, i miss titanium back up lol.

Thanks for the replies. I already had my phone set to charge only when I disconnected it, and it is still set to this. I tried rebooting but when I go to storage it still says 2.11GB, and under phone memory - "unavailable".
Yeah I have that too, when I plug in my phone now I don't have the option to use it as a USB storage device, I only have charge only or the 3 ones listed underneath. Is doing a factory reset the only option?
If you hold the power button down for 10 seconds it`s the equivalent of a battery pull.

Hey Guys,
I final got my Mini MicroSD Reader from the Kickstarter Campaign http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andyfei/mini-microsd-reader-for-android-smartphones-and-ta
Problem?
When the device goes to sleep it puts the reader to sleep, but when you wake the device up, the device wont start powering the reader. Has anyone seen an issue like this? My S2 doesnt stop powering the device on sleep (Maybe because it doesnt "deep sleep"
Any Help would be appriciated

If you are using Stickmount, I'm having the same issue with multiple sdcard readers -- both normal and micro. I have not found a solution. It seems to work fine with a USB flash drive. It just seems to blow up on readers for some reason. It has been a real pain in the posterior...
I have come up with a software solution, once its ready ill share it
Ive posted the app
Hello, first of all excuse my english. I just bought 2200mAH Power Bank case for my HTC One X. The charging works fine,i actualy tested it all day and i'm pretty impressed by it,i really like it, but i just noticed that the case has some sort of speaker in the bottom that doesn't seem to work,so i started wondering why. This case charges the phone using 2 pins that HTC One X has on the back that are used for connecting to the dock. The question is why is my HTC doesn't recognize it as a DOC Device?
When i start the charging cicle a message appears in the notification bar : "HTC Sync Manager> If HTC Sync Manager installer doesn;t start automatically, run it from the CD-ROM drive on your computer" and this appears when i connect it to the computer aswell. Could this be the problem?

this is probably because it is dedecting the doc as ur pc(it should come only when you connect to pc) and mostly occurs due to loose connections
Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me with this.
My uncle brought me the HTC One X yesterday and it didn't run at all. So I charged it whole night and it showed glimpses of life this morning. However the screen is black, there are sounds and I see touch buttons flashing. I don't know if there is lock screen at all, and probably USB debugging is not activated. Yet there is no HTC service shops or something like that so I'm on my own. I've looked everywhere and it seems nothing helps.
P.S. there are probably some grammar mistakes but hopefully you can forgive me.
Thanks!
Edit:
When I connect my mobile phone to computer via USB cable and HTC Sync Manager pops out it says that my phone is locked and I need to unlock it.
Remove Sim
If there is a sim inserted in the tray, remove it.
Charge it for about 3 hours, hold down the power button and volume down for about 10-15 seconds.
If you could get into fastboot then its definitely a problem with the OS. (Locked may be).
Im not quite sure of it. But you could try.
