Trading my rooted G3, regular factory reset? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, quick question, I'm trading my rooted G3. I want to do a factory reset from within the phone settings to get rid of all my apps/files etc, this is safe to do while rooted right? Or would I have to follow the long method mentioned here:
http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html
Which requires flashing the phone. I just want to wipe all data from the phone and return it to stock.
Thanks.

A few questions regarding Froyo

Pretty new to Android phones. Just got my evo 4g last week and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I went on vacation this week and I wanted to have the wireless tether working so I used unrevoked3 to root it for the use of the tethering app. Now that I'm back however, I want to do more with the phone.
But now that I'm reading around I'm wondering if I should just yet.... I guess the official froyo update is coming on Tuesday (Aug 3rd) and I would certainly like to use it (or a rooted froyo rom).
My first question is, is it necessary for me to factory reset the phone (since I used unrevoked3) to install the official OTA when it becomes available? My second question would be... should I? I see many custom ROMs for 2.2 already out there... I've been looking at CyanogenMod6 specifically and I'm sure that now that I have more time to find the solutions to the problems I was having with SimpleRoot I could get that installed in no time.
My next question is, should I factory reset the phone before I run SimpleRoot or will it not conflict with what unrevoked3 has already done?
And lastly... if I have to factory reset, what kind of setup is required to get the phone back on the sprint network (if any)? Will I have to redo the initial setup call I made to sprint or will that information still be saved on the phone?
To sum up my questions...
1. If I were to want the official 2.2 Froyo update, would a factory reset be necessary since I rooted the phone with unrevoked3?
2. Should I wait for the official 2.2 update? (I've basically already convinced myself not to wait just by writing this post... I've already got the itch to experiment)
3. Should I factory reset the phone before I attempt to SimpleRoot? (Seeing as how I already used unrevoked3 method)
4. If I do factory reset... what kind of setup is required to get my cell back to its ability to receive calls? (if any)
I would do a reset and use simple root to get fully unlocked. Then flash a rooted Froyo rom like Ava's Froyo. All you'll have to do is login to your Google account and redownload your apps. No additional setup is needed to make calls, texts, etc. Before you reset, try out titanium or my backup. I'm not sure if they require full root or not but if they dont, you can backup all the apps you currently have installed and restore them to the new Rom. Hope this helps.
Sent from my EVO using xda App
It helps very much, thank you for your fast reply =D I tried out titanium backup but it requires busybox which is telling me it requires nand unlocked... I'm not to worried about it. Like you said I have all my contacts saved via google and the apps can all be re-installed once I have a custom rom I'm comfortable with.
Thanks again =D
try my backup pro it works well for me and it worked for me before being rooted and once rooted it will gain more features.

[Q] Root - Unroot best practice

Hi guys.
Thank you for all your great posts that have helped me a lot understand the android world as I am coming from 7 years iphone usage.
I'm trying hard to decide what is the best practice for rooting and if needed unrooting my G3. I have read a lot in this forum, but I can't say I feel ready. So I thought I might ask in the forum.
So, first thing to do is root. As I understand this is fairly simple, I just have to follow one of the posted methods.
Now, say I'm rooted. I do all the tweaks I want and then I need to backup everything. So, I suppose I will make a backup with Titanium pro.
Then a new firmware version is released. Now the questions start
1. Should I try to upgrade with lg suite without unrooting? What are the possible outcomes? Keep root? Loose Root? In this case can I just root again?
2. Go back to stock (with lg flash tool), then upgrade and then root again? In this case can I just load titanium backup and therefore recover all my data?
3. Just unroot without loosing data (e.g. With lg suite) then upgrade and reroot?
4. Is the backup I have made with Titanium useless if I flash my phone to stock and then remain unrooted?
Am I too confused? Lol
Can you guys give me an idea of how you proceed when a new firmware is out? How long does it take to follow your plan of unrooting-upgrading-rerooting? Is it a matter of minutes, hours?
Thank in advance.

[Q] Unrooting a stump-rooted device? - Is it really that easy?

Hey guys, what's the safest and easiest way to put my Sprint LG G3 phone back to a good warranty status so I can take it back to exchange for the Note 4? Since I didn't install any different ROMs or kernels or anything like that, is all I need to do is unroot? And I can do with stump root, right? They won't be able to easily see I rooted my device when I take in tomorrow?
EDIT: I just ran the Root Cleanup in SuperSu. Hope that does the trick.
EDIT 2: That didn't work. It simply froze during the uninstall :\
Why don't you just flash to stock via TOT or KDZ? It's easier that way and leaves no traces of Stump.

UnRoot with SuperSU

Hey everyone, I wanna unroot my phone and feel this is the easiest way. (Tmobile) The only thing i did while the phone was rooted was change xposed stuff to make the bars change colors and added a different kernel. I never put a new rom on it so its running the LG one still.
If i unroot with supersu will everything go smooth? I wanna factory wipe it so i can use my jump and trade it in. thanks in advance!

Why didn't you used the search function?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=322610576
https://www.google.com/search?q=back+to+stock+lg+g3
You will find this thread either way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
The thread will tell you how to revert to stock. You don't first need to unroot in order to go back to stock. The thread I just mentioned will help you revert back to stock with no trace you ever had root or a custom recovery etc.
