Hey, guys. First post here.
I have a second gen Kindle Fire with system version 1.4.6. I've sideloaded apps onto it before, and they all went through without a hitch. However, the last few times I've tried, when i get to the screen detailing what the app is allowed to do on the system, I can't touch the install button and start the installation. It just doesn't respond at all, but the Cancel Button next to it does. Can anyone help explain why and/or help me fix the problem?
you could root your device and install your apps directly from the play store...
I've had the latest spmc running on a new fire tv for a few days now with the latest launcher version rooted so it would boot when I start. I was loading a movie today which was taking really long so i did a force restart and when i started back up spmc was completely gone from the applications menu. I reinstalled it and none of my addons or library content is still there so I assume it wiped everything. Is this a normal occurence? I've never had this happen before.
After updating my Fire TV with rbox's 51.1.6.3 rooted firmware I started to notice a problem in Kodi. When watching a video (via SMB or USB) I would skip around and it would eventually freeze, get pixelated and then struggle to catch up to where it should be. Most of the time it would get so bad that I'd have to exit the video and resume.
I was running Kodi 15.1 Isengard when I first noticed this, so I upgraded to 15.2 RC1 and the problem was still there. Downgraded to 15.0, same problem. Tried SPMC, the same. After eliminating Kodi as the issue I downgraded my Fire TV to rbox's rooted 51.1.6.2 and everything was fine again.
I'm curious to see if this anyone else has run into this problem. If you do reply, please say whether you're rooted or not.
Shoot! I did notice it's a lot more difficult to fast forward. I thought it happened to be the new files I was using or something with the file server.
Not just you I went through same steps as you. Have big issues with kodi since updating.

Hi! I have an non-rooted first generation Fire TV, and a 3 weeks ago when I started it up, I painfully discovered that pretty much everything other than the main Amazon app were simply GONE. I haven't the faintest clue as to why this happened, but after several attempts to recover the missing apps, etc, I finally resorted to a factory reset. I then re-installed all my previous apps, but only one of them failed every time I ran it: Netflix for AFTV!
Netflix invariably now immediately reports the "UI-800-3" error and it never stops. I followed all the instructions about how to resolve this problem, but it never works. One possibly critical issue is that, after uninstalling Netflix, when I use the main Amazon interface to attempt to re-download it -- or ANY other app! -- any click on any app to download it is totally ignored! No click sound, no response whatsoever!
So I used the "Apk Extractor" app on the Netflix app on my Second Generation Fire TV, and then installed it on the first AFTV using ADBLink, which completed without error. From then on the "UI-800-3" error nightmare began.
So what I need is a Netflix for AFTV apk that's compatible with First Gen Fire TVs running FireOS v5.2.1.1 -- Does anyone have such?
I've seen recommendations to use the APK for Netflix for Android TV, but that hasn't worked out for me.
Kindly help me. Thanks!
I've tried using ADBLink to install the following Netflix apks: Netflix_3.3.5.apk and Netflix_4.0.5.apk
The latter reports that it is incompatible with first generation Fire TVs, so I uninstalled it.
The former tries to run, but again gets infinite "UI-800-3" errors.
So I removed all the DNS blocks that were preventing Amazon updates, and went ahead (very reluctantly) and upgraded to the latest system, v5.4.2 (if I'm recalling it correctly). But Netflix still refuses to run without eternal "UI-800-3" errors!
Furthermore, when I manually navigate around the main Fire TV app looking to download Netflix, it's nowhere to be found! Every other app shows up and allows downloading EXCEPT Netflix!
What the hell is going on?

Happened a while back. Netflix is only allowing the most recent version of their app to access their service. And those more recent versions only run on FIreOS 5. So you need to look thru this forum to the numerous ways to upgrade your FTV1 to FireOS 5. It's that simple.
I performed yet ANOTHER full reset and ANOTHER system update until no further updates were available, and finally, Netflix appeared and installed fine. Happily, it works fine!
I haven't submitted enough posts yet that I'm allowed to post external links, but I will be posting the working Netflix apk in another thread, here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/help/netflix-apk-compatible-aftv-gen-1-please-t3628174
I updated to the latest prerooted rom by rbox (jan 8 2018) on fire tv 1 and now can't find Netflix.
I had it before upgrading I was way back at os3, 51.1.1.0 or something and saw it under settings all apps, cleared it's cache and data, then uninstalled. Now when I search for netflix it doesn't find anything. Tried resyncing my purchased stuff under my account and still don't see it. Should I try and reflash the rom now that I've removed my old netflix apk?

An update: I got my answer in a similar board from @Sizzlechest :
"I just installed Netflix on my rooted Fire TV 1 with the latest OS and Netflix works fine.
EDIT: Here's a link to my Netflix APK: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjlFvM-kUCwh_VrvNbHA-1xdlIx0 "
Hi
Would you mind posting the netflix apk as I have the same issue
I just extracted this today: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjlFvM-kUCwhgP8UnX0ZLA7WOenuDw
My 4k firestick is attached to my Sony Android TV and I haven't tried using Prime Video on the Firestick for quite some time as I usually watch Prime Video via Android TV on the Sony. When I recently tried Amazon Prime on the Firestick I had audio for about 10 seconds but no video and the the Firestick rebooted. On a second try there was 10 seconds or so of audio and no video and then the firestick froze. There was no response to any button on the controller and I had to physically disconnect power to get it to reboot. I'm on the latest version 6.2.8.1 of the OS.
My firestick is rooted and I've extended the internal memory onto a USB. I have also installed the Launcher Manager and the Wolf launcher.
Oddly, Amazon Prime will play trailers but not the main video ?? Other streaming sources such as the BBC iPlayer work fine.
Has anyone else experienced this or can offer an explanation/fix for this ?
This is discussed in other forum post also,
Just update TZ via twrp.

Thank you for your prompt response. In the meantime I installed mantis-6.2.8.1-rooted_r2.zip but it has led to the disappearance of TWRP so I can't try your solution. Thank you all the same.

Flashing rbox's prerooted rom in no was can remove your TWRP.
If you flashed his rom on top of older roms (i.e <8.0) then your efuse should be intact. By judging that you are able to boot your stick means you haven't performed any modifications. Also means you haven't disabled OTA on your stick.
I think you should try to unlock once again, after that disable OTA.
