[Q] Got some questions about Defy...

Hi all!
I'm about to buy a Motorola Defy. But I've got some questions before that:
I've read some tutorials about how to flash cRoms to it and they all use a nandroid backup to flash it. Isn't it dangerous to use other ones backup?
Does anyone knows if the croms published here would work on an 'Argentinian' Defy?
Using the nandroid backup method to flash croms, how many chances are there to brick a phone?
If while flashing a crom, the Defy ends up bricked. Is there any way to recover it (for example using and own nandroid?)? And in case of not having a previous nandroid, is there any method?
If any Android dev (app or game dev) reads this, is Defy a good phone to debug apps?
Think it's all for now, sorry for asking too many questions xD
Thanks in advance!
1. Dangerous? No. The hardware is the same and no personal information is shared.
2. I do not know what the specifics are to Argentina - which band for instance, so I can not answer this with any certainty.
3. Unless you remove the battery while using RSDlite, I doubt your phone will become bricked that easily.
4. There is a thread on debranding / installing different firmware / recovering a bricked Defy, in the Defy Android Development sub-forum.
5. I think debugging is actually done using the SDK, in an emulator, instead of on the phone itself. Ofcourse, applications which make use of wireless connections (WiFi/Bluetooth/Mobile Network), would have to be tested on the phone.
(off-topic: I have not heard of anyone actually bricking their Defy in the true sense of the word, i.e. not being able to get anything out of it. A bricked device does absolutely nothing. If you get the display to power up, it's not actually bricked. But I understand that a lot of people seem to refer to almost any problem where the phone does not start up as they expect it to as 'bricked'.)
Closest I have come to truly bricking my device is when the battery was too low to boot the phone and I was in the middle of flashing it.

Here are used to bands, 800 & 1900. Would they work?

Yes, I know. But I'm making a port of a game I did for PSP (Musikr), and It's almost done and I wanna see how it works in a real phone
Thanks a lot!

if I'm not mistaken the hboot version points to the HTC Bee? (the CDMA version of the buzz) - could you just check that? (should show up if you boot into HBOOT)
If so there seem to be not much hope (as this device hasn't been sold many times - so there's not a big dev community (better: none).
Have a look at this thread (there's also a screenshot of the boot screen): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831546#14

[Q] i need help with ny evo lte bad!

I keep trying to update my phone to 4.0.4 and this thing called clockwork mod pops up and stops it. I want that off and I want ny update! I have no idea how to make my phone back to normal please help!
If you have the EVO 4G LTE then you are on the wrong forum, this is for the international HTC One X with quad core CPU. Head over to Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE instead, it is a completely different phone.

If you're still here, STOP DOING THAT AND GO TO YOUR DEVICE FORUM TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO UPDATE.
The new update will remove root and if you are not S-OFF, it makes S-OFF impossible.

Help with modifying C6603

Ok, so i feel like an idiot but i really need some guidance.
I recently acquired a brand new xperia z with the UK carrier EE, really happy with it but i knew fairly soon after recieving it that i would be rooting it.
This is my 3rd xperia device and the first one that actually allows the bootloader to be unlocked, huzzah.
So i went ahead and unlocked the bootloader with no trouble at all, but the problem i am now faced with, is that i want install CWM and continue on to root the device, but since the bootloader has been unlocked, the settings menu on the phone crashes consistently and the SD card isnt working properly in the phone, when connected to my laptop the sd card is not showing either.
What im asking is, has anyone else had this problem? and does anyone know of a fix ?
i dont know what information is required so i'll provide as much as i think is relevant
Model
C6603
AV 4.3
build 10.4.1.B.0.101
if you need anything else just ask and i'll do my best to provide it
Thanks in advance!
