Hey guys! I'm picking up an Xperia Play in a couple of days and was looking for some general advice about the phone. This will be my first Android device, I've been on WebOS/Garnet for my last two phones. I'm just a little overwhelmed with the options presented by the Play and Android in general. For instance, I'm not sure if I should root my phone or not - what are the advantages?
Any other general guides to Android/the Play would be wonderful if any such guides exist. I'm looking to deck this thing out with every emulator on the market as well as get the PSXperia hack up and running (I've downloaded the program, but can't figure out how to use it).
You can sense my overall noobishness in general, I'm sure. Any advice or tips about this device would be great. I'm really excited about the Play and getting comfortable with Android. Thanks everybody!

congratz im waiting for mine is the mail right now lol
rooting allows you to have full access to the file system sorta like a administrator
on a windows machine since out the box you cant edit files or remove bloatware without root you cant install certain programs from the market without root
also having root and unlocked bootloader allows you to flash a custom recovery image which will allow you to flash customs roms(a custom version of android dev by a user here on xda or anywhere in general)
yes i highly recommend but if you ever plan on returning the phone to verzion for example you will have to revert it back to stock
and for the program psxperia you need to install the latest version of java from java.com
and if your on a windows machine you double click the psxperiatool.JAR file
and it should run not sure on OSX
in the end you made a good choice on choosing android as mainstream as it became its still a powerful system way better IMO than ios or even webos
since android has so many developers theres gonna be an endless amount of programs
will post new finds myself etc

You cannot flash the recovery image directly or you will mess up boot partition, you need to flash a kernel with embedded recovery built in
Thanks for the info. I'm confused about the locked/unlocked bootloaders. How do I know which one I'll have? And how "easy" of a process is rooting the phone if I don't plan to install any custom roms or anything?
Also, how does transferring .apk files from my PC to the device work?

If you havent unlocked your bootloader yourself it is locked there are many risks and advantages to unlocking your bootloader, but if you dont intend to flash custom roms there really is no need, just like with root, if you dont know what it is, you probably wont need it
transfering .apk's from your pc is easy, just copy the .apk to your sd card, then use a file manager to find the .apk, tap on it and the installer will pop up , you need to tick unknown sources in settings though

hes asking about android in general not aiming specifically at the xperia play
If I root my phone, do I have to switch everything back in order to get updates? All I really want to root my phone for would be to remove bloatware/speed it up a bit, is there a better way than rooting?
There is plenty of tutorials here, I suggest that you read, read, and then......read some more

Thanks so much for this link, it's seriously going to help me while rooting my phone. This might be a dumb question, but bear with me - better safe than a bricked phone. The guide to rooting in that link says that I need to flash my Play to the .184 Generic UK firmware...am I understanding it correctly that I need flash this firmware onto my American Verizon Play? I want to make sure nothing is going to get screwed up regionally, as I'm going to want to keep getting OTA updates and all that.
Just to share my own experiences since I'm new to the Xperia Play (previously had an Acer Liquid.. crappy hardware but great community of devs.. anyways..)
I'd recommend rooting your phone off the bat - the simple reason is rooting will involve wiping your phone's data, so if you already have a few months of use that means having to restore everything which is tiresome. First thing when my phone arrived was follow the rooting guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090
After that however I wouldn't recommend messing around TOO much with custom firmwares and such etc.. get used to the phone as it is and figure out what you like, don't like. if your like me within a few weeks or months you'll want something new - this is when you might want to start looking at messing around with the phone - new home launchers or even a new ROM (if your phone can have it's boot loader unlocked, from what I understand mine can't). The games and Emulators should keep you busy as is
The only customizing I've done to my phone is rooting it with Gingerbreak and using the leaked Sony Launcher.
I realize this is a pretty nooby thing to do that annoys all the veterans, but I consider this to be a fairly crucial piece of information I need before I attempt to root my phone, so I'm just gonna go ahead and bump this thing before it gets lost in the shuffle.
In order to root with a locked bootloader on an American Verizon XPlay, I need to flash to the .184 generic UK firmware, then root, then OTA update, correct?

No. That method will not work on the r800x (verizon xplay) to root yours you will need to see [How-to] R800x Root
Dont worry about annoying people lol . Who cares what others think? Everyone has to start somewhere.
But it would be better with a stickied thread for new users to look @.
So now, instead of the 3 step process linked previously in this thread, I have to unlock the bootloader and do a whole bunch of other stuff? This method is like 100x more complicated. Is there no other way? I don't intend to install any custom roms, I strictly want to root solely for freezing bloatware.
No i dont think so. You would be better asking for help from other r800x owners in that thread.
The exploit gingerbreak uses on 2.3.2 was patched in 2.3.3 (worldwide) and was also patched by verizon before they released the handset on 2.3.2. Up untill the bootloader was unlocked on the r800x rooting was not possible.
Ask in that thread and you should recieve the help/info you are after.

Their is not such thing as a bricked phone
always is a way to fix it and usually its as simple as flashing a FTF
or whatever stock rom your device uses takes like 5 minutes tops lol
and logsemans guides will tell you anything you need to know
just use them for refrence
Xperia Play Super Compilation (Q&A Sticky)
and if you head down the path of rooting and stuff
messing with files
you wont be able to get ota updates lol.
it will "brick you"

When it says unlocked, is it talking about my SIM or my bootloader?
Do Nexus's come bootloader unlocked, I mean; they are dev friendly.
Don't make fun of me, I'm only curious and trying to start learning about android and maybe even develop things considering I do know alot about graphics.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I forgot it meant bootloader (blonde moment?), but is this regular for nexus devices?
I'm almost certain it's talking about your bootloader but to be certain reboot your device. If you see an unlocked padlock under Google when you turn on your device your bootloader is unlocked.

Yeah it is, I know that; i edited my post after realizing that.
But what I'm asking is; Is it typical for nexus devices to come with unlocked bootloaders or not?
I got my from i wireless and I believe it is a imported device.
It's not. Probably was returned/refurbished.
Haaah.
What are the chances that it's rooted and how can I check?
I traded in my One S and got this phone as a replacement.
Strange that it came in the original boxing with everything.
Thanks man.
If it doesn't have superuser then it isn't rooted.
Thanks.
I'm gonna be a noob and ask one more question.
Is it easy to brick your phone from rooting?
Or SuperSU. Try rootchecker. "Is it easy to brick your phone from rooting?" Not from rooting but perhaps flashing if you tend to jump into things..
brainfart moments can give you a softbrick pretty easily, but with fastboot and (we arent quite fans of this like the fascinate people were) ODIN you would have to realllllly screw up and probably try to completely brick it. make sure you have fastboot set up and working correctly before doing anything questionable. it will save your ass lol
edit: speaking of fastboot, i would probably use it to format and reflash all partitions with the latest stock image before messing around since it sounds like your phone has been screwed with before you got it (you never know what other people did to it). theres a really good guide about resetting to stock in either the general or q/a section here. dont worry about relocking the bootloader, there isnt really a way to unlock it wrong... it either works or doesnt. since you sound pretty tech savvy, please dont use toolkits, learn fastboot. it seems like toolkits are a one click problem, not a one click fix lol.

Practically impossible. You'd have to not read anything and then willfully do something to ruin your device. And even then it's almost certainly recoverable so not bricked.
It seems nearly impossible to brick your device. x.x
I installed ParanoidAndroid last nigh but for some reason I tried installing a mod and I lost the status bar and home buttons.
I was so pissed off, I had to unroot my device and reflash the stock rom.
I'm going to try using CyanogenMod 10.1 and see where it gets me. It will probably be better considering you can make alot more customizations to your device ui and such.
Thanks 063_XOBX.
Well, first things first...
I am a noob, and this is the first time I am using an android phone (moving from the Nokia N97 and Nokia C6). So please be patient (and tolerant).
The dealer I got this phone from wasnt sure if it was soft-unlocked (the ones which get locked if you update OS) or otherwise, and he most certainly didnt have (or give me) the unlock code.
The phone has been a delight for the past 3 months, and I love the the stunned look on the faces of everyone around, when I slide open the keyboard!! However, after doing a google search I discovered that there's an ICS update for the i927. And that has resulted in me googling to find out the likelyhood that my phone will re-lock to ATT.
To my surprise (or inability), I couldnt find a definite answer/guide as to what users of unlocked i927s, who do not have the unlock code, should do exactly, to "safely" update to ICS.
I have downloaded most of the tools (Odin 3.07, EFS 2.0.7 and the "I927UCLJ3_I927ATTLJ3_ATT" stock from samfirmware). And I had KIES and the drivers installed from day 1.
But the problem is that I dont have a road-map. Or a troubleshooting guide, in case I encounter unanticipated errors/crashes.
The other thing is uncertainty about the phone getting "re-locked". Some mobile repair guys say I should flash the update with my eyes closed (it wont re-lock to ATT, they say). However, the other side disuades me, and I have yet to find an across-the-counter shop which will give me an unlock code.
Of course, I think I can live without the update if I have to. But, I was hoping for a bit of help (or a step-by-step or link-by-link guide).
The other thing I want to know is whether flashing the ATT ICS update can also corrupt my IMEI details (and hence the need to back up with EFS)??
Finally, I would like mention that my phone is an un-rooted i927 (ATT) running Android 2.3.6.
Any help would be really be appreciated.
Not sure what to make of this..
The lack of replies has made me (even more) doubtful if a noob like me would be able to update my i927. I hope someone can tell me if my i927 is "updateable" or is the ICS update preferably for only the "authentic" i927 handsets??

If you have a SIM card from something not using the AT&T network, put it in. That will tell you if your phone is SIM unlocked or not (I think that's what you're asking).
In theory, applying the ICS update may re-lock your phone; it depends on how it was SIM unlocked in the first place.
My recommendation is:
1) Update to ICS (it's worlds better than GB)
2) If the phone re-locks to AT&T, then just buy and unlock code for a few dollars

I am already using a local SIM card on the phone (Airtel) since the day I bought the phone. All the features are working on the phone, except the WiFi tethering, which is also the biggest reason for my doubts (and reluctance) about flashing the ICS update. The WiFi tethering feature does not recognise my Airtel data connection (2G), making me to believe some features are still AT&T specific (like the ringtones feature).
The other thing is, re-locking is a significant concern, but its not the biggest concern (for me). Since I first visited the "Captivate Glide" section on this forum, I have read about problems like the IMEI number (or other important phone data) corrupting, bricking my phone (which I know no one in the world can guarantee against), or the phone getting stuck in the start up mode (read it somewhere here, although I dont know if it was an OS update related failure).
Anyways, I hope that clears up the current status of my i927, and thanks for replying.
A bit more help please...
I know I asking basic noob questions about updating, but I was hoping for a bit more guidance actually...
Like what do I do with the I927UCLJ3_I927ATTLJ3_ATT.zip file?? Do I unzip it, or just copy it the phone memory and reboot into Odin??
The other thing is I started the EFS app on my PC and connected my phone to it, but the IMEI and other numbers are just all 0s. So, I am thinking, I did something wrong there as well...
I am well aware that no one in the world can guarantee against bricking a phone. I just want to have a proper guide on how to update, so that I have the best odds possible

1. It seems you're trying to upgrade your Glide via Odin. Unzip the zip, get all the files, put them in Odin folder (NOT the SD card, Odin is a PC-based tool) in the forums to proceed.
EDIT: Google is man's best friend. This is the Odin guide I followed when just a week ago I'm still new to my Glide: http://androidromupdate.com/2012/11/10/i927uclj3-new-ics-4-0-4-for-samsung-sgh-i927-captivate-glide/
2. Your EFS may already be dead Or I don't know, never used that tool before.
Sent from Samsung Captivate Glide @ I927UCLJ3
Okay I'll still advice you use the efs tool to. Back up your efs foder, then put your phone in download mode, using Odin flash the stock ICS ROM when its through flash any of the recovery through Odin again then allow the phone to reboot. you can now flash any of the ROMs I prefer the lite ROM anyways.
Good luck.

Hello Everyone.
Good News for everyone. I have decided to maintain a help thread at HTC ONE M9 community in order to keep the threads for development/general section more clean and better organised. I have been noticing for a long time that whenever new users join, they still are not sure about the rules and thus mistakenly post in the wrong sections too often. If any senior member points it out to them, mostly it is either ignored or taken personally. Thus I have decided a combined help section would be very helpful to the community and the questions which are sometimes left unanswered and lost in question answer forums, that would not happen again for all of you.
I would be trying my best to personally answer all your questions and shall refer you to someone in case I feel someone else would be able to answer the same question in a more detailed way. Other users can feel free to answer as well if you think you can tackle the situation well and make sure while answering any question, you provide enough information to the users as well. You can easily link the users to posts if you think a question has been already answered.
REASONS I AM MAKING THIS
Lots of repetitive questions.
Same things told again and again
Threads remain clean
A simple reference to every important thread that you should visit in case you have a problem
WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO
Read the rules here XDA RULES BEFORE YOU POST
Idea of this thread is to help and to be helped. So ask any question you have in mind related to S6, Android, or anything at all as long as it is related to your device directly or indirectly.
Make sure you are precise with your information
Be Detailed
Do not repeat the same thing again and again
Use search button to find if your question has been asked before. Do not repeat your question if it is answered before.
WHAT INFORMATION YOU MUST PROVIDE
1.Your bootloader status if applicable
2. Rom name with complete baseband/date/version
3. Kernel name
4. Any Mods you are using
5.If you are using Custom Rom, your flashing style i.e dirty/clean or you wiped anything else in specific
6. If you used any guide, link to the guide
7. Root status
8. Your exact problem
9. Any method you tried that failed
10.Any other detail you think would be necessary
Make sure you provide as much details as possible. Things like my phone won't turn on please help would not be of any help to you or to the person answering. So please make sure you provide as much detail so we know exactly what is your problem and thus guide you in the right direction.
A sample would be something like this
Device: HTC ONE M9
ROM name: CM 12 dated 10th May
ROM version and base: 3.99-RC2
Build number: CM_M9-userdebug 4.3 JLS36G
kernel version and its settings: 3.4.0-myspecial.kernel.plus [email protected] #193
Rooted
Sabertooth Mod
I can not use my WIFI. Although i tried flashing Wifi modules but it does not work.
I flashed CM over Stock firmware version X.X.X.X.Y.Z
ETC

Another important thing is MAKE SURE YOU THANK THE PERSON who helps you. This is to show your appreciation to someone who personally took his time to answer your question. He had been nice enough to do it for FREE and nothing else. A simple thank you to his post will go a long way. The questions would be answered more and the one who is answering would be happy to answer more questions. So it is a gain gain situation for all of you. Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes. I'm running the HTC M9 with VZW. This is my first Android, so I haven't rooted/unlocked/anything yet. I'm not even sure if I want to for the time being, since I don't currently have the time to troubleshoot any problems that might arise. Anyway, on to my question:
From what I have read, it seems VZW made HTC disable the FM radio, or at least didn't ship with the FM radio app. 3rd party apps like NextRadio don't work. I went and found an .apk for what I thought was the current version, but it doesn't work (as soon as I open it it crashes).
Is there either a stock APK, or a 3rd party app that will allow me to use the FM radio tuner, without rooting it? If not, what steps would I need to take to be able to use said app?
Again, my apologies for my ignorance in such matters. I'm fairly good with computers and even have some knowledge of troubleshooting Android devices, but I know absolutely zero about rooting/flashing/etc.
Many thanks all!

Hello mate. You have chosen the correct forum.
I was comparing verizon HTC One M9 with International M9.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/vzw/...iceProdId=dev4120028&priceToggle=24#techspecs
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9-6891.php.
If you see the specs, you'd find that Verizon has not listed radio at all. If it is verizon that is blocking the radio, it can be used through a mod/ root or using another app However, if it has not got a radio antenna inside, I'm afraid no amount of apps or mods would work.
Try this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm_unlock
I hope this is enough. If you still got question, quote me and I'd be happy to help you out.

I have a situation here ... I have quite massive battery drain from Google Play Services on my HTC One M9. I check with my gf Samsung Galaxy S6 and her G play services were about 1%. My were almost 50%... The only difference is I use LG G Watch R paired to my phone but I tried disconnecting it and still same... I use Google Fit and also tried disabling it but not much of a difference. There was about 10% less of drain when I put my location on battery save. But it is still over the ruff with that drain. My device is not rooted so I can't check battery wakes ... I kinda don't know what to do any more. Has any one had problem like this and how did you solve it?
I am thankful for any responses or ideas. (Sorry for bad English)

Go into Google play and uninstall updates. Do the same for google play services. Turn off google location services and keep location on low battery use (GPS only)
Read this guide as you'd be updating your apps manually. Make sure you note down version of google play services /google play. In case a new update comes, you can try and see if battery drain is fixed.
Quote me back with your results.

Actually it depends what you like to do with your phone. Do you root it as well or not.
I always like to root all my devices. Therefore, Titanium Backup is an app I can not live without.
SuperSu pro paid version is worth it for I like to support the developer who puts so much effort.
Mx Player Pro is also great for movies. BS Player is something I would recommend as well. I use both of them for videos
Next is Moon+Reader which is also great for reading books (PDF, EPUB, MOBI and lots of other files supported)
It is also wise to invest in OfficeSuite. It is also worth it.
CamScanner Pro is also worth it as you can scan documents from your phone!
I also like SD Maid Pro (root) to clear up cache / unused files.
Then , there are lots of games to play.
If you can tell me what kind of apps you are interested in, maybe I can shed some more light

Hey all, I got a few questions regarding installing a custom ROM
I just unlocked, flashed a custom recovery (TWRMP) and flash superuser.
1. Can't make a nandroid backup of the stock ROM, sais the backup size is 0 bytes, is this normal?
2. can't get into recovery the old fashion way (power + volume down), instead I use ADB. I fear when I try to flash and I get into bootloop for w/e reason, I can't get into recovery at all. How can I solve this?
3. is there a no sense ROM somewhere out there?
4. What is AROMA? is it a custom recovery?
thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Find all the guides in this forum in second post and I suggest you look at the first few posts as well.
1. No, 0 bytes is not normal at all
2. Sometimes, the normal keys do not work because a proper exploit has not been found till date and thus, they are using a work around for that. Give it time, a developer will soon come up with a proper fix.
3. yes, all roms based on AOSP and CM would be without HTC sense. Check in the development section of this device to see if there has been development. As for now, there have not been any but I am sure many would come up pretty soon. As a general rule, all roms based on stock usually come with Sense, while all custom roms based on CM/AOSP or themselves are Sense Free.
4. AROMA is basically a smart way to flash any recovery/kernel/ rom. Usually in Aroma, small details can be chosen to your likings (In case of kernel, you can select, its governors, mods, processor and GPU clockspeed, etc). So Aroma gives more choice over normal flash.

Here is a guide for all errors regarding Playstore. See if any of these help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733038
Are you using some kind of add blocker or apps which hack playstore ?
Have you tried downloading via data /another wifi.
I also suggest if you are rooted, go to device/etc and delete "hosts file" if clearing cache and data is not helping.
Sometimes removing your account and clearing data/cache and relogging in helps.
Quote me back if you still have a question
Hi!
I searched well but didn't found any information about this.
I want to unlock bootloader and S-OFF, but WITHOUT using HTCDev at all. I don't want that any info goes to them. Is there a method to do it at home without searching for people with "programmators" or "javacards"?
Do you know where the location of the screen off animation is please?
I don't mean the boot / shut down animation, i mean the animation which occurs when we lock the device, it used to be the CRT animation but it's been removed, what we have now is a fade animation, on the S6 this has been modified, i'd like to do the same with our M9's but i'm not sure of the location.
Cheers,

Well, actually unless a developer finds an exploit to S-OFF a device/ unlock bootloader without HTCDev, I do not think there is a way to do that. Currently I am not sure of any developer working on it and I am not much hopeful that someone would when it is already available officially.
In my experience, I have been using android for a long time now from 2009, unlocking a device does not make any difference . Every device I bought, I unlocked it using official tools provided by manufacturer and never regretted it.
Also, usually it is in terms that your warranty could be voided, however, usually first time you mess up your phone and take it for support, they warn you and reinstall the software for you. And mostly they do not give much damn about it. (That's how it happens in the UK)

Actually I am not sure where it is exactly either. However, it could be that they have integrated in SystemUI or made an apk for individual effect.
If you are rooted, install any app by which you can see system apps, and look for any app that shows animation/effect/fade etc.
See if that helps, however , if it does not, I will research for you and get back but make sure you quote me ! Or you can use xposed to manually find/change the effect.

Cheers mate, i've actually went and installed an xposed module which enables this, i was trying to avoid that as I think xposed is a little heavy and is still an alpha build.
Will keep looking as i'd like to mod this myself without xposed.
PS: Haven't got any thanks left but will get you tomorrow cheers.

Don't mention it mate. No trouble.
Glad I could be of help.
Ive see ROMs showing they need or require me to be on a certain firmware before using that ROM. How do I update the firmware? I thought that came with the ROM, as part of it. Some are requiring firmware I don't even see posted yet. If i were to install a firmware, will that change or wipe the current ROM? Also some require me to be s-off. I think, if read right, I need the $25 app to s-off? Correct? What is the reason to s-off? I've been running ROMs that don't require it, seem to work fine.

honestly I am not sure of the $25 price for an app which is claiming to S off device.
If it is sunshine S off, I approve, else it could be a scam or the real thing.
I succesffully download the sunshine app for free but i didnot run it on my android so I am not sure!
There are few links you must see, how to unlock S for your device.
http://venomroms.com/sunshine-s-off-for-the-htc-one-m9-released/

As far as upgrading your STOCK ROM is concerned, Look at this guide. There are also some unofficial ways
http://www.htc.com/uk/support/htc-one-m9/howto/602178.html
S off is basically a lock on your device which prevents flashing custom Roms and modification to your device via scripts.
Quote me back if you still have a question

The Sunshine app is developed by a several XDA recognized developers. Read about it in the official thread. At the website they set up, they offer some information about themselves as well as some answers to frequently asked questions.
I haven't been around this device to speak knowledgeably about it's related hacks, but this seems legitimate.
Why we still don't have Custom ROMs and kernels for this device after almost six months of his realise?
Is it problem in MTK or..?
MTK hard bricks the device way too much, and to unlock need some special Xiaomi account with some access that only few people has.
I have bricked my RN8 pro once and unbricked it without any special account ... I dont believe thats the reason for lack of custom software...

Because you didn't hard bricked your phone, you should read Xiaomi EU statements concerning this phone, way too many people have hard bricked their devices for no apparent reason and only way to unbrick is with authorized account.

I believe it's only an issue if you mess up the boot partition image. I've flashed 5 GSI ROMs and then back to stock with no issues. I just avoided touching the boot partition (aside from using magisk). My model is the EU one, but I'm curious if any of the bricked users flashed their boot partition before bricking?

I to believe the same thing. I have flashed from GSI back to stock, and vise versa atleast 3 times. I don't get what the issue is either

Also keep in mind you obviously know what you are doing. I'd say we cannot be hold responsible for people not following precise guides posted by those who knows better, but, between people starting to flash stuff before waiting for their bootloader to be unlocked (yeah waiting 7 days can be frustrating... it is...), those not flashing the right thing at the right place, those forgetting a step or more (or thinking they can shortcut a whole process), there also is something we have to consider.
It seems from the many post I have read in many places, most of the phones which ended bricked were the Chinese model (and when I say bricked I mean bricked. Of half of the people who claim their phone is bricked I am pretty sure they are not even if they think it is).
You probably know like me, people with no skills at all in that particular area or with computer sciences at all, talking to you about, i am going to flash this, remove that, root and put this in system... and they dont know what a bootloader is when you ask them if they unlocked it...
And if anything goes wrong they completely panic (my phone is bricked help me help me!), overreact without any cool, often making things even worse trying to fix something they hasty diagnosed wrongly, ending up in really bricking their phone if it was not already.
As we all know here, people in China are not allowed to do some stuff or using some other stuff (apps etc), they do not live in a democracy out there (do we?), and it would not surprise me State has phones to be made a certain way for local market so people cannot just simply go and flash what they want to do what they want with their phones.
Obviously there kind of always is a way around, but, maybe not as easy and Plug n Play solution.
Some made the choice to order their phones from AliExpress or any Chinese website like they are used to do with their other toys making quite same savings doing so (aren't all of our toys made in China after all?), and end up with more difficult device to work around.
It seems that Eu/Gobal flavors of the phones are somehow more permissive (or people having them know how to read/follow tutorials better, or just more used to flashing with decades of trainings idk). For this Eu/Global market they have to follow some rules and regulations if they want to be approved for that said market (for all I know maybe they also had to put some specific backdoors so our own state services can snoop in?) example the call recording option considered as a privacy issue for people being recorded in EU/USA.
Now about touching the boot partition, from what I have read, it would be more when messing with recovery most phones ended bricked when people try to flash it/make it stick in recovery on some phones flavors (Chinese imo).
If the flavor that was shipped to dev was a Chinese one, no wonder why they got so many problems.
I am not even sure the Global/Eu one was ready to ship at that time.
Anyway just speculating here, because me too I am wondering what's the problem with this phone.
And not really being 'root' of the device you purchase with your own money straight out of the box also is a concept I am having hard time to live with. I cannot understand why we customers tolerate buying a phone for which we do not have an easy recovery option (rescue DVD or whatever, plug in, restore, done) if case anything goes wrong, or just if we want to restart fresh.
It used to be like this before with all phones and computers.
Nowadays it is not anymore most of the time.
Regards.
how bootloader relock in redmi note 8 Pro. i alredy relock bootloader in many redmi devices with this command 'fastboot oem lock " is this will work on redmi note 8 pro.

It is not. I recommend you joining the official telegram group to get all the updates first hand.
Apparently the person posting this is the lead dev of POSP, so I think it is quite a legit claim.
That he is working on begonia is also visible on his github:
https://github.com/AgentFabulous?tab=repositories
Talked to the developer personally ... Stable version should be released in week or two...
