That is the kernel itself. Feel free to test it. I am on VANIR now and all is perfectly functioning.
How to:
1. Flash your CM11 ROM
2. Flash GAPPS
3. Flash this kernel
4. Kaching!
Of course do the wipes needed, and please use latest recovery.
IMPORTANT!
1.) If coming from stock F240x, I suggest flash first the ROM first:
ROM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4ohMhs_kMaKeFJVTUdJNjVsQzA/edit?usp=sharing
FIX: http://www.mediafire.com/download/lseokglsialjtqz/Fix_17.5.14.zip
2.) Then install FREEGEE, install CWM 6.0.4.7 recovery, place the CM11 ROM, GAPPS, this KERNEL to your device storage.
3.) Reboot to recovery, make a backup first to be sure, do the wipes, flash as instructed above, do another dalvik wipe, boot to system.
4.) If all is well, then you are good. If not report back here.

CM11 has knock on? This is news to me...
As far as I know CarbonROM, Beanstalk, and PAC all don't have knock on.
Carbon, however, has pocket mode that slightly drains battery, but it isn't nearly as bad as knock on

Hi people, im new here coming from xperia 2011 series. I have the e 975 modell.
Wanna root and flash custom kernel and rom. Im a bit confused cuz there seems some other modells like e973 and for sprint theres a own section. What means Sprint? So can i flash a rom from every modell or only the ones for e975. And what about roms for nexus4, did they work?
Thanks in advance.

Carrier specific roms are different... If you flash those, RIL might now work...
Also E975 and E973 and others models are same as compared to specifications but are not the same when it comes to roms and kernels :/
About Nexus 4, You have to port roms from Nexus 4 on CM10.1 Base then they will work

When you unlock with freegee TWRP recovery is automatically installed. I think you can also choose to install cwm though the app, not sure.
edit: cwm can of course be installed later if you wish, although twrp is perfectly fine. Remember that twrp and cwm nandroid backups are not compatible with each other!

Hey guys, just downloaded the latest RC of CM10.1
Question bout the kernel which is in the zip file, should i flash the boot.img without the zip?? or just flash the whole zip and it installs both, kernel and rom. On my old Sony device i had to extract the zip first to take out the boot.img and flashing it with a pc and then in recovery the rom itself. I know that now on my e975 i can flash kernel in recovery too.

What's the best custom rom+kernel combo for the e975. For best performance overall and gaming.
With stock i scored on Antutu Benchmark about 18000 ponts, with cm10.1 and kite kernel only 16000. I have a friend with a Nexus4 and he told me that he scored about 20000 points with paranoid rom and franco Kernel. I know that these Benchmarks are nothing important but i wanna show that my G has too that much of power
So which combo??

Hi everyone,
I've changed the focus of this thread to collect all the info and help about installing the geeb version of SlimKat on our E975.
After having SlimKat by @fusionjack on my I9100 as a daily driver and seen its smoothness and stability, I've found the geeb version of the latest SlimKat and would like to have it on our E975.
Feel free to post all that can help to make it work on our Optimus G
Thanks in advance to all that will give an hand
UPDATE
After a full wipe, all went good!
Currently running SlimKat on E975 without problems with @gearslam Ak-xGenesis Slimport-MOD kernel
Just follow the usual steps if you are coming from another rom, like me:
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe /cache
- Wipe /system
- Flash SlimKAT build
- Flash gapps package of your choice
- Optional: flash adreno update package
- Flash kernel
- Optional, but with my E975 I always do this at the end: flash SuperSU zip
- Reboot
All done!
All the sources for those too lazy to search XD
- SlimKAT builds: www.slimroms.net or @arcardinal thread HERE
- Gapps package, I prefer the micro modular one: HERE
- @gearslam kernel, the one tested, but other gee kernels may do the work anyway: HERE
- Adreno drivers april update: HERE
I think that's alla for now
Thanks to all the respective creators of kernels, rom and so on
Would also love an official SlimKat build for e975. A few devs gave it a go but couldn't fix multiple errors. The good news is that all you need to do is flash franco mod kernel after flashing geeb SlimKat
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701843
It works really well, i have not experienced any bugs

Hi everyone,
I'm a newcomer here in the E975 section, as I've floated around the I9100 for some months
Since I really like @fusionjack unofficial SaberMod SlimKat, I'd like to build one for the E975.
I've found a geeb build HERE and I would like to know if it's possible, starting from that, to port that to our E975, or if a simple gee kernel is enough.
I'm a newbie in building roms from scratch, and for that I'm googlin' a lot while BBQLinux iso is downloading
Any help, hint or advice is really appreciated
Thanks in advance for now

geeb is a cdma version of og... so after flashing the geeb rom u need to flash a gee kernel so that uget signal and data... it dont need port or anything else..u can flash any geeb rom and compatible gee kernel to get it work....what happens if you flash only geeb rom without kernel.........???? nothing happens it flashes and you would be able to boot the rom and everything will be working except fot mobile signals...if you are licky enough you may have signals also ... lol
So the steps are:
- flash geeb SlimKat rom
- flash gapps package
- flash mod kernel (franco or similar, but they must be MOD version right?)
- reboot
One last question: will the camera be recognized as a 8 mpx or will I find all my 13 mpx? XD
Thanks guys

OK, tried the latest geeb SlimKat weekly with the slim gapps package and 2 MOD kernels, FrancoMOD and AK-Genesis by @gearslam, but at the reboot have had only fc's.
All I've wiped are /cache, /dalvik and /system, not data, to not lost all the apps installed.
Will try with a complete wipe and let you know asap

What about the camera?
On any rom based on AOSP, including SlimKat, the camera can not focus on objects that are further away 20 cm from the phone.
Generally speaking i touch to focus no matter what rom, even stock. Slim camera focus is much better than 20cm. I use several camera apps too, again irrespective of rom. Just backup current rom, give slim a whirl, if you dont like it just reinstall backup

Back to the I9100 days, I can say from my experience that the SaberMod version by @fusionjack was the best rom regarding stability, smoothness and battery
For that reason I was so happy to see that a geeb version exists, and would like to try it even on my E975
I thought i just learned that geeb was for The e970 and gee/geehrc was for The e975 sprint and international version?

Hi everyone, using the slimkat from some weeks, all OK.
The only thing is: random touch not responding at all sometime. I have to reboot to make it work again.
Do I have to set some settings with trickstermod since I've tried ak-xgenesis and ported Francomod kernel?
@nchc and others can you give some hints?
Thanks in advance ?
I never had any issues with slim. I just got bored and eventually went back to stock. I was on an earlier build and most likely earlier kernel too . When i get home ill c what kernel i had, perhaps you could flash that to see if it improves touch issues. Have you updated to latest weekly and moded kernel?
Sent from my LG-E975 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well I'm on latest weekly 5.4 with Francomod r206, since there's no update from then for the kernel, and the issue seems to be gone for now. Maybe I was having some problems due to gearslam ak-xgenesis ported kernels?
Thanks for now
An update just to let you know that weekly 5.8 is working good with francomod kernel ? 4.4.3 is working good 'til now ?
I would like to try slim on my international e975. Which modded kernel should I download? GEE or GEEB? Can anyone please let me know??
Those for gee and with MOD in the name: francomod4gee for example ?
Another update just to say that even with gearslam's ak ported kernels it works like a charm

So if something goes wrong you will stay with a beautiful bricked tablet...
You must search before you will procide to this situation, for example, which model you got?eupore one or us carrier?
you can see that in settings on about tablet, then you will need the right tools and a computer to execute the commands,i recoment to to see some youtube videos before you will do anything and first of all make sure you will do a nandroid backup if something goes wrong.
Good luck!

Hey friend welcome to the forum!
I'm running Mahdi latest and last build.
And redKernel.
But you have to test all ROMs out and decide for yourself,
This ROM is better then that ROM talk is usually looked down upon here on XDA as every ROM developer spend alot of time on there ROM for the community.
Only advise I can give is test all ROMs and decide what one you like best
As far as Kernel you can go redKernel for CM AOSP ROMs.
Or
AIC for stock based (you can flash AIC for CM as well.)
But on stock ROM, AIC Kernel can overclock CPU and GPU slightly
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I've got my tablet currently on 4.4.2 (it's a v500 like op's) and I'm considering moving away from stock. However it seems that one of the downsides is that you lose the IR ability on the tablet. Is this correct? Are there other features that go missing when you move to a custom rom?

That is a very personal type question. Do you like how the stock interface is? That is Touch-Wiz. There are a few ROMs based on that. However, if you like the true Android interface, with some nice additions, you can try Cyanogenmod. I am on CM 11 m12 with no issues.
If you go into the Android Development section of this forum you will find the ROMs listed. Usually the threads will have attached photos or links to the releases' websites so you can make an informed decision.

There is a CM version of Lollipop (only in alpha stage right now-means not everything working , buggy).
Here's a couple to try, very good, stable, great battery life, no bugs, lots of customization available:
Wicked-X v8.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2750674
Tribute v2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768483
Support for questions is excellent.
First decision you need to make is "What do you want to do with the phone?"
Suggest using Philz recovery for flashing, backing up, etc. See it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446393
Hope this helps.

Wicked X has around 4 or 5 THOUSAND dls with lots of customizability and stability.
Tribute is a simple and stable dd. The stock ROM by CNexus is a good dd too. I'm not sure about aosp ROMs though. I've read good things about PAC ROM and CM11. Basically you'll just need to flash and experiment.
Edit: I forgot to mention Dark Droid and Conquest Singularity. They are prety great also.

The only reason I didn't mention Dark Droid and Conquest Singularity is they are no longer being developed. (At least the last time I checked). Still good choices but may still have some niggles in them.

I really like Carbon. It's based off of CyanogenMod and brings in source code from a bunch of others like Omni.
Good luck finding one. happy flashing
Me, too!!

I have been running Carbon ROM nightly now for over a week. Battery life is exceptional. No issues to report. Wifi and 4GLTE working fine. I'm on Sprint.
Here is the link for Carbon (basis for Graphene) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634672

yeah, the battery is exemplary. It's even better, now that I flashed BMS Kernel and use DS battery saver to prevent wakelocks. I won't drop more than two or three percent while at work for 10 hours.

When I flash CWM Recovery or TWRP Recovery after reboot goes back to Stock Recovery.

Try un checking the reboot option in Odin when you flash the recovery. You are Not supposed to let it reboot. It will override the recovery. Just pull the battery out, put It back in then boot into custom recovery wipe data, dalvik, cache and now flash your pre rooted custom Rom. Then reboot system.
Have a great day! from my LG G3

I was able to install even with "Auto Reboot" selected in ODiN 3.07
I have TWRP 2.8.1.0-d2spr recovery on my Sprint SIII
I installed it using the flashable TAR file with "Odin 3.07" program
-Download and install SAMSUNG USB DRIVERS
-Download TWRP TAR file
-Download "Odin" program
-Right click on "Odin" program and click on "run as administrator".
-Turn off your phone.
-Press and hold VOLUME DOWN button + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON on your S3
-You will see a Warning, Press the VOLUME UP BUTTON to continue
-Plug your USB cord into your S3
-ODIN will recognize your S3
-Select the box next to the PDA block in ODiN
-click on "PDA" button in ODiN
-Look for your recovery TAR file
-Click Start
-profit
I just rooted my D851 on 5.0.1 and now I want to flash a ROM. Can I get help or a link on flashing a custom recovery and ROM. And what ROM is in your opinion the best?

Follow the stock recovery installation directions.
Once you've got TWRP installed, seek out Illusion. Best custom ROM I've had the pleasure of using...

Perfect, thank you! I have everything installed already. Is there anything I should download or is the ROM itself enough?

If you want google apps....you'll need a set of gapps....other than that, I believe the last build (Illusion is no longer being supported, Dev moved on to AOSIP for the Nexus line) comes with a launcher, but just in case I would flash one you like (you'll have the opportunity to try the ROMs launcher if I am correct...sorry...it's been a while) - NOTE: certain gapps packages come with GNL, so if you just flash that particular gapps pack, you should be G2G
Let me know if you have any other questions. Illusion is by far the fastest, most fluid, stable ROM available for the d851.
