whats the most stable JB ROM?

hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?

ok i understand. but i guess the main things im lacking on stock is percent battery, ability to alter the navigation bar at the bottom, adding shortcuts to the lock screen slider, and themes.
is there any way to do that on stock? if not any other rams as clock to stable as stock

BAMF has been great. Not a ton of updates as there aren't any issues.

ok, what the heck is BAMF i searched that in the android development and dont know what rom your talkign about

Bugless Beast, 9-27 has to new binaries and is JRO03R.

Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

I'm using AndroidME with Stock Google Kernel, works perfect, stable, actually it's a stock rom with improvements. The only thing missing for me is T9 Dialer, but no problem to install MOD for it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then

stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.

another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

all roms do.. that's why you have custom recoveries.. i strongly suggest you read efrants stickies before you flash anything.

Yeah, you should read up on some stuff before continuing anything Rom related. Just look for stickied topics, read them, and you will have way less questions left.

are you sure? becuase when i was running CM9 RC2 on my old captivate, then the CM9 stable came out. I kept checking for updates in the settings and it kept saying my software was upto date. I had to download the new file and flash it again in clockwork mod.

[Q] Considering rooting/flashing a ROM

Hey all so I'm fairly new to this whole world of rooting and flashing custom ROMs (although I know how to) and I had just a couple of questions. I was thinking of flashing CM10.1 but I'm unsure of which to flash, should I just flash the most recent snapshot or the most recent stable version(10.0)? Is it more experienced people who typically flash the nightlies? I tried posting on the CM forums but they are incredibly slow.
Also, I know that there is no "best" ROM but I would like to know: what ROM are you on? Why did you choose it?

Personally I need my ROMs to be pretty stable for work, so I won't go with nightlies because they can vary in reliability somewhat.
I had avoided CM10.1 based roms for a while because I was worried about stability. My first couple of attempts didn't go so well. Lately though I've found that most all of the 10.1 based ROMs have been pretty solid and just vary in features and looks more than anything.
After using various stock ROMs (all freeza's), I switched over to LiquidSmooth for a while. When Carbon split off I followed that thread for a little while, but the last release just didn't work that great for me and I switched back to LiquidSmooth. I've found it rock solid stable, excellent battery life, and all of the AOSP features I need.
I think you'll find an extremely wide array of opinions on the ROMs. Everyone likes different ROMs for different reasons. It took me a solid day of flashing various ROMs when I first started out, so take your time and try everything that looks interesting. There are some amazing developers around here!

No, not necessarily. The trick though is that you can never be certain where your issues may be coming from if you don't do a clean flash (wiping everything). You'd be amazed at how many completely unexplainable little nagging bugs show after a few consecutive dirty flashes. So by dirty flashing a lot of the time you don't know if the latest version has bugs or if the dirty flash is causing little issues so you've essentially added another layer of troubleshooting difficulties to the issue. You'll also find that 99% of the time if you haven't done a clean flash the devs will tell you to do a clean before you try anything else when reporting a bug. That kind of says something.

Support the developer if you can afford it, if not the free version has the main features you'll need.

Oh I plan on it I love supporting open source developers, means more for everyone!

Wipe data/cache/dalvick for a clean install. Possibly even internal sometimes. Just make sure whatever you are flashing is on the external card, such as your ROM and GAPPS.

Oh thanks for the tip and do I have to wipe them in that order? I feel like it's always listed that way for a reason
Also what ROM are you on and why did you choose it?

I would HIGHLY recommend to you Liquid Smooth RC2. Its blazing fast, amazing battery life, loads of customizations, Android 4.2.2 and it is based off of CM10. Just try it out and you'll never flash another ROM!

Once you start flashing, you'll probably never want to stop.
I might suggest going with a pure CM 10.1 to get an idea of things. Then go to one of the 4.2.2 ROMs based on 10.1 so you can get a gauge of the differences. Right now though my vote is LiquidSmooth for the ROM.

I have another question, do I have to flash my gapps RIGHT after the rom? or can I just do the rom and all other apps after I reboot and see what I have
And do you recommend using goo manager? It looks nice but I feel like doing it myself with adb is a lot safer

I use TWRP which allows me to queue up multiple zips to flash in one go. So I do the ROM and gapps.
Never took the ADB route for the S3, but that's just laziness. I used this to root and install the recovery. Then I just put the ROM and gapps on the SDCard and started flashing.

I've had my Galaxy Nexus for about a year and have just been running stock Android. I would like to try installing a custom ROM on my phone.
I am planning on using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit program to unlock and root my phone.
Now, to my question. There are so many ROM's available that I feel overwhelmed when trying to choose which one to use. My only requirements in a ROM is that it has to be stable and give good battery life. Can someone recommend a good one for me to try?

Its hard to anwer it because everyone has its preference since every device acts differently with certain ROM. For example, I use OmniMetal and Im pretty satisfied how it works. You should try few ROMs and find which one suits you best. Read some topics, decide which options you need, and which you dont, which Android version you prefer... Maybe you should start with some standard ROMs such as CM, AOKP, AOSPA...
As I alread said, its question that is hard to answer, and its also disrespectful to every dev since they are all doing it for free

I'm a guy like you who don't want the hassle of updating the rom every week or so. I moved to cm11 from stock 4.3 rom. But flashing a new nightly every other day to be up to date is not my thing. I do follow forums regularly but don't not a flash-a-holic. I know cm11 is very stable and i can stay on a milestone release. But knowing that an update is a available is available makes my hands itchy to flash it. Suddenly shiny rom 4.4 appeared on our threads. It's close to stock. Just like how stock 4.3. Been running shiny from a month. No issues as of now. Paired shiny rom 4.4 with dirtyv and my phone is smooth.
If you are looking for a stable rom like stock 4.3. I'd recommend you shiny rom.
If you want a fully optimised featured rom, go with cm, omni, liquid smooth, vanirs, pa etc. Let me tell you. Every 4.4 rom out there is smooth and stable. But flashing roms every week to be on latest is not my thing. So i settled with shiny 4.4.

Thanks! I will give Shiny ROM a try.

I mean, anything that says STABLE on the thread title or thread will let you know. SlimKat is stable and it works great.

Once you decide on which ROM to run I highly recommend installing gravitybox using Xposed Installer, which will give you just about every customization/feature/option that's available on most custom ROM builds.

Seriously almost evrry rom is stable. I cant think of one that isnt..

If you want stable kitkat on your gnex just flash latest cm 11 nightlie otherwise just use stock jb 4.3 with xposed installer an gravity box module for extra customization.Forget about every other custom rom because cm is the godfather of roms an usually way ahead in development.

Can't say anything against that, only custom rom I've tried and I see no reason to change it. The nightlies get updated OTA wich is smooth as silk.

Like others have said, if you are looking for a ROM with a few more customization features than stock, CM11 nightlies are pretty stable. I'd recommend starting with that and see how your device responds. I had been on the omni based ROMs for a while but I just tried the new Paranoid Android Beta 6 ROM by sd3993 and it is running so smooth. Almost all other ROMs I tried had slight issues like the music stuttering when I turned on/off my screen, which I haven't seen on this ROM. I have yet to see how battery life fares, but it is performing spectacularly in terms of smoothness. Once you have found a ROM that is to your liking, then maybe research flashing some kernels and start unlocking some true power on your device. Good luck in your search!

gravitybox doesn't have custom animations right? i quite like that in OmniROM..

I'm using parandoid android, it's still on beta, but for me is the best, very smooth, and stable

I'd recommend CyanFox. Its stable, good amount of customizations and feels quite snappy on my nexus. Also, gapps are integrated...

I'm using omnimetal rom. It's smooth and have a special feature--multi-window. The rom is also stable, no reboot or any serious problem.

if you debloated and make knox-free, stock rom will have good battery life, better camera, and samsung framework features (things you lost in custom rom)
if you want to try a custom rom, i recommend you try Mokee (stable) with last Fak Kernel, mokee has an amazing saving power feature and is the more stable rom (in my opinion), with fak kernel with right settings and undervolt (see in fak thread, or pm me) you will get the best battery life, my goals are the same as yours (battery life), and i already try almost every rom here (right now iam trying LiquidSmooth, but i did not like it...will try next the S5 proyect, and wait for official 4.4.4 to test, but until now, mokee is my prefered rom

I'am using last version, get some random reboots (i think its because of fak kernel and undervolt...) i miss some launcher options like mokee have (i know i can change launcher...) i found the rom a little confusing, the way the settings are in config options, and there are too much thinks i dont use and dont like like (side app bar, pie control...etc) .
The rom is good, its just my PERSONAL taste, i like it clean,iam a big fan of mokee, and stock rom, just go to a custom rom for 4.4.4 and better battery like i like i say, just waiting for official 4.4.4 - the quality of camera we loss in custom rom its a big point for me to go back when its released

Hi guys, first of all let me apologize up front for posting this question without knowing whether it has been answered billion times before. It's my first Samsung phone after having Motorola for a long time and the transition to the new apps and vocabulary is not that straightforward.
I've got an I-9190 running 4.2.2 from a carrier and they still haven't upgraded to 4.4. But when I entered to the website above, there's a 4.4.2 firmware for my country and my device. The upgrade seems rather easy, but I'm not sure whether it will run or not. I would really like to upgrade to 4.4.2 and I'm quite confident I'd be able to do it using Odin, but my question is if that firmware could run on my device. Any tips are welcome.

Most stable, AOSP based, and newest ROM for One X

Hi guys,
I have a One X international that I'm reviving and playing with. It has the latest Sense firmware with 4.2.2, and I have installed TWRP 3.0.2, rooted it, and installed Xposed framework. I'm looking to flash a ROM that's stable, retains all the features, is AOSP based, and is newer than 4.2.2. So far I've seen many 4.2.2 ROMs, and I've also seen CM12 which is Lollipop based, but seems to be missing quite a few features. Are there any ROMs that fulfil my criteria?

The one x never had good battery life. It was a pure flop. Anyway its not much better than any other roms. But yet slightly better than cm based roms. Cm based rom has a history of draining the one x.
Before I get started I want to say I have a brand new battery in the phone. If your battery has aged these numbers are probably a bit optimistic.
With gsm radio on I get about 2 and a half days of battery life. Three days of deep sleep time if it lays on the table.
With gsm radio off but wifi on. Which I currently uses mine for. I get a week of battery life in deep sleep if it lays on the table.
But I turn mine off when Im done. The nice thing about this is that I charge my phone only about once a month.
Screen on time...dunno. I can't remember the last time i checked this.

This is new for android. A different way of partitioning the internal storage was introduced not long ago. Older devices that don´t have this partition table needs to be modified in order to work with newer roms.
Not going to far into details the thing you need to do is to flash the latest twrp. And go to wipe>wipe data. And type "yes". And you´re done with that.
Once you done this and rebooted the phone. You can flash roms as you would normaly do.

I've been running crDroid 5.1.1 on the old hox, and apart from some random reboots it works. Development ended long time ago, so there are surely better roms.
I'll be hanging round and waiting for the Android 7.1.1 Rom for this beautiful device.
