I was able to have three people get the Pulse working and the pedometer is counting although not as accurate as a regular step counter.
Just got the spO2 working also, read a 96%
My sp02 Meter didn't read until today. ()
My bpm is working, has been since I got it in the mail yesterday. BUT it is notably finicky.
And the same goes for the sp02 reader.
I haven't been able to get an accurate read from anything with my Spigen btw.
*I haven't looked for any updates( waiting4root), but I suspect most of the issues are software related
Hope this helps!
good call on the spigen case.
I took mine off and now the bpm works well. The O2 sensor is still finicky but at least gets a reading. My S5 with the same case worked though so this is disappointing.
I have tried taking my case off, still no go. Everything else seems to work, not sure on the accuracy. Have tried holding in different positions, just wondered if you have to hold a specific way. I hold it with the phone resting on the finger line the heart & stress text, go keeps returning back to screen to retest. Thx for the post.
[emoji53]
Mine seems to work if you are still and only lightly touching the sensor. Not only that but I used just the tip of my finger. I don't have a problem with it reading anything with the case on. Although the display model in the store seemed touchy.
Thx, calling support to see what they suggest. I even got a big magnifying to look at the led to see if I missed taking the plastic off like on the camera, it was hard to see. So no plastic was on my led at all, bummer, need everything working if I sell for the DE, still thinking on this some more.
**called verizon again, spent about 3 hours today on the phone with 4 different people from verizon the. Sent me to Samsung and after doing what I have already done.
* clear cache
* clear data
* roll back updates
* factory reset
Was told I need to take in to Verizon for replacement.
Ended up after new replacement Note 4 was sent everything works great!
finger placement
hi guys try changing your finger placement for the SP02 and heart rate sensor to work. My sensors will only work with fingers placed as illustrated. The image on the left is placement for heart rate and the image on the right is for the Spo2. Hope this helps .
It's more to do with the right amount of pressure than the exact spot it seems. I find that the weight of the phone on your finger tip is the perfect amount of pressure for the sensor. I can get a reading every time without any issues.

I purchased,

case for my SG-N8010 and everything seemed to be fine until i noticed a S-Pen disorientation near the area where the magnet was. However, using my finger seemed perfectly fine. At first I thought it would be some software issue since I upgraded it to 4.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925720) but after hours of searching the net for a possible solution I gave up. So a buddy of mine wanted to see it out of its case today and I noticed that the s pen was working perfectly when he was playing with it. I did try this later on and figured out that the problem did reside in the magnets being in my case.
SO voila! If you buy a magnetic case and face a s pen disorientation problem, just get another non magnetic case as it is frustrating at times when you are at lectures and constantly have to avoid a certain part of the screen to write on.
Please note I am no expert in Android, Im just the typical person who can install roms/kernals/multiwindow apps etc.
This problem may not affect you but it did on my SG-N8010.

I figure this out back in the days of the g1 I actually returned 2 of them because the compass got all screwy. Since then I avoid magnets near my electronics like the plague.

I too had this concern when buying a case. Ive had the official bookcover case for about 2 months now and every once in a while the s-pen will require extra force to register. This only happens above the magnets and with the case on. Once i take the case off and put it back on, everything is fine. It doesn't happen enough to bother me. Hopefully it isnt a huge issue.
With my regular Wacom tablets (same technology), I have this issue if I sit my laptop over the keyboard and I notice the CPU interferes with it...
Sometimes my phone as well will cause problems. Because there is a signal between the pen and the tablet (the tablet screen in this case), that really doesn't surprise me...
Well I have been using a case with magnet, not really a big user of SPEN but whatever little I used for did not see any issue.
Hi,
I've just check.
I write a pattern of flat line all over the screen in Quill program, and have detect two areas where the spen don't works.
I use a no original book like case.
Once released the tablet from the case, the two areas works fine.
Hey guys,
This post is going to discuss an issue I had (and solved) with the motion sensor becoming stuck in the LG G3.
(My original thought was hardware failure)
So I know there aren't a whole ton of known issues out since the G3 is still new, but I just wanted to share one that I encountered that I thought could possibly be an issue that other people encounter, mainly because of how it happened, and my previous experience with the usage of smartphones in general.
So here is what happened:
I had my G3 from the release (Verizon) on the 17th of July. I had a hard case on it (black double enclosure case) and a tempered glass screen protector. I had chosed the case because I had used the exact same case on my previous HTC Thunderbolt and HTC Rezound and found that it was reliable and incredibly durable. Obviously, the reason for buying the case was to protect the phone from the instance that we all dread when we watch our beautiful smart phones fall in slow motion and hit the ground, hoping the no harm had come to your baby. Well, unfortunately it happened much sooner than I ever expected, and I saw my phone fall from about 3 feet up. Now, fortunately the fall wasn't very high at all, and in the past I had experienced my phones taking much stronger of a beating (rarely, but it happens nonetheless. I take excellent care of my electronics in general). I picked up the phone and examined it, and to no surprise everything seemed just fine so I thought nothing of it. Now after some time, I noticed that my screen wouldn't auto-rotate and I was a little confused at first. I thought it was hardware failure and I was a little concerned about the quality of the G3 at first, and I thought of the drop, but was just too far beyond the idea that such a small impact would completely break the motion sensing capabilities. After calling and troubleshooting at much as I could, I decided I was going to have to send my phone in the be repaired (at my F***ing expense...). Before going through the process, however, I had to give something one more try. I downloaded a ball-falling game to see what would happen with the motion sensing in the game. I opened it up and saw that instantly the ball would fall straight to the right of the screen. I looked, and thought back to how I saw my phone fall (very vivid in my mind, almost scaring trust me). It had hit the right side most definitely.
So here is the cool part. I thought, there is no way that the motion sensor became "stuck" because of a fall of that caliber. Or at all, I didn't really even think that it was possible for such a thing to happen lol. But I gave it a shot, and enclosed my phone in its case to make sure it would take as little damage as possible, but I went ahead and dropped the phone on its left side. I only dropped it from about a foot to be safe, but sure enough, I tried the game again and it worked perfectly. So that was my solution.
Basically to sum all this up, my motion sensor got stuck, and I had to jar the phone enough to knock it loose again (or at least that is how I understand it. The hardware might work in a different way, but this still worked).
I just wanted to post this story here just in case we find out that the G3 happens to have a tempermental motion sensing hardware device.
So if you have this issue, give it a try.
Dude, OMG, thank you so much!!! It helped! A few hours ago i dropped my g3 (also in a case) in my room on a carpet. it bounced and hit my bed's metal frame just a little bit. Later i realized screen won't rotate. l never thought it was because of that fall (damn it!). After reading this post, all i did was knocking one of the phone's corners against same metal frame ??. For others: hit each corner lightly against a table untill you see screen rotating. Phone should be in a case.
P.S. i hope will not see any promlems, because i really love my new G3!
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what the [email protected]#$
Thanks! Wish I would have found this an hour ago!

Also, to anyone scanning this page instead of reading full story...
Bang on the phone to fix, accelerometer is physically stuck
Then thank TyWillems19
This is crazy but briliant!!
I dropped mine the other day and noticed that rotation wasnt working.
I donloaded the sensor tests and saw that my accelerometer Yaxis was stuck.
So after reading my post i decided to try it. I banged my phone a few time on top and a few times on the bottom(because it was the yaxis)
And to my shock the accelerometer got unstuck.
Brilliant post guys thanks a lot!!
Wow. Ive had this phone for 5 days and this just happened to me. Guess the hardware is pretty low quality for this to happen. Guess this won't be the last time this happens if it happened so quickly. Thank you so much for this solution.
The final solution!!!
Just great! It worked! Mine was stuck also and tried with the "Accelerometer test" and the litle ball was dropping down the screen and stayed there..... after knocking a few times the phone on the table with every corner (with the hard case on), it started working again!!! Try gently at first and try harder, until it works. Better a bad accelerometer than a broken display or entire phone... xD
Thank you very much.
P.D. : DON'T forget to recalibrate the screen in "General" -> "Smart functions" -> "Movement" on a perfect plane and steady surface!!! I have my phone in spanish and I just translated the menu, but I bet you'll find the option.
En español busca en "General" -> "Funciones inteligentes" -> "Movimiento".
ESPECIALLY if you calibrated before with the malfunctioning Motion Sensor.
My phone motion sensor also stucked which worked fine after restart
But its a temperory solution can anyone tell me the permanent solution of this problem
This fixed mine too!
Banging the phone on each side against a table got my accelerometer un-stuck!
Didn't have to hit it very hard either...
Thanks for the post! Awesome!
Hi, I've searched this forum and the Internet in general about proximity sensor problems but it seems like basically every problem that someone else had was fixed by removing tempered glass/screen protectors/cases/covers. I'm having a proximity sensor issue and I'm not using any screen protector or case.
This has happened twice now. Once when I was listening to visual voicemail, once when I was making a call. The screen goes dark and will not respond to any wake commands. Every now and then it will turn on for half a second when I hit the power button but then turns back off again. The first time when I was listening to visual voicemail, I had to hard restart the phone by holding volume up and power. The second time during the call, I managed to hang up the call in the half second the screen came back on, which ended the problem.
Right after that, I tested the proximity sensor using the SMMI test (calculator .12345+=). The test makes you put your hand near the sensor, then away, then near again. During the test, the phone immediately sensed my hand near the sensor except that my hand was nowhere near the sensor and there was nothing else near the sensor either.
I did a reboot and ran the test again. This time, the test finished correctly. The phone did not detect my hand until I actually put it near the sensor.
I'm running stock everything except I do have root(ZE551ML). I'm leaning towards this being a hardware problem and I've only had the phone for a week so I'm well within my replace period with Amazon. Is there a solution to this I'm missing or should I just replace? I'm a firm believer in troubleshooting first. Plus, setting up the phone the way I like again will be a huge PITA.
Thanks.
I would replace. It does sound like a hardware issue, and your better off getting a replacement instead of a possible pain for the life of your phone.
I get the same, and the flickering screen happened once to me after I I have just put a tempered glas protector on it ... removed it and so far no problems, but who knows.
I think the SMMI test works correctly the first time you start it, and incorrectly the 2nd, 3rd etc ... dont think it is a hardware error ...
Hi all, i have a zen2 with this same problem, i think doing sensor calibration can resolve the issue... but i can´t found how to do, by code, or by app...
Any body know how to do calibration of sensor aproximty?
Thanks in advanced!
Ps. I dont have screen os glass protector...
i don't having tempered glass or any screen protector. my proximity sensor is not working. Even i checked .12345+= but it gives error in proximity sensor. what to do? plz anyone?
same problem
Hi to everyone,
I have the same problem with the proximity sensor.
After a device reboot, the simmi test work correctly, but after some hours the test fails.
Someone know as I can calibrate the sensor ??
Thanks
I just fixed mine, cause I was having that issue for a LONG time now.
I actually just stuck a piece of paper in front of the light sensor part of the sensor window on the screen. It's the right side of the sensor window.
To be more clear, a while back my screen broke, so I ordered a screen online and changed it. Ever since then my prox. sensor didn't work, so I couldn't use the keypad during calls (the screen would go black).
My screen still isn't attached properly, so it's just being held in by the floppy protective case I have on it right now. This allowed me to pull the screen away from the phone a bit and slide a piece of paper behind it right in front of the light sensor. As soon as I blocked the light sensor then the proximity sensor started reading properly.
I got the idea because I was trying to clean the screen, thinking that it might just be dust blocking it or something. That didn't help, so I tried cleaning the sensor, but had the calibration test running at the time, and it instantly worked!
So I kept playing around with it and noticed that every time I blocked the right side of the sensor, it worked, but as soon as I removed the brush I was using to clean, it stopped working.
I stuck a piece of paper in, and BOOM, worked just fine.
People might want to build on this and maybe try sticking a piece of tape over the right part of the sensor. I haven't tried it, and since I finally have it working now, I really don't want to play with it too much and mess it up.
Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.
Hi all,
I am using zenfone 2 laser z550kl. Screen blackout during call and did not come up till the call is cut. I changed only the cover of proximity sensor and phone is working fine. Change the small rubber covering of sensor and it will work.
Hope this will help all if still using asus phone.
Forget all the "you need to not press hard" bull****, it's way simpler than that.
Register your finger while holding the phone in one hand, position your fingerprint on the sensor exactly as you would casually, keep registering it that way, from a limited position on a one handed held.
If you do a "proper" registering process of your fingers from artificial positions just because you think it helps the sensor, it won't work, even minimal changes in your finger shape will make it generate different keys that will not match a real life press.
I registered my fingers from positions I would practically use to unlock later on, the success rate is now 100% as long as I don't miss the sensor on dark screen, no matter the pressure or the time you hold your finger on the sensor, it will now work every single time

I tend to agree with you. I registered both right and left thumbs and they both work on command. No 2nd or 3rd attempts yet. Just register the thumbs like you would naturally hold them on the screen(flat).
I also feel like the fingerprint scanner icon is a bit misleading, given the fact that the sensorbis actually above the actual icon

But when I try to casually tap the screen to register fingerprint naturally, it won't register, keeps saying press harder or hold longer
Or register the same finger twice.. That's the better solution

The tap needs a certain amount of pressure, not too light either

Same, and i registered the finger I'm going to be using most twice. Registered casually and from a natural position. I think mine has failed to unlock maybe 3 times in a week. In this case...keep it simple don't over think it.
Sensor is off
I noticed when the screen is off in dark mode and u take a flashlight on a angle of the screen i noticed the sensor is like a U shape just slighty to the left of the finger print icon, now that i kinda setup my finger print just a tat left og the finger print icon its been 100 procent i also noticed moist fingers work better . i could be wrong about it being a sensor but the U shape i think would be the sensor

You don't need to move your finger away, the sensing part of the sensor is perfectly aligned in the middle
New update on firmware.Science for snapdragon. SBA TO SD3. Made a world of difference for me. Can't wait for my replacement Whitestone to get here to see if sensor works any better with tempered glass. This update absolutely made a huge difference. Not slightly, very significant change for me. I register both thumbs twice and I couldn't get it to not unlock every time. 50+ unlocks and maybe 2 failures. I stopped counting at 50.
Will it work on verizon or only unlocked?

I'm waiting on my Whitestone replacement as well. Can you keep us informed on how the sensor works with your new install? I had to pull the last one. It was horrible. I miss my glass...
The problem for me and many people is that when the finger being scanned is dry, scanning won't work (and will be asked to "press harder"). Some people then try to press really hard and it will, forever, say "not match".
People with moisted fingers will not have this problem and will not understand the kind of people I mentioned above. Since I have S10+ for a month, I, kind of, know when the scanning will not work. I will use face scanning instead or if I really want to scan my finger with whatever reason, I just rub my nose with my thumb then it will 100% work (greasy nose does the trick).
I don't know if Samsung can ever fix this since it is not how accurate the reader is.
Dry fingers don't work with the fps even when removing the pre-installed screen protector?
I am debating to remove the screen protector and my main points are:
1. The protection offered by the pre installed screen protector is minimal either way.
2. That the screen colors and usage will become much better.
3. That the fps will work much better even with dry fingers due to the oleophovic coat of the screen.
Has anyone who removed the screen protector tested this?

I removed mine yesterday and it does help a little with the fps. I still don't like the fps though, I would much rather have a Face ID equivalent. Or have the fps on the back.

I had reached out to Whitestone because my first install failed. I had the WSD on my s9+ and went through 5 or 6 in the year (I dropped my phone a lot). So I knew what I was doing, but the first try had a huge bubble. Tried doing the cleaning and reinstall with the backup glue and had a bunch of microscopic bubbles in the top and bottom (guessing I didn't clean it well enough before reinstall). I wasn't sure how to register warrenty wise because technically it worked fine, just was having FPS issues. They ended up replacing without me paying for the shipping which was awesome of them.
Recieved my replacement today, and the install is flawless. One thing to note is on the 10+ the absorb pads hook into the top tray not the bottom (that was a hell of a mess the first time). The original kit didn't come with the pads pre-installed like the replacement kit.
I haven't even gotten the latest OTA yet, and with the WSD glass, it's just as quick and success rate is the same as when I had the pre-installed protector. Might even be faster than my s9+ was...
Got the phone few days ago. Most of the time, fingerprint works on first or second attempts. But now and then it takes 4-5 attempts. and on two occasions i had to try 8-9 times to get it to work. Is it a problem only i am facing or its a common problem? i already updated phone after buying. should i get it replaced or it will be ok with next update
Thanks.
common problem i think. not as fast as the previous one on N9
Well, it is not widespread or "common", some users complain about this, but this issue has been discussed at lenght since the first days of this device, do a search, you will find some useful tips, My sensor is very fast and accurate, I think it depends on several factors, temp, moisture, the way you registered the fingers, screen protectors, etc
Also, register the same finger multiple times... I believe you can add 5 fingerprints....
I understand what you are talking about. I was so frustrated with the phone when I first got it. I deleted all my finger prints and then set them up again. Make sure to slowly follow the fingerprint instructions when adding. I added multiple fingers and some more than once. I have not had any issues since. I have also read some people say remove the factory screen protector. I still have mine on with no issues. Good luck!

did you have the same issue as mine? like u had to make several attempts and sometimes even 8-9 times to make it work?
only time I've had problems with mine is when my hands have been extremely dry, putting slight moisture on my finger can make it scan better, but for the most part it works perfect unless I'm somewhere hot and dry.
I have similar issues when I have a screen protector on the phone. Sometimes I have to press multiple times, sometimes I have to press harder. Finally going without anything on the screen and the sensor works like a charm.
Screen touch sensitivity.
On my Note 10+ 5G (SM-N976U) I have a setting on the Display page (scroll down near the bottom) that increases touch sensitivity specifically for use with screen protectors. The screen itself is Gorilla Glass 6, which is twice as strong as Gorilla Glass 5, so, if you are the careful sort, you can get by without a glass protector. Even with an extra curved glass protector, with touch sensitivity turned up, I can use light gloves & still the capacitance works fine.
Touch sensitivity has nothing to do with the fingerprint sensor.
Mine works perfect with screen protector. Sure if you put new screen peotector, it takes time to recognise finger. But when protector sits perfect than no prob at all.

the sensor works well as long as you don't have dry hands, lick your finger/thumb and it will work every time, sad but true. it's something I realise after it working flawlessly while drinking in a beer garden with condensed glasses but the rest of the time it was hit and miss. seems if your skin is too dry it doesn't read well, but add a bit moisture and it works perfectly. guess it has something to do with the technology in the new sensor using vibration instead of imaging.

Yes, lick your finger everytime you want it to work in the midst of a pandemic that seems to be spread by the virus getting transmitted from the hands to the face everytime you touch it...
You can also try this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/themes/fingerprint-speed-hack-t4071893
