[Q] M8 and M8 dual-SIM ... size, dimensions same? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
stupid questions... got my M8 dual-SIM today and looking for some accessories. I do not have normal M8 to compare, so I am curious if dimensions are same?
Thanks

everything is the same , the only difference is in the software ( no custom roms , atleast for now) ) , and slower updates

Great.. this means I can order accessories for M8 from eBay
I don't mind lack of custom ROM's.. I tend to stick to original ones.

[q] What version of M8 is it?

I just bought such a strange version of ONE M8 with original CID from Vodaphone - orginally S-OFF
http://img05.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal/44/52/93/51/4452935101_1
http://allegro.pl/htc-one-m8-i4452935101.html
Differencies are:
1. No second back camera
2. "Plastic" back
3, Black
From the other hand every costom rom work perfectly on this model (i tried Viper and InsertCoin)
Do someone know what M8 is it?

That is ULTRA wierd!!!! i would love to know what that is!!! especially how m8 custom roms are working on it!!
Roms work Great. Cpu-z and Other programs show one m8 hardware with snapdragon 801.
Never seen it
That phone doesn't exist officially. That camera is different, obviously missing the second camera for depth, the back looks like soft plastic instead of metal.. Only thing I can figure is its an early test sample from before HTC decided what they were going to do with it.. Thats about all I got.
The front looks metal and the back is plastic
Yes, front is metal, back is similar to one x +.
Is there are any good Soft to test if there are any hardware differencies? All what I founded tell me that just m8 with single back camera. Maybe I got OIS? ?

Quite a few have asked this on here lately...
Basically, if I were in your shoes I'd just go for it and get the G3! The phone is just awesome.
Development is not really happening just yet due to the locked bootloader on mostly all variants except TMobile. Our kicka$$ devs have eluded to the fact that they WILL be able to unlock or exploit the bootloader, it's just a matter of time.
I came from an S4 that had a very active Dev scene with many Roms and a few custom kernels to choose from, and even though currently I don't have those things with the G3..... I'm still super happy with this phone.
- Tapatalked from the G3
Same here... If I were you, I would go for it...
My choices before buying this phone were Z2, M8, and Find7... but G3 came out and that's it... =)

Why are you getting rid of the M8? How's the battery life?
The only thing I think that would be better is the G3 with Cat 6 And the Snap 805 lol no idea if Verizon will offer that though

I swapped my M8 for the G3 and I have not looked back, dont worry; they are both great phones. Just felt the need to move on
I made that switch and bought a G3 as my daily user. However, I actually think the M8 is an "overall" better phone. I got the G3 because I do take quite a lot of photos when I travel and the resolution just isn't good enough...the quality of the photos of the M8 are decent but the G3 is definitely better in good light. If photo quality and size isn't that important to you, I personally would NOT make the change. Even though I have the 805 chip Korean variant of the G3, I can say 100% the M8 is smoother and quicker in every aspect. The G3 is no slouch, but the M8 is awesome...smoothest Android phone out there in my opinion.
I'm not saying the G3 is a bad phone...I love it and I'm using it over my M8, but the only reason is because of the camera. just make sure there's a good reason for you to want to change. Good luck on your decision and let us know if you do switch what you think of the G3!

Same as me.
Having had both, I'd much prefer the G3 over the M8 for screen size and camera quality as those are important to me - but you should know that you'll have to put up with a slight compromise in terms of performance/smoothness and battery life.
That's what my experience has been, anyway. YMMV.

I certainly liked the M8, very much so in fact. But I loved the look of the G3 and the screen. Used both over a couple of weeks and decided to stick with the G3.
I think it all came down to the look and feel of the device. The M8 is beautiful, quality built and has all the features.. I just felt it was maybe missing something. So jumped to the G3
Like a few others on here, I have both phones. I love the M8. It's the most fluid phone I've ever experienced, and there are so many modification options out there. The G3 is laggy, and doesn't seem like much progress has been made with the developer community so far. All that being said, I can't bring myself to stop using my G3. If anything, try it out for a week and see how you like it.
I have both G3 & M8, they are both great phones & both have the + & - points.
You'll be happy whichever you choose.
Biggest +'s for each phone for me -
M8 - Speakers, they are very good.
G3 - Wireless Charging, Oh how pleasant it is to wireless charge. No faffing about with cables :good::good::good:
Enjoy whichever you use
You guys with both an M8 an G3 which do you like better.... Sense or LG's somewhat close to stock Android??
Coming from Sammy and Moto phones they're both pretty cool IMO. My girls One Max is very cool and after playing with that I'm sure having an HTC phone as a DD wouldn't be bad at all...

M8 far from smoothest phone sorry
i did the same move. the m8 was the smoothest phone i ever had but the lack of screen for such a big phone was such a waste to me. both phones are awesome though. honestly if the m8 had a back speaker with a bigger screen it would have been a perfect phone for me.5.5 inch screen is perfect
---------- Post added at 08:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:42 AM ----------
speaker wise once you root the g3 and but viper on it the sound is surprisingly very loud and clear

[Q] Worth buying it?

Hello,
I have two questions: 1. Is it worth to buy the HTC Desire 816 für around 270€ or could you recommend a better smartphone? (could be up to 300€) 2. Does this one has a heating problem?
Sorry for my english
MrDeadGamer
Overheats a little bit when viewing videos or video chatting. The only other two devices I'd recommend roughly in this price range are the Nexus 5 and the Oneplus one. The 816 is an exceptional device, though.
But the Nexus 5 costs more than 300€?
The Desire 816 is the best phone in it's price range undoubtedly in my opinion. Especially with the awesome HTC features like Boomsound and the amazing cameras.

816 is a good phone and I haven't ever experienced any heating problems with it, but the price is different in each region and for each vendor so you should specify your country and store. as an example, you should take a look at a newer model called Desire 820 which is more advanced than 816
I will buy tge OnePlus One but thanks to all

[Q] HTC M8 or HTC M8s???

Hi,
I've signed up to a new phone contract with a HTC One M8 Gold colour as the handset.
However, I was sent the HTC M8s instead.
I call my provider and they said they will replace the M8s with the M8.
But I've had a look at some reviews online and I'm not sure which is better, the M8 or the M8s?
The M8s had a octa-core chip but at a slower speed and the cpu is 64 bit. The M8 is quad-core 32 bit but the speed is faster.
Battery capacity is a bit better on the M8s but no one seems to be sure if these "advantages" in spec work out to better performance on the M8s in real life.
Also, the M8s is priced at a mid-range phone whereas the M8 is still priced as the flagship price range.
So could anyone offer me some advice on which one to keep, the M8 or the newer M8s???
Thanks,
Shuja
Keep the M8 - it's better
It's an older flagship, so it has better support here
Also s615 is worse than s801

Thanks. I'm leaning towards the M8 so your comment just backs that up.
Anyone think the M8s is worth keeping ahead of the M8? Let me know your views please.

M8... Yesterday i bought an m8s, no root, no Custom rom, no support... So M8!!!

Htc m8 or m9?

I own an Amazon fire phone, im old user of cyanogen mod on all my past phones (moto defy, moto g, moto g 2014) and im in love with front facing speakers (big media consumption) also i play alot games on my phone and casualy taking some photos (big fan of filters tho)
I cant decide witch phone should i buy between these two beauty's. Im planing on instaling google play edition software on m8 if i get too many cons from m9, im concern about the overheating situation and throttling.
Can someone replay a screanshoot with antutu or gheekbench score from the m9? Im curious about IT
Also i have another question, i Heard about 6.0 add a Nice function for the micro sd to make IT as internal memory, is IT true? Thank you for your time!

Here's a capture from a Geekbench 3 test I just did on my M9.
I have both an M8 and an M9 and I would say that the Snapdragon 801 in the M8 gets much hotter than the 810 in the M9. I don't find that my M9 gets particularly hot at all, compared to the Snapdragon 801-based phones like the One M8/Galaxy S5/LG G3 (all of which I have on my desk at home). Besides, a throttled M9 is probably still as fast as a full-speed M8.
Yes, Android 6.0 on the M8 and M9 allows you to format your MicroSD as adoptable storage, which treats internal and MicroSD memory as a single large pool.

M9 all day. M8 was great. M9, despite the bad rap it got in reviews and other online discussions, is better. I've had both and was pleased with both. M8 on a good custom rom probably has better battery life, though.
Im glad people enjoy this phone and gives me Hope for a brighter future, i see a smal gap between these two devices, im still undecided because all the pro features from the both sides, maybe money will Be the Most important factor for my choise.the m8 is starting from 250€ and the m9 400€

Well...is that's the price difference, I'd be tempted to go with the 8
I owned the m8 and sold it cause I was low on cash. Later on I made a trade for an m9 since I missed the m8 so much. I have only had the m9 for a week so far but I have no complaints other than I noticed an echo on my one voice call I've made so far. Never had that on the m8 but could have been just a single incident. It's slightly faster than the m8. No overheating so far. The battery is about the same as the m8. For 250 vs 400 I'd probably pick the m8.
