Hi,would like to update software to 10L using PC Suite which will unroot my phone.
Understand that it is a simple procedure to reroot again using purpledrake.
My qn is,after PC Suite has updated my phone, how abt the current settings that I have(modded statusbar and nav bar)? Will it be gone or still stay even though I am unrooted?

For those mods to work you need root right? If you don't have root how are they supposed to work? Backup app and data and after root just bring them back ??
Hi,thx for reply.
what i meant was for eg. I have colored navbar. After updating thru PC Suite I will lose root, will the navbar remain or returned to stock?

like if sony release updates, im not talkinga bout apps i mean official updates for xperia play x800? its rooted but i wanna make sure if i can or not dont' wanna cause a brick
Rooting won't affect updating whatsoever, unless you delete system apps. You may lose root after updating, however.
As long as your bootloader is locked, you're fine.

If system apps are deleted/frozen, what will the update do? Or will I not get the update?
I want to no the same thing iv just rooted and deleted the crappy FIFA 10 game that came with my phone will that affect updating when ics comes?? When I deleted it it said remove system app :-(

No u should be fine Is just a game
I deleted the crap apps like FIFA 10 or Office Suite or whatever, too.
And I froze Google Maps and other apps. Then I updated with PC Companion (I also had root on my play), and then the root disappeared and all the deleted apps were on my phone again. I don't have a brick now, it works fine, but I can't root it now

.62 firmware patches the Update, the only way to root now I believe is to unlock your bootloader, and updating via PC Companion is like flashing new firmware with Flash Tool, I've stuck to .42, I don't want to unlock my bootloader atm, I have once to test out an ICS rom, but in general I'm waiting for the official update to come out, You can flash .42 using Flashtool, I have absolutely no benefit updating to .62.
if i root my D850, and ONLY FREEZE apps with SuperSU, and run Rom Toolbox only for wake lock control, and SD Maid for cleaning. i should be able to still receive OTA updates easily. if my thinking is correct im not actually removing any files and both apps have buttons to easily reverse what i've done.....
Would my thinking be correct?????
Unfortunatly not. As soon as the device is rooted, you can't make OTA updates.
But you can unroot it easily by using PC Suite
oh cool, so if i do what i was thinking then un freeze and reset the wake locks then do this unroot i should be good to go for android L when it comes?
Or would it be better just to wait? i dont see LG being high on the list of fast updated, especially via att
or cant i take the update straight from PC Suite instead and just forget about OTA or will i get the same failure regardless?

strange, i am rooted with PD and can still receive OTA
either way it sounds like it may be worth it to go ahead and root. as long as i dont go too far like i did on my s4 i think i should be alright. im not really gonna change anything anyway, i just want a bit more control of what does what and when.
thanks guys.
hey,
im trying to root my f240s, but i can find "development" under settings. according to the root tutorial i have to enable the USB debugging, which is under development..
im on kitkat 4.4.2, but there are many korean apps, i would like to get rid of them and if it's possible install the newest 4.4.4 kitkat, so is it possible to install it without any problems?

What rom is it? Give a try to Towelroot V3, I just used it yesterday. It should work on stock V10x roms, I don't know about AOSPish roms, after towelroot install supersu from playstore and let it update binaries normal way.
Let me know if this works or else I can let you know the other method I know.
i used the towelroot and rooted the phone. removed a bunch of korean apps with titanium backup, but now im worried if i uninstalled something important
on the list of apps in titanium all the way down i see
imsdatadlb
imsdatadserver
imsqmisocket
crossed with a line, so is that something i should worry about?
so now i have a rooted phone with a 4.4.2 kitkat. as i understand i cant receive official updates? i will have to update the phone manually? can i update it to 4.4.4? i would only update it if it's 100% safe.. i dont want to mess something up. im happy with 4.4.2 but just want to know if i can update the phone down the line to a newer software, maybe even down the road when officially ther wont be any updates for ogp?
I just got a notification to update to v10l and i un rooted my phone and went to install and it says it failed due to a error with lg pc suite. Connect to computer dosent recognize went connected via usb. Although its only lg pc suite that dosent pick up my phone. I think its because i uninstalled lg bloatware in titanium backup. Now i dunno how to reinstall the bloatware so it updates. I dont want to have to factory reset the phone if i dont have to. Any help please
And now stumproot wont re root my phone. This is doing my head in. Cant do either things now.

Hi there,
I was wondering if i can simply use the super su apps "full unroot" option in the settings to unroot my D850 so I can receive the OTA lollipop update? I have been stock this whole time, and just rooted in order to remove some apps and to use greenify. I have never flashed a rom or flashed a recovery. I did a few tweaks such as volume mods and added xcam for the lg g3. Please let me know if this is an option, i believe i rooted using purpledrake one click method a long time ago.

Hi! I'm in South Korea and I didn't receive the Lollipop update OTA.... I connected my phone to LG PC Suite and the phone updated from there.. and I didn't have to unroot. Have you tried connecting your phone to LG PC Suite and update from there? Good luck
When on KitKat .. OTA updates always gave me that message of rooting suspected even though I used SU to fully un-root..
IMO.. Lollipop sucks.. I was on Lollipop for a few days and went back to KK after a few days..LOL.. I'd suggest wait for root on Lollipop and then update...There's no root yet for Lollipop..

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I am using Mac and I think the pc suite is different from the windows version. Guess I will have to wait and borrow someone's pc and try updating through that. Thanks!
