Can someone post where to get everything to root and maybe a "how to"?
I have chainfires files downloaded, still need usd drivers and odin???
Any other files?
And I don't want to mess up any software already on the phone.
Odin is in the Zip from Chainfire. Download the drivers from Samsung website. Or go to the Note 4 T-Mobile forum and get everything there. SEARCH!

Here's the USB drivers. I had to convert it into a zip file as I couldn't upload it as an exe.
Here's a post from the T-Mobile thread that would help you out with using Odin.

Go to the CF-Root thread, in the OP's 2nd post are very detailed step by step instructions - I would copy and paste them here but I don't know if doing that would be alright (even though they are just instructions lol).

Thanks Dave....looks like I found those drivers already and you verified I have the right ones. Thanks for the links...
Trying to learn how to root on a 5.6" screen when your use to a 27" computer screen has been challenging to say the least. Not to mention navagating with a half baked web browser.

Hi folks, don't know if this has been already asked or done...but to those who do not know about Chainfire's mobile Odin, it makes life a lot easier but our device is not supported yet.
Lets ask CF to support our device.
Here's how:
Go to Mobile Odin thread and download and install the app. Open the app after installing and it will tell you that your device is not supported and it will offer to creat a "dump". Do it, and post in the same thread and attach the dump file. You can find the dump file in your internal SD card labelled as mobileodin.txt
Thanks

Why not use Odin on PC?
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda premium
Mobile Odin makes it so that you don't have to tether your phone to your PC everytime you want to flash something.
My pc is so slow with 496 ram so why not?

You need to download the heimdall suite.
Here is the link: http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Once you downloaded it and got it working on your MAC
download CF-Auto-Root and unzip it to a new folder, the only
file you will need in it is the TAR file, put it in the same folder
as the heimdall is in and follow the instructions in the above link.
Then download CF-Auto-Root here: http://download.chainfire.eu/234/CF-...mo-sght999.zip
Good Luck!
But doesn't mobile Odin require root ??
Just checked. On stock unrooted it asks for superuser permissions and closes out. Yes you cab root with Mac but only on ICS. It doesn't work on 4.1.1

Odin.
I just did mine yesterday. I recommend you use the TWRP version for now because I had a lot of problems with the CWM file). In a nutshell:
1. download/install Odin on a windows PC (google for details)
2. read all the details in the CWM thread in the 8.0 development section but...
3. download the ODIN file in the TWRP thread in the 8.0 development section (use this file instead of the CWM-ODIN file, otherwise follow the CWM instructions)
4. if everything works correctly, your tablet reboots at the end with an "updating" prompt. When it is back up you can launch the SuperSU app to confirm it worked.

Root on T310
I used odin 3.07 on my T310 and it worked for me.
BUT I had to use the Root-SGT3-80.zip file after twrp2.60.
Have used terminal to check su. and it works.
Problems I still have are\
1. No UMS (USB Mass Storage).
2. No ADB support with win XP, Tried 1.5.18.0 Drivers. But Samsung ADB driver doesn't load
I tried updating it and it stuck in recovery. when i flash something it says cant find root. how do i fix it?
A little more detail please. Did you root then try OTA update?
You might try flashing stock image, then flash value package using LGFlashTool. Might have to root again. You can find all these in the development section.

Follow the steps in this link to put the factory image back on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41245720
Then use the value package (update).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43541278
Then phone will be latest version.

Read the guide located here.
Once you have everything extracted (the necessary dll, the image, etc), go to the folder where you have LGFLASHTOOL extracted and delete the .dll file that is not the megalock.dll (I forget the name). That will get it to load.
Put your phone into download mode. Follow instructions in the link provided.
Hopefully this will help. Repeat to put the value package on too.

I've a new one with 4.1.2 stock and none of method here works until I see this post and got recovery-hercules-6.0.4.3.zip installed.
I might write a new guide when I am done, but this one needs to be pinned because I wasted a whole day searching and trying!
Super big thank you :good:
P.S. I used the lastest version of Kinguser from a chinese version of Universal 4.1.2 Root Tool works for me and for those only want root and stay stock.
There is already threads on rooting here. They just are way down the list, but they're there.
Rooting is quite simple and hasn't changed in awhile. Using these tools that seem to be out there can be risky or not work, from what I've seen.
Odin and the appropriate files are all that are needed. Very easy on the S2. And you will still be stock....until you flash something.

And from my experience, Odin 1.85 is still best for flashing recovery.
And for stock 4.1.2 flashing, Odin 3.04.
1.85 to flash any stock images before jelly bean.

Just want to clarify that the method works but the files or links do not. I got so used to searching the forum but should have search via google to get the required files.
P.S. The SUxx.zip you have at drop box does not flash. I noticed there are 2 new folders in it.
Strange, re-uploaded the su zip. Should be working
