Hi folks, don't know if this has been already asked or done...but to those who do not know about Chainfire's mobile Odin, it makes life a lot easier but our device is not supported yet.
Lets ask CF to support our device.
Here's how:
Go to Mobile Odin thread and download and install the app. Open the app after installing and it will tell you that your device is not supported and it will offer to creat a "dump". Do it, and post in the same thread and attach the dump file. You can find the dump file in your internal SD card labelled as mobileodin.txt
Thanks

Why not use Odin on PC?
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda premium
Mobile Odin makes it so that you don't have to tether your phone to your PC everytime you want to flash something.
My pc is so slow with 496 ram so why not?

Yes, works very well for me.
Thread here.
It doesn't "Root" ur phone
Use it on rooted phone and flash the files used to be flashed from odin on this app and keep root
yeah...you need a rooted phone.
With this, you can keep on flashing without the need of a pc.
Try it numerous time already and working fine but file need to be place in Internal SD card.
Tried to flash using external card...not working well.

Odin.
I just did mine yesterday. I recommend you use the TWRP version for now because I had a lot of problems with the CWM file). In a nutshell:
1. download/install Odin on a windows PC (google for details)
2. read all the details in the CWM thread in the 8.0 development section but...
3. download the ODIN file in the TWRP thread in the 8.0 development section (use this file instead of the CWM-ODIN file, otherwise follow the CWM instructions)
4. if everything works correctly, your tablet reboots at the end with an "updating" prompt. When it is back up you can launch the SuperSU app to confirm it worked.

Root on T310
I used odin 3.07 on my T310 and it worked for me.
BUT I had to use the Root-SGT3-80.zip file after twrp2.60.
Have used terminal to check su. and it works.
Problems I still have are\
1. No UMS (USB Mass Storage).
2. No ADB support with win XP, Tried 1.5.18.0 Drivers. But Samsung ADB driver doesn't load
Can someone post where to get everything to root and maybe a "how to"?
I have chainfires files downloaded, still need usd drivers and odin???
Any other files?
And I don't want to mess up any software already on the phone.
Odin is in the Zip from Chainfire. Download the drivers from Samsung website. Or go to the Note 4 T-Mobile forum and get everything there. SEARCH!

Here's the USB drivers. I had to convert it into a zip file as I couldn't upload it as an exe.
Here's a post from the T-Mobile thread that would help you out with using Odin.

Go to the CF-Root thread, in the OP's 2nd post are very detailed step by step instructions - I would copy and paste them here but I don't know if doing that would be alright (even though they are just instructions lol).

Thanks Dave....looks like I found those drivers already and you verified I have the right ones. Thanks for the links...
Trying to learn how to root on a 5.6" screen when your use to a 27" computer screen has been challenging to say the least. Not to mention navagating with a half baked web browser.
This is a noob friendly "portal" for the Idol X single sim edition. Most of what you find here should technically work for the dual sim phone, but I can not say for sure. You will be able to find ROMs, tutorials and other links with friendly support from other Alcatel users to help you customize this stubborn MediaTek device. To remind you, this thread will focus on the 6040A / X and NOT the 6040 D.
Before you read any further, understand that the ROMs, tools, and other downloadable content you find in this thread are not mine, therefore I can not be held accountable for what happens to your phone if you choose to install any of them. I am / we are simply relaying, and elaborating what has been learned about this phone to try and better support for this model. If you mess your phone up, remember that it was your choice to modify your phone. If you fail miserably, download the One Touch Upgrade tool from Alcatel's support website and it should return you to factory condition.
__________________________________________________________________________________
This phone is complicated for customization. I'm making this thread to gather as much information as we can to make things work for it as a collective. If you have any success stories, please post them here with how you did it please.
Before you can do anything to your phone, you're going to want to install vroot/iroot to root your phone. Below for instructions.
______________________________________________________________________
BEFORE YOU BEGIN MAKE BACK UPS and SAVE A FEW COPIES OF YOUR "modem.img" FILE. YOU WILL HAVE TO RENAME THE FILE TO "modem_1_3g_n.img" AND REPLACE THE CORRESPONDING FILE IN THE NEW ROM TO MAKE YOUR MOBILE NETWORK WORK WITH YOUR SINGLE SIM PHONE. ALSO REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE PERMISSION FOR SAID FILE TO 644.
"modem.img" / "modem_1_3g_n.img" can be found under /system/etc/firmware/
IF YOU ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING YOUR MODEM IMG FILE SEE POST NUMBER 10 ON THIS PAGE FOR A COPY OF MINE. HOPEFULLY IT WORKS

ROMs-
Original Canadian 6040A ROM from Brka at GSM. I have not tested this, but source (Brka) is well versed with android. That being said, Use at own risk
TCL S950 ROM 4.4.2 Kit Kat Follow instructions in link (I have this working 100% for 6040A)
AOSP 4.4 and S950 Galaxy S4 User Interface ROM's. Follow instructions in link (I was unable to solve Mobile network issue for both of these. Also the AOSP ROM is designed for internal SD cards only. More experienced users are required.
SlimCat Custom ROM 4.4.2 I have this up and running for 6040A. Simply Flash via recovery and modify "modem.img" file to find mobile network.
If you plan on flashing the TCL S950 KK ROM, I can help you get the network working. Feel free to ask!
And if anyone has been able to Flash the ASOP KK ROM 1.3 for the 6040A and got the mobile network working and has been able to mod it for external SD card support, please let me know how.

I'll play around with the modem files you pointed me to. I'm going to try getting them working on the Slimkat rom that is on 4PDA. If I ever do, I'll post here where to put the necessary files.
Back up your original file and play around with it. I've read two methods on here for this and what I did would make 3 methods. My way was a fluke I'm pretty sure but it had worked every time I have had to reflash original ROM. Try other two ways first

Yes, it does. I have all my music on my SD card and it reads it perfectly fine. I also find it a very smooth rom with almost no lag at all. You will probably want to install GB KK though, as it doesn't have all the customization options ROMs usually do.

I'll give it a try. You mentioned three different installation methods. So far, I have copied my older one to /system/etc/firmware, and it hasn't worked. What are the other two?
And there's also placeing the modem.img file in the path "root/custpack/modem/" rename the file to modem_1_3g_n.img.
People say it's one or the other.
I had to rename them both in both locations for it to work for me.

As for using custpack, with this rom it's not an option, as there is no custpack directory. I tried making one for the phone to use, but it's erased on boot.

Ok the very first time I got it working I had a modem.img and a modem_1_3g_n.img in the same folder. both with 644 permissions. Not exactly sure which one was renamed though. Honestly it was a fluke.

So right now, here's where I'm at: The SIM card is detected, and it can find mobile networks, as well as tell me my telephone number. When a call is placed, it tells me that "The mobile network is unavailable." The lockscreen also tells me either "Searching for new network" or "Emergency calls only". I'm going to try a few things, including playing with the available APNs and see if I can get a connection.
