How to push CWM onto a rooted/setup FireTv? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone give me a hand here? I dont want to loose the setup FireTV that I have now. Its rooted so and and so on. But does NOT have CWM. How can I flash this to the FireTV and NOT loose anything that I have on it?

Interesting... I just looked it up. I'll have to see how many successful flashes have been done. Assuming no issues, since its still rolling along.

adbFire offers one-click installs for CWM recovery.

Right but on the original install of CWM you need to be on FW 51.1.0.2 or older or you would need to downgrade. And I think downgrading would mean loose of root. Which can be put back on there. But not sure how the downgrade/loose of root/re-ROOT would affect his current XBMC/Launcher/Exposed etc setup that came with his FTV ?? Maybe someone can let us know?

[Q] Why Can't I Use Custom Roms

Every time i install any of the custom rom on my Hong Kong GT-N7105; the screen flickers on the Samsung intro screen and then it goes dark. If I press the buttons a few times it'll finally come on, but it does it every reboot. It also doesn't recognize the SD card and corrupts it. I'll finally get aggravated & go back to stock. What can I do different?
Another question. Why do I have to wipe & reset settings every time before it will reboot on stock after I install it with Odin?
I got an answer 4 u bro. Dont root it again and stop doing it, ok. If u don't know what you doing, then don't do it. It's 4 your own good peace-out
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Well, that's about what I decided to do. I don't like stock 4.1.1 looking like Gingerbread. I sure had a lot better luck doing my Note 1 that is when i stayed away from the D2att Roms.
Make sure you are installing a custom rom for the N7105 because the roms for the N7100 don't work on the N7105.

I try to use ones that have t0lte in the file name.
I have the same issue like yours few days ago but i manage to solve it. The problem lies with the root file. May i know what file did you use to root your phone? I use cf-auto-note2 on my N7100 but after changing it to CWM.... it works like charm. Do try it out.
Previously... after root or flash custom rom, my screen flickered. After changing to the right root file.... it is solved 100%

Sorry, I just now saw your response. I use the SuperSU 0.99 root file in the Note 2 Tool kit. There's a Superuser 3.1.3 but it wouldn't install. I'll look for & try the one you suggested. Thanks...

Well, I tried to install the Paranoid JB again and it flickered on the boot again and goes black. I couldn't wake it up til I reinstalled stock again. I may just have to bite the bullet and run stock.

[Q] This is probably a stupid question but I need to know.

I am a complete noob and I have a question. I am going to root my kindle fire with "Kindle Fire Utility 0.98+" and I know that I have to install permanent root, but what else on the menu do I need to install, and is there any particular order to install them, and how to UN-root if I have too.
Sorry for a stupid question but I am not accustom to these things like the younger generation.
Thanks,
Scotty
Make sure what kindle version you got. You don't want to brick it. All the tools you need should be in kfu. Good luck

I have version 6.3.2 on the kindle fire. I have done research and reading but can not figure out if I need to install eveyrthing that is on the menu or what these things do. Once I figure that out, I can go ahead and root but not until.
Thank you for your reply,

If all you need to do is root, just select the root option in the menu. It will install everything you need.
Enjoy!

I know there is, but the only option I can give you is to uninstall superuser when you are rooted. That will not give anything access to root. Is this the same as unrooting? I don't know.
Also, you could flash the stock update.zip after taking appropriate measures in TWRP and wiping the things you need to to go back to the unmodded kindle fire OS.

Yes, just download one of the update files from KFU and install them and you will be unrooted. Or uninstall superuser after deleting su in the /system directory.

Kindle Fire 2 10.4.3 (Possible to Root?)

My kindle just got an upgrade about 30 mins ago, and I used root check to see if I was still rooted and im not :/ Could I use the same method I used to root my Kindle when it was at 10.4.1? I asking because I don't want to mess anything up (again)
What method did you use to root 10.4.1 ?

I tried with this steps:

I did everything but at the end no root (there were some errors in the different steps). At least es file explorer cannot see it.
Can I flash older firmware?

I used bin4ry ver. 30 to root 8.4.1. today I discovered I was OTA upgraded to 8.4.3. However, I still have root and Google Play Store. Tested by downloading Android Firewall and gave it root access permission. I thought the OTA upgrade would break root???

I rooted earlier today without any trouble. I thought I was on 8.4.1 but when I just looked I was at 8.4.3. Not sure if I rooted before or after the update. I disabled OTA with KF First Aide so I thought that it wouldn't update. Either way, I'm rooted and on 8.4.3 with all the google goodies installed and running.

Did you take the update??? If not you should be OK to root. If you did then I'm not sure, you might be able to but then again it may brick your device. Sorry it's not the answer you are looking for but it's the best I have.
