I used bin4ry ver. 30 to root 8.4.1. today I discovered I was OTA upgraded to 8.4.3. However, I still have root and Google Play Store. Tested by downloading Android Firewall and gave it root access permission. I thought the OTA upgrade would break root???

I rooted earlier today without any trouble. I thought I was on 8.4.1 but when I just looked I was at 8.4.3. Not sure if I rooted before or after the update. I disabled OTA with KF First Aide so I thought that it wouldn't update. Either way, I'm rooted and on 8.4.3 with all the google goodies installed and running.

Woke up this morning to notification of new software update from att. I'm already on the official KK update from couple of months ago. Anybody else get this? What is the update?

From the above link...
"Update to android 4.4, including improved security".
So what does this mean? What exactly in 4.4 has been updated? What security updates? Anyone know?

Thanks for reply rom
But i actually meant did anyone know specifically the differences much like Andy's question
The update forced on my phone, crashed it because I had a custom recovery, so I had to flash back to. Jelly Bean and now I can't obtain root after re-updating.

Have you tried it on a device thats had the new ota update installed?
Also I thought there was a security concern with the kingo root method, something about it being from China and contains malwares that sends files back to its home server, supposedly these files are the ones necessary to clone the device.

[Q] I received the D851 10m OTA today. Some questions.

I have rooted, and I have xposed installed.
What is the upgrade procedure? Do I need to go so far as to remove root? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!

Got this just now...but don't wanna lose root. The notification is annoying as hell. I would flash and update if it won't bork everything but I'd settle for just getting rid of the notification. Anybody know how to get rid of it??

When I long press, I see "App Info" and when I press it, it shows Google Play Services.
When it is disabled, does the update go away, or is it still on my G3 waiting to be installed?
Anyone know how this happened? I'm rooted, with custom everything, and I have OTA updates disabled!
I'm doing a TWERP backup anyway.
Anyone that has installed the update - did you get root back?

[Q] Rooting after the new update(10m)

I haven't seen a clear answer on this, so does anybody know what root methods still work after the new update? If they all still do, is there anything I should do differently in the rooting process?
You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade
BAD ASS G3
Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

I used Stump root and mine is rooted again. I had to use the brute force root to get it done in Stump. After that I installed SuperU, TWRP and Busy Box.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

Root android N

Hello everyone,
after flashed Android N, I've tested twrp 3.0.0 and supersu 2.68. If you change the vendor, putting one of MMB29V version, it will be the decrypting data, but when it flash a supersu, the installation is successful, but when you restart the phone, the system is not rootato. How I can fix this issue? Thanks a lot

I also have a problem after flashing Android n the root access and
Twrp is gone please tell how to install it again
Same issue here...I dont think it is possible, easily anyway. If you notice after it boots back into TWRP your internal storage is displayed as empty. All storage is. It says the installation is succeessful, but I think after it pushed the root files to ypur phone and rebooted to flash them, it could not as the files were no longer there......I don't know though.....Good luck!!

Regarding Root I have used phh's modified boot image from somewhere in XDA the link of which I forgot and fastboot flashed. With that I have installed phh superuser from Google play store and root works. However, some apps doesn't approve the SuperSU and busybox doesn't get installed. Meantime, there are multiple boot images for rooting N. If interested you can try the images one by one and post your results here
Here is root for N

Question Netflix Not Working After Root

Rooted by modifying boot.img. Passing Safetynet.. Netflix say to please update to latest version and no way to update.
when freezing it Play store doesn't have an installable Netfilx. Cannot delete it through ADB or any other way, too. Weird.
Anyone have an idea?
