So I have a GNex which is semi alive... the last time I flash a custom ROM over it, it went into this weird mode where I couldn't update or revert the ROM/Kernel. I've found a website called www.parts4repair.com which has the eMMC and it's relatively cheap... less than USD$30. But I'll need to send the device in to a shop to replace it which may cost a bit more about another USD$30. Is it worth the fix?

For 60$, maybe you would be better off with replacing the entire motherboard if you can find one. It wouldn't be a new eMMC, but at least you would know you have genuine parts.
I can't Seem to find a replacement motherboard. But I get what you mean. That said, I can't get spare parts locally here in Malaysia for the GNex i9250. Where'd you suggest aside from ebay?

I'm looking to repair the plastic camera lens of my smartphone, but I'm having such a hard time finding the part.
I could send it in to Samsung for repair, but they'd keep it for 1-3 weeks, and honestly for something so simple I'd prefer to do it on my own.
I've been looking for parts for the GT-I9100G, but I don't find them. Is the "G"-less version the same?
Any suggestions?
Well as per the company the Camera part is identical in the G and non-G.
But still, I wouldn't bet on it. Better find a replacement phone for 1-3 weeks.

No you can't (CWM, etc shouldn't allow you to install them, but if you do somehow manage to there's a high probablity you'll brick your phone)
There are seperate custom roms for i9100G from most projects.
Try to Get a Defect I9100G from Ebay with a Broken Display or whatever
Maybe you get a Real Cheap one and then you also have some Other Parts left when something else gets broken Someday
I have a SDS n7100 and need to change the mobo.
Anybody done this?
Anything spesial to think about when doing this (apart from ESD)?
Wath programing is on a brand new sammy mobo?
IMEI/SN?

Is a new motherboard from Samsung ready for odin?
On youtube there are loads of videos with regards to dissambling the phone etc. Its not that hard to get the main pca assy. Out and replace it. If you have a full nand backup you can tey restore it.

Thanks, currently they're out of stock, I'm not in any rush, ordered a Nexus 4 to replace it. Looks like this is what I'm going to have to do. Never importing a phone again. I've learned my lesson. Effectively there's no warranty.
They have been out of stock since they sold the last mobo to me....
Better send them a email and ask...
looking for a replacement mobo
Where did you order it from? Did it work ? I had also a bad emmc chip. Ordered the emcc chip from China. But the emmc chip replacement failed due to glue + damaged routes. How much the motherboard cost you ?
coming from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661269 many people are facing emmc failures , mine failed 2 months after the warranty expired

Hi
I ordered my mobo from rounded.com, I payed 250€. It turned out to be a used part but works grate to this day (the new mobo also have affected emmc, but no symptoms) In daily use, as my secondary phone.
Best Regards
250 is too much for a motherboard
That is expensive ! I can buy new Note 10.1 for that price. It's more than 2y old tablet...
agreed
Yes! This was 1,5 year ago, the phone was newer
But the price today is lower... 113€.... If you see at the www
If you by a used phone, with cracked display... that may be even a cheaper solution

First, I swear I've searched high and low for this answer. I've been to the xda threads with guides to disassembly and reassembly and followed the links to OEM part retailers and come up with zilch.
So, I have a bricked GT-N7105 with suspected sudden death syndrome. It acted screwy for a few days with random reboots etc and then, one day, I took it out of my pocket and it was dead. No boot, no charge, no lights, no nothing. I sent it to Samsung who (classic) are claiming liquid damage and want to charge me $588 Australian to fix it. I am unprepared to pay this. I know that the chip should be covered by extended warranty but this is voided by the supposed liquid damage. I will fight them on it but am not optimistic about the outcome.
So, assuming that I'm not giving my money to Samsung or the company that they outsource their repairs to, can anyone point me towards a link for a store selling replacement motherboards for the N7105?
Furthermore, I haven't managed to find specific information on the motherboard model number for the N7105: is it the same as the N7100 or any of the other Note II variants? Anything that can widen my search criteria will be helpful.
Thanks all. Love your work.:good:

If your phone has suffered SDS,then only emmc is damaged, not the whole motherboard. You can get it(emmc) replaced from a third party repair shop.
Gud luck.
1st of all, a motherboard is about 200-250$, and you can repair it at a normal smartphone repair shop, screw samsung.
request photos of the "liquid damage"
i'd take this to the court.
When i destroyed the partitions on my old galaxy player 5.0, they said it was corrosion from some sticky liquid lol, and they eventually gave me a replacement (probably because i figured out they were lying)
+1,Its the same old story they tell to everyone...here in india too .So if you are sure that its not damaged by liquid, just stick to your point and be stern in your approach while dealing with these so called 'technicians'...
Gud luck.

there you go http://www.etradesupply.com/samsung/galaxy-models/samsung-note-ii-lte-n7105.html?limit=all
N7105 is totally different to the N7100 internally so the mainboard will not physically fit onto the chassis if you put the wrong one in ..as the chassis behind the screen which carries the mainboard is totally different ... so get the the correct one if you are going to change the mainboard

Thanks for that, mate. This comes up on google. They have no motherboards!
DId you manage to find a replacement motherboard @acesofdaves?
I have a 32GB version of the 2013 Nexus 7 tablet that has failed at the Google screen. I have read enough forums to know the only way to fix this is to replace the main board. Does anyone know if I can replace the board from the 32GB version with a 16GB version? These seem much more available.
Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60397387
Yes. I just completed the repair successfully today.
Good to know. The 16GB board is $35 and the 32GB is $85. Just ordered a replacement for mine on Amazon. I got around to updating to 5.1 just late last week and this morning woke up to the Google screen.
As i sit staring at my equally dead 32GB, the only thing keeping me from ordering a replacement, is... . will it happen again? lets face it, most replacement boards are pulled from broken/used tablets, and if this is something that happens after a time, it will just happen again. Personally, i am not too keep on buying replacement after replacement for an aging tablet. Now, if somebody comes up with a good WHY it happened, and what can prevent it, ill be interested again..

Seems to be a random glitch. Some attributed it to the brand or batch of eMMCs used on the motherboard, though it's more an educated guess than solid proof . From my perspective, using a custom rom somehow eludes the problem completely. And I've tried at least 4 or 5. Apparently, the OTA modifies the partitions in such a way that makes it potentially susceptible to such failure. So if you insist on official roms only, you're assuming that risk.
I finally was forced to update to android 5.0.1. I updated at work but it failed halfway through and is now in a boot loop. I've tried every solution the internet can provide me. What do I do now? The device IMEI has a limited warranty until 2017. I purchased through swappa. I have original box but no documentation besides the barcode sticker on the side. Will AT&T replace this? It was their update that caused this anyway. Any experiences with this sort of thing please? I dropped a large chunk of change on this paperweight. Thanks

The first thing to do is find a local Best Buy with a Samsung Experience shop. They can reflash the firmware or send the phone in for repairs. This would be the best and easiest option. Most likely, you'll be able to get everything fixed in around an hour max.
BTW, it doesn't matter if the device was purchased from somewhere other than Best Buy!
I'm not sure if ATT will replace the phone if you didn't buy it from ATT. You can contact them to see though. Call them and tell them that you bought the device from Swappa. Though, most likely, they'll turn you away unless they have some sort of business alliance with Swappa.
Do this as a Plan B.
The third option is to get in contact with Swappa. I don't know anything about that service though. Usually in order to claim warranty, you need the device and proof of purchase. If Swappa has an online receipt, or even just an online purchase history, that should work. They most likely would just need some sort of proof that you actually bought the device from or through them. Like I said, I don't know anything about Swappa, so you'll have to contact them to get specifics of what you'd need.
When all else fails, go directly to Samsung. Again, tell them that you got the device from Swappa. Though, this would basically be like the first option, except that it would take longer.
All options except the first one may result in you getting a refurbished replacement. Just an FYI. The only way that Best Buy will give you a refurbished replacement is if they were to send the phone back to Samsung and it was replaced.
PM me if needed!

Hey, thanks a lot. This may be the single most helpful forum post I've ever read. I will drive up to BestBuy tomorrow and give it a shot. I wasn't able to flash a AT&T stock rom through Odin, but I guess it's worth a shot. I believe the flash failure was due to the AT&T bootloader being locked?

Welcome!
Most likely something just went wrong during the installation. The bootloader is not a factor in this matter since all ATT Note 4s have it locked and the firmware is meant for this phone.
Now, if you had the phone rooted (permanently), installed a custom kernel and recovery, etc, then the update failure would be 100% explainable. But since you can't do any of that with this phone, then the most likely cause is just "sh1t happened" or the installation was interrupted (like battery died).

I used Kies, Kies3 and Swap Sync or whatever to do an emergency restore. All of them failed. Kies 3 recognized the phone and was 98% done downloading the firmware and then failed.
Also i am not rooted and never attempted a root (on this phone anyway).
Good news. Just got off the phone with AT&T and they have a replacement on the way. Thanks for your help everybody. We have achieved the best case senario for me as i was having problems with the volume buttons anyway
I would consider this case solved.

Awesome! Win-win for you (I guess?)
If the volume keys were messed up, then I wonder if there was some other problems with the phone too. Ones you couldn't see... ones that prevented proper firmware installation.
