as far as I know
We need to wait for the official Android L on our devices, if there will be one. Most probably not. The closer we can go is a ROM, but it's not worth it.

we don't
We need Google to publish (merge) their source code (AOSP, base of the ROM, human language for the ROM's computer code) to be able to easily modify it to suit our device's needs (drivers etc.)

Thanks now I understood
I'm also really curious how long it could take after the release of the AOSP code, that's why I bump this thread now.

Good question.
SDK = System Development Kit
This are the tools to build the ROM now you have to wait for the "chefs" to start cooking...since many things are device specific i dont know how long will take to have a stable rom, probablly when HTC Stable 2.1 rom is leaked.
You want to install the development kit (for writing Android apps on the computer) on your phone?
The Android 2.1 SDK is now online and available. Have at it Devs

now all the gaps will be filled. chefs will take the missing parts will integrate in their roms to make their roms perfect. so you need to wait for some time as chefs need free time to develop roms. so just be a little be patient and give our awesome devs some time.

Maybe HTC also have been waiting for this? And that's why it is taking so long time?
But not that it matters. The way KaguDroid is developing I doubt I will ever go back to something Sense-based. Tried the hybrid Espresso ROM all of yesterday and totally missed KaguDroid.
BTW; I find it really weird that I am not experiencing any of the problems others are with KaguDroid.
I totally agree with you raskall!
Since we will have social network in the next version + live wallpapers + bluetooth, i won't miss sense
( ha yes.. the smartdialing! it's so long to choose contacts when u are used to write the first letters...)

No - the SDK contains the tools and libraries to build applications for Android 2.1. It is AOSP that is required to build the OS.

Hmmm...
Wonder if we could take that ROM, change the updater-script to match our mounting points....then we just need a kernel....
Which we have one kernel already made. Not sure if it would work though.
If anyone would help set up a build environment that would work for our kernels and roms then I will gladly help and start learning.

Well, it shouldn't take too long. It may be possible to build a CM9 Kernel for our phones using parts of the stock kernel that we have access to.
Once the JB source is released, an S3 port might actually be viable. Otherwise it's essentially just flashing a gnex image and praying something/anything works.

a CM9 kernel shouldn't be needed, just a modded kernel for our specific phone from what i believe.
We know this, but it's more of an experiment. Also, it helps work out anything we may need to do early on with the modules and drivers

Why not take this ROM, change the updater-script for our mount points, remove the flashing of the boot.img, flash ROM then flash the kernel Roman release?

It could, in theory. But we would need to work on the modules for anything to work. Could you post our mount points?
why does it have to be a cm9 kernel?
to be completely honest, as soon as we get a cm9 alpha, we will see some worth while stuff! but until then. TouchWiz it iz. We will have team kang's AOKP in no time im sure. i cant wait to see wuts to come. especially since this phone is at all the major carriers and they are all basically exactly the same! should be epic.

You dont know how happy i am with this. Is there any place i can check the progress?
It is most likely very possible. But not advised at the moment. Give it some time to mature as a rom. The creator of the rom is a pretty talented individual and will squash the remaining issues it has in time. Then it will be ready for a real port!! Until then I would wait. But in the end it is up to you. Speak with the rom developer first and ask for permissions to port if you do decide to go ahead with the attempt to port.
we dont have a 4.4. kernel, unless you're making one.

not possible because only port will work for same android version like 4.4 to 4.4 not 4.2 to 4.4
and the most important thing is kernel which we don't have

the only thing S-OFF can allow that "benefits" kernels is making the boot partition larger. there's really no point in that though, unless someone ever makes a boot.img so large it needs a new partition.

Huawei has finally uploaded the opens source code for all of our devices (the 3 hardware versions).
I have reuploaded it to Google Drive for easier download.

So anybody have the original download link?
Great news! I Assume custom roms etc will become available now once people have built them?
You can get the original downlaods from here : http://consumer.huawei.com/en/opens...Type=openSourceSoftware&pageSize=10&curPage=1
Just search Nova. The download speed was a tad slow.
Huh, i was asking them several times over the past days about the sources. Pleasent coincidence.

Probably it will work for any variant, even chinese ones.
But my problem is not the rom itself, is the kernel. I'm wanting to learn to mod and compile kernel just for this, as Nova kernel is awful to tweak.
